34. Point Me
Dedicated to Mordred and his brilliant Ethan Holmes Mordaunt

It was his second week at Hogwarts and he had gotten completely lost. Instead of finding Professor Botros’ office, he had somehow ended up outside the castle near a treehouse. He didn’t know that the school had one. Huh, that was pretty cool. He was about to turn back to go back into the castle when he realized that he’d have more luck climbing up the tree to find someone to give him directions. He sighed. He hated heights but he needed to find the office. So Simon climbed up and up the ladder to the great treehouse. Don’t look down… Don’t look down… He paused to look down. Oh sweet mother of Merlin!. He tightened his grip around the ladder and continued climbing.

His jaw dropped when he finally made it into the treehouse. “Woah.” His blue eyes grew to the size of saucers. This place was amazing. He was interrupted from his thoughts by a boy of his own age. “Isn’t this place awesome?”

“It’s incredible.”

“I’m Ethan.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Simon.”

By the end of the conversation with Ethan, he had won a friend and a guide to help him get to Professor Botros’ office.

29. Obliviate


A car accident could be just as effective as someone pointing a wand at you and uttering the word ‘Obliviate’.

You’re seven years old. Sitting in the back of a light blue Subaru, you and your family wait for the light to turn green. You and your brother are happily munching away on some delicious doughnuts that you had picked up at the market. In the front, your mum discusses matters with your aunt in complicated terms. The rain starts to pour. The light turns green. The car jolts forwards and your world spins and turns to black.

Your eyes open. You blink them and you have a huge burning pain in the middle of your forehead. Your entire body hurts. You can barely move a muscle- there’s so much pain and you don’t understand it. You’re not in the car; you’re on the road. Glancing over your shoulder, you see your mum. Your whole world stands still as you run towards her. Is she alive? Is she dead? You panic. “Mum?”

She survived but at a cost. She doesn’t remember much of what happened after the car accident. She doesn’t even remember your birthday.

You’re still seven to her.

50. Waddiwasi
Dedicated to ArianaBlack and her cute Zander Adair

Being snowed in the castle was making the boys go crazy. The common rooms were packed with all the students and there was barely an available quiet space for them to relax. And Peeves had been up to no good as usual. Fortunately, the library was still a quiet sanctuary. Simon and his Lion friend were in the library, searching through textbooks and manuals. While Simon was looking through various textbooks, Zander was working on his arithmancy homework.

“Hmmm,” muttered Simon as he scratched his chin and flicked through several pages of the book.

“What are you looking at?” asked Zander who was now standing beside Simon, peering at the book.

He pointed at the specific section he was reading. “Waddiwasi. It’s the incantation of a charm that can be used to shoot whatever the caster wants at a target or a victim.”

A silly smile appeared on Zander’s lips. Simon raised an eyebrow, wondering what his friend was thinking. “Do you think we could use that on Peeves?” asked Zander.

Simon smirked. “I don’t think that the Professors would put us in detention for it.” It’d be fun to cause a little bit of mischief every now and then.

28. Nox
Dedicated to SlytherinSistah and her maniacal Cutty Mordaunt

When Simon and Cutty stepped outside the kitchen, they noticed that the lights were dimmed. Hadn’t it only been seven a couple minutes ago? thought Simon as he checked his watch. His blue eyes widened when he read the time. Ten? Oh dear, if they got caught, it’d be very bad for Slytherin. Their house couldn’t afford to lose any more points. They were so close to beating Gryffindor.

With his ear pressed against the door, Cutty’s eyes widened. He grabbed Simon’s hand.“Someone’s coming. Over here, Holden.” Then he pulled Simon underneath the table. The door opened and they held their breath as a Prefect walked in and then promptly left.

Simon let out a sigh of relief. “That was a close one.”

“Talk about it,” said Cutty as he began dusting himself off, “Booht we should get outta here.” Simon nodded in agreement, pulling out his wand to lighten their path. A beam of light emitted from his wand. Cutty rolled his eyes.“We don’t use Lumos, Holden. They’ll see us. We hafta let our eyes adjust to the light.”

How silly of me, thought Simon as he quickly muttered, “Nox!”

They would have to walk back in the dark.

