 At the very top of the West Tower is where all owls, whether belonging to you individually or the school, reside. As you ascend the tower and its many stairs, constant hooting can be heard and you can feel the temperature gradually dropping. Once you open the door, you can feel a draft blowing straight at you because there is no glass where the windows would be. A few owls flutter in and out of the windows as the door closes.
Stepping deeper into the owlery, hundreds of owls lining the walls in their little nooks turn their head at you. Some even swoop down from their perches to say hello in the hopes that you'll give them a few owl treats that are in a closed bag inside a drawer of an old wooden desk that was placed in the centre of the room. If you investigate the desk further, you will find spare ink, quills, and parchment should you need to write a letter on the spot if you aren't here to just check up on the owls. Pellets, old animal skeletons, belladonna berries, and owl droppings cover the floor, so watch your step.

With the many changes happening at Hogwarts, Dorian decided to deliver a letter to his father to tell him what was going on after he had promised over the summer to write more. He did not like writing about nonsense thinks like how his classes were going and if he had made a new friend yet. He thought it was a waste of time but naturally his father wanted to know how he was. Ugh. But these changes were on a different level.
So with an letter inside of the envelope in his hand, the Ravenclaw climbed the owlery and opened the door. He ducked as an owl flew over his head the moment he did so and entered. He did not own an owl himself so he searched for one that was owned by the school for. Now...which one would be a good one?

Spotting a brown owl cleaning its feathers, Dorian approached it carefully. "Hey little guy, you want to deliver a letter?" The owl stopped cleaning for a second, looked at him and then went right back. "Eh, was that a yes or a no?" This would be so much easier if he could understand animals... Imagine how awesome he would be at Care of Magical Creatures?!
As he tried to convince the owl to let it tie his letter to its claw, Dorian turned his head to the entrance door as he heard it open up. Seeing that it was Kimi, the Ravenclaw nodded his head. "Hey, yeah i am. My dad wants me to keep update on what's happening with me at Hogwarts and well, drastic changes have been happening so..." wait, why was he saying all this? Who cared what he wrote in his letters? He watched the Hufflepuff for a moment before he went back to the task of tying the letter to the owl that was STILL cleaning its feathers. "Crazy few days huh?" He said as he finally had managed to attach the letter to the brown owl and looked back at Kimi. "What do you think about these new rules the Headmaster has made?" cause he was curious what others thought of it.

Kimi looked at Dorian and said "To be honest these rules are crazy, I don't really like them especially being woken at the crack of dawn to run every day and yes these last few days have been crazy, I am writing to my mum to let her know what is going on at the school just" Kimi had spotted Silver and whistled to her and let her fly down to his level so he could send his letter away and he had a treat for Silver too so that it would keep her going during her long flight

Dorian nodded his head slowly as Kimi said that he hated the changes. He could understand why people hated it and the Hufflepuff wasn't the first one he had heard complaining about the new rules. Most of the students HATED the morning excercises so far that he had heard. "Right........" he said as he looked away from Kimi to the brown owl and let it fly on to his shoulder.
He wanted nothing more than to speak his mind. That he did not mind the morning excercises at all. He actually thought it was a great idea. Not only would they get in better shape but it has been proven by many scientist and other muggle professions which Dorian had already forgotten that excercise was not only good for your body but your mind as well.
"I don't like how he talks to us, or how he talks about the other staff members. I mean, were students not soldiers right?" Maybe the man was getting too old and thought he was back at Auror training and not school?
Dorian watched as one of the owls flew down to Kimi after he had whistled and it didn't take a genius to know that the owl was his personal one. "What's its name?" he asked as he pointed at the owl.

Kimi nodded and said "Yeah I don't like it either and plus I didn't like the way that he sacked Hawthorne at the feast right in front of everyone, my owl's name is Silver" Kimi loved Silver as he knew that she was very loyal and didn't mind the long flights back to Finland but Kimi knew that if his mum didn't hear about the changes then he knew that she would be prone to worry about him

Right.... He had almost forgotten that the Headmistress had been fired in front of the whole school. "That was definitely a low thing to do" he agreed. He had to admit that the Headmaster had some good points , this school needed to change drastically. But the way he was handling it was just not how one dealt with a bunch of teenagers. Didn't the man know that when an teenager was told to do something , they would rebel? It was in their nature! Well, most of them, not all as Dorian himself would never do something like that.
Dorian looked at the owl named Silver and then walked over to one of the small windows. "Nice name" he commented. "I don't have an owl, but i do have a toad! His name is Ammonite and he's purple" which was far cooler than an owl. "I don't have him with me now, though" he added and then whispered the address that the brown owl needed to bring his letter to. Dorian then watched it fly off in to the distance and turned back around. "I'm bored" he said. "Want to go to the arcade room? I mean, we ARE allowed to play games right?"

Skyler had mixed feelings about this year. When it first started, she was expecting it to be another year at Hogwarts. But with the new headmaster and thw new rules, most of them made sense if you really thought about it, some of them? Eh, not so much. She climbed the stairs that headed tp the owlery. She heard the hooting of all the owls, a calming sound for her and then noticed two other students talking. She quietly walked in, giving them smiles of acknowledgement. She turned snd her little brown owl named Reina odd choice, flew down to greet her. She smiled, grabbing a treat from the drawer. She stroked the top of Reina's head who hooted softly in response.
"Hey, take this home okay?" Skyler smiled and handed her the envelope. She watched as Reina took off.
Skyler smiled, lingering a bit, she had to tell hr parents about the no homemade food rule. Especially sense Holidays are approaching.

As soon as Gaston got approval for the mail he needed to send, he headed straight for the owlery. He stifled a yawn, shaking his head to clear the sleepy fog. Last night's meeting in the bistro left him drained. He was going to need a cup of coffee after this! The dark-haired Frenchman shivered as he entered the owlery, wrapping his robes tighter around him, The winter weather had made this place as dark and cold as his thoughts. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he glanced around the room and spied a familiar face. It was the fat owl who'd been at the school since he started. "Hello, old friend," he greeted the bird, gently stroking its feathers. "Glad you're still here..."
"Here, eat up," he said, offering the owl a handful of treats. As it greedily munched, Gaston's thoughts wandered back to the first time he saw this owl and the chance meeting with Rosalyn that followed. It was a much happier time in his life... He was jerked out of his thoughts by a peck on his hand. The owl looked at him with a loud hoot, as if demanding more treats. Gaston laughed. "Sorry, that's all you get. You've got a job to do."
He gently tied an envelope to the owl's leg. It contained the following message:
Outwardly, the letter looked like an ordinary, if not badly written, supply order for Scrivenshaft's, but there was more to it than meets the eye. Bright blue eyes glanced cautiously around the room. The moment Gaston was sure he was alone, he bent down and whispered near the owl's head, "Take this to Regina Hawthorne." He watched the owl take off and quickly made his exit before he could get caught.
