Staff Table

https://s26.postimg.cc/7rvtkzno9/staff-table-banner.jpg
On a raised dais situated at the farthest point from the Great Hall stands a long table where the members of the Hogwarts staff sit and enjoy their meal while casting a watchful eye out on the four House tables. Each staff member has an assigned cushioned chair to sit on throughout the duration of the feast, though the more notable out of them all is the throne-like golden chair in the centre reserved for the headmaster.

Keep in mind that you should not be wandering up to the staff table if you are not a staff member before Headmaster Scrimgeour has delivered his speech. Doing so will result in the last-minute loss of points or worse before you even made it on the Hogwarts Express. If you wish to speak with someone who is seated up here, you will have to wait until after the speech has been said and there is food and drink on all of the tables. Make sure to keep your visit brief though -- the staff were also waiting on the food to appear and are just as hungry as you.

Julian Scrimgeour 12-02-2018 02:49 PM

The end of the term was finally upon them. In all honesty, Scrimgeour was glad for it. It had been a long, strenuous term full of many surprises, and he was able to see the true colours of the many that roamed within its walls. He had much to think about over the summer on how to keep Hogwarts on the path to being great again.

Progress, there was much of it yet to be made. He knew exactly who what needed to go before next term began, what needed to still be implemented, and much more.

But the old man was setting all of that aside for now. A short break was needed, and he was going to start that with one last feast before the brats of Hogwarts and the handful of students returned home for the summer.

With every few steps he took, a low grunt escaped his mouth. The sound likely echoed in the empty hall, but that didn't matter to him. He arrived on his way until he was seated in his throne, his cold eyes gazing out at the doors of the dining hall, carefully watching and waiting as he tugged gently on his white beard.

Nordic Witch 12-02-2018 05:02 PM

His first year of teaching was finally drawing to a close. It had been a very though year with many ups and downs and even situations Joshua had been enraged by especially lately. A fellow professor had raised his wand against and attacked students, students they were there to teach and foster, not hurt.

Clad in a somber navy blue suit for the evening the Herbology Professor entered through the great double oak doors and slowly made his way past the empty student tables and towards the staff dais. Scrimegour was already seated in his thronelike chair Joshua noted as he came up on the right side of the dais. He nodded politely to the Headmaster and greeted "Good evening Headmaster Scrimegour!" before he took his seat. Hopefully his colleagues would be arriving soon enough.

Gustave Le Roux 12-02-2018 07:51 PM

Guatave slowly entered the great hall and looked around, it had been an interesting year and he wasn’t exactly sure how he felt about it all. It was definitely a change from Beauxbatons, that was for sure.

He made his way to his seat, clothed entirely in a black suit with a black cape sitting on his shoulders. His icy blue eyes looked out onto the empty tables before he turned his head and gave a nod to the two people sitting there. The headmaster and that wimp Wishart.

He didn’t say anything to them, merely nodded his head in respect and then settled down into his seat.

Goblinfrog 12-02-2018 09:09 PM

Outwardly, the meditating professor was serene. Inwardly, she was full of dread and wished this feast would end as quickly and uneventfully as possible. It all came down to the suspicion that she had no friends and that every one of her colleagues either hated her or looked down at her. All the year long she had worked tirelessly to enforce Julian's rules - despite being hired by Regina. She could not blame Regina's loyalists for not liking her. It was childlike, but she understood it. What she had not been expecting was how exclusionary and sadistic Julian's men would be. She had tried befriending Rafferty...and had come away humiliated and enraged. She had tried to impress Julian, which at first seemed to work...until she had warned that Professor Petrov's behavior could develop into a scandal if reported by the Daily Prophet - and he had actually thought she was threatening him! Despite everything she had done for him, he threatened to fire her. She had never felt so betrayed in her entire adult life.

Gone were her standard white Yoga robes. In their place were robes identical to her other robes in every way but the colour. Black. Blacker than the blackest night. Black that was so black it made it look as if she had torn a piece of fabric from the abyss and covered her original robes with it. Fitting, considering the bitterness she now felt towards many of her colleagues.

"Good evening, Sir Headmaster," she said, inclining her head respectfully to Julian. "Good evening, Professors Wishart, Le Roux. I hope the three of you are content." A polite turn to each of them as well.

There were only two people in this castle she truly loved, and only one of them returned her affections. Knowing this made her feel colorless and cold.