32. Peskipiksi Pesternomi
Dedicated to Hey Ju and her beautiful Agatha

Reading a History of Magic textbook on the sofa in his common room, Simon stumbled onto a chapter about Harry Potter's second year with Gilderoy Lockhart. "Peski-piksi Pester-nomi?" he repeated and chuckled when he heard that the spell had absolutely no effect on the pesky pixies.The incantation was just ridiculous. He practiced saying it over and over again. "Peskipiksi Pesternomi" Beautiful. He glanced up from his reading, stealing a secretive look at Agatha. She was twirling her hair as she read something. A blush crept onto his cheeks. Girls made him feel weird. A smirk appeared on his lips. "Hey Agatha, say 'Peskipiksi Pesternomi' three times fast?" he said.

She glanced up, still twirling the strand of bond hair around her index finger. She raised an eyebrow at him. "Why would I even do that, Simon?"

"Because its fun," he tried.

"It's weird."

"Oh come on, live a little, I dare you."

A glint appeared in her beautiful aqua eyes. "Challenge accepted. Peski-piksi Pester-nomi. Peskipiksi Pesternomi," she looked back at her book. "Happy?"

"Very."

"Good because now you're going to attempt to do pointe."

Simon gaped.

44. Stupefy

Dedicated to sweetpinkpixie and her legend-WAIT FOR IT-dary character Airey Flamsteed

Simon took a seat on the comfy couch in Professor Flamsteed's Office and glanced around the room. It was really, really organized and neat and clean. He liked this office a lot. After surveying the land, he frowned slightly as he couldn't see any Klingons or Vulcans in plain sight. Hmm.. He could have sworn that Flamsteed had been hiding Vulcans in his office. When he turned around to answer the Professor's next question, Simon's blue eyes widened when he saw what the Professor was wearing. Professor Airey was wearing Vulcan ears and was doing an impression of Spock. Merlin. Lenoard Nimoy would have been proud to see such a dedicated and professional impersonation of his beloved Vulcan character. His jaw dropped.

It was as if he had been stupified. He couldn't form coherent sounds, words. or sentences. All he could do was gape and stare at the Professor with big blue eyes that were as wide as saucers. Merlin. He was in awe. Utterly in awe of his Astronomy Professor He raised his hand into the air and give Airey the proper Vulcan salute.

Live long and prosper, cool Professor.

He wanted those Vulcan ears for Christmas.

21. Langlock

Dedicated to Mordred and his brilliant Ethan Holmes Mordaunt

Simon flopped onto his bed after a long confusing day with two girls on his mind: Agatha and CB. CB was bubbly and sweet where Agatha was kind, judgmental, and challenging. Both girls were his friends; however, as the days went on, he felt himself becoming more confused about them and his feelings toward them.

"Rough day?" asked Ethan as he took a seat on the sofa next to both of their beds.

Simon raised his head and then lowered it back onto his pillow. "Mhfjksdlhfs sjhf," he said into his pillow. Realizing that Ethan probably couldn't understand him, he raised his head. "Girls are crazy."

Ethan chuckled and nodded in agreement. "They are rather crazy," He paused. "Does Simon likey a girl?" Rolling his eyes, Simon tossed a pillow over at Ethan. "Hey, its an honest question."

Simon sat up on his bed. "No, I don't. Okay, maybe I do. Girls are confusing." He went onto explain why next. "I feel as if whenever I speak to a girl, its like someone's cast the Langlock jinx on me."

"I feel ya, mate," said Ethan, patting Simon sympathetically on the back.

11. Expecto Patronum

"Harry Potter learned how to cast the patronus charm during his third year. Most people can't do this," said Simon as he read a section of his history textbook out loud. He paused. "If Harry Potter could do it then so can I!" he said as he picked up his wand and grasped it carefully. He was about to walk right out of the door to go practice the incantation when he realized that he didn't even know what the incantation was.

Simon opened and began searching through various books in his trunk. His blue eyes widened when he found it. "Aha," he exclaimed and then leafed through the pages to find the exact section. He stopped when he did. "The Patronus Charm," he muttered as he continued to read the section. He had to think of the happiest memory ever. He closed his eyes.

Happiest memory? What was it? Meeting Ethan and Zander? Was it when he found out that he had magic? He didn't know.

"Expecto Patronum" he repeated to himself. He practiced the spell over and over again.

