Claiming a good seat at the table was a high priority as Abey was being sorted and there was no way in the wizarding world that Junia Botros would miss it because of some taller, big-headed Slytherin in her way. It's why she'd elbowed her way through the crowd and made it to the hall in record time. It's also why she managed to grab a perfect spot, one that allowed her to check out the newest staff members with a curious gaze. The headmistress was pretty, she'd decided. She'd have to introduce herself sometime. Getting in good with the headmistress could only be a good thing.

Glancing over at the Gryffindor table briefly, the thirteen year old wondered if any of her people had filtered in yet. Astrea and Adra and Sam, too. Hers. Even if Adra didn't seem to want her right now. She was hoping that was a temporary thing. It was, wasn't it?

...Hm.

She had done her job on the train and watched over the little ankle biters. She even helped McLeod herd them onto the boats a bit before she headed to a carriage and headed to the castle. The seventeen year old looked around as she made her way into the big room. She'd have to go see Lily and Tim later. For now she'd be at her table watching the sorting hat and greeting the new Slytherin's in.

This badge job was exhausting!


Her eyes looked around. Smiling and giving a wave to the third year already sitting. "Hello, did you have a good train ride?" Natalia kept her eyes on the girl as she found her own seat. Plenty of room for people to join. She wondered when Jacobi and Cal would come around. Plus Kelly of course would be sitting near her.

Though anyone that sat down next to her would be good.

Soooo a fourth year this year huh? Interesting. Only one more year until it was time for NEWTS and OWLS. Yay. Haha. So Jonas found a seat and sat down. He started to gather things to put on his plate. A couple chicken legs and mashed potatoes.

Y'know a really disconcerting thing? Other than the fact that everyone was just the slightest bit bigger than two months ago and they'd all slid a bit further up the food chain and there was a great big bunch of babies getting sorted (including one Chloe Kettleburn, Katy's very own cousin)? A DIFFERENT disconcerting thing?

That big shiny badge there on Nat's robes. Why the HECK would she do something so stupid? "Natalia! MISS NAT! How could you???!"

After watching the little first years or what Colt would prefer them as, little munchkins or brats. Some of them could be brats and be so naive. He wondered if he was ever that naive? Nah he couldn't be. His father wouldn't let him. He kept him well informed. He knew he needed to help McLeod because he was a chill guy. He was the chillest head of house he ever encountered. He had to help them get into the boats and he saw some of them almost fall out of the boats and he couldn't help but laugh. After the windy weather on the lake, he took a carriage back and finally made it the feast. Thank merlin. He was starving.

He opened the doors and saw the great hall was not too full yet. He could finally relax after dealing with the ankle biters. He walked down and saw his fellow slytherin or head girl. He nodded towards her and said, "Sup Natalie?" He thought to call her Nat but he figured now wasn't the time. She seemed exhausted and he was too. He wondered if Juliette made it to the feast yet. He kept an eye out for his girlfriend.

He also saw his other fellow Slytherins and he nodded towards them. Good thing they didn't come to him for questions just yet. He needed five minutes to recover.

Waiting for the speech, and the food, plus jetlag wasn't a good combination. Hads nearly passed out at the table, and she was determined to wait until it was actually time for bed before she passed out, to try and reset her clock on UK time. And that was precisely why the newly short haired, blonde, tan Californian was up wandering the Hall. She was less likely to pass out if she was walking around. It was still possible, but less likely.

Hadley made her way past the snake table. It was weird. She kept glancing at all the Slytherin faces and expecting to see her name twin. How was Hady liking University?

Oh, hey, there was Colt! Hads gave the Slytherin a quick wave as she passed by him. Wait...A few steps past Colt Hadley stopped. Something was off. Taking a few steps backwards, Hads re-examined the 7th year. And then she spotted it, eyes wide in surprise. Hadley plopped down next to him. "Head Boy? They made you Head Boy?" She raised an eyebrow at Colt, skeptically. There was equal chance Colt had just found the badge resting next to the real Head Boy and took it.

