In years past this room was called the Hogwarts Observatory Deck. This is the same circular room as before but Professor Salvatore remodeled it a bit. She added in some high tech telescopes all over the room for more than one student to use at a time. If all telescopes are being used while you're here please have a seat in one of the many comfortable couches in this room.
On the walls are star charts to help you with your work. If you forgot some parchment or quills there are some on the table in the corner with all the supplies that you can think of but please be sure to put them back where you found them.
The Telescope Deck allows you to look at the billions of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. You do not need to ask Professor Salvatore for permission to be in this room. This room is open for all students and professors to use. There's only two rules with this room, pick up after yourselves and put everything back where they belong. Professor Salvatore's classroom, office and other rooms are not a place for messy children, pick up after yourselves or you'll see her wrath.
This room is best used at night when you're able to see the stars.
Henry thought the observation deck of the astronomy tower would be a great place to meet Charlotte for an evening date. What was more romantic than star-gazing? And even though he didn't know his constellations as well as he probably should, there were plenty of star charts around. Not that he planned on getting all that scientific about it. He just wanted to look at the stars with his girlfriend.
He had sent her a little note earlier in the day asking her if she'd like to meet him up here after sundown. Once he was done with his prefect patrols for the day, he grabbed a couple butterbeers and cauldron cakes from the kitchen and made the long trek up to the astronomy tower.
Once he arrived, Henry found a seat on one of the couches near the wide,
open window area. Setting his things down, he stretched out his legs in front of him while he waited. It was good to sit down finally.

"I like your sweater, it's so colorful!" Not only did he think it suited her personality, but he thought she looked really nice too.
"I got us a few snacks too, while we look at some stars." He took her hand before heading back to the couch. "Any in particular you want to look for?" He certainly didn't mind which ones they looked at.

Kathleen Yang had a purpose in mind and that purpose was as noble and good as any Healer or Auror. She was out to profess her undying eternal everlasting fully in love love for Professor Keiyona Berkovich. the astronomer had caught Kathleen's eye during the feast- Literally how could she not have noticed? that graceful figure? those brown eyes full of charm and wisdom? the fullness of her rosy mouth?
How could a woman be as heavenly as the very bodies she studied? was this real life? was it a fantasy? Kathleen only knew one thing to be absolutely certain;
she was positively, absolutelyin love.
Wiggling around the telescopic area she looked for a place to stick her love letter, somewhere not tooooooo obvious but enough so that the witch would actually find it at some point or another. the Pukwudgie slinked and slithered as stealthily as she could in the hopes of finding the perfect spot, but it all seemed to feel just.... wrong.
KEIYONA BERKOVICH DESERVED SO MUCH MORE THAN THIS.
With a huff of pure frustration, Kathleen Yang clutched the letter to her chest and hurriedly left the Telescope Deck to look for a more suitable place to proclaim her love.

That cheerful attitude was one of the reasons that Henry liked Char so much. Sure, there were so many more reasons, but he could really appreciate her positivity. She just always seemed to have her own way of brightening the mood no matter what the situation.
"Well, it really suits you," he told her with a smile, handing her a butterbeer as he settled back against the couch. And he wasn't in a hurry to let go of her hand. He lightly played with her fingers as he casually leaned back to look out at some of the stars.
"Oh, that sounds fun," he grinned. Much better than looking for archaic shapes invented by people that were long gone. "We could make up ones that are relevant and meaningful to us." Yeah, he liked that idea a lot. Now, to find a grouping of stars that looked like... something. But first... "Cauldron cake?" He offered one before taking one for himself.

