Default Professor Tristan Wayland's Hut

Not too far from the barn, a uniquely shaped hut is just at the edge of the Forbidden Forrest. This is not only Professor Wayland's living quarters, but it is also his office. Outside you will notice tons of wood logs and a fire pit. On the porch there are two lawn chairs. After you knock on the door you may sit and wait there until the professor is ready to see you.

When you enter the hut, you will immediately notice that the downstairs area is the Professor's office. On the walls there are many pictures of Professor Wayland with interesting creatures and different people, including his family members, friends, and mentors from school and previous occupations. There are also diagrams depicting different creatures, pointing out body parts and what they do, as well as information about what they may eat.

There isn't really room for a huge desk, but there is a roll top desk in the back right corner of the room and two comfortable chairs sit next to it. On the left side of the room is a cozy fireplace with a small black leather couch. There is also a 4 foot perch for Professor Wayland's Phoenix, Ash, to sit on; though, sometimes you might find the beautiful bird flying around outside of the Hut or perched on the roof. There are many shelves of different books. Most of the books are about creatures. The rest are a mixture of fiction, Sci-fi, graphic novels, and there might be a romance novel...or two.

Please, knock on the door first! Professor Wayland will be with you as soon as possible!

OOC: There is no waiting area thread, so please just RP your character knocking on the door and wait for Professor Wayland to answer. Also, please don't RP for Ash. You may RP that you SEE him flying around or on the roof, etc., but Ash is a Phoenix and only comes to his master unless, someone shows great loyalty to Professor Wayland.

One thing about going to visit Professor Wayland that made things even MORE exciting was seeing Ash flying around outside the hut. Derf had found himself transfixed by the phoenix's flight more often than not during his many visits down to visit the Care of Magical Creatures professor - private tutoring on salamander care and rehabilitation - and today was one of those days. Particularly since the majestic bird was soaring lower than usual around the hut and catching the sunlight through the trees juuuuuuuuuuuuust so. Derf didn't see them the same way as everyone else - literally and figuratively - and he tried in vain once again to get the creature to come to him.

Of course. What phoenix would come to the call of a 14-year-old?

Eh. A kid could hope.

After gaping at Ash for close to a good 15 minutes or so, the Hufflepuff finally gave a knock on the professor's door. Three knocks. Okay five. And one more for good measure.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

She looked and felt a mess, but a satisfied mess nonetheless.

Dexter was a real hoot and she could honestly say she didn't regret giving him time to muck around in the mud after the rains earlier. Sure it meant more work for her, cleaning that gunk out from under his hooves but he'd been soooooo happy and carefree that it didn't really matter.

Already being out here on the grounds, Jessa thought there no better time to stop by Professor Wayland's hut. Dexter was a growing Aethonan so they had a few things to discuss.

Jessa looked about as she approached the building, hoping to catch a glimpse of Ash. She'd long since stopped trying to convince the man to let her see Ash burning, being buried under so many of her other experiments but the bird was still nice to look at. Speaking of birds.....that was yet another thing she would ask him about while she was here. But Dexter first.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

She took a seat on the bench, prepared to wait because it was a guarantee that if she went back to the castle, she'd have to work up the motivation to walk back out here to see him another day and with her schedule tightening around her...she didn't see that happening.

Tristan had just finished up the last sentence of a letter to his Aunt and Uncle when a knock....correction, six knocks came at his door. He grinned, having a feeling he knew exactly who it was. He quickly stowed his quill, stood and made his way to the door. Seeing young Derfael, who wasn't so young anymore, at his door brought a smile to his face. His intuition was right!

He quickly pulled the door open, and grinning replied, "Hello, Derfael!
It's good to see you! I hope you had a good summer."
He moved outside to the deck and sat down in the lawn chair farthest from the door, directing Derf with his hands to have a seat.

Noticing the badge on the young man's robes he smiled, "Congratulations on becoming Prefect! That is a wonderful position to have!" He was very proud of the young Puff! Of course Tristan was never chosen for Prefect or Head boy. Honestly, he never deserved it. He was a pretty rebellious kid and got into a lot of trouble when he was at Hogwarts.

