The Beetle, a ruby red Volkswagen Beetle with large insect wings on either side, will be the temporary home of Ilvermorny staff and students while they are guests of Hogwarts. The vehicle came to Ilvermorny many years ago thanks to avid antique collector and former headmaster Jeremiah Seymour, who donated it to the school following his retirement. Some years after, a group of mischievous teens found the Beetle and, ironically, gave it wings, antennae, and the ability of flight. An Undetectable Extension Charm was placed on the vehicle, and it has been used for travelling purposes ever since.
Upon opening the trunk of the Beetle and climbing in, you will find yourself in a rather spacious place. It will not take you very long to forget that they are actually inside a vehicle, for within looks like the grounds of a secluded hotel. Ones trek will first take you through a green lawn that is connected to the patio hangout. To enter the building, you need only enter through the double glass doors. From within a maze of hallways can be accessed and take you to the Pukwudgie-ran coffeehouse, the rooms where the boys and girls will sleep, and a trampoline park to keep everyone healthy and having fun.

Your Ilvermorny student can be posted in this forum; Hogwarts pupils, however, are NOT allowed. This is a private area for the staff and students of Ilvermorny. All Hogwarts students should be played elsewhere in the RPG.

As JKR's canon of Ilvermorny has its limitations and this is the first time Ilvermorny is an active part of the Hogwarts RPG plot, the SnitchSeeker canon of the school will be developed over the course of the term. The following are questions that members have directly asked the Hogwarts RPG Admin and the answers that various members of staff have collaboratively come up with:
What year do students from Ilvermorny take their exams? Are they similar to OWLs/NEWTs? Or something different entirely?
Ilvermorny students do NOT take the OWLs/NEWTs that students at Hogwarts do. They have their own equivalent, as many other wizarding schools do (such as Beauxbatons). Students of Ilvermorny take the JARVEY tests (Juxtaposed Assessments for Reviewing Versatile Experienced Youth) during their sixth year. This is a play on the American ACT/SAT standardized tests that are typically taken junior year of high school, similar to how the OWLs and NEWTs are a play on Britain's GCSE and A-Levels.
Text Cut: How JARVEY Scoring Works
For the sake of simplicity (because actual ACT scoring is #cray), the JARVEY exam for each subject is measured on a scale of 0 to 36 (0 meaning you earned 0%; 36 meaning you earned 100%). Below is a conversion of the JARVEY scoring:
Quodpot is supposed to be a largely American thing. Would they have House teams the way Hogwarts has Quidditch teams?
In America, Quodpot is to Quidditch as American Football is to Footbal (Soccer). Quodpot and Quidditch are both played at Ilvermorny and do have House teams like Hogwarts has teams for Quidditch. There is quite a fanbase in America for Quidditch (as shown by the American National Quidditch team that plays in the Quidditch World Cup and various United States League teams scattered throughout the country: the Fitchburg Finches of Massachusetts and the Sweetwater All-Stars of Texas), but it is JKR canon for Quodpot to be the more popular of the two sports.
Were Ilvermorny students allowed to bring their familiars/pets with them to Hogwarts?
The current guests of Ilvermorny were allowed to bring TRADITIONAL familiars/pets with them (owl, cat, rat, toad, and pygmy puff). All other pets were left behind/stayed at home. The familiars/pets of Ilvermorny characters may leave the Beetle, but keep in mind that Hogwarts is not responsible for the loss or death of any animal belonging to an Ilvermorny student.
Do students from Hogwarts and students from Ilvermorny use the same currency?
No, they do not. In the United Kingdom, wizardfolk use Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts. In America, however, the currency is the Dragot and the Sprink.
Are there prefects/HBs/HGs at Ilvermorny?
Yes, though the selection process is a little different than Hogwarts. Prefects are 5th-7th year students consisting of two students per year and house (gender does not matter -- there can be 1 boy and 1 girl per house or 2 girls or 2 boys; it all depends on student votes), resulting in a grand total of 24 prefects. 2 prefects that are in their final year serve as Head Prefects; the prefect with the most votes serves a 'President' role, whereas the runner-up serves a 'Vice President' role. Prefects are elected the year before by the peers in their own year, following a good-natured election campaign.
