If you are eager to see, be seen, and get to school first, then the front passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
Sam probably wanted space? Right…taking a deep breath Mel got ready to say one final thing but stopped when Sam actually sort of seemed to regard her.
She missed her?
What was this feeling?...relief.
Sammy missed her, that made things feel a little bit more normal now that it wasn’t one sided. ”Sam…did you have a nice summer? I really hope you did I mean mine was boring and I spent most of my time working” she paused for a moment, ”… so what did you do?”
She was trying…it wasn’t much but at least she wasn’t blubbering and crying as much…sure silent tears might have been falling down her cheeks still but these were different they were happier her friend missed had her.
Oh thank Merlin, Mel didn't go in for a hug. She didn't think she could deal with that. She wasn't big on the whole touchy feely thing. Especially with all of the blubbering and crying. Seriously, what happened to the girl she grew up with? "Oh, um, I guess so. I didn't do much either really. Kind of just helped out on the farm. I did work on making my own rune set though." That was actually the coolest thing ever. "Where were you working?" She had no idea what had gone on in the other girl's life over the past two years.

It had been too long since they had really talked and it was nice…weird, but nice. ”Oh you did? I’m so happy for you!” Mel grinned when Sammy told her about the rune stone set she had created.
Right.
They didn’t really know much about what had happened in their lives for the last what? Two years…two years, that was about as long as she had been dating Kirk…right, this was not the time to get sidetracked.
”Oh…my aunt Alicia’s café in Ambleside” Mel grinned at her, ”I also did a lot of training with Darcy…right you haven’t meet Darcy yet have you?” Mel grinned, ”I’ll introduce you two later after the feast!” Mel beamed the tears now drying.

Vi had just worked her way past students settling in compartments to find two very familiar faces speaking. Her eyebrows raised, surprised to see her two fellow housemates talking. And then, she smiled. It looked like a good conversation. Peeking her head around the corner, she flashed a happy smile to both of them. “Not causing too much trouble I hope?” she teased, unbeknownst of the conversation the two Lionesses had just had.
“Mind if I join? If not, I can swing by later too....?”

Patrick came walking back toward the front of the train, his brown bag in tow. He was so annoyed his brothers would do such a thing. He was nearly 12 and shouldn’t have to roam a train like that. He was hoping he could find Skylar again and maybe catch up with her since it had been a while, and he hadn’t seen her shopping for school.
He peeked into carts here and there wondering if she’d still be with her friends or not. Maybe she was up visiting with some prefects. He didn’t want to check there. That made him far to nervous.
"Yeah, it was good. Really complicated to try to figure everything out but lots of fun so far. I've really only gathered my materials though, and made a few practice runes. I hope I can sit down and really make a set during the term. Between all the studying anyways." Yes, Runes were still her thing, and really not much had changed.
She listened, nodding. "I think I've heard of a cafe there. I feel like Em got a cake or something from there once." but there were lots of places in Ambleside, so who knew, right?... wait what? "errr, who's Darcy? And training for what?" What was she on about?
Woah, where did Olivia come from? Her entrance took Sam by surprise, but she grinned at the other girl, and said maybe a little too eagerly. "Not at all, come on in." It wasn't like the conversation with Mel was going badly, it was just weird, really weird. And she liked the other girl, okay?
Mel grinned when Sammy started describing how she was making runes – that sounded…well…like something Samantha would love. ”I can try and help you get materials for it if you want?” she offered with a grin…ah right Sammy hadn’t met Darce yet, ”Well…the Darcy I’m referring to is my Jarvey?” she grinned ”Kirk has her right now, we kind of trade her off because…that’s how we first met – talking about Jarveys” she admitted with a sly grin.
Right…
Sammy needed to meet Kirk too because…yeah, even though she’d been dating him for a while now it was important to her that Sammy at least got on well with him.
”right…I trained Darcy not to swear at people all that much…wait Vi? You’re here?”” Mel beamed and wiped a tear away from her face as stealthily as she could. Mel didn’t even notice (really) the eagerness in Sammy’s voice it was well…she was just as eager to have her there was well.
Weird conversations and everything but it was more than that – Vi was their mutual friend. It was better really to have her there with them…now where was Ace? Or Kirk?