Tristan had just finished eating his sandwich when he heard a knock at the door. He had taken to eating in his hut for breakfast and lunch so as to avoid a certain Gryffindor. So far it was working like a charm. He was sure she was still mad at him anyway. The thought made him grin. He quickly wiped his mouth on his napkin, finished chewing the last bit of his food, and gulped down some tea to clear his throat before heading to the door.

Soon enough he saw Jessa sitting on the bench he had recently made. It had been awhile since she had visited him but he was happy to see her nonetheless! "Hello, Jessa!" He said as he pushed the door open, and stood next to her. "How are you today? How was your summer?" He asked with a smile. "I see you made prefect as well! Congratulations! Derfael was just here am hour or so ago and I was happy to see he got chosen as prefect as well! Very exciting stuff! Though I am sure it is difficult for you to work into your schedule with OWLs this term." Normally, Tristan let the students speak but he was just in such a good mood for some reason he couldn't help himself.

Hopefully she wouldn't notice.

Jessa remained seated even after the door opened and the Professor made his appearance. No point getting up, she thought the meeting would be just fine out here, like always. She'd never really been a fan of enclosed spaces, avoided them when she could. She did return the man's smile though, being in a chipper mood herself.

Her Aethonan did that, he was a good mood lifter. The smile cracked just a little at the congratulations. Hard enough forgetting the damned thing on her chest without people reminding her about it. "Thanks...." She managed, trying to keep the smile in place. "Summer was....alright." Yeah, she'd leave it at alright, though most everyone who spent it with her might not have agreed.

The Prefect twisted in her seat, as if expecting to see Derf off in the distance despite the man saying it'd been at least an hour since her bestfriend left. Idly she wondered what he'd come to see Wayland about. Could've been anything, it was Derf afterall. "Oh, I've already completed the OWL syllabus." She said distractedly before turning to face him again. "Onto the Sixth Year one now with hopes of getting to the Seventh Year one by February with good pacing." So far it'd been going well. "Enjoying being back at school?"

If Isabel was being completely honest, one of the main reasons why she was heading down to Professor Wayland's hut was so that she could see his phoenix. He of course was attractive, but even that didn't compare to the fact that he had a PHOENIX as a pet... How much more awesome could a person get???

Approaching the hut, she spotted said creature perched on the roof and was so tempted to call out to him though she resisted the temptation; why would he come over to her of all people? Instead of being foolish, she knocked on the door. Maybe Professor Wayland would get him to come down so that she could pet him.

After the bat lesson Bel suddenly found herself with a strong bout of homesickness. It didn't matter that she had been here a whole year already, and made some really epic friends in Cam and Liam and Derfael and Abra, it was just so different, especially in the colder months. It wasn't even winter yet and she had wrapped her scarf around her mouth and nose, shoved on some gloves and a hat, and pulled her cloak tight.

So different.

She knocked on Wayland's hut door, not even sure how she would frame her request. Maybe he would laugh it off. Maybe he would listen and nod in understanding but say there was nothing he could do.

Bel was still going to see though.

Emma had NEEDS. Strong, unyielding needs that HAD to be meet BUT APPARENTLY she needed permission to ride any of the winged creatures or even CARING for them before she could do that, so the second year was here at the hut.

KNOCK KNOCK PROFESSOR.

She didn't actually wait around at the door though. Too easily distracted by everything she could already see, Emma went over to the fire-pit and poked around it curiously.

She didn't want to come, no she wanted to stay away from it all together, but she knew she was going to have to come eventually or he'd come looking for her. So as told by him as she left class she was at his door and knocking the following day. She was feeling much better, of course, the fever fudge out of her system long ago, but the side effects hurting her bum reminded her of the choice she made. it was a good one that she would never regret. She wasn't going near those bats at all.