Will the Ilvermorny students and staff be heading back to the Americas for Christmas/the holidays?
Those wishing to return home for Christmas/the holidays will have the opportunity to do so. Rather than being taken back via the Beetle, these students will be going home and returning to Hogwarts by portkey. Students wishing to stay in Britain have the choice of going home with a Hogwarts student or staying at the castle.

Ilvermorny Biographies
This term staff and students from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be guests at Hogwarts to participate in the International Magical Pupil Standoff (IMPS). These visitors will be arriving to the castle IC in October (within the next OOC week). So what does this mean for you?
This term everyone will be allowed to play a second character, someone from Ilvermorny, in the Hogwarts RPG. If you wish to play an Ilvermorny character in the Hogwarts RPG, you MUST post a biography for them in this thread first.
Below are some important details to keep in mind:
You may play ONE Ilvermorny character. Once you post their biography in this thread, that is the character you must stick with for the rest of the term. Furthermore, the Ilvermorny headmistress as well as History of Magic and Potions professors will be played for plot purposes.
Your Ilvermorny character must be a STUDENT. Your character's House, gender, age, etc. is entirely up to you. You are permitted at use an existing Ilvermorny student or you may create one.
Your Ilvermorny student will not be selected to compete in IMPS. We will have red accounts in place with anonymous members (selected non-Hogwarts staff) playing them throughout the term.
Your Ilvermorny student will not have access to the common rooms. A special forum will be made just for them to reside in while they are at Hogwarts, and the rest of the castle will be open to them for interaction purposes.

Meredith grew up in Salem with her family up until the time her parents divorced when she was ten years old. Though the two remained close even after their divorce, Meredith’s father decided to return to London where he was raised. It was decided that Ellis and Meredith would go with him so that they could attend Hogwarts, the school both parents deemed best for their children. As Evie was just a toddler at the time, she remained with Libby in Salem and the two older children returned each summer break to be with their mother. Though the split and move were hard on Meredith, her spirits remained high.
At Hogwarts Meredith excelled in the areas of Charms and History of Magic, though her true passion remained Muggle Studies. Having a muggle mother gave her a different perspective and she immersed herself in the muggle world as much as possible, appreciating her magic more because of her experiences. Summers were spent doing some of the more daring muggle activities with her older brother when they were both old enough. Sky diving and bungee jumping were among her favorite activities.
Uni proved to be a lot of work for the brunette and though Meri had confidence for days, she struggled her way through the rigorous program she was in. Her personality helped, earning her many friends in the same major who helped support her and offered her advice that aided in getting her through the program. She even earned high marks, something she’s been known to brag about on occasion.
Meredith married her university sweetheart, Callum, a year and a half after they graduated from school. The two remained in Salem and started their family there, and though she had her mother and sister close by, Meredith missed her father and brother who remained in London. This is why returning there when a job opened at Hogwarts was a no brainer. As Callum’s job allowed for him to relocate without much fuss, the Moxley family packed up and moved across the pond, as they say.
Moxley enjoyed her time as a Muggle Studies professor immensely and went out of her way to get Hogwartians excited about the subject matter. Her enthusiasm and commitment to her students seemed to help and she was offered the Headmistress position at the school after the beloved Headmaster Botros fell ill. While there, she did her best to lead with a firm hand and an open heart.
When Moxley was offered the opportunity to switch places with another Headmistress or Headmaster and lead in a different school community, she accepted, and landed a spot in Ilvermorny where she remained. The school and location reminded her of her childhood and memories she'd made in New England.
