Just outside of the office sits a small area just for the people who want to see the Defence Professor. This seating area contains hues that match the ones found in the office itself. Comfortable orange and teal sofas are dotted around a table that contain a few magazines about the latest defensive theories and spells.
However, something that catches your eye as you enter the area is the large mural that's been constructed there. The mural depicts a mountainous area with green hills and a grey castle. But the main focus of the mural sits with the large gold and red dragon that's rearing its head and firing a bought of fire towards a lone figure much smaller than the creature itself. The figure is one of a brave knight who blocks the fire and is ready to tackle the dragon itself. A pale yellow fairy can be seen aiding the knight by poking the dragon or tugging on its ear or otherwise distracting it. The animated scene, while looking like something out of an adventure book, is one that always made the Defence Professor smile everytime he looked at it.
Knock, take a seat and wait for Professor Hirsch to call you in.
Please make sure to post here first having your charrie knocking and wait for me to get back to you. I'll get to you as soon as I can. ^^
The mural was done here by Hadley Denaker (Callie)! Thank youuuu! <3
She had half a mind to just walk in, but as it was the beginning of term, Nicky Iver's better angels (there were not many) compelled her to knock as she was supposed to do.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Three solid, insistent, raps on his door should get the message across, yes? She leaned against the wall next to the door to wait, then, the blonde intending to stare down anyone who might try to encroach on her time with Hirsch.

In all honesty, Hirsch had not expected to get a visitor so soon. There might've been a few little hiccups now that the year was finally getting started but surely, surely, no one had gotten themselves into so much trouble that they needed his assistance?
Maybe he'd be proven wrong. Maybe.
Taking a sip of his cup of coffee - in case he really needed it to battle whatever this was about - the man headed towards the door and opened it to poke his head around it. Personally greeting said person would be easier if he was needed elsewhere, after all. His eyes looked around the area and then landed on-
"Miss Iver?!" he asked, perplexed. Their last meeting, still vivid in the Defence Professor's mind, hadn't gone smoothly and he was rather surprised to find her standing there, much less actually willing to talk to him. "What brings you here?" If this was about what they last talked about, he doubted whether he had enough coffee to deal with that.

This was stuff that needed to be addressed immediately, and Nicky tapped her foot impatiently during the admittedly short wait.
"I need to talk to you," she said rather shortly, pushing back from the wall. Duh. He was her head of house now, right? So there was that. Plus the other thing from last term.
Plus, even if she didn't much like him, she did like to look at him.
The slender blonde turned to face him. "So can I come in?"

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Mason was nervous. He was always nervous when he had to talk to an authority figure. And this person wasn't just his Head of House but also the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. And he had wanted to talk to that Professor ever since he had opened up his text book at home. The subject literally fascinated him and coming from Durmstrang and knowing a bit about the dark arts itself, Mason had wondered if he could get some more information.
But of course, most of the best books in the Library were in the forbidden sections and he needed permission to get one. So who was better to ask than his Head of House and DADA Professor in one?
Checking if his blue tie was on correctly and straightening his uniform jacket, Mason took a deep breath and knocked on the door. The knock itself was hesitant as if he was halfway through changing his mind which he already was.
Maybe this was stupid and he didn't need a permission form? Still, there was no turning back now and the Ravenclaw hoped he wasn't going to embarrass himself soon.

That tone. That tone was enough to tell the man that he wasn't in this girl's good books. And maybe, just maybe, she was here to discuss something with him that was going to make him feel uncomfortable. Neither one of those ideas went down well with the man.
Good luck, Hirsch.
Nevertheless, he nodded at her question and stepped aside to allow her enough room to walk past. "Come on in, take a seat." And try not to make him feel worse, okay?

Luckily for the Ravenclaw, Hirsch had been in his office when the knock came. In fact, he was just reading a recent letter, a small frown on his face, when the sound of the hesitant knocking took him out of his thoughts.
The man paused. That knock? It didn't sound like the knock of a confident person or someone who was in any urgent need but it sounded like the knock of someone who might not want to be there? Or someone who figured that they could get help from someone else instead. He surveyed the door over the top of his glasses, as if he was trying to see through it and figure out who was standing on the other side.
A moment or two passed before he called out, "Come in!" He started putting the letter back together and folding them up again. Personal, those were.

