Located along the back wall of the common room you will see a large glass cage or rather a glass terrarium that stands on a low rectangular table. If you dare to step closer you'll see that the glass cage is inhabited by a large and long dark green rat snake. Your head of house, Professor Vance thought it would be nice if the house students together could care for a house pet. And being that this is the house of snakes it was only natural that she would choose a snake.
The snake which is yet to be named is a four foot long female gopher snake whose glass cage/terrarium has been charmed so that she cannot escape. If a student wishes to remove her from her cage to play and cuddle with her they can without supervision, but then they need to stay alert so that they don't get bitten by her or she slithers out of the room.
Once a week she will be fed red rats, mice, squirrels, weasels by your prefects and captain; Prefects Kowalski & Fairfield and Captain Diggory, but you can of course ask one of them if you can help them feed her when they do. All students are welcome to watch, but there is to be NO touching her while she eats. Rules of the Snake
1) Don't anger her or you might get bitten! Even if she isn't very poisonous we don't want you to need to see the healer.
2) No banging on her cage to get her attention!
3) Your prefects and captain are in charge of feeding her, but you can of course help them when they do.
4) No touching her while she EATS! OOC: Please be sure read to the above description and the IC rules of the pet. Any student caught breaking the rules will face the anger of Professor Vance. So if you want your student to get in trouble all in good fun then have at it.  Anyone wanting to play with the snake can just go right ahead! The snake will not be played by a red account so its a free for all. Anyone the feels like it can rp the snakes actions and thoughts. Have at it, role-play with the snake, be creative and most of all have fun with your new house pet snake together! | |

This was taking foooorever.
Toddles slumped into the Slytherin dorm with a loud groan, the clearest indication he was bored and tired. "All day Toddles clean. Too much cleaning. Toddles not like cleaning at all but other elfsies make him clean anyway." He huffed and puffed about in like fashion to a teenager who'd been told to clean his room, already ready to do anything else.
Where were the studentsies? Couldn't he hang with them instead? They were more fun for castle than dust and dirt and grime.
With more huffing the elf moved to the snake cage. It needed cleaning too but again, this was all taking TOO long and Toddles was in a hurry to be done so he did a bit of quick magic, his concentration elsewhere and things that were more fun. It wasn't until the loud CRACK that he realized he'd gone and broken the glass!!
!!!
"Oh no oh no oh nooooooooooo!!!!!!" The snake, by all indication was still fine, but the same could not be said of her house. "Oh NO!" The elf danced from one foot to the next, knowing that if Algamus popped in he would get a smack.

Algamus had sent Schmoop away from his cookies to check on trouble-making Toddles, he did. Now cookies were going to be all burnt, they were. Making this one aghast elf. Even more now he saw the glass all over the floor. "Oh nossss!" Joining Toddles in jumping from foot to foot, Schmoop was. "What did Toddles dooooo?!" he was squealing at the top of his little elf lungs. "Toddles busteded the snake tank!" He was sure to get a brooming for this!

Beth had been doing homework in the common room when she heard the cries of Oh no oh no oh nooooooooooo!!!!!! something had definitely happened…maybe someone had found a goat? Or that Grindylow was making chomping faces at the window again like it did everytime little Tuna stretched out next to the window’s green glowing light. The first year stood up from her perch on the edge of a chair and made her way over to the…house elves?
what was going on here? she looked around and then she saw it. The snake, their pet snake’s home was broken. ”are you alright toddles?” she asked as he was the one closest to the mess.
Now, if Beth knew Toddles was going to get a brooming for this she would into let that stand. Heck, she’d even venture to try and fool some Professor into giving him a sock so he could be free…”do you know repairing magic?” she asked them as she hadn’t yet mastered the magic.

"Toddles not okay!!" He shrieked, pointing and hopping all the more. "Broke broke broke. Snakey snake not have house anymore." And he didn't want to have to stay here to fix it.
The little elf was about to disappear to find fun elsewhere, someplace with no trouble but just then Schmoop appeared and saw the mess too. It was all the confirmation he needed. He was in trouble and didn't want to have to face that. "Toddles not break it! Toddles....Toddles find it broke." He said, still hopping from one foot to the next in a sort of panicked half dance.
He'd only wanted to hurry so he could go have FUN.
"Magics for fixing! Yes yes! Toddles knows!" With a snap of his fingers the glass began vanishing away because that was what Miss Beth must have meant. "All gone!"
...Mostly gone. There were still shards of glass strewn haphazardly about the area.

Flynn was prepared to quickly feed the snake before he made his way to Hogsmeade to meet-up with Archie for the weekend. He had the box of mice in his hand as he made his way into the common room, and he couldn't stop thinking about his weekend ahead; however, all those thoughts washed away when he came eye-to-eye with the broken cage. His dark eyes darted from the cage to Gravestone then to the elves. There was anger in his eyes, of course, because if this made him late for his meet-up......
He placed the box of mice down on a nearby table then he proceeded to cross his arms. "Someone explain NOW." He was not in the mood to hear lies either.
Slowly, he moved by the others and went to check on the snake. At least she was fine; the same could not be said for the other three in the area, if someone didn't start talking soon.