Calvin Fletcher 12-02-2018 11:25 PM

Circe it was finally over. Calvin didn’t know about anyone else but he for one was happy to be sending the brats home for the long holiday. It seemed that no matter what measure was put in place, some of them remained difficult to instruct. It was all that wilful teenage angst that made a man like him grateful for the summer.

A part of him considered the struggle that would restart in September and how many more...evaluations and changes would need to take place but one thing at a time.

In these last days, the majority gained the tendency to forget themselves, staff and students alike. A break from the unnecessary temper tantrums and childish retaliations—again on both sides—would allow him a moment to breathe and regroup. Approaching the dais, Scrimgeour was the only one to get any real form of greeting in the form of a verbal “Headmaster.” The others were lucky if a nod was sent in their direction. He hadn’t made friends this term and now wasn’t the time to start.

The Divination Professor eased into his seat beside the boss man, slouching slightly in his direction. “One more night before we can pack them up on that ancient locomotive and send them off.” And he had the feeling it would be a long night. Just a feeling.

Aleksandur Petrov 12-03-2018 04:57 AM

Alek, his sweet Hera at his neck as always, strode quietly into the great hall, making his way toward the staff table. He couldn't be happier that the term was over. These children were a bunch of....well he didn't need to think about that right now. This was a celebration after all.

He quickly made his way to his seat, nodding to all of his colleagues and saying a quiet, "Evening, Headmaster," as he went. Soon enough he was at his chair next to La Roux, giving a small nod to the Frenchman.

He really couldn't wait to get this bloody night over with.

Birchwoodmom 12-03-2018 05:40 AM

He had never been so happy for a school year to end. In all of his years as Ilvermorny, he never once felt joyous over getting to leave for the summer. One year at Hogwarts had changed him in ways he never expected.

Foster forced a smile on his face and continued towards the staff table. Scrimgeour was already there, unfortunately, as was Fletcher and the even more unpleasant Le Roux and Petrov. His extreme dislike for Fletcher was only slightly less than it was for the other three due to his removing Ainsworth from the Great Hall after he had attacked the students.

Once he was close enough to the table, he gave a semi polite nod to the members of Sceimgeour's tribe before making a quick stop in front of Alice and Joshua. "Professor O'Hara, you are looking lovely this evening. The black robes really make your eyes pop." He gave her a kind smile before addressing his friend. "Josh, it has been quite the year. It's been a pleasure working with you."

Once he had finished, he made his way around to the other side of the table and took his seat near the end, hoping Katrina would arrive soon.

PhoenixRising 12-03-2018 09:52 AM

It was done or it was only beginning? Katrina only hoped that Miss Nora had been successful with her endeavors that fateful night when she disappeared from the castle grounds. Regardless she was never more grateful for summer months. While she quite enjoyed getting to meet her niece and her friends, the woman realized she missed the thrill and adventures that came with cursebreaking.

A brief nod as Scrimgeour and Fletcher and Gustave, none of which she'd gotten to know so much, which she didn't care either, the dark-haired woman, sans headscarf tonight, carefully slid into her seat at the end. And a nod and smile down for Joshua and Alice too.

"Evening Professor Davis," she said to her one meal partner. "We survived"

Rafferty Ainsworth 12-03-2018 10:07 PM

Would Rafferty have brought a chilliness with him to the Hall if he could? Definitely. This professor was in no mood for this foolish feast. Why could they not just send the students away tonight itself? Rafferty ignored the Regina hired staff when he reached the table.Headmaster. Petrov, Le Roux. Good evening.’’ Rafferty began making his way down to his end of the table. Extra care was made to ignore Davis and Wishart. He loathed all the Regina hired professors. Davis was on top of that list. Without a single word of greeting, Rafferty took his seat beside O'Hara. How he wished this could be over with now.

MadMadamMalfoy 12-04-2018 01:06 PM

The night Gaston had dreaded for weeks was here... his last night at Hogwarts. Usually the end-of-term feast brought a storm of emotions with it,
but this time he wasn't sure how to feel. A part of him was relieved to go home to Rose and Desiree and finally say goodbye to this sadistic regime, but that also meant saying goodbye to his beloved students... and not just the graduating 7th years. This time he was saying goodbye to all of them.