Daxton was not at all surprised about having been summoned to a meeting with his Head of House; he was surprised (except perhaps not really) that it had actually taken this long. Nevertheless, because he was interested in seeing what Hirsch - who was, apparently, his new Head of House - would have to say, Daxton turned up more-or-less on time to the seating area outside the office.
In the past, Daxton had always despised Hirsch, and he had made his feelings quite plain. But, what with all the recent changes in faculty this term, his views on Hirsch had... re-adjusted themselves, in various ways. That was not to say that Daxton liked him now, but... well, he was a constant in what had turned out to be an otherwise unsettling transition into Daxton's fourth year at Hogwarts, and that was difficult to ignore, no matter how much he tried.
Hirsch was also not terrible-looking, either. It had been noted.
As he strolled into the seating area outside of Hirsch's office, Daxton did a quick scan of the place, noting the sofas at once, and with no small amount of disgust; the orange and teal colour scheme needed to die a very quick death. The mural caught his eye for only a second, before Daxton went to take a seat on a nearby teal sofa.
He did not knock on the office door first, because Daxton tended not to knock on doors at all, but rather simply chose to wait until he was noticed. If he was not noticed at all, he would leave. Hirsch was expecting him today, and so sooner or later was likely to appear once it was clear that Daxton had not knocked, nor be likely to do so any time soon. While he waited in the seating area, Daxton pulled out a tattered paperback book from his pocket, and whiled away the minutes with some reading.

If he was completely honest with himself, Hirsch wasn't looking forward to this little meeting. From what he'd noticed in his lessons, Daxton Prince was about as fond of him as he was of a cockroach. The idea of having to sit and talk to someone who would, with no doubt, show every sign of not wanting to be there unsettled him.
But this was important.
The letter he'd received sat in front of him and he found himself glancing between that, his watch and the door every now and then. The time for the meeting came and then went and still, there wasn't a knock on the door. Weird? Maybe. Surely, the boy wouldn't skip this? It wasn't the most exciting of meetings but, again, this was important.
A few minutes ticked by and, when no knock came, Hirsch decided to take matters into his own hands, so to speak. The stride to the door was quick and he pulled open the door to poke his head outside and have a quick look at-
Oh.
Uh.
"Mr Prince, I didn't hear you come." Just a fact, mind you. "Come in, let's get this underway."
Aslan Evans didn't often visit Professors. Help was not something she asked for and in general anything she needed or wanted to learn could be done on her own with trial, trial, trial and error. Perhaps the process was more difficult, and.. Perhaps it was a truely Gryffindorian streak of stubborn, but the fifth year preferred her way and she would be sticking to it as long and as much as she could.
That being said, today was a bit of an end to that streak, for Aslan Evans had a question or rather a series of questions that no book had yet been able to explain to her, and as she couldn't exactly experiment with the idea on her own for lack of subjects, she and her rampant curiosity had been pushed into a corner. So here she was to see head of Ravenclaw house, Professor Hirsch.
Aslan knocked, her slightly bruised knuckles rapping against the wood as she looked over the lobby with some interest. It was, more or less the same as the others, except for the mural on the wall which had caught Aslan's attention as soon as she'd walked into the waiting room. It was a bit cartoonish, but the dragon and the pixie reminded her vaguely of something from her childhood, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She stepped away from the door, approaching the mural to better take in it's detail, her arms folded together under her chest. Curious.
Merlin this year was going by fast. And the castle was getting increasingly drafty and cold for the Southern Californian witch. That is why she looked like she was bundled up for a trek in the snow, even though she was just making her way through the castle. It was either this or stopping every two seconds to cast a warm air spell on herself.
She stopped as she entered Hirsch's seating area, and grinned so widely that her face hurt. Her mural was still there! In all its animated glory! Okay, that alone was enough to warm her through to the bone. He'd kept her mural up!
With a skip in her step now, Hadley closed the distance to the office door and, well, she was going to just knock, but opted for banging instead. She banged as loudly as her gloved hands would let her. BANG BANG BANG. Why? Because she knew Hirsch would simply shake his head at her. He was cool like that. Spinning on her heel, Hads made for the nearest seat and waited.
Let your light shine || Be the sun || You're important. Always.
Noelle made her way to Professor Hirsch's office. It was a familiar office by now. Professor Hirsch had helped her train last year. Now this year, Noelle had spoke with him about auror training. It was never too early to start.
She didnt know if anyone was in the office but she would wait her turn. She knocked three times to let him know someone was outside his door. Then, she waited.

Hirsch wasn't in his office at that moment. No. In fact, having found some more books on weird topics, the man had just been up to the Ravenclaw tower to deposit them off. He certainly had no use for the history of dance and the correct way to make a patchwork quilt but there had to be someone up there who'd find the topics interes-
Oh?
Having reached his waiting area, he stopped short at the sight of a person already there. They hadn't been waiting long, had they? He couldn't have been up there for longer than 10 minutes maximum, and yet......
Shaking this off, the Defence Professor tucked his hands into his pockets and approached the girl quietly. "Do you like it? A student made it for me. I think I'm meant to be the knight in shining armour." An amused smile played on his face as he turned from the mural to the Gryffindor. What was the verdict, Evans?