She would rather be expelled then go near a bat. So now she half wondered what he would talk to her about, he couldn't prove she wasn't sick so it would be her word against his and who would they believe, the professor of course. Even though she knew this she knew if it went badly she would just cry to her father if needed. He'd help her, he couldn't stand to see her cry, no not the baby, there were perks for being the youngest.

Knock, knock professor.

Tristan noticed how her smile slipped a little when he mentioned the badge. He wouldn't bring it up again seeing as it might be a sore spot. He was sort of surprised by that. Who would be reluctant to become a prefect? "That's good." He said with a grin, though he wasn't totally convinced she'd had even an alright summer. But he wasn't one to pry.

He chuckled when she said she was already done with the OWL syllabus and was hoping to be done with Seventh year syllabus by February. She was definitely an overachiever, but he appreciated that. She actually did her work and correctly! "Well, good for you and I hope you can complete it by then." As she asked her next question he moved one of the lawn chairs over to sit across from her. "Oh, yes! This term is going to be great I think. I have some great lessons in store and hopefully everyone will like them." He said with a small smile. He didn't want to assume, there were always a few that didn't like anything they did at all.

"What about you? Happy to be back? Any exciting experiments that need monitoring?" He said with a grin. She always had something going on in the background.

Tristan had just finished getting dressed from taking a shower when he heard the knock at the door. He hadn't noticed a rake and tripped over it straight into the manure pile. Wouldn't be the first time...or the last, he was certain. At least he was clean and didn't smell like poop anymore. At least he hoped he didn't.

He quickly made his way down the stairs, jumping from the third to last step to the floor. He headed straight to the door, and smiled at the young Gryffindor. "Ah, hello Isabel! Have a seat!" He pointed to the lawn chair closest to the door, and took the furthest one, his preferred seat. As soon as he sat down, the gentle wooshing of wings could be heard and Ash was suddenly perched on his shoulder. "Oh, hello friend." He gave the majestic bird a quick rub behind the kneck. "So what can I do for you Isabel?" He said with a grin like nothing significant had just happened.

Tristan was relaxing by the fireplace, draped across his couch reading a book and sipping some Chai tea, when he heard a knock at the door. He finished the paragraph he was in, marked it with a bookmark, took a quick sip of tea, sat down his mug and book on the coffee table, then hopped up and headed towards the door.

He smiled as soon as he saw Bel, and pushed open the door. "Hello, Bel. It's a bit chilly today. Would you like to come in and sit by the fire?" He didn't want to force any of his students to sit in the cold. Except Zoryn. He would never let her in his space.

Tristan was just about to sit down and have a bite to eat when the knock at the door came. He sighed, but before he went to the door he took a quick bite of his sandwich and took a quick drink to make sure nothing was in his teeth.

When he approached the door, he couldn't see anyone. Confused, he walked outside and saw Emma walking around the fire-pit. He grinned, and folding his arms called out, "Hey, Emma! What ya doing?" Hopefully he wouldn't frighten her.

Tristan had just finished a letter to Rose when the knock at the door came. He was sure it could only be one of two students. Or it could be both. But he was sure it was only one at this point. He quickly signed the letter, He would have to send it off later, and stood up to head for the door. When he arrived he could see that it was only one student, and it happened to be the main one he wanted to talk to.

He pushed the door open and said, "Good afternoon, Zita. It's a bit chilly out so please come inside. Please, have a seat in one of the chairs by my desk." He motioned to the right side of the room. Ash was on his perch on the opposite side of the room and gave a small coo that would make anyone feel comfortable and safe. This was going to be an interesting conversation for sure if Ash was giving him confidence.

Ruffling his hair, Derf gave a bit of a sheepish shrug of the shoulders. He was still rather unaccustomed to people giving glances at the badge he had pinned to his uniform - some days he didn't even bother to pin it on and kept it in his pocket while not on patrols when he could. He wasn't embarrassed or ashamed, per say, but status like this sometimes came with unwanted attention and...er...expectations from his peers that he was having a hard time swallowing.