Personality:
Meredith can be a bit of a handful. She loves to have fun and has always been outgoing and completely confident in who she is. She’s sometimes loud and her tendency to be overly blunt with people has rubbed some the wrong way though others find it hilarious, honestly. She thinks she’s funny, much funnier than she actually is. Who says laughing at your own jokes is a bad thing, yeah? She’ll never back down from a dare as long as she won’t hurt her family or get fired for completing it. She encourages out of the box thinkers. She hates whiners. You’ll either love her or hate her and she’ll be the same way with you but if you win her over, she’ll be your friend for life.

The story of Dakota and Logan started during a Spring Break vacation to the Gulf Shores, Alabama. Dakota, born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, studied at the Wizarding College of Alabama. Logan, born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, was studying in a muggle college in the very same area. During a trip to a bar in the middle of Spring Break, the two lovers met and hit it off immediately. Many trials and tribulations followed but the two lovers made it through and ended up getting married once they had graduated. It wasn’t long before the twins arrived, sealing the wholesome family look.
Growing up, both twins were practically attached to the hip, despite their genital differences. Any sight of sibling rivalry was used to coat an undying amount of sibling love for one another. Other students in their year would always comment on never seeing one without the other. Therefore, it was hardly surprising when both twins started showing signs of magic at the same age and at the same time. Because of this, Logan and Dakota made the decision to move the family to Le Feu, an all wizarding town a little further south.
Le Feu is an all magical town along the Mobile Bay that has a strong French history. In the mid-16th century, a number of French settlers came to America and settled there, with a large number of wizarding folk finding and taking over Le Feu. Because of this, many future generations have had the French language embedded into their curriculum, Duncan and Melanie included. Logan and Dakota, upon visiting the area once, decided that moving was a safe option.
However, Le Feu wasn’t all it was made out to be. While on the outside, the town looked like the perfect place to raise two magical children with the knowledge that they’ll be able to practice magic freely, it was actually a highly discriminatory place to raise impressionable minds. The magical folk in Le Feu prided themselves in their magical capabilities and, as a result, scorned anyone who didn’t hold the same ounce of magical blood that they did. No-Majs and those of No-Maj descent were treated particularly badly but even half-bloods received their share of foul, derogatory language. This was a fact that the Williams’ found out very soon after moving into their new residence.
Slurs followed the family around and weren’t missed by the twins. However, considering the fact that they had only just moved into the premises, moving out wasn’t an option just yet. The family had to persevere and deal with the comments while still upholding key family values. As a result, the siblings felt more connected than ever, always willing to have the other’s back should they be in any kind of trouble.
One day, when the twins had reached the age of ten, there was a particularly cruel case of discrimination. A group of elitist witches and wizards were bored and decided to ease their boredom by picking on a helpless No-Maj-born victim. Mr Williams, who had been in the vicinity, happened to see what was going on and, in an attempt to do some good, tried to stop the fight. Unfortunately, this resulted in the group of magical folk turning their aggressiveness towards Mr Williams himself. Mr Williams’s lack of magical ability mixed with being outnumbered by the bullies led to his demise.
Dakota, Melanie and Duncan were devastated with the news. This seemed to be the last straw for all of them and it wasn’t long before the remaining Williams’ moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Dakota’s family helped to look after the kids. The siblings were scarred from the incidents in Le Feu and, as a result, ended up becoming slightly weary of purebloods in general. A hard shell and complete devotion to protecting his family grew within Duncan. Nobody was allowed to lay a finger on his women.
At the age of eleven, the acceptance came and Duncan had mixed emotions about going to Ilvermorny. While he was enthusiastic about the possibility of furthering his magical knowledge, he did not like the idea of leaving his mother behind, nor did he like the idea of being in the vicinity of purebloods who could potentially cause them some harm. Some coaxing was required and eventually, he accepted the idea of attending a wizarding boarding school.
Upon arriving at Ilvermorny, Duncan was sorted into Horned Serpent where, moments later, Melanie joined him. The house that favoured scholars moulded and shaped Duncan into an intelligent and yet meticulous young man. He soared in subjects like Potions, where attention to detail was a necessity for the practitioner to brew the perfect potion. Other subjects that required a more creative thinking strategy were ones that the boy struggled to grasp the concept of. His brain couldn’t wrap itself around the idea that a logical way of thinking couldn’t be applied to a subject. Looking at you, Divination.