It wasn't often that Noelle ventured up to the Astronomy tower. She had even dropped the classes. But ... what was that saying? You don't realize how much you'll miss something until its gone? This was true.
Noelle actually missed stargazing. She wasn't any sort of Airey Flamsteed, but stars were pretty. They were to be admired.
Taking a break from training and studying, Noelle had made her way up to the astronomy tower. No one seemed to be in here at the moment. This was her chance. She'd gone late enough, towards dinner time, but not too late that getting back to her prefect duties or just in the common room in general before curfew, wouldnt be an issue.
Noelle smiled, remembering good times she had in the tower. She went to the scope and peered through it. Oh.... yeah. She missed the stars. Her head had been too grounded lately. Studying, training, focusing on her goals. She hadn't even done too much goofing off with Olly. She was grateful to the little break she was having now.

If Daisy was being honest with herself, she would consider the possibility that she had unconsciously sabotaged her Astronomy OWL just to spare her the walk to the tower. Living in the dungeons had his perks but the cons vastly outweighed them.
Still. She loved that jumper and she couldn't find it anywhere so a trek to the tower eventually became unavoidable.

Almost... almost
Noelle was trying to fix the view on the telescope to find one constellation that she knew existed. That was saying something because, again, Noelle did not have a particular interest in Astronomy, and therefore, did not pay attention or study like she was supposed to when she actually took the class. In fact, she had a P in her OWLs. it was a less than proud moment for her.
She had just found the constellation when a voice was heard behind her and Noelle jumped. Literally. Jumped. "Oh!" Merlin's beard. She hadn't been expecting anyone since dinner time. "Hey Daisy." She said recovering and offering her friend a grin and flushed cheeks. "Oh Ace has this shift."
But she had been caught goofing off rather than something more productive. "What are you doing up here? Not hungry tonight?" Knowing she was a quidditch player, she needed her calories. Especially with the trainings. Noelle bent back down to the telescope, peering through it and finding that constellation once again.
She did miss looking at the stars.

Even if Daisy wanted to somewhat startle Noelle, she hadn't intended to scare the girl that much and a slight apologetical expression covered her features at the Gryffindor's jump. She always seemed to scare Noelle but maybe that was okay; just getting her instincts ready for her future career as an Auror.
Clearly, Daisy was just helping her practice.
Hands held behind her back, the Slytherin made her way further into the room, eyes darting across the floor distractedly. "Wait, you do shifts alone? That sounds potentially dangerous." She stopped near one of the telescopes and looked up at the Prefect. Maybe it was wrong of her to assume things --really, she could almost hear Levi's voice in her head telling her not to assume things and 'one example doesn't make a House'-- but sometimes it was just stronger than her.
Old habits and all that
Unconsciously, she touched the golden bracelet on her left wrist and smiled at the girl. "I'm on a quest, actually." And it was too early in her schedule for dinner, anyway. "Have you seen a jumper around, Christmas?"

Daisy seemed to pop up in the most random spots with Noelle. And scaring her. Well... not scaring... but spooking. There was a difference right?
Clearly, Noelle needed the practice if she wanted to be an auror.
"Well, we don't normally. But this is the Great Hall we are talking about. There are other prefects there. We kinda all work as a team." Noelle said, still peering through the scope. She leaned up, glancing at Daisy with a smile. She noticed Daisy touch a gold bracelet on her arm and then smile. Uhoo. Noelle knew that smile. She didn't say anything though.
"Quest?? Oh! I like that. What type of quest are we talking about?" Noelle asked, looking at her more eagerly than at the telescope. She reached up to play with her own snitch necklace. Anyone who knew her could probably guess who the necklace was from. 1: because Noelle was not a quidditch fan so she wouldn't have random jewelry. And 2: her boyfriend was a keeper. Heh. in all aspects.