"It was pretty good, professor," he nodded. Confusing and muddled in spots but still quite good. Yeah...badge compliments. He was still not quite sure how to field those really. "Er...thanks. I kinda just hope I don't let Brian and Henry down." Two of his heroes and first mentors at the school...so that was sorta a lot of pressure. Pressure he was putting on himself...but still. "I...um....was sorta wondering if there was any more work to be done with the fire salamanders this term...or if there was another creature that I could get a more individualized lesson on their care..."

She was glad he didn't bother to press for further conversation on the badge or her summer, happy to have those both behind her--though only one really was. Being back at school, she felt she'd gotten a reset and was trying to remain optimisitic about the term ahead, which naturally left her nodding along when the man made vocal his hope she'd get all the work done. "I'm hoping so too. If I've already learned what's required, I'll be able to spend more time on things I've got real interest in!" All the time to dedicate to her experiments and anything else that may peak her interest.

"I'm sure they will." She assured. "It's hard to not like a creatures class if you already like the creatures. Nothing to be done about the others. I don't think they'll necessarily be pleased with anything you put forward." Which was fine too. He wasn't there to entertain, he was there to educate. It was great when he did both but he'd only get in real trouble for not doing one of those two.

"I'm thrilled to be back. You'll never guess how much I missed my lab--actually, this term's main experiment doesn't have anything to do with creatures so I could show you if you'd like!" She offered, with new found enthusiasm. He was pretty uptight when it came to the animals but dolls he couldn't really have a heart attack over and it was nice to know another Professor had an interest in her experiments that stretched beyond thinking they were completely out of line and entirely immoral. "Oh, but before we get into that," before she forgot (because experiments were pretty exciting stuff), "I was wondering, Dexter getting as big as he is now and so restless all the time, if I could take him flying...outside the barn enclosure sometimes." She shot him a most hopeful look, here in the best interest of her not so baby Aethonan. "He's not a foal anymore, or he won't really be after this year and I think he'd appreciate the gesture for his ever growing wings and all that energy he's found."

"YES please, professor!" Bel didn't WAIT to go in once he invited her. WAY too cold to be standing about outside. Scotland was problematic in that sense.

RIGHT to the fire too. She went over and immediately took her gloves off to warm her fingers. Brrr.

She looked back over her shoulder at him and smiled sheepishly. "Hi."

SPOILER!!: profesosr

Zita was never really one to go to professor's offices. She had no reason to, so going to a hut she sort of thought it was strange, but couldn't think much more since the professor was there answering. "Hello professor" As she went to go into her I'm so sorry I got sick and so sorry for missing that most likely so educational and so important lesson was cut off at just a hello, because she was being ushered inside and asked to sit at the desk.

She would say no, but it seemed very official like once she was inside. The hut itself had come across as odd, but once inside she had never realized how office like it was. Once they were in though she decided not to small talk and get right to the point. "Professor I'm ever so sorry that I got ill yesterday, I don't know what had come over me, but the healer said with some rest I'd feel better and I woke up today feeling much better. Thank you for allowing me to leave sir, that was very nice of you." She gave him a smile and fidgeted with her fingers just a tad.

Noble probably looked an unusual sight as he meandered across the grounds to Tristan's office. His right arm was heavily strapped up, but more intriguing was the cuboid shape draped in fabric that he levitated in front of him. A present of sorts, he supposed.

Lowering the box down gently onto one of the nearby lawn chairs, Ignatius raised his hand and knocked lightly on the door. As he waited for the Creatures professor to appear, he turned to enjoy the view from the porch. It was good to get some fresh air; it could get stuffy indeed in the dungeons.

Emma had been at the fire pit long enough to attempt MULTIPLE castings of the fire spell with no such luck. That didn't stop her from TRYING to make fire happen with her dysfunctional wand, but it did leave her winded from all the hand waving and jumping she add to see if it would make the spell work.