It was to no one’s surprize that Duncan ended up getting top marks in Potions, Herbology, Arithmancy, Charms, Transfiguration and Astronomy, as well as reasonable grades in Care of Magical Creatures and Defence Against the Dark Arts. The male twin went forth to pursue a career in Potions by going to a wizarding university to pick up a Potions major. His initial desire was to go to the Wizarding University of San Francisco, California, to complete his studies but, upon further reflection, the man couldn’t bear to be so far away from his twin sister and his mother. So, he ended up settling for the Wizarding University of Boston, Massachusetts, where, alongside his Potions major, he also took up a Herbology minor.
After four years of laboratory work, experiments and studying, Duncan graduated with an undergraduate degree. While Melanie went off to do a masters degree, Duncan had a change of heart from studying. Along with a small group of friends, the man went off to a research trip to Brazil to try and find the latest and most innovative plants, both magical and mundane, to use as Potions ingredients. There were some successful experimentation but most were rather unsuccessful and resulted in some nasty bruises and scars, some of which still faintly linger on the man to this very day. Dare to ask about them and he’ll give you a different tale each time.
The research venture took a further three years out of the man’s life and before he knew it, he was back in Philadelphia with his family. While he had been happy to be researching away from home, the man had grown very homesick and found that he didn’t want to stay far away from his family anymore. It was because of this reason that he soon found himself a job working for an upcoming potioneer’s apothecary in Philadelphia. It was dreary and boring work, especially compared to the adrenaline rush from his recent trip, but it paid the bills.
Duncan stayed in the job for a further four years, where he rose from a simple worker to a supervisor role. It was then, on a bright summer’s day, that he decided that as much as he liked working with potions, he couldn’t see himself working in an apothecary for the rest of his life. He found, during his time at the apothecary, that he liked talking to others about potions, especially those who were enthusiastic about the subject as well. While he wasn’t an open individual, he liked passing on this little bit of knowledge and it was because of this that he went back to the Wizarding University of Boston, Massachusetts, to earn a teaching qualification. The following school year was one in which he had to be stationed in a wizarding elementary school for the entirety of that year while a qualified teacher sat in on his lessons. His lessons consisted of basic potions skills and some of the more basic potions for younger students to learn about.
At the end of that school year, Duncan used his qualification to land him a permanent teaching role at the same wizarding elementary school. Word from the younger students he taught had gotten out to their parents, some of whom had approached him for private tutoring opportunities. At first, there were only one or two older students who needed extra help with Potions but eventually, the numbers grew and he found himself earning better money through the private tutoring than he did through the elementary school he worked in. Because of this, Duncan quit his job to focus on tutoring full time.
His next proper job came in the summer of 2092, where, upon hearing of a vacancy in the Potions department at Ilvermorny, Duncan applied. With some bragging and mild flirting, he landed himself the job of Potions Master and, along with Melanie’s help, secured the task of heading off to Hogwarts for the IMPS Competition. Thank you, Mel.
ⅶ personality
There are many areas to Duncan’s personality with the most obvious being a studious nature and the least obvious being of a cunning disposition. Intelligent, dedicated and meticulous are words often thrown in when describing Ilvermorny’s Potions Master but stubborn, brutally honest and often slippery in nature are also words that have been thrown into the mix as well. You never really know where you stand with the man. Even those that are closest to him have to be careful not to slip up around him or betray him in any way. Frankly, he has very little time or patience for other people’s shortcomings.
His loyalty shines when it comes to his family; he would do almost anything for his mother and twin sister, whether it’s going against his own rules and guidelines or, even, murder. “Any means necessary” is often a thought process that’s running through the man’s mind when he’s about to fulfill a task. Every task, whether it be big or small, have to be completed to the best of his abilities and Duncan isn’t afraid to use other means to get this done. According to him, as long as the task is complete, that’s all that matters.