Everything was so loud and so busy. Shera, who had been caught up in the excitement early on and also hadn't slept the night before was feeling the effects of that now as she wandered slowly to try to find herself a quiet carriage for a nap before she got to Hogwarts.
It took a while, but she finally found one, allowing herself to curl up on the seat with her kitten already asleep in her arms.
At least she could still dream about how excited she was to finally be going to Hogwarts.
Daehyun was excited.
And scared.
But mostly excited. And horrified of what was to come at Hogwarts.
All in all, he was looking forward to seeing the castle for the first time, and decided to push away the worries for a while, and instead enjoy the ride there. He loved to travel and spend hours looking out the window, but if only he could find a compartment that wasn't full and loud - the noise he could easily block, but he couldn't handle a bunch of pairs of eyes staring at him when he intruded in an already full compartment, so he walked further down the hall, and kept searching.
He sighed. About to give up, he spotted a compartment that seemed empty at a first glance, but as he got closer, he couldn't help the face-splitting smile that his lips had stretched into as he recognized the only person inside. He slid the door open slowly, hoping he wouldn't scare her, and he had to purse his lips to keep the grin at bay. "Can I-can I join you?"
It was only then that his eyes had landed on a ball of fluff in her arms, and it took all his willpower not to squeal like a five year old girl at the sight.

That's when his eyes came across two girls sitting in one of the cabins, one of them was carrying a really cool broom while they other seemed settled in.
Bubbly like every other time, Aaron wondered over to the two. "Hi! Do you mind if I join you two? My name's Aaron by the way." Grinning from ear to ear, the firstie couldn't help but laugh a bit after saying that. He was just so excited about everything that was happening. Life couldn't have been any better right now for him.

Skylar wasn't sure how Hattie would feel about the brooms, given that her friend didn't fly for her own reasons, so when the blond commented with a nice, well, that was just about the best compliment she could receive from someone who was against the sport. If it had been anyone else, she might have snapped about this one being TOP OF THE LINE and complaining for not seeming to care, but a nice from Hattie was just as good as caring as Skylar could have hoped.
"An entire collection? Wow. How many paintings does that include?" Skylar inquired about that, because she was actually genuinely curious even if she didn't care for art much herself. "Do I get an autographed painting?" Cause best friend rights and all.
That was when the compartment door slid open and a small entered, very bravely and confidently asking about joining them. "Nah, of course not. First train ride? I'm Skylar... I'll be a sixth year." And captain too, but if he wanted to ask about that, well, he could see the badge pinned to her shirt...

Harriet just smiled at her friend. She knew she didn't like quidditch that much, but she could appreciate a good broom. It wasn't really her decision to not fly, it was more for her health. She didn't need to be falling off of a broom any time soon. That would not be good. She was happy for her friend though. Sky deserved to be the captain, she had worked hard to get where she had with her qudditch. Hattie wondered if Sky would ever play Pro. That would be cool to have a best friend who was a pro quidditch player.
"I'm aiming for at least 10. Make it worth people going to see it" Hattie explained with a smile. It would take time, but she knew it would be worth it. "I've got four at the moment" So she still had a few to do. But she was trying to plan them out, so that they all made sense. At the moment it was mostly hogwarts landscapes, but she liked it and they were all pretty.
She was about to speak again when someone joined them in the compartment. "Of course you can" They were nice people, and so they would look after him. "I'm Harriet" And that was nice. And oh. There was another person peaking in to their compartment. "Hi?" She kind of recognised hi, but wasn't too sure.