He hadn't wanted to come to the feast tonight. It wasn't as if his presence would somehow make Scrimgeour think better of him and save his job. He knew it was only a matter of time before his emotions caught up to him, and he was in no mood to be mocked for his vulnerability. Still, he owed it to his students to spend this time with them. He took a deep breath; he couldn't put it off any longer.

Gaston walked into the Great Hall for the final time, feeling every bit as lost as he was the first time. Like a few of his colleagues, he wore black, but tiny red pinstripes stood out against the dark background of his suit; he had a tie to match, burning red like his hatred of this regime. "Good evening, all," he said, and by all, he meant all who don't align themselves with Scrimgeour. He had nothing to say to henchmen.

He took his usual seat, surrounded by not one but two evils on either side. Could he please switch seats with somebody, anybody? These four set his teeth on edge, especially Petrov. He didn't feel safe being in such close proximity to him after the tent incident, and having him on his blind side made matters worse. "Foster, Katrina, do either of you have any summer plans?" he asked, turning his head to his right. He wasn't much in a talkative mood, but the conversation would provide a way to keep an eye on Petrov and hopefully distract him from the impending onslaught of emotions.

hermygirl 12-06-2018 03:43 AM

Noble was never one for tardiness; not for himself, not in his classroom. Today though, he found himself one of the last to arrive at the staff table, and unusually, he was at peace with this. That didn't mean to say his was in a celebratory mood, however. Dressed in classic cut black robes and a golden yellow scarf draped open around his neck, his brow was furrowed in thought as strode down the middle aisle. A certain delinquent Hufflepuff ignoring the uniform regulations should probably consider themselves lucky...for now, at least.

"Good evening," he greeted his colleagues as a collective as he reached the staff table, "Headmaster." He gave a slight nod to the latter, before moving to take his seat next to Ainsworth.

One word to describe his mood tonight? Conflicted.

Julian Scrimgeour 12-06-2018 11:01 AM

The beard stroking stopped when the professors starting making their way up to the dais, most of which were surprisingly on time. His face remained as it usually did, stoic as ever.

Both Wishart and Le Roux received nods of acknowledgement, as did O'Hara when she arrived. The Herbology professor he didn't have much to say about, Le Roux was the quiet type, and the old man wasn't sure about O'Hara these days.

Fletcher, though, received more than just a nod. Considering he was his righthand man, even if it was 'unofficial' on paper. "We can only hope the night goes quickly. And without any trouble," he responded with a grunt.

Then Petrov received a nod in response to his greeting, as did Davis, Sabra, and Ainsworth. When Marchand made an appearance, the headmaster completely avoided making eye-contact with the man and instead looked out to the students that were coming in, only to be displeased with a particular student's attire and decision to stick out like a sore thumb.

Fortunately their Head of House had just shown up. Scrimgeour nodded in response to the greeting but then stated, "You had better go control one of your Hufflepuffs before I do." It was bad enough the Potions master had walked past the girl and didn't do anything about it.

In fact... "If you see any student wearing anything but their uniform," he informed the Heads, "tell them to leave the Great Hall and change. If they refuse to change, then they can leave without a meal and instead run laps on their last night." And if they thought they could sneak to the kitchens, they'd be disappointed - the elves were ordered not to feed any student, not to mention the no-food-outside-the-Great-Hall-and-kitchens rule was still in place.

The man then sat in his seat in silence, giving the Heads the chance to actually do their jobs and control the children who thought they could rebel tonight and get away with it. If the adults proved incompetent, well, that would be reflected over the summer.

After several minutes had gone by, the man rose from his seat and made his way over to the podium. "Rise." Those ice blue eyes of his were watching and remembering faces. There was plenty of time for running laps if that was how disobedient students wanted to spend their last night of school.

"The term has come to an end," the man began, his eyes looking from student to student. "I cannot deny that the term started off rocky, though I can attest to progress being made." Scrimgeour paused before carrying on with his speech. "Though there is still a long way to go for Hogwarts. I hope many of you take think about how you can contribute to that progress, especially if you are returning to us next term." Respect and obedience - though he didn't say it, that was all the man wanted.

"Being leaders in contributing to progress this term" - for the most part - "was Ravenclaw House, which is why they are the recipients of the House Cup. Their efforts have earned them one thousand, three hundred, and twenty-three points, causing them to win by a landslide. I hope the other Houses take a leaf out of their book next term."