What DID stop her was the groundskeeper shouting her name. She looked up with an excited grin. "Hey, Professor!" She skipped over to him, tooooooo much energy inside of her to settle down immediately. "Do you have a lot of bonfires out here? You totally should. It would be SO much fun. You can sing songs and make smores and I CAN HELP. I'm practically a pro at bonfires." This was true! She had them all the time with her Papa when they went camping.

Almost immediately after she had finished knocking, the door was opened and there was Professor Wayland. Well, that was quick... Isabel sent the man a smile before taking another glance at the phoenix. He had better come over to say hi now that his owner was about! "Hello, Professor." Without a moment's hesitation, she made herself comfortable in the seat that he had indicated to her. It was rather... cozy here, she supposed.

And why was she here? Well... it wouldn't be very nice to say it was just to pet his bird, and he WAS a nice man, so she didn't mind talking to him in the least. It really wasn't a lie when she said, "well, I thought I would say hi to you and Ash." And speaking of Ash, there he was. Could she pet him now? Please? That was a big part of why she was here.

"Good, good. Happen to come upon any interesting creatures?" Tristan had a feeling Derfael didn't do anything that didn't involve some sort of animal. Which brought a small smile to his face. He never found anything more interesting than his Creatures class when he was at Hogwarts. Yes, he was very skilled at all the other branches of magic, but none of them caught his attention like creatures had. Derfael reminded him so much of himself when he was younger.

Noting the sound of fear and uncertainty, Tristan gave the young man a gentle smile. "Not to worry Derf, you will do great things. Don't compare yourself to your predecessors, it will only bring you self-doubt and fear. Instead do what you know is right and stick with that." He was sure Derfael would make a great prefect, even if he did tend to get into trouble himself occasionally.

And then came the question he knew was going to come eventually. "Ah, actually the Salamanders were taken to the Sanctuary. They can take care of them better there." He gave the young man a sad smile, "And at the moment I don't have anything extra but I may have something coming for a lesson soon that I will need help with. I am sure you can handle it." He said with a grin.

It was always an interesting sensation to get honesty and undeniable truth from a student. "That is very wise, and very true. Ok...why did he feel like he was suddenly at a therapy session? He looked over and smiled, "But all I can do is hope for the best and do my best." He hoped he did his best at least.

Tristan chuckled at her happiness to be back at school. When she mentioned her current experiment not having anything to do with animals he raised an eyebrow, "I am not surprised you missed it. I would be very interested in seeing it for sure." He said with a nod. Her next request was rather surprising. He thought she knew that she could fly him whenever she wanted too. He was her's after all. "Yes, I need to transfer all of the two year old creatures over to the main barn soon. Keeping up with all these creatures can be difficult....but I digress," he said putting his hands out if he was pushing an invisible object, "Of course you can fly him anytime you want, as long as you are within school property. It would be a good idea to have a friend fly one of the other winged horses with you so that you don't get lost or in case something happens. Or I can always fly with you as well." He said with a nod and a smile. He didn't want her to feel obligated to take him but he wanted her to stay safe.

He had forgotten that Ash was snoozing on his perch, hopefully the sudden noise of the young Puff wouldn't wake him. Even if it did, Ash wouldn't budge. He also preferred heat.

He moved over towards the chair that sat near Ash's perch, and sat down. When she turned to shyly grin at him he chuckled. "Hi, Bel. How are you? Cold, I see." He grinned. This was sure to be an interesting visit.

Tristan let her say what she had so clearly been rehearsing multiple times over and over before she came to his hut. He gave a her a gentle smile as she spoke, nodding at the right moments. He folded his arms, and raised an eyebrow. "That was a very pretty and well rehearsed excuse," he paused, "oh and you are quite welcome." He was sure he was going to get some protesting, but he put his hand up to stop her before she was even able to start speaking.

"I know what you and Abraham did. I overheard your conversation and watched him hand you the Fever Fudge. We professors' aren't complete and utter fools you know?" He shook his head ever so slightly. "All I want to know is why you needed saving? Though I am sure I already know why. I want to hear it from you." He knew she had a reputation to withhold and being scared of something would make her look weak to her school mates...in her own mind. But that was what mattered when you were a teenager. But he wanted to hear her explanation to see if he was correct before he rolled with his assumptions.

