With school in full swing, your House leaders have organized a camp out… in the common room! That’s right! Not an outdoor camping experience but an indoors one! What better way to get ready for the holidays than by stargazing from the Ravenclaw Tower, building the biggest pillow fort you’ve ever seen, or stair-surfing on mattresses?! See those jars of Bluebell flames set at strategic points around the Room? Those are to keep you warm; this made sense since it was December, just before Hogwarts took a break for the Christmas Holidays. The fireplace is lit tonight but it would be mainly used for you to make yourselves s’mores. Don't fancy s'mores? There are other snacks to tickle your taste buds compliments of the House Elves: tiny cinnamon rolls, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and soft pretzels. Telescopes are situated at each window of the Tower, a mountain of pillows of various shapes and colours are piled in a corner right next to a neat stack of soft mattresses. The room is charmed so that there would be no injuries from the surfing so you are free to go wild!

Pull on that favourite pajama of yours and join your fellow Claws for an evening of fun. Don’t forget to bring your spooky stories!

Unicorn pajamas? Check. Fluffy slippers? Check. All the blankets and pillows she could find from the seventh year girls' dorm? CHECK. Chloe was so ready to party in the common room. She tossed the pillows with the rest of the fort supplies and made her way toward the snackies.

"I'm making cocoa! Who wants a mug?"

Valencia beamed with excitement seeing the common room so decorated. How cool was this? She was decked out in traditional Christmas style -- a candy cane patterned onsie.

"Me please!" she said passing the Head Girl. The first year then made her way directly to all the pillows.

hehehe.

She wanted to jump in them.

They were having an indoor camping event, this was awesome! Chloe had gotten into her best purple polka dotted pajamas with her most comfortable fuzzy slippers. Once she braided her hair into pigtails she headed down to the common room.

"I do!!!"

She heard older Chloe say about coco and of course, Chloe was up for that. "This is a great idea Chloe, thank you for thinking of it." She knew the others did as well, but she didn't see them yet.

Looking to see who was there already she smiled, "Hey Valencia, ready to have some fun?" That was exactly what it seemed like would happen tonight, so much fun!

WOWWW! This was so exciting! Nettie was all about pajama parties, and the fact that this campout was indoors? Count her in. All the fun of an outdoor camping trip but without the nature! Tonight, she'd dressed up in her favorite festive pajamas - they were white button down pajamas with candy canes on them. Perfect for the festive holiday. Her fuzzy red socks were the perfect accessory. She also had her hair tied up in a cute braided up-do, so it stayed out of her face if they were going to have pillow fights or something.

She came into common room just as the Head Girl Chloe was offering to make everyone cocoa. "I'll take some!" she called out to her. She'd brought her own pillow from her dorm - she was picky about the firmness of her pillow and needed her own.

"Hey Chloe!" she added, smiling at her dorm mate as she headed over to the pillows and plopped down on them. If they just spent the night talking and drinking cocoa on these giant piles of pillows, she'd be soooo ok with that.

Camping was fun, but mostly indoor camping. Because it was nice and warm. Hanna's dark magenta pyjamas, her slippers, and gown were all cozy and warm. She was about to help herself to a soft pretzel, but Chloe was making hot cocoa. She headed over, along with the other Eagles already there. "I'd love one too, Chloe!"

It really was a great idea. "It's really cozy and wintery in here." She loved it, looking around at the common room with a big grin on her face.

Caolan wasn’t quite so enthusiastic about this indoor campfire thing as the other students were and you could tell that by the look on his face when he walked into the Common Room to join the group that were already gathered. He had a pair of PJ’s on, or really rather it was a pair of long checked bottoms and a scruffy old white t-shirt that he had dug out from the depths of his suitcase to throw on. At least they were clean. He could smell the food wafting through from his dorm and his stomach rumbled as a response. It was the fact that he was pretty hungry and because this was his house and most of the students were pretty cool, that eventually persuaded him that going to this event would be a good thing.