Feelings and emotions fit into the creative spectrum in which the man knows nothing about, aside from personal relationships. Frankly, he doesn’t see how sparing someone’s feelings could do them any good. Brutal honesty and a letting them know the real deal from the get go is far better than a sugar-coated version of events. A lie is a lie, after all.

Mother born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and Father born in Mobile, the two met at a bar while the two were both on Spring Break in Gulf Shores, AL. Mom went to college somewhere in the area, and the two hit it off immediately. When she graduated university, the two married and had twins shortly after. Once Duncan and Melanie showed signs of magic, the two made an executive decision to move the nearby all wizarding town of Le Feu. Little did they know the town was not all that it seemed.
Le Feu, a French town settled by magical folk back when the French first came to the Americas, is all magic community along the Mobile Bay. Sparkling and warm in the summer, and bristling in the winter, the tourism flourishes in the summer months. Having visited once, the couple decided to relocate to the town so that their children would have an upper hand once they were finally able to start at Ilvermorny. They were paranoid having a muggle parent would somehow restrict them in magical knowledge.
Le Feu had a dark secret. The town secretly held muggles in lesser regard than magical folk, and their isolation and willingness to reside only surrounded by other magical people became apparent to the Williams’. After receiving much negativity after they moved in, the two, with their young children, decided to think about about moving up north, back to Philadelphia. It would bring the kids closer to Ilvermorny, where they would attend school once school aged.
The two siblings grew up hearing slurs thrown at them for being dirty blooded and sometimes physical action would be taken. The parents had initially thought it would be a great place for their kids to grow up...not the case.
One day, there was a fight that broke out because a bunch of elitist witches/wizards got bored and Mr. Williams tried to defend the victims. This led said parent being brutally murdered and the kids and their mom had to move. She decided to go ahead and move to Philadelphia to escape the fights and general prejudice. Since then, the kids (not kids anymore) have been a bit cautious about purebloods; there are secrets Melanie wishes to keep in regard to her feelings about this.
She attended Ilvermorny, was sorted into Horned Serpent. She soared as a student there. Melanie had always been intelligent, but she thrived in the classroom setting. She graduated and went to the same college as her brother at Wizarding University of Boston, then went on to get her masters at Emerson. Her nonprofit job was a job of her dreams, but after spending a year with it, she felt drawn to...other things. Quiet and focused mostly on himself and his own thoughts, Kyle gives off a sullen, moody impression to those around him, but he craves the intimacy of meaningful friendships (something he's never really had) a lot more than he lets on. Kyle has a particular obsession with standing out; he is determined to be different, and eschews normality as and when he can. More recently, since his older brother graduated from Ilvermorny, he has developed desire to be completely unpredictable, and to surprise people all the time, so that they never know what to expect of him, and never really know who he is. He faces a constant inner struggle of wanting to stand out, but not wanting to be noticed, which leads to many impulsive decisions that he tends to later regret.
A keen seeker of knowledge, Kyle does research projects in his spare time, purely for fun, and fancies himself an academic, though his tendency to obsess over his personal areas of study sometimes mean that these take priority over his actual school work, leading to a lot of rushed pieces of homework completed in the seconds before the class starts. The youngest of two boys born to No-Maj parents, Kyle was born and raised in the province of Quebec, in Canada, and was raised to speak both French and English. He had a normal enough childhood - normal but for regular episodes of strangeness which seemed to follow he and his brother everywhere. Despite sharing this experience, as the boys grew older, Kyle started to feel as though he was living in his older brother's shadow, especially when Tristan turned out to be charismatic and effortlessly popular at their elementary school, whilst Kyle struggled to make even a few friends - though he was a very bright student right from the off.
When Kyle was eight, the family were visited by a strangely dressed witch, who revealed that she taught at a school for magic - Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - and Tristan had been accepted as a student. The family was stunned, but their surprise did not last long, as the strange happenings were so easily explained by the professor that had visited them. Before long, Tristan was off to Ilvermorny, leaving Kyle and their parents behind. Kyle did not miss his brother all that much, as they mostly fought when they were together, and though he was jealous that Tristan was off learning magic, he was grateful for the undivided attention of his parents, something he had never had before.