In his fourth year, he finally saw his patronus. It was a cheetah.

1. Accio
mini challenge twelve - We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Simon really wanted an ice cream.

If only he were allowed to use his magic to make his favourite mint flavour appear in front of him. He frowned as he gazed out the window longingly. It seemed as if his sister shared his want for ice cream for she began chanting,"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" She nudged Simon playfully with her shoulder, giving him a wink as if she was promising that he'd get him ice cream too. Simon chuckled silently as he knew what their father's response would be.

"Allie, you had ice cream only a couple of days ago, said their father.

"Daddy, Simon didn't get any ice cream and it would be fair if we gave him some too!" She turned and gave her brother a maniacal grin. Simon shook his head and gazed out the window.

Their father turned around to gaze at them, "Simon, do you really want ice cream?"

"Yes, please. As the future lawyer said, ice cream would be fair."

Their father grinned. He was an easily persuaded man. "Fine, let's go!"

The two siblings high-fived and basked in their victory.

2. Avada Kedavra

Balloons.

Simon couldn't stand them during his third year at Hogwarts.

They were static generators made of plastic and filled with air. The ones filled with helium were good as Simon enjoyed sucking out the helium in order to make him sound like a silly chipmunk. That was fun.

As he entered the classroom, the boy's blue eyes widened in fear when he saw how many balloons were in there. He panicked. There were balloons everywhere in the classroom. Simon held his notebook up closer to his face when he entered the classroom, ready to protect himself from them. Balloons were intentionally out to get him.

Wasn't being afraid of a balloon almost as silly as being afraid of a butterfly landing on you? Probably but Simon didn't care. After having a balloon fly at a dangerous velocity towards him and seeing his life flash before his eyes, he just didn't like balloons. It was as simple as that.

What could he do to get rid of them? He supposed he could pop them with a needle. The only way Simon saw himself ever using an Unforgivable would be to get rid of a balloon. Was that even legal?

6. Crucio
Dedicated to all these people: Hey Ju, Mordred, Slytherin Sistah, Kaos.Doodles, Lemon, and Poolicious

Kyroh hadn't paid Cutty for the candy using real money. He'd paid in the currency of lint from his own trousers. Simon just stared at the first year with wide eyes. Seriously, the first years were crazy this year. There was Kyroh, the lint paying boy, then there was Candice, the girl who just stared at him, and and then there was Dima the boy who set people on fire. He didn't understand first years. Were they all like this?

Simon was brought away from his thoughts when Kyroh threw the box of his candies up into the air and cockroaches flew everywhere. Agatha hid behind Ethan and then the box hit Ethan square in the eye. Simon winced, watching the whole scene play out in slow motion. Kyroh squirmed around, trying his hardest to get all the cockroaches off of himself. Seeing Kyroh squirm so much reminded him of the Cruciatus Curse that could cause a spider to roll around and its legs to spin crazily.

Without another thought, the boy finally took action and cleaned up the cockroaches from the scene. A very upset Kryoh ran off and Simon just stood there. "Well that escalated rather quickly."

19. Jelly Legs
Dedicated to Wood'sLittleFlower and her cutie CB!

Simon checked his reflection in the mirror. He had opted for a plain dark blue woolen sweater and jeans. Was that acceptable for hanging out with a very pretty girl? Simon pursed his lips. He didn't know. Glancing about the room, he looked for Ethan or Cutty but couldn't find either one of them. He'd have to make this decision by himself. He didn't want to make it as he was very nervous. "I've got this," he told himself, taking a deep breath in and out. He could do this. Grabbing his coat, Simon headed out the door and up the numerous amount of stairs to the seventh floor.

After making his way to the bronze knocker, Simon paced back and forth a little bit before deciding to lean against the wall and just wait. He was becoming more and more nervous. Why had I been so stupid to send that owl to ask her out? he chided himself.

His fears disappeared when she arrived. He smiled, hoping that they wouldn't cave in as if someone had used the jelly legs curse on him.

"Hi Simon!" she called out to him smiling.

Simon beamed. "Hey CB!"

3. Bluebell Flames
Dedicated to Mordred

He hurried along the freezing dungeons and then went up the stairs from his Common Room and into the Great Hall for a bite to eat. Despite being dressed in nearly four lawyers, the boy still shivered as he entered the frigid room. Snowflakes fell lazily from the ceiling and landed neatly on the floor. He usually would have enjoyed such a beautiful sight; however, the boy was too sick of the cold weather.