Mara was way too nervous to see where she was going. One moment, she was peaking into compartments trying to find an empty one, the next she had bumped into a boy. "I'm so so sorry!" she immediately blurted out. "I'm Mara and I'm very nervous." she quickly put her hands to her mouth and took a step back, worried that the first thing she would do was incite trouble with an older student.
Taking a moment to collect herself, she took a deep breath and lift her head to look him straight in the eyes and spoke out. "As you can see, I'm not very used to all this train... things. Once again, very sorry."

Wow. Ten? Skylar was stunned because she couldn't even imagine making ONE painting, but that was why she left the artsy stuff to Hattie. She was almost halfway too?? Also, why did she just ignore the question about her getting an autographed painting? She was good with the promotion thing, so surely gifting one to a friend would help boost promotion, wouldn't it?
But before Skylar could inquire again about the autographed painting, the small boy (Aaron) was also being welcomed by Hattie and then there was Patrick back peeking in on compartments and some girl crashed into him??! Reflexes, the sixth year rose from her seat to poke her head out of the compartment.

A weight had been lifted off the boy's shoulders, thank Merlin for that. Both of the two older girls seemed nice to let Aaron sit with them. Upon closer inspection of the one girl's uniform, Skylar's, it appeared to be as if she was the Captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team. That was certainly cool. "Whooooooaaaaaa. Are you captain of the Quidditch Team?" The firstie said in amazement.
Then there was the other girl, Harriet, She seemed to be super friendly too. Everything was going according too plan for the boy. He was making new friends, both first years and older students a like, he got his first ever wand which he proudly displayed in his holster around his hip. Hungarian Horn Tail skin, one of the better leathers from dragons. Aloud Aaron had said to the group, "So what year are you guys gonna be in?"
That's when two others had joined their presence. Looking over at the two he shot them a warm and radiant smile filled with happy and positive vibes."Hi! My name's Aaron! What are your names?" A then a small laugh came out.

Sam and Mel...... The conversation seemed good to her but all of a sudden Vi doubted that thought. Hmm... was it a little awkward? Maybe to her?
Nah. That was probably just Vi overthinking once again.
Classic.
"No, I'm a figment of your imagination," she teased with a wicked twinkle in her eye before noticing that Mel's eyes looked a little misty. Had she been... crying? The now blonde dismissed that thought for the moment and then smiled at both Lionesses. "But seriously I am here." She wasn't some hologram or copy.... Was it even possible to create a copy of herself and send it somewhere else. There'd have to be some sort of charm.... If not, she could research that. But anyway- that WAS besides the point.
Great! She could join them. Stepping further into the room, she took a seat and nodded. "Yep, I needed a walk anyway. Being in the Prefects Compartment was making me feel a little... anxious... I guess? And besides, I wanted to come see where you two ended up!"
Offering a smile, she glanced at both of them. "So how were you summers?"

Whipping his head around to make sure the person was alright he was treated with a little girl, staring straight at him. “Its okay that you bumped into me. It happens Mara.” He mumbled hoping that the little girl wouldn’t burst into tears... he didn’t do tears. He turned looking back into the compartment seeing Skylar and two others. He didn’t recognize the other but he looked to be a firstie since he was about the same age as him.
“Hi Harriet, Patrick.” He looked at the other boy noticing that his name was Aaron. He lifted his arm up, “Oh yeah. This thing was back somewhere in the back of the train because my older twin brothers thought it would be funny to do what my oldest brother did to them growing up.” He rolled his eyes annoyed by their behavior. “How’s it going in here?” He sat down waiting to see if Mara would join them or not.

Before Mara could say something back to the boy, they seemed to have attracted the attention many students in one compartment. Many... students... Hogwarts will be even worse! ,she recalled. Truthfully, she wasn't sure of why she was so nervous about meeting other students. She was more then used to being surrounded by... people. "Thanks... Yes, Mara. I'm new..." She brought her hand to her chest, absentmindedly pointing at herself. "Nice to meet you, Skylar." She looked over at the boy "And you too, Patrick." she added. "Thank you for your invitation, i would be delighted to join you all."Good... Nice pauses and breaths. You can do this! They're just people. Older, cooler people, but... people! Oh... Merlin.
With this, she entered the compartment and sat down.
The robes of the older girl also got her attention. "You're from the snake house! I forgot.... Sly... something? Seems cool!" she shrugged. "I actually don't know much about it." The firstie had done some reading on Hogwarts history before embarking on her adventure, but she had memorized the most random things. "I wonder which house I'll be sorted into!" she exclaimed to no one in particular.

