CoMC Lesson 1: Zapping Zouwu! Despite the 40 degree weather, it was actually sunny for the first day of November. Not to worry, Professor Wayland set up some warming spells around the entire area they would be working in outside of the barns. You might even get a little warm with today's activities. |
Malachi walks into the barn and looks at the teacher with a smile before nodding his head at them in greeting, still not totally used to voicing his greetings before standing next to his seat to wait for the start of the class. |
Natalie was shivering right up until she got to the barns, where she was suddenly welcomed by a heating charm. Oh, thank Merlin. That felt nice. And it was a reasonable heating charm, instead of a million degrees like the old lady who taught Charms. After a pleasant sigh, Natalie took off her gloves and plopped herself down onto a hay bale. "Hi professor," she said with a smile. That smile, though, suddenly disappeared when she realized... Care of Magical Creatures lessons were going to be quite different now. She had enjoyed them, thanks to Derf, who had always taught her that creatures were much more wonderful than she had expected. And she liked to work with Derf in these classes. But that... that was over now. After coming to that realization, Natalie sniffed, rubbed her nose and tried to shove her emotions into a dark corner of her brain where she couldn't find them while she tucked her gloves into her coat pockets. She would be okay. Right? |
Patrick walked down to the barn. He loved Care of Magical Creatures. It was one of those classes that regardless of how much weird stuff they would experience he always walked away feeling like he knew what he was doing. Today, he wasn't sure what would happen but he was ready to see. Seeing the familiar hay bails he walked further down the grass seeing two other students he hoped that the class would stay tame. He needed more tame in his life. He saw girls everywhere and was like those old cartoons where the characters eyes bugged out of their head. He rubbed his shoulder subconsciously as he sat down on one of the hay bails waiting for class. "Hi Professor Wayland." |
Holllyyyyy With a thicker jumper than usual over her shirt, thicker tights adorning her legs that her mum had helped charm before she left home and black boots that hugged her calves - Holly was more than ready for outside lessons. She had a thicker cloak to start using when it started to snow or get much colder but for now, this was perfect. Her bag was slung over her shoulders as she moved out onto the school grounds and she gave the Professor a happy smile and a wave as she got comfortable on her bale as she looked around for Alis, Jorgie or Cameron. Maybe even Taddy. Maybe. Or maybe she’d just be quiet for a whole lesson and pet some cute, fluffy creatures. “Hi, Professor.” How on earth was it November already??? But, on the upside that meant it was three weeks until her birthday! Which was always amazing and normally good fun. Or at least, as good as it could be when you were at school. |
Gunnar jogged from the castle down towards the barns in an attempt to stay relatively warm in the cool weather, and he was pleased to feel the warmth of some heating charms once he arrived. "Hello, Professor," he greeted Wayland politely with a small smile before finding a seat on one of the hay bales. He was fairly eager for class today as CoMC was one of his favorite electives, especially this year with Wayland back to teach them. |
With his trusty house scarf wrapped around his neck over his robes, Septimus made his way down to the creatures area. Time for another Care of Magical Creatures lesson and the fourth year was ready. The warmth that was becoming more noticeable as he got closer made him grateful that the nice professors of this term cared not to freeze their students. And that a certain charms professor wasn’t in charge of them. “Hello Professor,” he greeted the man once he hit the familiar circle of hay bales, the professor in question visible on his throne. He moved to take a seat on of the bales, taking out some parchment and a quill to be ready to begin. Then his eyes were flitting around the area as he tried to find some clue as to what they might be learning about this time around. |
Jackson had been feeling like luck was on his side recently and he didn't mind it one bit. The walk to class was brisk, yes, but it was refreshing. Ariving at the all too familiar set up, Jackson greeted the instructor quite cheerfully. "Hello, Professor!" And took a seat on one of the hay bales, smiling at the classmates he made eye contact with. |
Cold. Cold. Cold. Cold. Cold. The sun? In the sky? Made of lies; it was so cold and Abra was in a huge grump because of it. He had all the warming charms on his clothes, but his face still felt the cold air and it seemed to almost seep down the back of his shirt. He really, really hoped that there would be some more warming charms down at the actual lesson. Abra was in luck. The second he stepped over the boundary of the lesson area, he felt himself warm up significantly, and the relief on his face was clear. "Hello, Professor Wayland," Abra greeted his head of house as he went and found a hay bale to sit on, loosening his scarf now that he didn't really need to be quite so wrapped up. |
Creatures were one of her favorite classes, so Chloe didn't wait to get down to class. She had been ready for the cooler temperatures, but when she made it to class she noticed it was warmer than she thought it would be. Looking around at everyone already there Chloe smiled and waved to everyone. "Hi Professor, how are you today?" Now where to sit, that was her next goal, to sit by someone different. She wanted to meet new people and be friends with more, so she looked the seats over and grinned walking over towards the Slytherin captain, "Mind if I sit here near you?" |
