Welcome to your first duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Hex Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 15th of June by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

So, dueling begins!
Etta entered the dueling arena, not feeling that nervous.. surprisingly. After facing AND surviving a dementor with a spell she hadn't even been that confident about, she was pretty sure she could survive a duel with a classmate. She looked quite confident as she pulled out her wand, taking a few deep calming breaths. Not that she wasn't taking this seriously, of course. She was determined to be much better at dueling this term. Her reflexes needed to improve, especially.
After a few moments, she was ready. She decided to cast a feather-light charm on herself first. Made sense, yeah? But then.. what spell did she want to go with first? Nothing too intense, though. That would be a waste of energy.. she'd save that for the end but for now.. umm.. oh, yes! "Good luck, Cassandra!" She said with a grin before deciding to cast a leg-locker curse. Simple but effective as well. This should be a good start to an interesting duel. Now, she needed to see what her opponent was going to come up with.

Perhaps it was a good thing that Cassie dueling spells in the list of things she had prepared herself with for the competition. Since in the hullabaloo, the dueling club had seemed to fall by the wayside. For the first half of the term at least. And now was the beginning and the Ravenclaw found herself against a fellow fifth year and a former competitor of hers. Not that she was letting the fact that the Hufflepuff had scored higher and moved on to the next round matter in the way she felt about what they were about to do. She would just give it all she got and that was that.
She just hoped that had a better chance of being enough this time around.
When it was time, Cass entered the dueling arena with Henrietta, properly geared up as was required. She moved to her starting point and bowed, her wand removed from its sheath and at the ready. “And you as well, Henrietta,” she returned out of politeness and truth. The Ravenclaw did wish her luck, but now was not the time to dwell for the first spell was cast in her direction. A spell which Cassie moved to dodge while already acting on her counter. “Fulgari!” she cast, the strands quickly making their way towards their target.

Fulgari? Nice. Etta had been prepared. Her opponent was obviously going to retaliate and she'd been ready to throw up a shield the second she did. She quickly cast a silver shield spell instead of a protego.. just as the flying cords hit the shield. Phew, that was close. She bit her lip in thought, still standing in a ready position, wondering what spell she could use next. Nothing too simple, of course.
.. but she didn't waste a lot of time like she did in her earlier duels. She had learnt to be completely ready every second. After waiting for a few seconds at the most, she cast a spell straight at Cassandra. "Incarcerous." That should work, hopefully. She watched with anticipation as the ropes soared through the air.

Shielding was predicable…a physical silver shield instead wasn’t that all that much. But either way it meant her spell had no effect on the other girl which was a disappointment. AND still had a shield and added weapon which could prove a challenge. For later, given the first action Cassie had to do was handling the next spell sent her way. “Protego!” she cast first, to deflect the incarceration spell away from her safely. This was almost immediately followed by “Expelliarmus!” aiming at the Hufflepuff in hopes of causing the loss of either wand or shield.
Or if she was lucky…both.
To add to it, Cass cast a quiet but focused stinging hex in her opponent’s direction shortly after, figuring to cover her tracks should the other spell manage to be completely evaded. Better to have a back-up then simply have all your eggs in one basket.

Etta side-stepped the first couple of spells that came flying her way since it was too late to throw up a shield. Thank goodness for the feather-light charm that helped her with quick reflexes. The one thing that she had learnt from her first IMPS challenge was that she had to think fast and move faster. She casted a Salvio Hexia.. and soon enough, another spell came flying her away. Wow, that was really close.
Concentrating hard, she casted a non-verbal Confundus charm, hoping it would take Cassandra by surprise. She probably wouldn't be expecting that at all. Casting non-verbal spells was more difficult than she had ever imagined but she'd been practicing a lot lately and all that practice had been worth the effort. Etta watched the spell soar towards her opponent, while she was already standing in a ready position to defend any spell that came her way but.. she hoped that wouldn't happen. This was already turning out to be a very fun and interesting duel.

All Cassie could do as her opponent moved aside was watch as her disarming spell was missed by the Hufflepuff so she kept her wand and defense. That and try and prepare herself for what was bound to be coming her way from the other girl in return. She gripped her hand tighter around her wand, part in frustration as another shield went up to block the hex. And part in anticipation seeing as it didn’t appear as if this duel was going well. For her at least. Henrietta was just too quick with the effect of the feather-light charm.
She didn’t hear anything from the other girl, but the light from the Hufflepuff’s wand was there and Cass was quick to bring her shield up once more. But it apparently wasn’t quick enough for the next thing the Ravenclaw knew was her mind was fuzzy. Her non-wand hand raising to her forehead as she tried to make sense of things.

Hirsch had to admit: he was very impressed with the level of spellwork being displayed here. Not only were they using spells a little beyond their years, but there was also a level of non-verbalness going on here that he found to be very impressive. It was clear, with all the shield charms going up, that both girls were good at defending themselves. Good. He really couldn't ask for anything else.
Though, he should've expected it from two IMPS competitors, shouldn't he?
He wasn't too worried when Cassandra got hit by a spell but it was the moment that she started touching her forehead that his worry grew. A shield was struck up between the two of them and he hurried forwards and towards his Ravenclaw. "Are you okay, Cassandra?" Was she able to carry on?
......... Or not.
A small glance at his watch told him that time wasn't going to let her, even if she did want to carry on. "I think we can stop there." Taking out his wand, he gave it a small flick, taking away the effects of any spells that might be lingering around, including the non-verbal one that Miss Kramer had cast. "How does that feel?" Smile.
"I think it's safe to say that, Miss Kramer, you've taken the lead in this duel. Congratulations! And well done on putting up a great effort, Miss McNally."