There was a chance Hadley might do that one day to a Head Girl, too, so there was no judgement there.

Not many others had been sorted into Slytherin yet- well, not surprising, given Sinead was pretty early in the whole sorting. The few first-years who had joined the green-bedecked tables before her, though, were slotted in between others from older years, making it impossible for her to sit next to them. With a distinct feeling of being conspicuous, Sinead slipped onto the end of a row of students, running an assessing glance over the array of food and plates laid out before her. Everything was so much as she had expected it to be, and yet somehow so different- she wasn't quite sure what to think, just soaking in all the experiences. Looking around at her housemates, she was pleased with her sorting, if nothing else- were those two sitting a little further down the table Head Boy and Head Girl? She hadn't even known they could both be from the same house- but there they were, and she was a part of their house as well. Maybe she could be a prefect or even Head Girl one day. As long as she didn't get loads of boring jobs to do with it.

Only a little self- conscious to be sitting on her own, more fascinated to be in Hogwarts at last, Sinead tucked her hair behind her ears and settled down to watching the goings-on in the hall, content to wait until some other first-years joined the Slytherin table, or even one of the older transfers or some other student- talking to anyone new would be amazing, when she knew so few other witches and wizards.

As she watched the rest coming in she smiled when she saw Jonas. She had told him she'd be his summer pen pal type person and she had kept that promise. Even sent him an album she got from the music shop she had worked at. "Hi Jonas, did you have a good summer?" She hoped it was and not just his letters she received saying he did.

"What I do?" She glanced around when she heard a voice saying how could you? She thought back on the train and now here and couldn't for the life of her think what Katy was going on about. Then she realized and laughed. "Crazy, right?" Laughing she motioned for her to sit. "Don't worry I'm not going to go all goodie crazy, okay?"


...and hearing the next person Katy might get to see how not goodie she was going to get.

Her jaw tightened, it did. Her eyes narrowed at Colt. Seriously, they were in the same year. They knew each other. Maybe they didn't run with the same group of people, but he had to have said her name before. She was in a band that played at this school. PLUS she corrected someone on the train. "Dude unless you want to be the second badged boy in two terms to get pumpkin juice on your head you better remember my name is Natalia not Natalie."

Seeing a new person join the table she gave the girl a smile. This was her job now, right. Though thinking about the things she could have her do crept into her mind. Maybe she could find a good little Slytherin that could do her dirty work this term for her. Gryffindor tower was pretty far from the dungeons and if she needed potions from Tim or wanted to get Vince or Lily something but felt like just staying in bed she could need a first year.

"Welcome to Slytherin. I hope you are excited for the term. I'm Natalia, head girl." She had to admit she did like saying that... Head Girl, had a great ring to it didn't it.

The train ride had seemed all too short, even if Elle had managed to connect with several people on the way to school. Some of which she’d already known, others were new acquaintances she had yet to fully decide as to their status with her. Either way, she’d made her way into the Great Hall with a relatively positive outlook, if she’d been a bit late due to her hedgehog not wanting to be left behind. Nobody had seemed to notice if the blonde had walked in slightly behind the others, nor the little head peeking out of her robe pocket. The Sorting appeared to still be going on, so she knew she wasn’t too late.

Nor was she too late to miss other things, glancing over as she had taken a seat near Nat at nearly the same moment the brunette Head Girl had chosen to threaten someone. Oh, she thought, turning her gaze to verify who had been threatened. Somehow she wasn’t too surprised, even if she’d only ever really had an awkward conversation with Colt. No matter, really. She hadn’t seen any pumpkin juice actually thrown, so things were okay.

She’d given the others around them a smile too. No need to be rude. Especially when there was at least one first year nearby.

SLYTHERIN!

Brent was new here, but he'd been around long enough to ask questions and know exactly what being a Slytherin meant. This was going to be a really awesome house to be in! He just knew it! Kane hadn't ended up in the same house, but that was probably for the best. They hadn't even been in the same house at Ilvermorny anyway.

