French Apple Pie
You Will Need:
1 1⁄4 cups flour, plus more for dusting
12 tbsp. unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
1⁄4 tsp. kosher salt
7 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, and halved
1⁄4 cup sugar
1⁄2 cup apricot jam
Whipped cream, for serving
Medium bowl
Small bowl
Small saucepan
Wire rack
Pastry brush
Spoon
Plastic wrap
*Before you start*
Use Scouring Charm to clean all equipment
Instructions
1. Combine flour, 8 tbsp. butter, and salt in a bowl using Locomotor spell until pea-size crumbles form. Drizzle in 3 tbsp. ice-cold water (you may use Aguamenti for this) and continue mixing until dough is moistened.
2. Transfer dough to a work surface and form into a flat disk using Sternuntur; wrap in plastic wrap and use Frigidus to cool. Unwrap dough and transfer to a lightly floured work surface. Using Sternuntur, flatten dough into a 13″ circle and then transfer to a 11″-tart pan with a removable bottom; trim edges using Severing Charm; use Frigidus to chill.
3. Working with one apple half at a time, thinly slice into sections using Severing Charm, keeping slices together. Use Formo to fan out apple section; repeat with remaining apple sections. Place 1 fanned apple half on outer edge of the tart dough, pointing inward (do this by hand or using a Locomotor spell); repeat with 7 more apple halves. Separate remaining apple slices. Starting where the apple halves touch and working your way in, layer apples to create a tight rose pattern. Fill in any gaps with remaining apple.
4. Sprinkle with sugar and then dot with remaining butter. Bake until golden brown using Heating Charm, moving wand slowly over entire surface of pie to cook evenly. This process should take about 15 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, heat apricot jam in a small saucepan using Heating Charm until warmed and loose; pour through a fine strainer into a small bowl and set aside. Transfer tart to a wire rack; using a pastry brush, brush top of tart with jam. Use Frigidus to cool; serve with whipped cream.

Noelle's new potion was working great. The only problem was... she was always hungry. Heading from Charms, her stomach had given her a growl, and Noelle knew it was time for some food.
And thank Merlin for Professor Marchand.
Sniffing her way into the room, Noelle grabbed a butterbeer first and then took a peek at the recipe book. She wasn't the best at baking, but Olly was teaching her a lot. Their specialty was cookies.
Was there something in here that Noelle could make that she would be actually successful at making? Her stomach urged her to try. The Pears Belle Hellen seemed like the way to go. It didn't look too complicated.
Heading to the back, Noelle pulled the things out that she needed. Now, to get started.

Charms classes were always strange. Somehow they managed to be a mix of interesting (although that probably came from her own interest in the subject) and sometimes almost boring. At least she had finally made up her mind. Maybe skipping the next class wouldn't be that harmful, at all. That wasn't for now, however, because now she was hungry and Professor Marchand kindly provided food riiiight outside his classroom.
French cuisine Heaven.
Apparently, she wasn't the only one. "Did the class make you hungry too, Christmas?" The sixth year asked Noelle the second she entered the bistro and saw the Gryffindor Prefect in there. Looking at the recipe book, was it? Maybe she wasn't hungry, then, and just wanted to bake. The Slytherin dropped her bag on one of the tables and quickly moved to get a plate and proceed to fill it up. Macarons, eclairs, madeleines. All that good stuff that would make her have to run again that day. Still, it would be totally worth it. "How was the rest of the summer, then?" She set the plate down on the table nearest to her and got some hot cocoa. She sat down and finally really looked at Noelle. "And what are you doing, anyway?"

Okay. So Noelle looked through her ingredients one more time to make sure she had everything that she needed. She wasn't a baker and probably should have just grabbed and ate, but... she was feeling a little ... creative.
SPOILER!!: Ingredients
2 cinnamon sticks
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 ½ cups water, divided
4 firm Bosc pears, peeled, cored and with stem intact
8 small scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Medium bowl
Medium saucepan
Whisk
Knife
Slotted spoon
Yep. All set. First things first, she needed to combine the cinnamon sticks, sugar, and half a cup of water in a medium saucepan. What even was a medium sauce pan? She pulled one of the pans out and added those ingredients in it before grabbing her wand and using the Locomotor spell to stir the concoction. Some noises alerted Noelle that someone was here. Looking up from her project, she grinned when she saw Daisy. "Hey!" She said brightly as she cast a heating charm on the pan to heat up the recipe.
Summer. "It was... okay. How was yours?" Noelle asked giving it a chance to heat up, she looked at her friend. "Im trying out this recipe. Im starving. But... I wanted to try my hand at making something rather than just grabbing and going." She was feeling creative. "Its called... Pears Belle Helene. Sounds interesting anyways. And pears are somewhat healthy right?" She asked with a tiny grin. This recipe may have had pears in it, but it wasn't healthy.
"How are you?" Noelle asked Daisy as she turned around to stir in 2 cups of the water, according to the recipe.
Tinka and her whisk appeared with a rather loud CRACK that reverberated across the bistro. It was her goal to clean the area until she noticed the room was not alone.
From ear to ear, she smiled. Sweetly and almost shyly, Tinka wiggled her fingers at the studentsies at the same time she waved her whisk at them. The whisk wanted to say hello, too. Tinka made sure it had manners!
"Miss Noelle Summers can't be too hungry if Miss Noelle Summers wants baking first!!!"
Baking took FOREVER.
So, ever the helpful elf, Tinka snapped her fingers, ingredients flying over the place, maybe spilling over the studentsies. They came together rather quickly and in Tinka's opinion, BEAUTIFULLY. Strawberry shortcakes and almond cookies and peach cobbler and even ICE CREAM.
"Eat! eat! eat!" Tinka said, smiling, and already beginning to clean up.