And there he was.

He dumped his pillow that he had taken from his dorm down in an empty space and flopped himself in on it, picking his knees up and leaning his arms on top of them as casually as he could be. “Hey” he mustered up enough enthusiasm to greet his fellow students. Speaking of.. where were all the boys? He was one lonely fifth year in amongst a sea of females. Ordinarily that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing but the fact that the guys weren’t bothering to attend also told him that perhaps he shouldn’t be there.

Was it too late to leave?

"I’ll take a mug, Ms. Kettleburn!’’ Kay chimed as she joined her Ravenclaws, having just moved in from her office. She was clad in a dark purple pajama suit that had owls printed all over it: owls with books, owls with mugs of coffee, owls with glasses on. Her feet were jammed into white bedroom slippers. Her hair was tied in a plait. At the moment, she looked very much like one of the students and not a professor. Still though, Kay was here to ensure that there was order and respect at this Campout.

Hearing practically every kiddo wanted cocoa, she could hardly let Chloe do all the work by herself. “Hello, everyone! Love the choice of pajamas.’’ There was that beam for them all. “Ms. Kettleburn? I’ll help you there. In the meanwhile, would someone like to suggest an activity that we can use to kick things off?’’

There was a chorus of voices clambering for hot cocoa, and Chloe was glad there seemed to be a self filling thermos so she could fill all the mugs. Loads of mugs, some with a dab of whipped cream, some with marshmallows, a few with neither. "Cocoa's up, friends. And I'm glad we're doing this and I think it'll be loads of fun, but I don't deserve the credit. Professor Stewart and the other student leaders and I all worked on this."

She picked up her own mug and eyed the activities. It would be rude to answer and take away the pleasure from someone else, but she really really wanted to build a fort. Make a nest, do some giggling. "Chloe 2. How about I braid your hair?"

"Thanks Chloe!" Nettie said with a smile as she took the hot cocoa from the Head Girl. She took a sip and was pleased to find it was literally the PERFECT temp - not too hot, not too cold, and just the right amount of sweet. Had she done some sort of magic on it? She didn't care either way. It was GREAT.

"Should we make s'mores? Or tell ghost stories?" that was what you were supposed to do at holiday parties, right?

Also, she was hungry. So...s'mores!

Hanna picked a mug loaded with whipped cream and marshmallows, and taking a big mouthful of warm, melting whipped cream. "Thanks Chloe," she said, for making the hot chocolate.

"Hello Professor Stewart," Hanna said in greeting, as their head leader greeted. "Your Pyjamas are so cool!" Hanna loved owls, but not quite as much as cats.

She continued sipping the delicious hot chocolate, getting the occasional burst of melted marshmallow. Nettie suggested some awesome activities. Hanna thought about what else... were they allowed to have a central bonfire? She could have suggested they all choreograph a dance together, but was sure it wouldn't be a popular opinion. "I'd love to hear some ghost stories." She didn't really know any, but she liked hearing them.

Jackson was sporting a flannel print set and his comfiest socks as he joined the group in the common room. Hot cocoa was a go and he would be over here with a little plate of snacks if anyone needed him. When Chloe shared the credit with all of them, Jackson raised his own mugg of cocoa to her in cheers. "Well thank YOU Professor, for not making me go outside to enjoy this," he added, eyeing the window. Bluebell flames were much more effective when the heat wasn't escaping immediately. When it was time for some ideas, personally Jackson wanted to do s'mores later, but who said they could only do them once?! "Well I think we should do some s'mores and stories, and then I need a challenger for staircase surfiiiiiiing!!" Come on, who didn't want to mattress surf?? "Professor Stewart, are you up for it?" Because that would be amazing.

The girls were talking about braiding each other’s hair and building blanket forts and Caolan was absolutely not going to get involved with all this. He didn’t even grab a cup of hot chocolate, instead he just sat there looking at their Head of House with pleading eyes. Please help!