With a grin he replied, "I do have a lot of bonfires when it is cold out. But usually it is just me, unless we have a class at night, then off course we will have s'mores and all that fun stuff. I don't typically need help starting fires though." He gave her a little wink. He usually just started them with his wand.

"Now, you must be here for a reason. What can I help you with?" He said with a small smile.

Tristan grinned at her comment. He knew a lot of the time the reason students came to his hut wasn't because of him. Ash was completely irresistible to anyone who had never seen a Phoenix, which was 95% of the population at Hogwarts. Ash gave a calming coo that almost sounded as if he were laughing as well.

"You can tell me you wanted to see Ash. It's okay. It happens all the time." He said with a grin. Tristan gave the magnificent bird a quick rub, and nodded towards Isabel. The bird flapped it's wings twice, took flight, and then gracefully landed on the young girls knee. His feet were so warm they could warm your soul without burning you. "He is very friendly. He likes to be rubbed on his cheeks right around his eyes." He said making a circular motion with his index finger. Ash was entirely too captivating for his own good, but he loved it nonetheless. Arrogant bird!

"Ah, Tristan!" He turned to greet the Creatures professor, stiffly waving his bandaged arm in return. He crossed back towards the door in a couple of strides, retrieving his wand as he did so to levitate the covered tank once again. "I have something of a present for you. Thought you might be able to find space for them in the creatures barn."

That was actually very true. When it came to her studies, Jessa was typically on top of things. For those who didn't know her and saw her walk around with the blue and silver, they'd attribute it to her being a Ravenclaw, but those who knew her knew she was simply getting them out of the way because she didn't have enough interest to KEEP working on them. Hard to be enthused about goblin revolts and master numbers when you had your own experiments running.

Were she any closer, Jessa may have reached over to give the man an awkward shoulder pat. She supposed she could understand the desire to have others enthused about your work. "It's kinda like how no matter what I do, someone will always have a problem with something I'm studying." That was how she understood situations. She took them apart and tried to liken them to other systems that she already knew. "It used to bother me, like these classes being entertaining bothers you, but then I thought 'why be so worked up if it won't change the nature of human beings?', y'know? If they're gonna be dissatisfied regardless, might as well get on with it." Besides, the Fifth Year was a firm believer that if she wasn't hurting anyone then she didn't expect others going out of their way to stop her.

"It'll be fine. You're doing right by the right people." And like she said, nothing you could really do for the non-creature lovers.

Ooohhhhh but he wanted to see her latest project! "Sure!" She said, a grin firmly in place. I could stop by with them next week. Haven't gotten very far yet and there's still a ton to do but it's interesting all the same."[/b] So excited was she, that she waited rather than correcting the man immediately based on his answer about Dexter. She was aware she could see him whenever, that wasn't the question. She was talking about flying him wherever. Thankfully, he did get to that, saving her the trouble. "Sure sure, I can do that!--If I take you with me, will Dexter sometimes get to fly off school property? It wouldn't be too far, just, I'm not sure about boundaries and I don't wanna come back to find out I got in trouble for something I didn't know." Some Professors were more lenient than others when it came to that sort of thing and she simply was not having it.

Professor Wayland's response was so unexpected that Isabel couldn't help but laugh before returning his grin. "Okay, you caught me. But I do like you too, Professor." It was the truth; he was one of her favourite teachers because he seemed to be rather chill and laid back - so long as students didn't misbehave. Not like a certain Potions Master... She was going to keep THOSE thoughts to herself, however; she was smart enough not to badmouth any of the staff. Secretly she wondered what Professor Wayland thought of his new colleague.

Those thoughts were interrupted by Ash landing on her knee. That was a nice surprise. "Well, hello there!" She could definitely see how friendly he was. "I wish I had a Phoenix. What connections do I have to make in order to get one?" Okay, Isabel knew it wasn't THAT easy, but still she could dream. Nodding, she began to pet Ash in the way that had been indicated. "So how are you, Professor?"