However, this blissful period was not to last. Though Tristan was by now at school for the majority of the year, Kyle was still expected to live up to the standards set by his big brother. When Tristan came home for the holidays, he would spend his time bragging about how he had been sorted into Thunderbird, and had turned out to be a natural at flying, before regaling the family with stories about his many friends and the fun they had together. This trend continued every year, and as it did, Kyle's anxieties about whether he would even get an Ilvermorny acceptance letter were frequently pushed to the forefront of his mind. His worries turned out to be for nothing, however, as his own Ilvermorny letter showed up on the morning of his eleventh birthday. This time, though, it was not delivered by a witch or wizard, only a handsome barn owl.
Now certain of his acceptance to Ilvermorny, Kyle spent the next year poring over his textbooks, learning everything about the school and its history, and as much magical theory as he could remember. As well as having an innate thirst for knowledge, Kyle also knew that his brother (who was more of a social spirit than a scholar) had average grades at best, and he was determined to build a very separate and distinct reputation for himself, distancing himself from his brother's popularity as much as possible.
When the time came for Kyle to be sorted, and he stood before the carvings of the four house mascots, two of the carvings reacted: the Thunderbird flapped its wings, and the Horned Serpent's crystal began to glow. Given the choice between the two houses, Kyle chose Horned Serpent, a decision that ended up widening the rift between him and his older Thunderbird brother.
At Ilvermorny, Kyle finally found a way to stand out in his own right. As he had expected, he excelled in his classes, mastering both practical magic and magical theory with a natural ease. He soon established himself as an exceptional student, but his problems with making friends continued, and he managed to keep only a few select friendships going, though not for want of trying. His introverted nature stopped him from being much of a social butterfly, and Kyle still felt haunted by the fact that he was almost constantly referred to as 'Tristan's little brother'.
In the summer after his third year, and Tristan's sixth year, the boys came home to some rather upsetting news. Their parents were divorcing; having realised in the time spent together without the boys around that they had argued almost non-stop, and eventually came to the conclusion that they no longer had anything in common, and had no real desire to stay together any longer. Tristan was the more upset of the brothers, but Kyle found himself utterly unmoved.
After the divorce, Kyle redoubled his efforts to seek out a distinct identity for himself, this time distancing himself from the family as a whole. With the permission of both of his parents (who believed their son was reeling from the divorce), he moved out of province to live instead in Saskatchewan with his maternal grandparents, with whom he got along with better than he did his actual parents.
Kyle's fifth year marked the start of his brother-less years at Ilvermorny. Enthused by the prospect of finally being able to stand out as his own person, he practically jumped at the chance to go along on the trip to Hogwarts on the IMPS excursion, eager to be in a new environment and have something as close to a fresh start as he could get.

History and More: Aurora is the youngest child in a family of 10, the daughter of Henry Chae (Head Obliviator for MACUSA) and Lilith Chae (an renowned wizarding poet and songwriter). Both of her parents come from long lines of witches and wizards - her great grandfather was actually the Minister of the Lebanese Ministry of Magic for a brief period of time. Standards run high in the Chae household - you are expected to get good grades, go to university, and establish a stable career before settling down to have a family. No questions asked.

Personality:Aurora's ambitious personality has caused her to become quite callous at times to get what she wants, and humility is not one of her strong suits. Her inability to decide what she wants to do in life stems from her desire to learn anything and everything she can - except when it comes to Muggle Studies. That's just a waste of time.

Silent to the point of being occasionally brooding but once he opens up to someone (usually friends or family) he has got a heart of gold. It is not that he is shy, although that is the perception some get of him. Others end up thinking he is stand-offish. In a way he might be but his actions are not typically a result of not wanting to interact, it is more a case of not knowing what to say or how to appropriately display his interest in the current conversation. In many ways he can be described as socially awkward for this reason.