Simon took a seat at the Slytherin table and began serving himself breakfast. A nice cup of hot chocolate, toast with apricot jam, and a raspberry yogurt would do the trick. He gathered the items and was about to start eating when Ethan sat down in the seat opposite to him. “Morning,” said Simon. Ethan grumbled slightly, helping himself to some food and hot chocolate as well.

A couple minutes later, Ethan replied very cheerily as he was now awake. “’Morning Simon! Eat quickly, Watson. We must get to the research meeting to help Flamsteed. ”

“Right, eat first then research, said Simon. “Nice idea about the bluebell flames in the dormitory.” Ethan’s idea had warmed their room up quite nicely. Simon could feel his toes.

35. Quietus Charm

Simon turned around from gazing into the magnificent mirror to find his own reflection staring right back at him. He quickly whipped his head around to see if he hadn’t actually turned around. The mirror was behind him and held the same image of a three ballet shoes dancing on pointe. Agatha would have simply loved this picture.

Then he turned his gaze back to his reflection. Okay so the boy was a little shorter than him and dressed in yellow robes. They had the same hair, eyes, and face. Was this boy his long lost brother? No, that would have been impossible because only these things happened in fiction. Simon just stared at the Hufflepuff kid as he tried to make some sense of the situation in front of him.

“I… you… I… whaat?” he muttered underneath his breath so quietly that no one could hear him speaking. It just looked like he was moving his lips and making serious faces. Perhaps someone had cast the Quietus Charm on him? Yes, that must have been it.

A thought hit him. This must have been Toby. The kid that Cutty said looked exactly like him. Weird.

He blinked. “You’re Toby?”

39. Riddikulus
Dedicated to Zander

Zander was taking notes during the research meeting.

He was taking a LOT of notes.

Simon's eyes widened as he subtly leaned over his friend's shoulder to see what the Gryffindor possibly could have been scribbling at what seemed like ninety miles per hour. "Whatcha doing there, mate?" he asked with eyebrows knotted. Simon tried his hardest to look preoccupied with the textbook that he had picked up so he began to flip through the book in his hands to see if there was any mention of chorts inside.

Zander explained his theory, leaving Simon gaping. “But why would she do that? She’s a Professor!”

"But think about it, who better than a Professor? She knows so much about the school and about the dark arts! Aaaand who else would be out in the forbidden forest, a student couldn't go there by themselves in this cold!” explained Zander.

His mate’s theory did make a lot of sense but there was a part of Simon that wouldn’t just give in to it. "Flamsteed wouldn't let her eat us,"”

“ I think Flamsteed may know something too. He could be the one with the weather knowledge.”

“Riddikulus” muttered Simon crossing his arms.

20. Knitting Charm

Their Charms and COMC class was being held outside. And it was snowing very, very lightly. A brisk icy wind greeted him, making him shiver with each footstep he took. The boy could still feel the biting wind underneath all of the layers he wore. The snow crunched softly underneath his shoes with every step he took. He found the two Professors waiting for the class and greeted them warmly. He didn’t know either one of them. Fuller was wearing a nice blue knitted scarf and a warm jacket. That was a really nice scarf. Simon wondered if it was hand-knitted or if the Professor had used a charm on it. He’d have to ask Fuller later. “Good morning, Professors. I’m Simon Holden. How are you?” he asked as he gripped his bag tighter and looked around for a seat. Lucky for him, there were plenty available as he was one of the first students to arrive.

“Good morning. Nice to meet you Simon,” replied Fuller with a small smile. “Cold.” Thompson nodded.

Simon shoved his hands into his pocket. It was a bad habit. “Yes, it is cold this morning, isn’t it?” More students piled in.

33. Petrificus Totalus


"Mars has not been this bright in an age."

What in Merlin's Beard did that even mean? Better question yet, did Merlin even have a beard...? Okay so that was off topic. Think. Think. He continued to pace. So its a freezing living Hoth out there. We're snowed in. How could Mars be as bright if we're in a middle of a blizzard- that made no sense whatsoever. He paused, shaking his head. But how could we be snowed in?

What sort of creature could possibly cause ice and snow to follow it wherever they went?