Was it too late to back the heck away??

He hadn’t noticed the Prefect sat there until he piped up and he felt himself relax just a fraction as he felt the testosterone levels rise just slightly. He could get involved with telling ghost stories as long as they were actually scary and not a load of nonsense dribble that the girls made up on the spot. But then Jackson mentioned mattress surfing and that was 100% something that he could involved with. “Count me in!” he grinned at the Prefect. It saved him from all this girly-ness.

Jackson looked over as someone else answered him, and he gave Caolan a grin. "Yes!" Because how better to start off than an adrenaline rush?? "Okay pick out a mattress and let's goooo!" He could have more snacks later.

Hanna was all ready, preparing s'mores. Thinking back to last year when this would have been thousands of points lost, and months of detention, it made her even happier. That was a thing of the past, and they got to eat S'MORES in the common room. And... she looked over to Jackson. "Staircase surfing?" That's what he said, right? "I'll race the winner!" She got in. That sounded like loads of fun!

She was settling down when she got her mug of cocoa and she smiled at the older Chloe, "Thank you" blowing on it she listened to the others and waved at Nettie and Hannah as they came in. When Net said about scary stories she didn't speak up but hoped maybe they wouldn't be too scary. She wanted to sleep tonight and all.

"Braid my hair? Oh yes please" She beamed at older Chloe, she loved when the older girls did things to her hair, "Maybe you could do our makeup later too" Would the younger girls like that as much as she did, she assumed they would.

Hearing about mattress surfing though, that sounded fun. "I might try that later" For now the girly stuff sounded more fun.

That was quick! Chloe got them all cocoas before Kay could register actually doing anything much to help. “Thank you,’’ she told the girl and plucked a pink marshmallow from her cup. “It was a team effort,’’ the lady went on, to the room in general. “We hope everyone will have a great time.’’ That’s all she wanted, really. The suggestions of their activities came in: S’mores and ghost stories. Both sounded exciting to her!

“Why, thank you, Ms. Newton. This is actually one of my favourite.’’ Kay thought there had never been a more appropriate time to wear it. “How about we do both s’mores and ghost stories? I don’t think any of you would get too scared and forget to eat...’’ She grinned to show that she wasn’t being serious and went to grab a bowl full of big, white marshmallows and chocolate. “I’ve got the marshmallows and chocolate. Of course, if anyone wants to do another activity in the meanwhile, that's fine.’’ There was no stopping any of the fun tonight!

Oh Nimma loved parties! The studentsies were having all the good times it seemed, and that was Nimma's favorite part oh yes! Nimma went around the common room, picking up trash and making sure the snacks were still properly filled. Nimma did not want to interrupt the fun, but she was available if anyone needed anything.

Taddy did not want to miss this party. There was food, games, blanket forts, food, friends, did he forget to mention food too? He came down dressed in a hippogriff onesie, clutching a bag of Bertie bott's beans, gummy worms, and chocolate frogs.

"Hi everyone, I brought some more snacks!" He piped up. He heard a pop in the distance. Ooh, it was a house elf! "Hi." He smiled waving at the elf, were the elves going to party with them too?

There were guys here too y’know? No more braiding (whatever that meant) and makeup and other girly activities, please? However the mention of food was perfectly acceptable. He was a growing lad after all and food was always an acceptable bribe.

But first mattress surfing.

That was more like it. It got the adrenaline pumping and you could potentially hurt yourself which was even better. He got up to grab a mattress but was temporarily distracted by the now familiar pop and appearance of the House Elf. He didn’t greet the Elf directly but gave her an acknowledging nod. He still hadn’t quite made up his mind about them yet. Poor things.

Anyway.. he grinned at Jackson and picked up his mattress preparing himself for the race. “Are you ready?!” Lets show those girls how it was done.

Valencia excitedly nodded in Chloe's direction when she asked if she was excited.

Yes, yes she was.