Besides all of that, he heard that BOTH Head students were from Slytherin house, which had to mean awesome things. Approaching the house table, he set his eyes on a few students sitting in one particular area (everyone who's posted so far lol). "Hey! What's up?" he asked, taking a seat on the bench. Duuude. He was starving! "I'm Brent Westwood."

Even though she liked hanging out with Hattie and her badger friends, it felt only right to Skylar to sit at her own house table for the actual feast part. Not to mention confusing for new students having a single green robed student in a sea of yellow.

Plopping down next to her dorm mate, Sky beamed at Junia. "Have a nice summer??" She asked knowing they'd probably have a more indepth catch-up later that evening.

And there was Nat and Colt. Even thought Sky didn't know them terribly well, she did feel a swell of house pride knowing her house got BOTH head students this term! "Hey Nat! Colt!" She smiled at the two. "Congrats!"

And there was Katy too. She got a smile and wave too. Always good to see familiar faces. Like Elle, whom she vaguely recognized, got a wave too.

And new faces were present as well (Sinead and Jonas), to which Skylar waved at as well. "Hi there! Welcome! I'm Skylar!"

And another new face except not really because she'd met him on the train. Apparently Brent had been sorted in Slytherin, which truth be told from her five minute chat with him, wasn't all too surprising. "And we meet again. Welcome to slytherin!" See. She could be non-sarcastic.... sometimes

Yes, he could tell this was going to be great year for Slytherins. Two head prefects at the same table? What could possibly go wrong? He wondered he could get away with more stuff. Right? Enough with all the introductions, where were the grand feast everyone kept talking about in the train. Growling stomach meant grumpy James. Come on ....speeecch already.

Jonas looked over and saw Natalia. Oh! Hey!
"Hey!" he smiled at her. Finally a familiar face. "My summer was good. I love the album you sent," He said and smiled.

Slate took his seat at the table he was directed to. He looked up and down the table. All seemed fairly normal. These uniforms were interesting, but he could deal with that.

He tentatively gave his fork a poke.

Okay. Good. Just a fork. He was nervous after that hat incident. Shudder.

He relaxed and had a more proper look. There seemed to be snake insignia. Hopefully nobody around here had a snake phobia. That would be awkward. He couldn't help but wonder what the snake meant. Maybe there was a "house" pet? No, that didn't make sense. The other table had a lion. They wouldn't give someone a lion and someone else a snake. That was not the way to treat children.

He then scanned the head table. He assumed those were the teachers. Interesting. There seemed to be a few.

Which... made sense when he thought about it. He did have to buy a lot of books, which meant a lot of classes, which meant a lot of teachers.

He glanced back at the "sorting" wondering if anyone he met over the summer would be a snake thing too.

To be fair, Katy had long been raised to strive for leadership positions and to seek opportunities for advancement... but the flip side was that big shiny badge made it really hard to have any fun. And Miss Nat surely wanted to have fun her last year at Hogwarts.

Katy wanted to have fun, at least. And having two big shiny badges in their house meant even less fun than usual. "I think you will," she sighed heavily. "I think this is the end of good times for us. Are you in the market for sleeping draughts?"

James squinted his eyes at the guy who was sorted before him. He seemed familiar somehow, was he from llvermorny before? He tried to remember the face. From the guy's accent he could tell that he sounded american for sure. "Hey. Are you from llvermorny?" He asked because James was obviously from there too.

Well, why don't you just look at that? Miss Sarcasm herself was here, and she was even in the same house Brent was in. This could either be a really good thing, or a really bad thing. Brent hadn't quite figured that one out yet. "So we do," he said with a grin. "At least I know who to go to if I ever need to know where the line is." See there? Sarcasm. He had it, too. "And thanks for the welcome." He kind of felt like he was in the party house, which seemed really cool.



Brent had quietened down long enough to hear the stomach of the guy next to him let out a growl. "Duuuude. Me, too," he said. "I'm starving. So when's the food come out?" Oh, and he should probably introduce himself. "I'm Brent, by the way." Just in case he hadn't been around for the whole intro earlier.