There seemed to be a lot of introductions going around... There was Skylar, Patrick, Aaron and another girl. "Hi, Aaron, I'm Mara!" she waved her hand slightly. "Nice to meet you." She took an immediate liking to him as his radiant smile exhibited friendliness. She was actually quite unsure of who knew who by then, but figured she should just settle in and let their conversations flow... However, she was too curious and too chatty to just sit quietly. She listened to Patrick and replied: "Oh, you have twin brothers? And an even older brother? Yikes...I don't think I want to ask what they did..." she said before she could stop herself. "It must be hectic all the time at your place! I have three older siblings. It's chaos sometimes."
Despite the slow opening of the compartment door, that was enough to jolt Shera out of her nap. Probably the result of having siblings. It usually meant that she was woken rather rudely, no matter how quietly a door was opened. Blinking a few times after feeling disorientated for a moment she finally caught up to the fact that she was on the Hogwarts Express.
And Daehyun was in front of her and stammering a question. It took another 10 seconds for Shera's brain to catch up to what he had said as she yawned.
Then she couldn't help the still tired wide smile crossing her face. "Of course you can join me," like she were going to say no to him. It was however rather promising that he had come and found her and wanted to join her, rather than her needing to find him at a later point in time and not asking. Conclusion, he actually wanted her company, which meant that they were clearly friends.
"How are you feeling?" because despite her own excitement, she was also ridiculously nervous. And had a number of dreams of being kicked out of Hogwarts because the sorting hat wasn't sure where to place her.
Well, thank Merlin she was welcomed in this compartment. Vivian beamed as she let herself inside and slid the compartment door shut. And the hug? The blond definitely liked hugs and so she opened her arms to embrace Kye. She hadn't seen her the whole summer, which the prefect felt should definitely change. Summer meet-ups were a big thing! "That's good! Do you mind if I stay here for a while?" she asked, releasing from the hug afterwards.
"My summer was great! There were some pretty cool pool parties and I visited other places too," Vivian shared. She definitely enjoyed exploring Vienna with her family, and made a couple of visits to Chase's place in Edinburgh too. It was a great summer, over all. "Now, you tell me about yours." Vivian tugged on Kye's arm as she went to sit opposite her cat. Was that Kye's cat? The blond made a mental note to look for her Kneazle too, maybe later.
"That's awesome!" Kye remarked. "Well, I spent a month in Italy with my cousin which was a pretty fun time, but otherwise just a few parties at my grandmother's though, not many people our age usually."
Man, she wished she had gone to parties with people her age instead! She made a mental note to try and keep up with Vivi this year. Extroversion!
It will happen!

He couldn't help but smile when she'd accepted him in the compartment, though immediately realized she must've been sleeping, which was such a different image from when they'd first met, and Shera had been a ball of energetic sunshine. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you." Was she a grumpy sleeper? Was she one that treasured sleep more than anything in the world? Because then he would be in trouble.
"Nervous would be an understatement for how I'm feeling right now." Not to mention the sorting ceremony. He'd spent sleepless nights thinking about it, as if it would change the outcome in any way. He was nearly sure he wouldn't meet his parents' expectations, and then he would have one long letter to write. "What about you? Looking forward to the boat ride to Hogwarts?" His father had mentioned it, though reluctant to spoil too much, but he hoped it would be as fantastic as he'd imagined his first glimpse of the castle.
His eyes strayed again to the ball of fluff in Shera's arms. Could he- would she mind if he petted the small creature?
