| | |  About the Competition - READ FIRST
The International Magical Pupil Standoff (IMPS) is an inter-school competition that came into being the summer before the 2092-2093 term began. Designed by a team of staff members from both Hogwarts and Ilvermorny Schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the purpose of the competition is to strengthen the relationship between the sister schools and showcase the knowledge and aptitude of their most competent students. Because of the dangerous nature of the competition, it was decided that students 15 and older would have the chance of being selected to compete.
Prior to the competitor selection, the names of every student eligible to compete was magically imbedded in the Book of Merlin. Eight students from each school, two from each House, were then selected by the book. Considering the fact that to this day it has many secrets, the exact methods of the selection process remains a bit of a mystery; however, it is believed that the book is able to sense the extent of one's determination, capabilities, and aspirations. The book selected 16 students that it believed had hidden talents to be revealed and/or something to prove either to themselves or others.
Over the course of the school year, four challenges will be observed and put the competitors' knowledge and skill set to the test. After each challenge, four students will be eliminated until there are four students remaining for the final challenge of the competition. Only one student will be declared the victor of IMPS, winning for their school a one-of-a-kind plague and for themselves a full-ride scholarship to a university of their choice.
Selected students will be partaking in the challenges in their designated areas in an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, those not competing will be able to watch all the action and support their favourite competitor at a stadium that was built on the school grounds.

OOC Guidelines
The following are a set of guidelines that need to be followed while challenges are in progress:
COMPETITORS
- You may post only in the thread created for you. Here your character will progress through the challenge.
- You may not role-play for The Narrator. While your characters have their own freewill IC and you have creative liberties OOC, please allow the account to guide you as the challenge progresses.
- You may not view or read the viewing area or other competitor threads (this also includes doing so with your regular SS account if you are playing as a competitor from Ilvermorny) or ask about the other competitors' progress on or off SS. You may only view your own thread, which should be your primary focus while a challenge is running. Looking in or asking for details about what is going on will result in disqualification from the competition.
NON-COMPETITORS
- You may only post in the IMPS Viewing Area. Here your character can view what the competitors are doing by means of a giant screen, enjoy an array of delicious foods and drinks provided from the concession areas, and socialize with fellow non-competitors.
- You may view and read the competitors' threads. This will come in handy for making your own posts in the viewing area thread, but please refrain from discussing details (the progression of other competitors, hints at what the member should have their character expect to be thrown at them, etc.) with those who are competing in the challenge on or off SS while it is in progress.
Elimination Process
- Members of the Hogwarts RPG staff will be scoring the competitors OOC based on the aspects of the challenge that are completed in addition to substantial role-playing. A total of 25 points can be earned per challenge (up to 21 points for detailed character reaction/actions and completion of the challenge and up to 4 additional points for effort and creativity throughout the challenge). These points will be tallied up to help the staff determine which of the competitors should be eliminated.
- At the end of each challenge IC, the Hogwarts headmistress, Ilvermorny headmistress, Hogwarts Board of Governors president, and Ilvermorny Board of Education president will judge the performance of each competitor (this is for general IC knowledge and does not mean that the judging process will actually be played out). The four lowest scoring competitors will be eliminated from IMPS; those who are not eliminated will continue competing in the next challenge.
- The outcome of each challenge will be reflected in this thread OOC and also be announced IC by the hosting headmistress.