Brent had started to glance away, but then the boy's next question caused him to pause in his tracks. "Yeah, man. Went there my first three years," he said. Was it that obvious? Was it his accent or something?



Hearing his name from a girl sitting nearby, Brent turned to come face to face with a blonde that looked to be about his age. "I'm from California," he answered, "and no. I was definitely not cheerful when I found out there was no Quodpot or Quidditch here." That was a very true statement, and it had definitely not turned out to be the silver lining he had been hoping for. He had to laugh at her Pepper-up line. "So are all the girls here this bold, or did I just happen to luck out on the first two I met?" Between this girl and Skylar, they were going to hang him out to dry if he didn't pick up his game.

As Colt was just busy observing his surroundings because ya know he was known to do that. His friends back home call him out on that. They always told him, you know dude you seem to be lost in your own mind. As he was still dazing, lost in thought he felt a presence. He turned his head and saw Hady was there. He grinned and waved to her. "Yeah I know fancy ain't it?" he wiggled his eyebrows and pointed to his badge. Did she notice that he polished it last night. Figured everyone would see it today. Gotta keep up appearances. "I know I mean who would trust me with this much power?" Good question right? "Too bad I can't prank with ya as much as I used to.." he shrugged.

When Colt walked passed Natalia, he laughed because he knew she would be mad. He had to joke with her and push her buttons. It is what he does. He shrugged innocently and smirked. "Well then if you pour pumpkin juice on me, I mean only fair to fire back. My payback might not be PG as using pumpkin juice though.." Just a warning there fellow head girl. If you fight fire with fire you will get burned either way. "But seriously what do you say to the ankle biters coming in here..?" he asked. "I mean they are so tiny.." he said observing some of them.

As she walked by, he noticed Elle and he nodded towards her. They did have an awkward conversation but he let it go. That was in the past. "Hey Elle, how's it going?" He raised his eyebrows at the dude Brent. He made it really known that his presence was here. Not something Colt would do. In fact he had wayy too much energy for his liking. He nodded towards him and gave him a half wave. "The name is Colt." Then he heard someone call his name and he saw Skylar. Yeah he had seen her in lessons before. "Hey Skylar.." he greeted her. "Ah thanks." he looked down at his badge and it was gonna take time to get used to.

The head boy noticed an older slytherin but he didn't come over to introduce himself. Hey he didn't take it personally. He was just eyeing him and wondered if he knew him (James). He looked like one of his friends from back home. Ah well back onto other tasks like his growling stomach.

It was difficult not to sound overly acerbic in her response, mostly because Brent sounded like a surfer to Katy's ear and because she couldn't tell if this was his attempt at flirting or not. Flirting was clumsy if it wasn't obvious, but she'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

"We don't have Quodpot or Quidditch, but we do have a secret combat society," she dropped her voice to indicate it was a secret. "We can't talk about it here, though. Find me later." And her tone returned to normal volume. "I can't speak for all the girls in this school, nor in Slytherin, but you're definitely lucky." He met her, after all.

Yes his stomach was growling. He couldn't wait for the food, man. Glad he wasn't the only one sharing the same sentiment. "They say probably after the speech." James replied the boy. His name was Brent. Let's see, does the name ring any bells? Ah! He went to llvermorny too. No wonder he seemed famiiar. "James Severin, I went to llvermorny for four years. I think I've seen you around before, were you in Horned Serpent house?"he asked again.

The headboy seemed to be looking his way. He blinked at the older boy. He seemed familiar too...

Oliver found a seat near the middle of the table and smiled at everyone around him. He vowed to himself that he would be more social and make more friends since it was his last year at Hogwarts... he just needed to get over his shyness first. Honestly, what kind of seventh year didn't know his fellow housemates?

Since he didn't know everyone's names, he just offered a small wave to the people around him. "Hi, everyone! Good to be back, yeah??" Though he really had an amazing summer, he was excited to finish up his final year at Hogwarts and move on with whatever his life would become.