The man didn't applaud. He just kept on speaking.

"For those not returning to use next year due to graduating, I hope that your education here as done you well and that you contribute positively to wizarding society, whatever path you decide to choose."

With that said, the headmaster walked away from the podium and made his way back to his seat. Two metal fingers were snapped when he was at his chair and then sat down as the drinks and food appeared. "You may be seated."

Except those who decided to not stand wouldn't be sitting very long. He'd be sending someone after them or grace them with his own presence soon enough.

With one mealmate not in attendance meaning Haraladur, Joshua turned his attention to Alice by his other side with a small smile. He felt he had maybe not spoken to her enough these past months. "Good evening Alice! You look pretty. We got through the year! My first year of teaching was interesting i must say...." Joshua sincerely hoped that the BoG had taken his and Foster's letter seriously and taken appropriate action.

He wouldn't say anything out loud since Joshua had Scrimegour practically next to him , but he would be glad when he could leave for summer and spend it without Scrimegour and his tribe of hateful goons. When his mate Foster stopped in front of him Joshua smiled and nodded. "Foster, yes it's been quite an interesting and eventful year. It has been a big pleasure to work with you. I hope we can keep in touch over the summer and maybe meet in Diagon Alley?" Joshua had come to rely on Foster for teaching advice and someone to vent things to. They had in a short time become good friends and he wanted to keep building on that relationship.

Joshua was mildly surprised that he even got a nod of acknowledgement out of Scrimegour. He usually got ignored moreso off late since he and Foster had stopped Ainsworth and Le Roux's wrong doing against the students. Never in his short teaching experience had he thought he'd see a professor raise his wand and cast spells at students to hurt them and the fury he had felt inwardly because of it.

Joshua kept silent when Scrimegour adressed the heads of houses and mainly Noble. He rose to listen attentively to Scrimegours speech but he wished it could go quickly since he was hungry. When the speech was over he sat and began helping himself to the feast food.

Rafferty Ainsworth 12-07-2018 02:28 AM

Was Rafferty bored? You could say that with one hundred percent certainty. The others around him continued to get the cold shoulder from him. It was best no one bother him. When Scrimgeour mentioned that they keep an eye out on rule breakers when it came to uniforms Rafferty nodded. Those cold eyes came to a rest on the Ravenclaw table. Color him eager to punish someone...

Rafferty got to his feet for the speech. His House had won but did he care? Not in the least. Every word from Julian was focused on. Naturally he agreed with each word. Speech done, Rafferty took his seat once more. He was carefully looking at the occupants of the Ravenclaw table still.

Zoe 12-07-2018 12:49 PM

Stepping onto the dais, Regina reached into her pocket and took out a number of envelopes. Her face remained expressionless as she approached the recipients, though internally she was smiling from ear to ear. It had taken a lot of work to get to this point.

Her first stop was to Rafferty Ainsworth. She then made her way over to the opposite end of the table, starting first with Gustave Le Roux and then Aleksandur Petrov. The woman didn't linger on these men for very long, eye contact wasn't even made. She cared not for them. All she cared about was watching them leave once and for all.

A few mentions

Perhaps her pessimism on how her colleagues viewed her was a little over the top. That's what it sort of seemed like after two separate professors gave her polite greetings. "Why thank you, Foster. You don't look quite bad yourself." She gave a polite smile and dipped her head graciously in his direction, her gaze following him until he moved to sit down. Next year she would try to befriend him.

Just then, Rafferty walked up to the table and sat down next to her - without so much as a word of greeting. Typical! Out of all of Julian's minions, Rafferty was the one who seemed to look down on her the most. Just thinking of his complete lack of politeness towards her (and this, after all she done to enforce Julian's rules and try to present herself as an ally) filled her with rage. But she wasn't going to say anything. Instead, she inclined herself as far away from him as she could while still remaining in her chair. She didn't even LOOK at him.

Her turning away from Rafferty meant she had to look at Joshua the whole time. That was okay, he was addressing her and trying to be nice. He might think it was weird that she was inclined so much in his direction, or maybe he knew that it was so she didn't have to look at Rafferty. "Why thank you, Joshua," she said in response to his comment on her appearance. "My first year was interesting too...not exactly what I expected, but interesting. I am very much looking forward to this break, though. It will be good to get away from some people." She glanced disdainfully at Rafferty before turning her attention back at Joshua. "You will be back same as me next year, right?" She asked it half-jokingly, but she would SCREAM if she had to endure a year being stuck with just people like Rafferty.