Acres and acres of farmland, livestock, orchards and trucks; that was how Aiden Jones grew up. Being born to no maj parents, he sometimes felt the odd one out. At the age of 6 he displayed his first signs of magic, something that left his parents stunned and confused. As they did not know anyone else in the family who possessed these strange powers, it set the entire family on edge. He could not be left alone with his younger siblings and when he helped in the field, he was allowed very little stimulus to prevent any episodes of accidental magic.
Gradually he became more accepted, once they realized he had done nothing truly detrimental and his magic became less threatening.
Sometimes it would come in unexpectedly handy around the farm and once or twice had made the harvest a breeze.
By the time he was of age to attend Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, his parents had become so accustomed to having him around for the extra magical help that they almost withheld him from school, however they realized it would do him wonders to be among those of his own kind and learn more about himself than they could ever hope to teach him.
While there he was sorted into the house that represents the heart of the wizard, Pukwudgie where he has since made many friends and has slowly begun to find his true passions in the world.

Louise is the oldest of three children, born on a cold, rainy Christmas morning in Seattle. She and her family moved to New York when she was three, in time for her sister to be born. Valerie was always difficult and stubborn, even before she was born as she came into this world in breech position. Born into an impoverished family in the middle of the night on a particularly windy day, Valerie was often left in the care of the family's good Samaritan neighbors starting as an infant. Her father spent the majority of his earnings as a bankteller at the Black Jack table rather than providing for his family, thus resulting in her mother working long hours at a juice production factory and would come home each night with a carton of juice she had pressed and boxed herself that day which she shared with her children over crusts of bread she had salvaged from the discarded bits of sandwiches the factory also produced. These moments of being huddled around by their matchbox sized kitchen table eating crusts of bread and sharing a carton of juice (typically apple but on the rare special occasion cranberry) were the favorite moments of Valerie's day.
A little after her sixth birthday in the midst of a terrible tantrum, a sizable earthquake shook the area leaving her home (and only her home for some reason) in shambles with Valerie the sole survivor of her family. She was then sent to live with her paternal uncle's (and godfather) family in Tacoma, Washington.

HISTORY
Maddox Johanson was born to Brigid & Jamison Johanson not ten minutes after her sister Clarissa. Though the two were inseparable Maddox seemed to always get herself into spots of trouble, something that seemed to get worse when their mother died in their early childhood. It was around the time of their mothers died that Maddox, Clarissa, and Jennifer seemed to have lost another so-called-sibling their Aunt by birth - Melbourne Johanson who had moved in with her brother Finnlay at the behest of their bereft father. Veronica came into the world one hot June day in the year 2079. She was a beautiful baby, and had a lovely start to her childhood. From a young age, she was close to both her parents, though sometimes it was a little hard for her due to their jobs keeping them both busy; her father was a curse-breaker, and her mother had become the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Ilvermorny. Still everything seemed to be perfect for the little girl. That was until she was six years old and her parents faced a huge blow to their marriage, not only impacting them but HER as well.
It had come out that her father had carried on an affair with a younger woman who was on his curse-breaking team. While Veronica was too little to understand everything that was going on, she did understand that her mother didn't want to have anything to do with her father anymore. All she knew was that he was trying to fix what he had done wrong and she was having no part of it. It was because of HER that the family was being broken up and she was now being split between both of her parents. That was when the resentment for her mother began, and time hasn't done anything to ease those feelings. It was so bad that when she had enrolled in Ilvermorny, Veronica outright REFUSED to attend Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons for the sole reason that her mother was the professor. Even though the subject interested her greatly, she couldn't stand to be taught by the woman who had put a stop to their happy family.
Needless to say that it came as a relief to Veronica when her mother had decided to leave Ilvermorny and make her way to Scotland, becoming the Headmistress at Hogwarts. Things were perfect up until the moment she discovered that she would be spending her Third Year at said school and with her mother. This was going to be an interesting term...