There are also the staff members, so that should help." After all, if anything truly bad happened in the Great Hall during meal time, the staff would be quick to step in. Not that all of them ate at the same time the students did ... or were competent enough to successfully step in. Visibly, the Slytherin girl grimaces. "If they care enough. Sometimes I wonder..." Eh. As if suddenly remembering where she was, Daisy looks around, gaze stopping by the door for a few extra beats before looking back at the Prefect. Ruefully, she smiled. "The staff are all wonderful, of course."
Sure thing. But just in case anyone was eavesdropping.
She stopped her search of the room by one of the spare telescopes and distractedly looked into it, glancing at Noelle just in time to see her touch her own necklace. A chuckle threatened to bubble out of her and she bit her lip to stop it, looking through the telescope up at the stars and trying to remember their name. It proved a difficult task. "Not a really exciting quest, I should tell you. Don't get your hopes up." Leaning back, she grinned teasingly at her friend. "I am still a Slytherin. There will be no dragons to slay."
Just Noelle's confusion to deal with.
The Slytherin waved her hand about dismissively."Oh. Noël is French for Christmas. It sounds similar." She was however glad that Noelle had finally asked. "I'm hilarious, I don't know how people haven't noticed yet." Possibly because she wasn't, not really, but not for lack of trying. "A sweater." Slightly confused, she leaned against the telescope only for it to spin away and nearly cause her to fall on her backside. Thankfully, she caught herself just in time. And acted like nothing happened. Obviously. "Red and black. What did you think I meant?"

Yeah the professors. They were there too... Noelle had comments but she figured keeping them to herself would be a better thing than announcing them.
"Yeah... they are there too." Noelle said in agreement with Daisy, but thats all she would say on the matter. She did agree with Daisy though. If they cared enough. Well... not all. Some. A couple...
Noelle did catch that brief look though Daisy. She gave a small knowing smile. "Of course, they are... wonderful." Noelle said. Emphasis on the wonderful.
Ah.
So the quest wasn't a big one like Noelle was hoping for. The best thing she liked about Daisy was that she never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. Not even a prediction. So she was slightly disappointed when the quest was looking for a jumper. Which was a sweater... a red and black one.
"Nope. Haven't seen one around here. You lost it here?" She asked, a little quirky smile appearing on her face as she looked down at the gold bracelet on Daisy's wrist and made assumptions. Again, she toyed her necklace.
"Ah yeah. You're..... super funny." Noelle said about as convincing as her previous statement of professors being wonderful.Opps. She grinned though and looked around the room. She hadnt been looking for a sweater before. So maybe she could help find it now. "How've you been?? How you holding up with the competition?"

Well. That was interesting. Noelle was being very tight lipped about the staff but that smile and the tone of her voice spoke volumes. Daisy raised one eyebrow quizzically in the Prefect's direction; she had never realised Noelle had any issue with the staff. Not that it should be surprising, really. With the exception of, maybe, a handful of them, they were grossly incompetent most of the time. Finally, she laughed amusedly. "Maybe we should discuss how wonderful they are one of these days.. It wasn't a real suggestion but sometimes ranting could be helpful.
As a Prefect, Noelle probably had a lot of rant about.
And since the Gryffindor was a Prefect, Daisy eyed the peculiar smile on her friend's lips and found her cheeks warming up. Especially when she noticed the glance her bracelet received. "I'm not sure." Which, to be honest, was the truth but the way she looked at the floor for a beat too long probably made it look otherwise. "I was wearing it the last time I was up here." More blushing, this time completely unrelated to Noelle's smile. Time to divert the attention, then. "That's a nice necklace. I thought you weren't that into Quidditch."
Turns out, teasing a friend over their significant other was harder when said friend was teasing you, too.
Uhm.
She really was hilarious, even if Noelle didn't believe it; playfully, she rolled her eyes at her friend and moved away from the telescope. If this sweater was here, she better start searching the room. "Good. Busy. NEWT classes are ... intense." And even if her choice of career didn't necessarily depend on academia, it didn't mean she wanted to fail her examinations -- or get an A at some of them. But the competition made her stand straight to look at Noelle. She grimaced. "I'm fine, they have it worse. But.." Another eye roll, this time not so playful. "Dementors. Fight the willow. Those challenges are insane."
