| | Study Tables Near the back of the Library sit the study tables, these tables are well lit by magical orbs floating overhead. The chairs are comfy and the area around the tables are enchanted to keep one calm and focused. No nervous breakdowns please! The Healers wing is a floor down in case anyone feels the need to pass out or break into hives due to stress.
There are a few special tables in the back set aside especially for OWL and NEWT studies. All of the material you might need to study will be near these tables, and the two tables have signs on them that specifically say they are for 5th and 7th years only!
Kalen will come by every so often in case one needs help studying or finding a certain book. Please keep the noise here down to a minimum, this is a very important part of the Library. |

Slade Erikson Mysteries | Slytherin by heart Kyle made his way to a table and set the books down he had gotten from the Librarian. He hadn't gotten the man's name, and shrugged. He could always ask him what it was next time, when he brought the books back. He opened the first one and started reading.
After about half an hour of reading he began to grow sleepy. He shook it off and tried to continue reading, even as the words started to mash together before his eyes. Before he knew it, he was asleep on the book.

Before he knew it, he was asleep on the book. Kalen was walking through the Library with three stacks of books floating behind him, he had many books to return to their proper spot, not to mention a few to put by the study tables. Mainly copies of text books, but a few study guides were in the mix as well..
Kalen had just reached the study tables when he noticed a sleeping student snoozing on a book!
Kalen first checked for drool, and seeing that there was none, silently impervious'd the page, so in case the kid did decide he wanted to drool, he wouldn't ruin the book.
And then.. since the kid was napping...
Kalen tapped his wand against his chin for a moment before waving it and several bright magenta freckles scattered across the boys nose.. Mmm.. yes, yes he was happy with that..
A smile moved over his face as he moved away to put away his books, pleased with himself... |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kyle Baker Fifth Year | open post
The point of the Ilvermorny trip to Hogwarts had, as far as Kyle understood, been a bid to strengthen ties between the two establishments, supposedly through the IMPS competition. That was all very well and good, but in all the time that they had been here in England, Kyle had mostly continued on as he had back on his home turf; keeping to himself, focusing largely on his school work, and appearing sullen and sulky while doing it. He had sort of totally missed the point of what they were supposed to be doing, but, in his own defence, it was very difficult for him to forge personal ties with anyone, be they from Hogwarts or Ilvermorny.
Kyle had, at least, partly fulfilled his personal goal to be a little less predictable, given that he had - completely out of nowhere, if some of the conversations he had eavesdropped on were anything to go by - not only been picked as an Ilvermorny IMPS competitor, but taken the lead in the very same competition. Not too shabby.
Perhaps he would try and make a Hogwarts friend soon, but for the moment, he had more pressing matters to attend to. In preparation for the third (and hopefully fourth) challenge, not to mention his school studies, Kyle had taken to studying even more intensively than he had before his fifth year. So far, almost every component of the IMPS challenges had played to Kyle's strengths, and sooner or later he was bound to come up against something that found gaps in his knowledge and ability. In recent weeks, Kyle was never seen without his head in a book, ignoring everything around him in favour of absorbing as much information as possible. He wanted - needed? - that scholarship, and was absolutely pulling out all of the stops.
The Hogwarts library had become something of a second home for Kyle; he spent most of his free time perusing the books he found there, and today was no exception. Claiming one of the study tables for himself, Kyle had set stacks of books up around him. Ancient Runes, for one, was getting a little extra attention. Though Kyle took the subject at school, it was more for the grade than out of any real interest, despite the fact that he knew runic magic had some real benefits. However, Brent's use of runes in the challenges so far had prompted the realisation that a little extra knowledge of runes could be of benefit, especially if a challenge specifically required their use.
Also around him, and taking up most of the space, were books on other subjects; Divination and Astronomy, mostly, as they were two of Kyle's weakest subjects, due to his complete lack of interest in either of them. If something was to trip him up, it would be one of those, and Kyle, quite simply, was not ready for that to happen, not after things had started off so well. Sequestered away in his corner of the study area, he leaned low over the Divination textbook, working on memorising as many methods of divining as he could, and noting things down down every time he thought one might be likely to appear in a challenge. He had worried that the IMPS would take away valuable time Kyle liked to devote to his studies, but now it was turning out that he was studying things he never planned to.
Still, he maintained that he didn't find those particular subjects interesting in the slightest.
It might have seemed as though he was oblivious to the rest of the world, given that he worked so diligently, but Kyle's occasional glances towards the entrance of the study area said otherwise. Was he waiting for someone? Hoping to see a particular face? Anticipating his next break? It was impossible to tell.
