Hello hello~ Raven is in the house, yo! Welcome to my first SS25 drabble about my former school charrie, the one and only infamous ~~apple~~ Head Boy, class of 2080: Gerald Alexander Rush a.k.a Gary. Well, this is my third Fanfic challenge: I completed 100 drabbles of my first charrie, Raven Avicenna Schultz (formerly Charlotte) and a pair one with Jess (Jessiqua) about this guy and Zhenya Burton.

Talking about Gary, after graduating from Hogwarts he works as a photojournalist of a famous muggle photo-traveler magazine. This drabble is gonna tell how his life before, during and after Hogwarts. Hope you enjoy it, guys!

Hogwarts: Fifth Year

The blonde guy just laid himself at the lake side. The first day of spring wasn’t cheered him up. It had been three months since he saw Zhenya. He didn’t see her around the school anymore and assumed that she didn’t come back after Christmas break. Now he was all alone by himself in this place. Staring at the sky, suddenly his mind reminisced at the first time he met his girlfriend. He still remembered how she smiled, cried, laughed and talked to him.

Gary hoped that Zhenya was okay there and he could see her again. He missed her.

Gary was surprised to hear that statement from a Tiffany Pevensie. He was not dreaming, was he? For all this time, the blonde guy just thought that she’s just being a friend to him. Sometimes she could be annoying and childish but she was kind and cared of him very much.

And that because she liked him.

“I do like you, Tiffany.” The blonde guy cleared his throat. “But just as your friend.”

I had a crush on this guy since the first day of school.

He was a new student from Canada. Though he was two years older, but he was very nice to me. I really wanted to say that I like him but I was too shy. Besides, I’m afraid that he didn't like me back. I kept daydreaming about him every time and writing his name on my journal. I wished Raven was still here and giving me some advice. If I asked Dima, pretty sure that he’s gonna make fun of me. What should I do?

Pre-Hogwarts

Gary still remembered the first time he took a photograph.

He was nine at the time. Using his uncle’s camera, he took a photograph of his cousins crying and developed the negatives at the dark room together with him. He fell in love with photography since then. To support his passion, Luke gave him a camera on his tenth birthday along with his first photograph and a nice quote written on the card:

“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”

Photography wasn’t just a hobby to him. It’s his life.

Start - Depapepe

Post Hogwarts: 20 years old

Goodbye, coffee shop. It was such a great experience to work there for fifteen months.

Nope, actually it wasn’t nice for him. It’s horrible! Gary wasn’t a bad barista, but he often got horrible and fussy customers. If he didn’t remember the law about using magic in front of muggles, he would’ve hexed them.

He didn’t need to wear black t-shirt with the coffee shop logo and green apron anymore. From now, he is the junior photojournalist for National Geographic Traveler. With a great smile, the blonde guy stepped in to the NG building. Now his dream had come true.

Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend.

“Just leave me and spend your time with your precious girlfriend.” Suddenly Tiffany said. Her words were surprised him.

“What’s going on?” He asked.

“You’ve changed, Gerald. Since you and Zhenya were back together you’re… different.” She’d never called him by that name unless she was mad at him. Had him done something wrong?

“Do you think I’m the person who dumps his friend because of a girlfriend? Say it!” Tears were falling down from her eyes when he said that.

“Maybe we should stop meet each other before we calm enough to settle this.” Then she left him alone.

“One cup of hot skinny double shot tall caramel macchiato?” He guessed this redhead girl’s order. From his entire customers, Gary was interested about her. She was bubbly, friendly and not to mention that she was generous on giving him tip money.

“Wow, you really remembered my usual order.” She smiled at him “Yes, please.” Then he grabbed the paper cup, writing her order and also a special message to her.

“Dear Renée, would you like to go out with me?”

As that redhead girl got her coffee, she couldn’t help but smiled.

“Yes, I would like to,” She replied.

The brunette girl that he loved from his first day of Hogwarts was wearing a wedding dress, walking down the aisle gracefully. He admitted that she looked very beautiful. It was the best day of her life. If only it was the best day of him too. He was not the groom that waited her at the altar. She got married with somebody else and he was just a guest sitting on the back row.

As the groom kissed the bride, suddenly he opened his eyes. He was lying down at his bed. Thankfully it was just a dream.

Backpack, checked. Some snacks and drink, checked. Some cash, checked. Maps, checked. Cars in good condition, checked.

Good, he’s ready for the road trip now. As Luke had promised, they were gonna travel from Vancouver to Los Angeles with some stop at Seattle and Portland. Gary was very excited. This wasn’t his first road trip together with his uncle but this would be the first time he would drive by himself in this entire trip.

For the first time, he was nervous to drive his uncle’s SUV in this trip. But it was fun. He really enjoyed this road trip.