To keep herself from rolling her eyes at yet another time her perfect, hilarious nickname for Noelle had been ignored, Daisy kicked off her uniform shoes and placed her feet on the chair in front of her as her eyes followed the Gryffindor girl. Daisy didn't bake but she had seen enough people baking to realise that that was what the Gryffindor girl was doing. She looked down at her own overfilled plate and did a double take.
There was plenty of food around, why was she doing that? Whatever.
She waved her hand dismissively, eyes still focused on the Gryffindor even as her hand reached for one of the eclairs on her plate. "Oh, summer was good. Learned a lot of things." Summer had been brilliant; possibly the best one she had ever had except for that one Maddox had turned Dad's hair pink by accident. But she didn't feel like elaborating -- on her summer, or Dad's hair -- so she bit into the eclair, accidentally dropping some custard on her shirt. Oh well.
Noelle's words made absolutely zero sense. She was starving and yet she was baking something instead of getting something that was already done? Daisy had sort of baked recently and she was perfectly aware that baking took a looooong time. Which was fine if you weren't starving and had some good company to keep your entertained but it really seemed like an unnecessary effort.
"Christmas, look. Why are you baking if--" There was no need to finish that question apparently, because a loud CRACK was heard and suddenly Tinka was here! And her whisk, of course. The sixth year waved at the house elf and her whisk and nodded in agreement to the house elf's words. "I agree, Tinka. I think Noelle is not that hungry." But she was and Tinka was a gift.
Look at those magical skills! This was the kind of magic that mattered and, sitting back into her chair and finishing her eclair, Daisy watched the ingredients fly up into the air. Some milk and flour fell down on her hair but she didn't notice -- not that she would've cared, it wasn't the first time that had happened -- too busy watching how the ingredients turned into food. Actual, proper food. "Ooooh, strawberry shortcakes!! Thank you, Tinka!" Quickly, she reached forwards and picked one of the cakes and eagerly dug in. Definitely not healthy though, sorry Noelle.
Did Tinka need help cleaning? Eh, she had a cake testing session to begin.
Let your light shine || Be the sun || You're important. Always.
What was that next step?
Noelle looked at the mess that was in front of her. Obviously baking was not her forte. But she was having a creative moment, the potion she'd been taken obviously was running the show right now. Uncharacteristically baking yet starving. Noelle needed to look into that.
Dusting off her hands, she went to start another step before looking back at Daisy. Merlin... she was eating and it looked good. ....... Noelle glanced down at her mess... she was already regretting this.
And thank Merlin for Tinka.
Noelle breathed a sigh of relief, despite her creative bubble being busted. Bits of ingredients flaked on her as Tinka used her magical skills to make more food. Screw this Pears Helle whatever. Youre hell to make. Noelle grinned at Tinka. "Okay okaaaay. Im eating!" She said with a grin as she grabbed a strawberry shortcake and went to sit by Daisy. "Thanks Tinka. These look great." Noelle said before taking a large bite of the shortcake, jelly rolling off and dropping onto the table beside her.
Mm... this was probably way better than anything she ever attempt to make. Creative bubble, you have been busted.
"Okay. Christmas, is that a new nickname? And what does it mean?" Yes, Carden, Noelle had noticed. Noelle would clean up in a moment. She mentioned that out loud as well. But first, hunger had finally struck.

Camilla was definitely not the best cook out there but the women did enjoy baking from time to time. Usually when she had a lot on her mind and needed something else to occupy her thoughts and keep her busy. Baking did that AND there was always the added plus of getting to eat the yummy treat after it was finished. Right now at this very moment this was the case, there was a lot on her mind and a distraction was in order.
Which was how she ended up here in The Bistro. Many times had Cami been in here to grab herself something to snack upon but never had she managed to find the time to bake. Today she was making time just for that. What was she going to make....
What to make....
Making her way to the small kitchenette in the back of the room she spotted the recipe cards. Taking a quick look through them she pulled out the one that caught her attention. Orangettes. Yum.
Setting the card down on the counter Camilla went about gathering up all the needed ingredients to make this dessert. Should anyone come into the room they were always welcome to help her make it and than enjoy tasting it afterwards.