In fact, the first year went to immediately work on a blanket fort. This was the most critical and important and central part of a sleepover, in her expert opinion. (She did have plenty of experience in this area.)

She then helped herself to some hot chocolate after HeadGirl!Chloe finished making some. She sipped her cup contently while looking over the fort so far.

Jackson made his way to the pile of mattresses and picked a winner. With a grin towards Hanna who had already challenged the winner. "Hey you got it, Hanna!" he called back to her before heading up the stairs and facing Caolan. He lay the mattress down and planted his feet before observing the other boy, making sure he seemed ready too. "Alright LET'S DO THIS!" he yelled out energetically. "On three, okay? One...... Twooooo...... THREE!" He called out and launched himself down the stairs.
"Woooooooooo!!"

Tina had been upstairs in her dorm, studying for her OWLs, when she heard a lot of noise drifting up form the common room. Ugh! Some people were trying to work here! She was going to give the culprits a piece of her mind, but when she peered down the stairs, she saw the common room decorated. Oh, that's right... the indoor camp-out! Between her OWL studies and preparation for the upcoming holidays (not to mention her sixteenth birthday), Tina had completely forgotten!

She came down the stairs moments later, dressed in a faded purple shirt with a cat on the front and purple and green striped pajama bottoms. That kinda matched, right? She didn't have any slippers, so she wore a thick pair of socks on her feet. That would have to do. Her pillow and a battered matagot plush were tucked under her arm, and she carried a plastic case full of nail polish, in case the other girls (or guys too if they were into that... she wouldn't judge) wanted to do nail art. She even brought a book with her if she decided she'd rather do something by herself.

Tina's eyes widened slightly as she looked around the common room. There were a lot of people here... and the more people there were, the more unpredictable things got. The thought crossed her mind to turn back, but she decided to stay. She still didn't know her housemates well, and this seemed as good an opportunity as any to start. "Hi," she said shyly, addressing everyone at once.

She set her things on the floor to claim a spot near the fireplace - but not near enough for anything to catch fire. Then she spotted the food. Normally Tina didn't do junk food, but those cinnamon rolls looked awfully inviting! As she helped herself to one, she noticed several people had mugs of cocoa. "Can I have some cocoa too, please?" she asked. Or she could make it herself if she needed to.

Sipping on her cocoa, Nettie had watched the first round of mattress surfing with a grin. This looked REALLY fun, and it was so nice to see her classmates all out and about, interacting with one another and really making an effort to socialize with each other. Ravenclaws were bad at that, sometimes.

Smiling, she hurried up to the top of the stairs and grabbed a mattress - which was a little difficult thanks to her small size, but she managed just the same. "MY TURN!" she called out. She waited until Jackson and Caolan had cleared the way, and even though she had no one to challenge her, she didn't care. She was gonna show them how this was done! Even though...she'd never done it before.

Laying down on the mattress, she KICKED off, and WHOOSH! Down the stairs she went! Her tiny size basically had no affect on the mattress, so she went nice and fast, laughing the whole way as she got to the bottom, slowly skidding to the stop.

Before going down the stairs on a mattress, Hanna joined in to make some s'mores. She popped a finished one in her mouth and crunched it down, holding onto every sugary note with her taste buds. "S'mores are so good," she said to nobody in particular. The crunch, the sweet, the squishy. What was missing!?

"Hello Nimma," Hanna said to the little elf as she popped into the room. "Do you want a S'more too?" She was sure Nimma would say no, but didn't want to be rude and not offer.

"Hey Taddy! Your pyjamas are so coooool," she said. They really were the coolest. "Do you want a S'more?" she asked, having a few things in front of her to make more. "Anyone else want one?" she asked whoever was around. "Hey Tina," she greeted the slightly older Ravenclaw.

With S'mores done, it was time to MATTRESS SURF! She was too impatient to see who won out of Jackson and Caolan, so instead she grabbed a free mattress and raced it to the top of the stairs. She was ready to go, once the winner was declared!