He wasn't dreaming, right? This morning there was an owl came to his apartment. Okay, it's just an owl. But he couldn't help but shocked when he realized that it was from Hogwarts, notifying him that he was appointed to be the Head Boy of this term.

“I'm a head boy?” He muttered to himself. Seriously, Headmistress and Professor Lafay must be kidding. How could they choose him?

“You can do it, Gerald Rush,” Tiffany said as she discovered it. “It won’t be easy, but I believe that you’ll be a good head boy.” She winked and cheered him up

Funny that you got a nerve to keep asking me how I've been?

Why on earth there was an owl here? He hadn't seen owl outside the wizarding world. He hoped that there would be no muggles saw it. The blonde guy then picked the letter that the owl delivered. It must've for him, but from whom? He noticed that the sender’s name was written on the envelope.

Impossible.

This was not true. This couldn't be true.

For all of this time he had thought that she was gone and now suddenly she sent him an owl. Where on earth she had been? He just put the letter away and let it unread.

Ugh, he never enjoyed school. Little Gary often being bullied by the people there. He tried to skip but his uncle couldn't be fooled by him.

“Oh, look. The little weirdo Rush.” Suddenly a bigger kid with his bunch of friends stopped his way to class.

“Let me go.” The little blonde boy muttered. Instead of letting him go, they just laughed out loud.

“LET ME GO!”

Stomping his foot, suddenly some stuffs flew away from the locker and attacked the bullies.

“How…” Some students wondered. “You’re a monster!”

“I am not!” He shouted in panicked. How could this happen?

“Tiffany, wait!” The blonde guy shouted as he spotted a familiar Gryffindor girl passing the corridor. It had been days since they had a big fight. Gary needed to deal about this, he couldn't lose his best friend.

“What now, Rush?” She asked and acted cold toward him. “Doesn't your precious little girlfriend wait for you now?” She was jealous of Zhenya, he could see that.

“Come on, Tiff.” He grabbed her hand. “We need to talk about this.”

“We don’t need to. You chose Zhenya over me, Gary. That’s obvious. Now leave me alone, please.” Then she left him.

Gary had never climbed a mountain before. All these years, he was more often asked to make reports around the tropical places. This would be his first time. He was excited and yet thrilled. Could he arrive at the peak?

I can do this. He muttered to himself.

His physic and mental were already prepared. Lucky that he was with some experienced climbers who helped him. It was a long and exhausted journey, but glad that he did make it to the top of the mountain.

He was literally on top of the world now.

“Yeah,” He nodded.

“You’re totally over her, huh?” The Gryffindor girl asked.

“I think so.” He answered short.

“You have to.” Tiffany said. “Hey, d'you know Juliet Kim? Slytherin, same year as me. You should ask her out.”

“What? No.” Right now he just wanted to take a break from this.

But she still wanted to hang out with him.

“I don’t think so.” He answered. He was really sure about this and he didn’t want to wait any longer. Then Luke just smiled and took a little velvet box from his drawer.

“Your father wanted to give this to Flo, before he died.” He explained. “If you are really sure, do it. It’s time for you to settle down, Gary.”

“Congratulations, Mr. Rush. It’s a girl.” The midwife smiled as she held his newborn daughter. He still couldn’t believe that he became a father. As the midwife let him held the baby girl, the blonde guy couldn’t help but smiled. She was so beautiful like her mother.

“Hello, baby girl.” He spoke softly to the newborn baby and kissed on the top of her head. He promised that he would do anything to make her daughter safe and happy.

“You already have a name?” The midwife asked.

“I’m gonna name her Aria.” He answered. “C'mon, Aria. Let’s meet your mama.”

For all this ten years, she still loved him no matter what happened. The blonde guy touched her face and thought for a while. The next thing happened, his lips were touching hers. “You’re always be my baby.” He whispered softly.

Two weeks before Christmas, Gary visited Dimitri’s house since now the Burton parents lived with him. His heart started beating faster once he faced Alexander. This wasn’t their first meeting, but still he was nervous because this wasn’t just a meeting.

“So, what makes you come here?” Alexander asked.

“Sir...” Gulp. “I want to invite all of you to our Christmas dinner, though I knew that Zhenny refused to see her parents but..” Deep breath. “I’m planning to propose her, on Christmas. It would be great if you could be there for her.”

It was quarter after midnight, his wife and daughter were already asleep but Gary was still up to catch up some work stuffs. Taking a break for a moment, The blonde guy looked at the photographs on his desk. His smile widened as he looked at the photo of himself, Zhenya and their little daughter Aria. His little family.

He dedicated himself for them now, quitting his job as photojournalist and being a freelancer instead. It was such a risky and bold move, of course. But he’d never regret it. Nothing in this world meant everything for him besides them.
