The Tower Patch At the top of the north tower some ways down from the Astronomy classroom is a large rooftop garden that has been expanded in memory of the late Marion Burbage, substitute professor of Astronomy. Lush green hedges and flower beds line the perimeter of the area and a large fountain greets you towards the opposite end. Located to the left of the fountain is a stone plaque engraved with words from former Headmistress Truebridge herself which reads : |
Poolicious/Alyce! (Open to others as well!) Rylee was indeed making it a very strong point to cover every single spot inside the castle. She wanted to see it all... know it all... do it all. That meant every place had to be explored. Starting from the top just made the most sense. And this afternoon it paid off. This spot was... well it was... beautiful! "Whoa..." she breathed softly making her way into the rooftop garden. If the large fountain wasn't enough to catch her attention the hedges and flower beds lining the area certainly did. Her very first thoughts were that Reese would love this... Reese and their fox pups. So much room to run about and play or just relax and read. Which she just might do later on. As for now... Rylee tucked a lock of her hair back behind her ear as she walked the perimeter of the garden slowly. Flowers were inspected and smelled as were the hedges. The HUGE topiary's drew her in and she wasted no time at all in trying to climb up onto the lion one. Current goal. Get herself to the very top of it so she could take a photo of herself sitting there for her book. |

Alyce was surprised to see someone was there. And what surprised her even more that the strangers has the same hair color as hair. And the stranger with the same hair color as her currently climbing onto the lion topiary and she looked younger. Much younger than her. Probably a first year or second. So, as a responsible teenager she watched over the younger girl just in case she need help to get down. So the red hair Slytherin sat down on one of the benches and kept her eyes on the girl. |
Quote:
Shifting her weight to lean against the topiary she reached into her bag and pulled out her magical camera holding it up to show the girl. "I really like your hair! It's just like mine!" Which meant it was EPIC! Mhmm. |
Quote:
"Thanks." She flipped her hair. "And yours not so bad either." She wondered was the girl the only redhead in her family or her family are all redhead? Hmmm... |

Rylee smiled warmly. "Thank you. I'm Rylee." It was always nice to introduce ones self when talking with someone new. |
Quote:
"I'm Alyce." She gave the girl a polite nod. "What year are you in? First?" Because she looked like a firstie. |
Quote:
"Hi, Miss Alyce!," she chirped cheerfully. "Uh-huh." Cue really quick nodding of her ginger head. |
Quote:
Miss? Grin. She liked that. The girl definitely has manner. "Nice to meet you, Rylee." |

Great! Rylee rummaged through her bag and pulled out a sugar quill as well as the chocolate frog holding both out to Alyce. She had to grip onto the topiary and lean downwards to do so but it was okay. "Here you go!" With her usually Rylee type smile in place she pulled out her magical camera to show her. "I don't need many photos... just one will do." See she wasn't being a true brat and asking for tons of photos. |

Alyce got up wand walked towards the topiary. She had to stand on tiptoe to reach the sugar quill and chocolate frog. "Thanks." She hoped the little girl had a tight grip on the topiary. The Slytherin put the foods in her pocket. "Okay. One picture." Got it. She took the camera from Rylee's hand and noticed that it's a magical camera. Not a muggle one. She know how to use a muggle camera but she never used a magical camera before. Wonder if they work the same? Better ask the owner. "What should I do? Do I just press the button like muggle camera?" |
Quote:
Once Alyce had the camera in hand, Rylee moved to sit up again on the topiary. "Uh-huh." Nods. "Just look through the hole and click the button. My sister charmed it for me so it focuses perfectly on it's own." That's all that really made it magical. Nothing fancy or overly needed. Getting herself comfortable or as comfortable as one could be up on a lion topiary the ginger haired child smiled brightly waiting for the picture to be taken. |
Quote:
"Ah. I see. So basically it work like muggle camera then. Got it!" She step back a few steps from the topiary. She aimed the lens at the Gryffindor and noticed the camera focuses perfectly on it's own just like the first year said. Neat. Wonder if she could make her camera like this too. Hmmm.... "Say cheese." Alyce clicked the button as Rylee smiled brightly. "I think I got it." Hopefully. |
Quote:
"Thank you, Miss Alyce!" Rather than ask for her camera back she choose to carefully calm back down from the topiary until she was standing firmly on the ground once more. There. She held her hand out for her camera so she could see the final photo for herself. "Let me see it, please." |
Quote:
"It's my pleasure." She gave her a smile and a nod. The Slytherin watched as Rylee came down from the topiary. She's about to ask her whether she need her help or not but apparently the younger girl managed to get down by herself. She gave Rylee her camera back. "Here you go." |
Quote:
"You should take photos all the time... you're really good at it!" Or so she thought the older girl was. True her camera was charmed to focus on its own but in the fact of the matter Alyce had done as asked in getting both Rylee and the entire topiary in the picture. This made for a very happy Rylee as she set the camera back into her bag. "If you want to go back to whatever it was you were doing before I called you over, you can." More bright smiles. She would totally understand if she didn't wanted to be bothered by her anymore. |