The headmaster's speech began soon. She rose obediently when he ordered them too, but her expression was lifeless. Originally she had thought that a person like Julian was just what the notoriously chaotic Hogwarts needed. That was why she had been so loyal - that, and not wanting to be fired. Now she wasn't so sure, not after seeing students brutalized and not after being threatened with firing.

Then...

Regina appeared.

Alice stared in shock as the former headmistress (the one who had actually hired her to begin with) starting handing out letters to all of the men hired by Julian, and finally to Julian himself. Alice was not stupid. It only took her a few moments to guess what was happening. But was it really??? Alice stared into the former headmistress's eyes, trying to determine what they were saying. She looked happy. This could only mean one thing...

She swerved in her chair to be facing Rafferty. He had a letter too. "What does your letter say?" she demanded, inclining towards him to see.

Catching up and moving a Noble!

There was always one, wasn't there? You'd think tonight of all nights would be a good time to practice the school motto - to let sleeping dragons lie - and ensure they got home on time and in one piece. But no. And he couldn't even say he was surprised when he saw who it was so blatantly breaking the rules. Sterling just had to think she was better than everyone else.

Well, she wasn't.

Noble nodded at the Headmaster's words, a grumble already in his throat and a scowl on his lips. "Consider it sorted," he said. How he was going to sort it, he didn't specify. Nor did he give much of a reaction to the offered punishment for rule breakers, instead pushing back his chair and heading down to his house table, wand appearing in his hand from its holster.

If he was stuck down there for the speech too, then so be it. He was in no rush to eat.

Aleksandur Petrov 12-08-2018 04:58 AM

"Ainsworth." Alek said with a nod when the other man greeted him. He couldn't wait to get this night over with and head home to Bulgaria for the summer. He didn't want to be around these children or this school for more than he had to be.

As the Headmaster made his way to the podium, he stood and listened to the man's speech. Nodding at all the appropriate places. As he listened, he ran a finger over Hera's scaly body around his neck, wondering how much longer the man would be talking. He was so glad when the words 'be seated' we said, and he sat promptly down. He was ridiculously hungry. He hadn't done this much animal wrangling since he left Durmstrang and his appetite had grown immensely since he'd come to Hogwarts.

Though very soon after the speech was over, the doors to the great hall were thrown open and a very beautiful woman walked through them. He wasn't sure who she was. He watched as she made her way towards the staff table, handing letters to each of the new Professors...the new Professors hired by Scrimgeour that is. He looked up at her when she handed him his, and took it slowly from her.

He swiftly opened the letter, fumbling a little as he pulled it out of the envelope. He read through it three times before it sunk in. An angry sneer passed his lips.

Fired. Because of insolent little bratty children. They were exactly why he had left the education field.

Alek took a deep breath, placed his hands on either side of the table, and pushed his chair back, standing up as he went. He straightened his robes before giving the entire room a look of disgust, turned on his heel and made a beeline for the doors of the Great Hall. He wasn't going to waste another minute of his time here if he didn't have to.

Gustave Le Roux 12-08-2018 05:05 AM

Le Roux barely noticed his colleagues settling down around him, the Frenchman was rather lost in his thoughts and he was grateful that no one seemed to mention him. Though he was roused slightly as Petrov sat down next to him.

He had to admit it was rather unnerving to have a snake sitting so close to his person. He wasn’t too fond of the creatures, and so he sort of scooted his chair farther away from the other man.

He sighed as he stood up during the speech, his icy blue eyes just staring out into nothingness really. He had really checked out of this whole place and was just going through the motions at the moment. He was missing his home and couldn’t wait to get back to France this summer. He had somewhere to visit.

Usually he wasn’t so sentimental, but maybe being so far away..

Anyways, as he settled back down he noticed a striking woman walk up to the table and lay a letter in front of him. His blue eyes looked down at it for a moment before his long, thin fingers reached for it and opened it.

A slight frown settled on his features as he skimmed the contents of the letter, and without a word or any other flicker of emotion, he too stood and pushed back his chair, and made his way out of the hall.