First he started off looking at Astrology books but he couldn't find anything. Sighing the boy let his mind wander. The night grew darker and darker. Was it actually night though? Simon tried to look out the window but unfortunately all he could see was snow and gloom. He frowned and headed back to the bookshelves as he laid out the facts he knew to be true in his mind.

Dementors, he answered, shivering uncomfortably at the thought of meeting one. He'd rather cast a full body-bind on himself than go on a date with one of those creatures.

7. Confundus
Dedicated to Squishy, ArianaBlack, Roselyn

"Alright, I know that it may be a long shot that it couldn't be Domingo but just think about it, mate," said Simon as he paused, trying to get Zander to see his opinion. "Weird speaking lady shows up and weather goes amiss? It's hard NOT to connect the dots." Then Zander implored that Romanos was the evil conspirator and that she was working with Flamsteed. She blinked. What? Had someone cast the Confundus Charm on his mate, making Zander all confused about who was the real perpetrator? Was it Domingo who had done it? "Have you SEEN her credentials mate? How could you make such a statement," he closed the book rather loudly.

"But have YOU seen Romanos' credentials?"

"Perhaps I have."

"Look, Romanos is going to eat us all for dinner starting off with..." Zander trailed off and eyed Lux.

However, the Hufflepuff noticed them. "I am NOT going to die just because I am a Hufflepuff!" Then she agreed with Simon.

Simon flashed a winning grin at Zander. Heh. Then glancing at Lux, he outstretched a hand in her direction. "Ah another sane person! I'm Simon. Are you Lux?"

24. Lumos

Zander hit his head on the table in the library, startling Simon from his own homework. He watched as his best Lion mate let out a frustrated sigh and went back to his homework. "Everything alright, Zander?" he asked, tilting his head curiously at his mate.

"I don't get Arithmancy at all, mate. It makes no sense." Zander covered his head underneath his arms. Simon had done the homework and knew that he could help his mate. NO. That wasn't going to happen. Gryffindor was already beating Slytherin in the race for the House Cup.

Simon held his tongue.
But...... Zander was a friend.......

He decided to be a friend. "Do you need help?" His Gryffindor mate looked up and nodded very quickly. So Simon began to explain the process of the reduction method. "So if I have 26 as the number.... I do two plus six and get..."

Zander's face was as bright and clear as if he had just cast lumos. Simon grinned happily. "Eight," said Zander as he went on to explain the significance of the number. "Thanks, Simon. Perhaps you ought to be a Professor?"

Perhaps I should.

15. Hurling Hex
Told from the perspective of Simon Holden {first person}

I could have sworn that the pace of the end of term feast was like flying on a broomstick that had been cursed with the hurling hex. I watched as Ethan and Grayson taunted Agatha by winking and making eyebrows at them. Shaking my head, I chuckled. Those two were asking for trouble and they just wouldn't stop.

"Keeping secrets from your friends, hey?" taunted Ethan as he literally wiggled his eyebrows absurdly at Agatha.

Oh dear Merlin, I could have facepalmed there and then. Surrounded by fools in a ridiculous situation. That was what was happening around me. They were lovable fools- nonetheless- but hadn't they learned that pushing someone's buttons could earn them great trouble? My mates continued with their nuisance.

All of a sudden, Agatha even tried to take a plate and to clobber Ethan. WATCH OUT! Luckily Ethan had moved away and she had ended up flinging an arm at my back. Ouch. Then Agatha transformed into the Hulk.

.....weeeell not literally the Hulk but do bear with me. She was as frightening as the Hulk. I suppose the statement: "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" really is true.

43. SpeRevelio
Dedicated to ArianaBlack's Zander and Bazinga's adorable Cassie Morgan

Simon and Zander needed some answers to what was going on in the school. The two transfers had spoken to previous students and had figured out that this winter was especially unusual. After gathering some possible ideas about what could have made the school so frigid, the boys decided to head to Professor Morgan's office for some advice.

When they reached her office, they knocked and waited patiently. Within a couple minutes, Professor Morgan appeared at the door and invited them in. Taking a seat, Simon started off. "So the centaurs informed me that Mars hasn't been THIS bright in an age..... Zander and I didn't really know what that meant so we came to see if you knew what that could mean?" he asked.

