Melbourne hadn’t dueled in what seemed like ages. Sure, she had wanted to but something about the way she always seemed so competitive during them had made her simply sit back and watch duels for the previous two terms…that, and maybe she had been a little preoccupied with the emotions of being adopted by Dustin and Thunder? Glancing at the crowd of spectators in the dueling club she simply gave them a small nod before turning her attention to her fellow competitor.

Today, in this room she was viewing him as her competition. He wasn’t the boy she grew up next to, he was the person she had to defeat in order to prove herself as a Dueler. She wanted this, really wanted this. Bouncing on the balls of her feet she tried not to expend too much energy before the duel had even begun.

She was ready to fight.

Swiftly she put her wand in front of her face and bowed her eyes never closing and never leaving Tenacius’ long and almost wirey frame…seriously was he part beanpole? And how was everyone this much taller than her? She thought for a moment before using the skills she had practiced over the past few terms in order to cast a feather light charm on herself. She wanted this, wanted to glide over the dueling platform, her little stage, like a leaf on the wind.

With the added lightness of the featherlight charm Melbourne almost seemed to dance around the platform...or was she trying not to fall? It was often hard to tell, still with a flick of her wand and the quietest murder of sound she cast a second spell toward her friend this one intending on making his hair change into antlers. "Anteoculatia" the word was but a whisper, but still, she wanted it to work and with a final flourish this time with a more zestful spell calling from her lips. "cantis" ah, maybe people wanted to hear the curly haired lion sing?