*rearranges slightly*Scattered mentions

It didn't surprise Gaston in the slightest that Scrimgeour avoided eye contact, nor was it lost on him that he was the only one who hadn't at least received a nod of acknowledgement. He may be half blind, but he wasn't stupid! If that was how Scrimgeour wanted to be, fine; it didn't matter to him. He despised the headmaster at least twice as much as he did him. The silence just saved him the trouble of pretending to be polite to the old fool. Instead, he focused his attention on the house tables. As the students started filing in, the reality of Gaston's situation hit home, and a sudden wave of sadness crashed over him. His time with his beloved students was running out. In a matter of hours, he would be walking out of their lives forever, and he was powerless to stop it. Seems to be an ongoing pattern, he thought bitterly. It seemed there were a lot of things he'd been powerless to stop this term... and now he wouldn't even have the chance to set things right. If only he had a time-turner...

He swallowed hard and set his jaw, determined not to fall apart while surrounded by Scrimgeour's cronies. They didn't deserve the satisfaction! Luckily, Noble's appearance and the happenings at the Hufflepuff table distracted Gaston from his overwhelming emotions. "Good evening, Ignatius," he greeted the older man, returning his nod. Bright blue eyes widened in shock and concern at the sight of fire at the Hufflepuff table. The thought crossed Gaston's mind to intervene, but Hufflepuff was Noble's jurisdiction; he would let him handle it.

Scrimgeour's ideas for punishment were met with a glare. Thankfully, Mr. Gray was the only Gryffindor Gaston had seen out of uniform so far, but it didn't matter if it was one student or one hundred. He was not letting the old man subjugate his Lions! "No," he said flatly. "I'll tell them to change and hand out a punishment that fits the crime, but my Gryffindors will not be starving and - quite literally - running themselves ragged for you, Headmaster." He had no issue with enforcing rules, as long as it was done fairly, but this was not. A sudden terrible thought occurred to him, and he added, "I'll gladly take the laps you intended tor anyone who refuses to change." What was the old man going to do, fire him? He was as good as gone anyway...

Before Gaston could see to any uniform violations, the headmaster's speech happened. He rose when instructed, not out of respect for the metal-armed maniac seated two chairs to his left but out of respect for the students. He had to fight the urge to roll his eyes at Scrimgeour's opening remarks. He was done contributing to this tyrant's idea of progress! When Ravenclaw's victory was announced, he nearly applauded but decided against it, lest it make Ainsworth feel self-important. It was the students' win and Kaysha's, not his. He would personally congratulate them later. At the mention of the seventh years, Gaston looked out at the house tables, and a pang of sadness gripped his heart. This was the class he started his Hogwarts career with;it seemed poignant that it was also the class he ended with. Food soon appeared on the table, but he was too emotional to eat.He absentmindedly pushed his food around with his fork, silently brooding over the sacrifices he made this term and where it got him.

Gaston was beginning to lose hope that he would see the end of this regime when Regina appeared. He smiled, giving her a polite nod of acknowledgement. He had never been so glad to see the woman in his life! He watched with a mixture of satisfaction and apprehension as the letters were handed out, poised to defend if Scrimgeour or his followers decided to put up a fight. Le Roux's frown and Petrov's sneer were met with a triumphant grin, and Gaston couldn't resist throwing in a sarcastic wave as they left. See ya later, subjugators! Hopefully Scrimgeour and the other two minions would follow soon. Gaston still had something very important to do before he the feast ended!

Calvin Fletcher 12-08-2018 01:50 PM

He could certainly get behind an uneventful feast. Didn't seem likely, and even Scrimgeour giving his speech uprooted a few of them. Did he want to lead laps tonight? No but at this rate it seemed likely.

Last night. It was the last night. Was sitting and eating their dinner, following simple instructions for one more night really that difficult? His lips formed into a hard line. At least Noble was going to take care of the yellow problem that had persisted throughout the term.

The sight of Regina walking through the hall caused him to straighten a little in his seat. Her approach at the dais earned the faintest raise of his brows, one that went higher at the letter extended to him. Calvin spared a glance at Scrimgeour before taking it. Was this something the man knew about? Planned? He hadn't mentioned it in passing at any point. Slowly, almost lazily, his eyes scanned the parchment but they picked up once he caught the gist.

Huh.