Beth’s eyes widened in shock. As the glass seemed to vanish – oh, no. oh no. This wasn’t good, this…this was possibly worse right? ”Toddles, is the –“ Beth’s question halted in her throat as Kowalski arrived and gave that look. The highly disappointed angry look.
”oh, she’s okay right?” Beth asked, her eyes still wide and hopefully innocent looking…because she was innocent. ”I just came over when I heard Toddles basically crying?” Beth shrugged her shoulder not really clear on how to explain this. ”then…this, I saw this…broken pen with loads more glass – somehow Toddles vanished the glass?” she explained staring. At the snake’s home. ”I’m absolutely innocent - I didn’t tell them to vanish the glass shards away…I said repair not banish” clearly this was a case of misinterpretation and…something, some kind of mess.
Sure, she didn’t believe toddles right now but she wasn’t going to throw him under the knight bus about it.

OH OH OH! This was bad. Very very bad! And then....
"NOS! Toddles supposed to fix not banish!" Nows the snake could get out! This was very not good! And thens there was the MEAN prefect! Schmoop stopped hopping from one foot to the other and started pulling his ears down. "Toddles broke the snakeie house, Master Kowalski! Then banisheded the glass!" Oooooh. Soooo much troubles!

Vivian was having a perfectly good day today, and she had only decided to head back to the common room to retrieve one of her sweaters. Or her boyfriend's. Either way, she had a sweater. The temperature outside, especially since they were nearing the Christmas holidays, had started to drop... and the blond wasn't planning to freeze to her death on her last year at Hogwarts.
Putting on the sweater and heading out of her dormitory to the common room, she could already hear Coleslaw's voice. That... did not seem okay, and if he was out to bully another firstie, Vivian would be so done. Adjusting the sweater and pulling it down by the hem, the Head Girl made a quick detour before heading out. "What is going on in—" Pause. Her blue eyes widened in panic.
Where was the snake's tank? And why were there shards of glass on the common room floor? AND WHY IS THE SNAKE OUT LOOSE?!
"... The last thing I need right now is that snake slithering around the room." Those things bite, y'know?

OOOHHH NOOOOOOOOOO!!
Toddles pulled on his ears, watching as first the Prefect then the Head Girl showed up.
"Not Toddles! Toddles not do it!" He insisted, nevermind that at least Miss Beth would've been there to witness him getting rid of the glass. "Snakey house not gone. Look, Toddles left little pieces." The little elf threw himself on the floor, picking at the small shards that managed to not be vanished.
"Snakey alright, Toddles only wanted to hurry so he could have fun." So far, this was not fun. Not fun at all.
And now with Mister Flynn and Miss Vivian here too, it looked even less like there was a possibility of fun. Boo. "Maybe...Toddles leave and come back when more fun....."

There was so much that had happened in such a short amount of time, which left Flynn Kowalski having to take a moment to blink and process it. He had heard Beth's answer to his question, which he had not responded to yet, and had noticed Mayfield's glorious entrance to the scene of the crime, which he had not acknowledged yet. All he wanted to do was reprimand politely discuss the situation with the house elves so he could get the heck out of this castle, but they BOTH disappeared. Go figure.
"Just wait until I get my hands on my Toddles," he muttered under his breath before looking over at the two girls. "She's innocent," he waved his hands over to Beth while he looked at his co-Prefect, "and I have somewhere to be. You can correct this situation, right?" The situation should probably be corrected pronto before the snake escaped and took a bite into someone's skin..... hmmmm, now that he was thinking about it.... "How much trouble do you think we'd get in if this snake 'accidentally'," he also used air quotes while he spoke, "escaped into the Gryffindor Common Room?" ..... or Ronan's bed.... "I mean, not like they can trace is back to the Prefects." Innocent Prefects, that's what they were. "And innocent Beth."
They could blame it on Toddles. Karma for leaving the scene of the crime.

Vivian was going to say something along the lines of 'I'm going to tell Professor Vance about this' until both elves decided that it was such a convenient time for them to disappear. "You're not kidding," she added to Coleslaw's comment. She was no advocate of treating elves that way, but this really wasn't the best time for her to deal with a loose snake. They can hunt Toodles down later. They had a snakey situation to handle at the moment.
And she didn't think Beth had anything to do with it. Besides, it would be terrible to hex her sister's dorm mate, and Vivian didn't work that way. "Oi, you're not the only person who has places to go to." She raised an eyebrow at her co-prefect before looking back at the snake. Yeah, she wasn't touching that.
Did she believe anything happened 'accidentally' around Flynn? Well, no. Seven years of knowing this guy, she'd have already gotten used to it. "How exactly are you going to sneak a gopher snake into the Gryffindor Tower?" Which was, for the record, flights of stairs away from their own common room? And why? Still, there was no way she was touching that thing. She could only feed it on her schedule, okay?
Vivian was oblivious to the plan, of course. Sort of.