The sun might've been out but Lucas was still wrapped up warm. The sun wasn't helping; it still felt colder than normal and he would've liked to stay inside where it was warm and cosy and he could sit by the fireplace, instead. But he was walking outside and the only thing keeping him going was the thought of a lesson he really did like. And even better? It was WARM here! A small beam spread across the young boy's face and he let out a small sigh of relief as he stepping into the area of the lesson. The warm area with hay bales to sit on and no wind (he hoped!). "Hello, Professor," he said, giving the man a smile before moving over to a spare hay bale to perch himself up on. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad. |
Saying hi to Lucas and Abra! Br... br... and br... agin The sun seems to be playing with them again, while it was out and shining, it didn't make it warmer. Despite it being cold she wasn't going to miss one of her favorite classes here at Hogwarts! Now that Professor Wayland was back, she was sure this was going to be a good lesson. Bundled up she skipped happily down towards the barn for a great lesson of Care of Magical Creatures. Wrapping her Gryffindor scarf around her keeping the cold air that was trying to nip at her. Despite it being November it sure was chilly, it's not your turn yet winter! Walking up towards Professor Wayland and the hay bales she smiled and sighed in relief as warmness surrounded yer. "Hello Professor, hope you're well " with anothdf smile she took her seat on a hay bale beside Lucas. Hi Lucas!" she said giving him a smile before she seen Abra and waved at him. " Hi Abra!" That was all the people she knew really, but hey she was always willing to make new friends. |
Indigo didn't actually mind the weather. It wasn't that cold. At least it wasn't snowing. Still, the warming charm that he felt as he approached the barn was welcome. Even if the temperature wasn't too bad, he'd probably start to feel it after being outside in it for a long period of time. He glanced around, but there wasn't really anything indicating what would be going on in this lesson. There were no creatures already waiting for them. Unless they were invisible. The area around the barn looked exactly like it did for every other lesson, so Indigo had no guesses. "Hello Professor," he greeted. Indigo wasn't particularly drawn to any of the people currently present so he took a seat on the edge of the semi circle of hay bales and waited for the lesson to start. |
Torii shivered as she walked out toward the place the lesson would be held. Must they have outdoor lessons when it was so cold outside? She shivered a second time, but as she got closer to the area set aside for class, she felt the comfort of a warming charm. The fourth year drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly, enjoying the sudden change in temperature. "Hello, Professor!" she said, as she chose a hay bale at random. She listened as a few of her classmates greeted one another and found spots by friends. It made her homesick, and she wished she had already found a group of friends of her own. She sighed again as she watched a few more people arrive. Wonder what they'd be learning about today? |
He still wasn't sure how to feel about his favorite class here at Hogwarts considering things. Or, well, perhaps he should say his favorite subject since that was a more accurate wording. At least Professor Wayland was back to grinning again? He felt like it had been...a while. But no matter the external circumstances, it was hard to dampen this Hufflepuff's mood at being outside and with the opportunity to handle creatures. And handle them under the guidance of someone who didn't experiment on them. "Good day, Professor Wayland," Derf greeted cheerfully, a smile actually reaching his eyes for once as he made his way over towards the hay bales to sit. Quote:
"Hey," he greeted as he plopped down and itched the back of his right hand, AGAIN not thinking any of this through or what awkwardness would soon follow. He was in his zone. His safe space. Everything was fiiiiiiiiiine here. |
Care of Magical Creatures should be one of Chloe Kettleburn's favorite classes, but as she made her way down to the barn and the ever present pile of hay bales, she found the subject left a bit of a bad taste in her mouth. Not the creatures, those were still lovely. And not the professor, since it wasn't his fault that his replacement last year was a sadistic creep. But she couldn't forget everything that had happened. Her tone was somber as she gave the professor a nod. "Good day to you, sir. I hope we're in for a good one today." She scratched at her arm through her sleeve and opted not take a seat on a hay bale. Must be developing some sort of allergy to the stuff, but it was annoying. |
The weather hardly bothered the newly of-age blonde as Stasya had made her way out to the barns for the next CoMC lesson. For one, she spent enough time making the same walk just for visits that it really hadn’t surprised her, and for another, she was well-prepared. Layers did wonders, along with the protection her jeans and boots provided on the walk over. Gryffindor scarf wrapped securely around her neck, prefect badge pinned to it both for identification and ease of hiding if they were going to be dealing with nifflers. Anything was possible with Professor Wayland, and she loved it. Besides, she’d suspected there’d be warming charms, and she’d grinned as she felt them as soon as she got close enough to the familiar sight of the haybales. It was nice to know she could expect things again. “Hi Professor Wayland,” she called out as she settled on a haybale near his throne, sending smiles to Abra, Lucas, Stella, Derf and Chloe as she got comfortable. “How’s Ash doing today?” She imagined the phoenix was warm enough, but deserved the thoughts anyway. |