He was sure he was going to get some protesting, but he put his hand up to stop her before she was even able to start speaking.

Rehearsed excuse? WHAT? How would he know, how did he know? No, he didn't know so she kept her face calm and went to speak but HE WAVED HER OFF, who did he think he was? She was not having this and she crossed her arms, that is until she said his next words.
HOW COULD HE HAVE? NO, this was not possible.

"Abey had nothing to do with it sir, I made him, I mean he felt sorry for me, I mean he is not to blame for any of this." She had been the baby in the lesson about those horrible rats with wings. She couldn't have Abey take the hit for this, plus they were just there without anyone else, no one would truly see her taking the hit for Abey, if a group was there she might have had to think about it, but it wasn't, it was just the professor and she wasn't going to allow him to be in trouble.

She sighed, and then sighed again LOUDLY, she didn't want to admit her fear,
brooms was one thing, but bats, bats were creatures and Derf liked creatures and admitting she was terrified of creatures was, ugh, ugh,
ugh. She just stared at him for a moment before finally answering with the truth. "I hate bats sir, they scare the crap out of me, they are rats with wings and little eyes that creep me out. They swoop at your hair and do you see how thick my hair is, they'd get stuck!" Really how could anyone enjoy them AT ALL!

Uh oh.

Uh ohhhhhhhhh.

OHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO.

Abra wasn't just running behind schedule, he was HORRENDOUSLY CATASTROPHICALLY APOCALYPTICALLY LATE. He wasn't even sure how he had managed to entirely forget the summons to Professor Wayland's office, but that was exactly what he'd done. It wasn't until the NEXT AFTERNOON, when he had been sitting in the common room playing with Squigs and someone had asked him how the meeting had gone, that he had had stomach-dropping sensation that came with suddenly remembering something important he had forgotten to do. All that day and the day before Abra had been busy with something or other, he'd not even been to the Great Hall for lunch because he'd needed to sit somewhere quiet and frantically finish some homework (which he had, surprise surprise, forgotten to do) that had been due today. Not only had he been impossibly stressed out and preoccupied (not that his ridiculous brain ever needed a reason to just randomly forget things) be he had also been hard to find. It must have looked like he'd just skipped the meeting yesterday and then avoided anywhere that Wayland might have looked for him for the whole of today. Yiiiiiiiiiikes.

He sprinted all the way down to the grounds, totally forgetting until he was running out of the front doors just how cold it was and that he definitely should have at least grabbed a jacket. Abra wasn't willing to run all the way back to Gryffindor tower, or waste more time - though he was at the point of being 'late' that another half an hour would hardly matter - so he just floored it dressed as he was, all the way to the Wayland's hut.

There was no stopping or pausing or slowing down, not until he eventually reached the funny shaped hut and knocked manically on the door, before doubling over and clutching the stitch in his side, desperately gasping for breath. Now that he'd stopped the cold wasn't really a problem; he had warmed himself right up with the run down here, and could feel the heat in his face.

It had only been a matter of time before his stupid memory got him into trouble. Abra may have been alarmed by this turn of events, but he was not at all surprised.

JP used this spare time he had to wander around to occupy his time. He figured since he'd heard this professor was a nerd like he was it would be cool to introduce himself and have a chat with him. Even though his little bird was pretty ordinary, he brought his canary with him to introduce him to Professor Wayland.

JP knocked on the door and rocked on his feet waiting for a response.

Knock, knock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was about time she came to visit. Honestly, she typically tried to stop by early in the year for investigative purposes, but this term had proved to be the busiest yet. Between all the Quidditch practices, student leader meetings, musical rehearsals, remedial potions, ditching classes, and EVERYTHING ELSE that came with the territory of being a fourth year... Zoryn had NO TIME.

But today, today she had time.

Which is why she was here, standing outside of Professor Wayold's hut. And surprisingly, she wasn't here to interrogate him about his age issue this time. You're welcome, sir.
