| | |  The Great Lake
 The Great Lake, also known as the Black Lake, is a large body of water located to the south of the castle. It is about half a mile in diameter and the Hogwarts plumbing network drains into it. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows, with even Moaning Myrtle occasionally taking a swim. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. While busy with his kin, it is not uncommon to spot him or possibly receive a helping hand should you slip in after enough callings.
Boats and life vests mainly reserved for the First year's entrance and Graduate's departure still sit by the dock. With Sir McLeod's permission you'll be permitted to use them for a lovely afternoon of sailing. There are also several trees by edge of the lake. A Beech tree in particular with a hollow hole inside is filled with books that have been left there over time. If you take one, be sure to replace one in exchange to keep the system alive.

There were no such things as monsters. Dinosaurs maybe but monster surely not.

Dalton scowled down at the kid, before pulling out his wand and casting a hot air charm to dry the water that was now dripping from his face and soaking through his shirt. Who did he think he was, really? Half tempted to kick the kid fully into the water, the seventh year refrained and took a massive deep breath. "You do know there's a massive Squid that lives in there and likes to drag annoying students to it's depths, don't you?"

What had started out as a nice, slow -- I mean really slow, -- walk around the lake, had quickly turned into a game of find that turtle. One minute, both were right in front of him, Moss was munching on some grass, and Greta was taking up the lead, and momentarily distracted by a twig snapping under his foot, Noah had glanced away.
Next thing he knew, Greta was still taking her sweet stroll toward some wild flowers, and Moss was missing. "Bloody hell, Greta.. where'd he go?" the Fifth year muttered and bent, scooping up the female turtle before she could disappear too.

With an amused expression, Noelle quietly walked/limped over to Noah. " Loose something?" Or rather... someones?

Noah was quick to rise to his full height after pocketing Greta, but didn't dare take a step as grey eyes scanned the surrounding grass. Moss couldn't have gone that far, he wasn't exactly fast, was he? No, but Greta was, and he was grateful she had enough sense not to lose herself.
He could hear the amusement in her voice, before he saw it on her face with a glance over his shoulder and a half turn of his body. "Nah, Moss an I are playin hide and seek, s'all." He answered, rather dryly for it being a joke. "..What happened to you?"

Noah's dryness caught Noelle off guard. She wasn't used to that being directed at her.... or really it directed at anyone, truth be told. The corners of her mouth pulled down in a slight frown before she tried brushing it off, so that she could lock it away until later.
Noelle hadn't forgotten that Noah wanted to give her space after she told him about her parents. Noelle had even sent a howler to her parents because she'd been so angry at them... for not telling... for ruining things. She was expecting one back.
"Oh right. Want me to help you find him?" She asked since they both caught them in Hawaii, two years before. Blink, blink What happened to her? Noelle reached up to fix her clothes and mess with her hair. She had been up and down the stairs so she figured that's what he was talking about. She didn't have a mirror so she wasn't sure how she looked. "Just running up and down the stairs, taking students places." She said softly, her eyes looking to the grass to find that hard shelled turtle.

"Come here, old man." Ten feet away from Hads, Asher, stiffly, cocked his head toward her and then with an equal stiffness made his way slowly to her side. Poor guy. Hadley knew he was only going to be getting older, and his health would only get worse...she just hadn't expected him to decline so quickly over the past term.
At this rate, he might not survive the summer, and that was something Hadley wasn't ready for at all.
She stroked his head while her other hand toyed with the potion vial in her pocket. One of the saved vials of her Aging potion. The one that de-aged her permanently 2nd year until Professor Newton reversed it. "What do you think?" She asked him. Asher tilted into her scratches happily. "Two drops should do it? Yeah, two drops. Open wide."
With perfect timing, Asher choose that moment to yawn, widely and Hadley seized her chance. One drop of her de-aging potion, and a second. Asher made a face of disgust as Hadley replaced the eyedropper into the vial, sealing it.
By the time she looked back at Asher, the transformation was complete. He was two years younger at least, back to the prime of his life. Asher looked around momentarily confused, and leapt into Hadley's lap, and nuzzled her leg. "You and me, we're going to be together for a long time." She returned the vial to her pocket and pulled out a baggie of raw meat, feeding him as she returned to studying up on animagus training.
Honestly, she should be studying for exams, but animagus stuff was more important.

Honestly, by this point she was just glad to have survived to her thirteenth birthday. With all of the horrors of the portal and the creature that came from it there had been times when she wasn't even sure if she was going to live. She had spent many nights during the scariest times crying. Despite everything that had happened Isa was alive, and she was thankful for that.
As Isa walked by the lake as she loved to do, she thought about how much she appreciated being alive. Life was good. It wasn't always easy and sometimes it was sad or scary, but she would never give it up. There was so much out there in the world to discover. She was so fortunate to have this life with a good family and friends and opportunities for a bright future.
Ah, here was her friend and big sister Haddie! Isa beamed as she waved to Hads. "Hads!" Isa ran over to Hads and wrapped her arms around her in a warm blanket of a hug. Did Hads know? Did she? Did she? Did she know that Isa was thirteen now?

How did it feel to be a teenager? There hadn't really been any moment of 'wow, everything feels so different now.' That wasn't how life worked. Things didn't change overnight. Isa was still getting used to the idea of being a teenager. "I don't really know yet. Change takes time. It's weird. Kind of scary. Everything is changing. I'm changing." There were a lot of weird things happening in life like scary monsters, you know, just the usual sort of Hogwarts weirdness. She also had her own physical changes happening like boobs and emotional changes. It was these things that made her especially miss mum and Penny and feel the lack of adult females that she knew at Hogwarts. It was good to have Hads. Change, of course, was not something that happened in one day, but was something that gradually happened over time. She might not notice the little things every day, but one day she would be able to look at where she was and where she had started and see the difference. With good fortune she would survive Hogwarts and make it to a point in life where she could look back at her Hogwarts days. These days you just never knew if you were going to make it out of Hogwarts alive or if you were going to be a snack for some strange creature.

Hads smirked, with a small, short laugh. She pulled out another bit of meat for Asher and reached for her camera. "Smile birthday girl." The camera clicked. She took a few more pictures, both of Isa and of Asher.
"When I turned thirteen," Hads said as she returned the camera to her bag. "I felt instantly different, like I had just stepped into a new world. Or maybe like I'd finally stepped into the world for the first time." She shrugged and fed Asher the last bit of meat from the baggie. Then she laughed. "Your sister had to come down and tell me to be quiet. I woke up super early, realized it was my birthday, and announced it the whole dorm before bouncing my way down to the common room. Here." Hadley took the necklace back, unclasped it, and helped put it around Isa's neck. "There. You only turn a teenager once, kid. Live it up."