You know what was great about cold weather? Having really high blood sugar all the time. This was not fun at all.The twelve year old had bundled up in a warm coat and boots for the trek down to the barns area for care of magical creatures class. Usually, she enjoyed learning about and working with the animals, but Cordelia wasn’t really feeling it today. Right now she was feeling more tired and cranky than excited. Thirsty too, so thirsty. She took some consolation in the fact that it was warmer once she reached the area outside the barn where the lesson was to be held. ”Professor,” she curtly greeted the man as she arrived. Taking a seat on a hay bale, Cordelia pulled out her water bottle from her bag. She twisted the cap off and raised the bottle to her lips. Tipping her head back, she could feel the cold liquid trickling down her throat in her quest to quench her insatiable thirst. Screwing the cap back on, Cordelia put the water bottle down so she could take off her coat. She pulled out her blood sugar testing kit, stuck a clean strip in her meter, pricked her finger, squeezed a drop of blood onto the strip, waited a few seconds to see the number, and shoved the whole kit back into her bag. Licking the remaining blood off her finger with no shame, Cordelia pulled her insulin pump out of her pocket and made some adjustments for it to deliver more insulin. When she was done, she returned it to her pocket. Now, whatever Professor Wayland had for them today had better be something cute and fuzzy. Or a unicorn. Cordelia still hadn’t seen a unicorn yet. She really needed to ask Professor Wayland sometime if there was any chance of her ever being able to see a real unicorn. Unicorns were her favorite. Things that liked cuddles would also be accepted. |

And she thought she was hallucinating. 'Hey.' ..... How... casual. As if... nothing had happened. As if they hadn't just broken up the longest winded not-relationship ever to exist which was followed by hours of Natalie crying into her pillow. This was the first day that she had gotten her eyelids back down to a normal size and color. And he said.... hey. Not totally convinced that she wasn't dreaming, Natalie continued to stare at him, realizing her heart was pounding as loud as a pair of hippogriff wings. "..... Hi." she finally said, somewhat quietly, somewhat timidly. Then she looked back up towards the Professor, trying to... process what was happening. |
Bundled up as much as possible, Archer made her way to the barnyard (HA!) for class, scratching at a place on her arm, despite all the anti-itch cream she'd used. Was it her sweater making her itchy? At this point, who knew, but it was one of those things that were seriously annoying. Not annoying though was the state of her hair. It was looking fuller and thicker than ever. She'd always had nice hair, don't get her wrong, but now it was ridiculous how nice it looked. Whatever was causing it, she'd have to figure out, so she could keep doing it. She was so proud of her hair, she had forgone any head covering, just so she could show it off. Vain? Possibly, but damn Gina! "Hey, professor!" she greeted, before plopping down on a hay bale. Please, everyone, pay attention to her awesomely epic hair and not the itching of her arm. |
sitting next to Cordelia? Ahhhh, cold. Harri was not a big fan of the cold although she liked bundling herself up in lots and lots of scarves, like what she had done today before making her way over to the barns: three scarves on top of each other that it covered half of her face and unkempt hair. Arriving there though, the three scarves proved to be quite excessive because it was warm. Ehhhh. Well, she supposed she would have to use those three scarves again after class. But for now, as she greeted the man on the hay throne, "Hi, Professor!" and headed to sit next to her dorm mate Cordelia, she was going to remove the scarves one by one. She placed her scarves on her lap as she continued unbundling herself. Then scratched at her nose. Then proceeded to get excited because it was Care of Magical Creatures! |

She looked over at Professor Wayland and took a moment, reflecting on things, before she offered a half-wave gesture. "Hello professor." She wasn't so sure about the previous term and everything that had gone on, but.... she was open-minded, and she had missed Wayland's lessons. Quite a lot actually. |
Creatures! One of her favorite lessons that was for sure. With a warming charm already cast upon herself before even stepping foot outside on the grounds, Rylee was nice and toasty as she made her way over towards the barn. "Hello, Professor Wayland!" she chirped excitedly as she drew closer to the semi circle of hay bales. Her emotions were still running sky high and as of lately nothing had been able to get this ginger haired girl down and it showed. Sitting on the first empty hay bale, she set her bag down on the ground between her feet. What creature would they be learning about today? That blackboard there held no clues whatsoever! |
Nettie looked adorable today, if she did say so herself. She had her adorable little red jacket on, a headband, and ballet flats, despite the fact that it was a little chilly out. She knew that Professor Wayland would make them comfortable, though, so she wasn't worried about dressing up a bit and being cold. As soon as she entered the area where the lesson was being held, she was pleased to see she had been right. She took her hat off and looked around for a spot to sit. Quote:
She paused for a second and looked around, spotting Natalie and Derf sitting nearby looking SUPER awkward. What was going on there? Hmm. |
Tina wrapped her Ravenclaw scarf a little tighter around her neck as she made her way to thecreatures barn. The weather didn't bother her much. She'd made sure to dress warmly, and her brisk walking pace helped keep her warm. In fact. she was starting to feel a little too warm as she stepped into the barn. Must be a warming charm in place... thankfully one that didn't turn the barn into an oven! "Hello, Professor," Tina greeted as she took off her beanie and put it in her bag. She smiled a little at the sight of his mug. "I like your mug." Did the presence of that paeticular mug mean they were learning about phoenixes today? It was the only thing Tina saw that could possibly be a clue... unless there was some invisible creature lurking about right under everyone's noses. Tina sat on the nearest hay bale and waited for the lesson to start. Hay bales, really? Professor Wayland seemed like an okay guy Couldn't he put a bench out here or something? |