Again he glanced to Scrimgeour. He'd gotten a letter too. Unexpected then, or otherwise unwilling to say anything until necessary. It was hard to tell in the moment. Regardless, the man did rise from his seat to make a "quiet" exit as the letter had suggested. He didn't agree with the decision, but pitching a fit and acting like the very teenagers he'd been trying to keep in line wasn't the answer. He would gather his things. That was the only option he had in the moment.

Calvin headed down the aisle, looking neither to the left or to the right. He would leave with his dignity, what was left of it.

Julian Scrimgeour 12-08-2018 03:06 PM

If looks could kill, Scrimgeour's eyes glaring right at Marchand would have. The man's response was uncalled for and very unprofessional. He had given an order and that was that. "You will do exactly as I say, Marchand," he grunted, so done with the man who decided to speak up now when quite frankly it was too late. "The punishment is final, and you will see to it. Otherwise you can leave immediately and I will take care of it myself since you're too incompetent to follow simple orders and set an example."

If only Marchand would take a leaf out of Noble's book. The man was already up and out of his seat. Rules were rules, and they all would be getting the same consequence for breaking with on purpose. If the students wanted to evade going hungry and running laps, it was very easy to do so. He was, out of the goodness of his cold heart, giving them one last chance to correct themselves.

But, of course, some weren't taken advantage of that. Faces and names were already in his mind as he returned to his seat after giving his speech. He had plans to wrangle up the ones that had late-night laps to run, and he'd be starting with the Gryffindor table. But first he was going to fill his stomach, which wouldn't take any time at all.

He picked up his fork ... only to set it down when the doors of the Great Hall opened and the woman he had fired at the beginning of the term appeared. Scrimgeour's eyes narrowed. What was this all about?

Letter after letter was given out, and then he was given one was well. For a moment, the old man remained stiff in his seat, with no intent to move. But, begrudgingly, the metallic hand reached out for the envelope she was carrying and ripped it open.

Recently the Board has received a number of student accounts and a formal staff complaint... His eyes shot over to Marchand first and then the others. Betrayal.

The rest of the letter, however, he skimmed over. Yes, Ainsworth and Petrov hexed children. Scrimgeour couldn't deny that. But the Board clearly failed to see how the children were behaving all term, how certain staff members were encouraging that behaviour, and that he had taken care of the situation rather swiftly once it had come to his attention. But, of course, the Board was going to side with rule-breaking students and incompetent staff members.

Then so be it.

The man rose from his chair, following his hires, and then stated loud enough for everyone up at the dais to hear, "If you think this will solve the problems here at Hogwarts, think again. Students who have no understanding of respect and obedience, staff who don't follow protocol and allow students to get away with breaking rules, and a lack of structure and consequences will get this place nowhere."

One last grunt sounded from Scrimgeour and he made his exit.

Rafferty Ainsworth 12-08-2018 04:05 PM

Did Rafferty’s cold eyes deceive him? No they bloody well did not. He stared and stared at Regina Hawthorne. What was she doing here? How dare she come back? Rafferty was outraged. It would have shown when she appeared by his side first. She didn’t spare him a look but he did for her. It was more of a glare. The letter was snatched from her. Rafferty began to unfurl it briefly registering that Scrimgeour, Petrov and Le Roux had received one each.

Rafferty quickly read the contents. When he was done he let out a low growl and squashed the letter with his hand. This school was occupied by nothing but blabbermouths and incompetent students. “Mind your own business,’’’ Rafferty rudely snapped to Alice. Following his colleagues who had received letters too Rafferty got to his feet.

He refused to meet anyone’s eyes as he angrily stomped out of the Great Hall.

Zoe 12-08-2018 10:04 PM

Her eyes were still locked on Scrimgeour, though out of her peripheral she did see the other men leave one by one. She paid no matter to them as it was the old man in front of her that she wanted to ensure got the message and departed without a fuss. Her body tensed as he slowly rose from the chair.

And all she could do in response to his final words was smile. Regina stifled a remark about stating how well his authority worked out, though she knew it would only add fuel to the fire. The deed had been done.

Her head moved with each step the man took, her body moving just so she could watch him make his way between the tables, through the large oak doors, and out of sight. A sigh of relief was had. Her part of their mission was complete. Now she could happily leave, on her own accord, knowing that Hogwarts would be in far better hands.

Regina turned her body once more to those remaining at the staff table and gave them all a soft smile and a courteous nod before she made her way around the table to resume the chair she once sat in. Might as well enjoy the view one last time.