"It is certainly a symbol for danger. Something is definitely dangerous and scaring even a centaur," answered Morgan as she went on to reply to Zander's question about her gift to understand animal chatter. He frowned when he learned that she couldn't detect what had attacked the group in the forest. And he supposed that casting SpeRevelio wouldn't do the trick either.

Dark, scary, ancient forces must have been at work, right?

9. Disapperate
Dedicated to the Snakes at FF's

Summer was here and Simon was ready for an adventure of his life time. The young Australian was moving halfway across the world to the UK for his Dad's job as well as his Mum's health. Despite being a little sad to leave his home country and everything familiar, the boy couldn't help but be excited to be closer to all of his friends. NOW he could finally hang out with his mates and do things like a normal teenager instead of waking up early to contact his mates.

A week before settling in to his new home, the boy made his way from the hotel and to Diagon Alley all by himself to meet up with some good friends (Ethan, Sophie, and Grayson). Upon his arrival at Florean's, he claimed a table and soon he found himself with the company that he expected. Sophie and Grayson exchanged far TOO many looks for his liking. This was supposed to a brozone! Respect the bro-code. He frowned. At least, he'd get to embarrass both Romeo and Juliet.

Before he could do anything, Caleb appeared with Cutty in tow. And Caleb plopped down right next to Sophie.

SMIRK.

THIS WOULD BE INTERESTING.

41. Scourgify

“And never forget to clean your cauldrons before you use them,” said Professor Culloden as he directly glanced at a couple of first years. The class nodded silently and the Professor moved on to explain some more concepts that they would be learning later in that lesson.

Blue eyes glazing over, Simon stared at the syllabus in front of him and yawned. He had stayed up way too late the previous night hanging out with the gorgeous CB and it was becoming more difficult to focus. She had such a lovely laugh. He lazily rested his chin on his hand and began dozing off.

POKE.

“WOAH!” he cried all of a sudden as he jumped into the air slightly. Agatha had poked him right in his stomach. No one poked him the stomach. Not even Ethan or Zander or Grayson! He gave her a quick glare and she simply shrugged her shoulders at him. “Why’d you do that?” he whispered to her.

She smirked and twirled a strand of her lovely honey coloured hair. “I was tyring to be helpful you know. You looked as if you were daydreaming about something.”

His cheeks coloured bright red. “Daydreaming?” Cue voice crack.

45. Tarantallegra


Simon was ready to go to the masquerade ball. Eying himself in the mirror, he straightened his bowtie on his tux. "Looking handsome, Simon. You look like you're going to dance the night away," said a voice in his mind.

He rolled his eyes. "Dancing? You want me to see me dance?"

He let go of his bowtie, then picked up his mask. Carefully pulling back the string, he slipped it over his head and checked the mirror. "Look, Shannon. We've been over this. Whenever I dance I look like someone cast Tarantallegra on me." Simon got a chuckle in response. "See? Even you know that I'd look ridiculous."

"At least it would be funny, Simon."

The dark haired boy glanced into the mirror as if his creator could see him on the other side. "But I'm not the funny guy, Shannon. That's Ethan or Zander. I'm the smooth one." He winked at the mirror and then cringed. "The awkwardly smooth one."

"You're adorable."

He winced. "I am NOT."

"Whatever you say, Simon. Have fun at the ball! Tell me all about it later. Promise?"

"Promise."

"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, SIMON. YOU JUST DON'T!" yelled Agatha.

Simon was fed up. "Oh stop being a ridiculous baby and throwing a temper tantrum!"

He paused.

"Why wouldn't someone help you? I'd help you because you're my friend. Despite you being moody and unpredictable and driving me crazy, I think you're pretty awesome. We're friends and friends help each other, okay? I don't care if others say you're mean, you're not mean to me or maybe I just ignore it because I see something in you. I see..." he said. He paused as he searched for the right word. "Ambition... A kindness that you're afraid to show to everyone but only to a few.."

He took a deep breath. He could only help her so much with her work and being a friend for she would have to do the rest. Simon knew Agatha was strong. If she didn't believe it, well he'd have to show her how beautiful she was on the inside out. "Now Agatha, I can help you but only if you're willing to try. Are you willing to try?"

He would have made an Unbreakable Vow with her. That's how much he cared.