Duuuude. What was up with the Head Boy? Brent suddenly got the impression that he'd angered a wild beast, although he couldn't for the life of him figure out what he'd done. "Nice to meet you, Colt," Brent said, returning the nod. He started to make a comment on that Head Boy badge of his, but he also didn't want to give the impression that he was trying too hard.

All he knew was that being on the bad side of one of the Head students wasn't a good thing. Especially on day one of the school year.

...at least the girls were turning out easier to talk to.

Whooooa. What was that again? Brent turned toward her with a set of raised eyebrows he just couldn't help. "Seriously?" he asked, his voice dropping to match hers. "That's freaking awesome. Yeah. I'll definitely do that." He paused in their conversation so as to return to a normal speaking voice, and then added, "I think I am, too." Sweeeeet. He hoped meeting girls always turned out like this meet and greet did. "So what's your name? You know, so I can look for you later about that society." His voice trailed off in the end, since apparently the combat society was super secretive for some reason.

"Speech?" Brent asked. "From who?" His best guess would be the Headmistress. Brent knew it was a woman, but he had no idea what her name was. He should probably get that from somebody before he made a fool of himself. Brent had started to glance around the Great Hall for any sign of the Headmistress, when the boy said something that caused him to turn back around. "Whoooa, really? That's awesome! We probably passed each other in the corridors all the time or something," he said. He shook his head. "Wampus. I thought I'd be a Gryffindor here, but apparently that hat had other ideas."

Cal walked into the feast to find that his girlfriend was a bit busy with all the attention she was getting. All was fine. He'd get time with her alone eventually. Unlike his girlfriend, however, Cal wasn't a very social person, so he found a relatively empty spot at the table and sat down. Maybe everyone will get burned out quickly and settle down before it got too annoying.

Nat smiled as he said he loved the album. "I'm so glad. I was hoping it was your type of music. I get to see so many albums while putting them back and organizing. I always get the first dibs on things." Not really, but she liked to feel like she could.

He relaxed and had a more proper look. There seemed to be snake insignia. Hopefully nobody around here had a snake phobia. That would be awkward. He couldn't help but wonder what the snake meant. Maybe there was a "house" pet? No, that didn't make sense. The other table had a lion. They wouldn't give someone a lion and someone else a snake. That was not the way to treat children.

He then scanned the head table. He assumed those were the teachers. Interesting. There seemed to be a few.

Which... made sense when he thought about it. He did have to buy a lot of books, which meant a lot of classes, which meant a lot of teachers.

He glanced back at the "sorting" wondering if anyone he met over the summer would be a snake thing too.

So many first years this year. Was it the year of the ickles? They were kind of cute like little puppies, but she knew puppies peed on the carpets if you didn't watch them, so Nat moved towards the next first year she saw get sorted. "Hi welcome to Slytherin. I'm Natalia your Head Girl." She really couldn't help saying it now. It was just starting to be routine.

She watched Katy with amusement. Did Katy really think she wouldn't be the same person. There was one thing that Nat was it was Nat. She couldn't just turn into a full goodie goodie. Leaning over the table a bit with an amused smirk, "I think you are old enough now. I'll show you some tricks this term." Winking at her she chuckled a bit. That was until the girl said about sleeping draught, "No, I don't think I'm in the market for them at the moment. Tell me about your summer? Any new boyfriends?"

Still no boyfriend Natalia was really assuming he snuck off with Vince. RUDE he could have at least invited her. Though they both knew she had to be here. She couldn't miss the feast being head girl. It was her job now. So yeah.. she could see why she wasn't invited, but still she wanted to be. Anyway she noticed a familiar face and smiled. The best friend's brother always got a smile. Just as she was saying hello to Oliver the face she had been looking for the entire time came into view. Her smile grew seeing him. The summer break up was long forgotten and she was glad it was all worked out. Watching him find a seat and staying quiet she walked up behind him and put her arms around his neck. "Hey did you know that special Slytherins got kisses from the head girl? It's only the super special ones though." She sat down beside him and leaned in to give him that kiss. "I was starting to think you and Vince ditched the feast without inviting me." Yes she had her eyes at the Gryffindor table as well.