He's been enjoying a quiet couple of hours. It was to that he enjoyed teaching but with the havoc going on in the castle, he was taking the time to just relax. It was nice, wasn't it?
That was, until the loud banging on his door happened.
What in the name of?!
Hirsch blinked up at the door, slightly perplexed. Who could be knocking so loudly? Was it that urgent? If someone had managed to dismantle the common room or any of his rooms while he was here, he wouldn't be happy. This was your warning, stranger.
Trying to remain somewhat calm, the man kicked his feet off of his table and strode up to the door. The door was pulled open and he stuck his head out to have a look at exactly who-
Pause.
"Haddie?!" Confused? Yes he was.

Luckily for the girl, the man was in his office. Now.
He'd just gotten back from his usual jog around the grounds and had only just managed to get back to his office sporting some clean, non-sweaty clothes when the knocking came. Close shave? It really was.
"Come in!" he called out, glad he wasn't still in his jogging attire. If he had to sit and talk to a student or the headmaster, being stinky wouldn't be the best way to go about it. As it were, he flopped down onto his seat, sort of to look as though he'd been there all this time.

Yaaaaaaay
Noelle's smile brightened as she opened his door and peeked her head in. She saw him sitting there, looking as if he'd been there all day. "Hey Professor." She said warmly and comfortably. He was pretty much the only professor that didn't make her go into thats a grown up with authority over you mode. That was probably due to their year of defense training together. They had some tough emotional moments to conquer to get her to be better at defense.
"Mind if I talk to you a moment?" She was sure he would know what this was about. They had talked about auror training briefly at the end of the last school year.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
When the Professor reminded him about their little 'meeting' after class, he couldn't say he was all that surprised. The average person would assume that with all the chaos of the lesson and how ....er...brilliantly everyone did that the man would forget the little mishap. Who knew, maybe he'd think 'oh, it's lunch. No need to deprive Mr. Bellaire' but NOOOOOOO, this was still happening.
This was still...happening.
Rather than wait for the man to be done in the classroom so they could walk to the office together, Blaise went on ahead. Eventually the Professor would keep up and eventually they'd go inside. No need to make things awkward any sooner than they needed to be.
While he waited, the boy began thinking about all the things he could say. There was the most minuscule chance that he could talk his way out of this. The look the Professor had worn earlier said differently but.....a Gryffindor could hope.

For one, wild moment, Hirsch had thought hat Blaise had forgotten all about their meeting - rather conveniently - and had left without coming to see him first. It was confusing to look around the class and not see a sign of the Gryffindor.
That is, until he stepped into the Seating Area.
The man gave the boy a once over before speaking up, "Hello, Blaise. Into my office, if you will," he said, giving the door a tap with his wand and opening it for the fourth year. Let's get this over and done with.

Life was full of uncertainties was it not?
As the kitchens offered him little in the way of advice and guidance he opted instead to visit the one Professor in the school who he really truly valued the opinion of. Professor Hirsch. Teacher, mentor... and he supposed the man was a kind-of idol. Kind-of ONLY because he didn't really fancy following Hirsch's footsteps and landing himself a teaching gig. That could only end one way, badly.
And so it was with a contemplative gaze into the space occupying the distance between his face and the Professor's door that he knocked with his foot a couple of times. Foot, because his hands were occupied, he was not willing to risk his bacon falling out of his breakfast roll... nor out of Hirsch's, should he fancy a bite too.

Hirsch was already back at his office and ready to go and do a bit of boxing in the Defence Training Area. Keeping a punching bag in his office just wasn't very safe or practical so going to that room was the only option, even if it meant he sometimes ended up being interrupted by someone or another.
Like now, for example.
Sure, he was still in his office, so to speak, but he was just strapping on some boxing gloves when the knock came and made him pause. His eyes found the door and he stood there for a moment, almost as if he was trying to look beyond the door itself and at the person knocking - rather heavy knocks they were, too - on the other side. Could this wait......?
"Come in!" he called, almost before he could help himself. What if it was about something important?
OOC: NAME TWIN! Kind of You can go ahead and post in the office thread now ^^
It had been a while since Daxton had been around Hogwarts - not since January, in fact - but here he was again, in response to a message (a summons) and knowing exactly what it must mean. He had been escorted back to the school, this time by Angelo, until he was 'safely' inside the school gates. Now, here he was, back outside of Hirsch's office, in the (still ugly, by the way) seating area. He had decided against wearing his uniform and instead wore the clothes provided to him by Keiran (and his exorbitant amounts of money), certain as he was about what was about to transpire.
Daxton found it was best not to think about all of the things he had come to associate with this school, lest the spiralling start again, and instead thought back to the last time he had been in this office, being given his last warning. Rather than feel a sense of fear, or dread, that sense of amusement came back to him. That meeting felt like a million years ago, and oh how things had changed.
Once outside the office, Daxton did not knock. He never knocked, ever, and was not about to start now. Instead he stood there, waiting to hear footsteps approach the other side of the door, and taking in the sight of the seating area once again. Was there still time to burn it down? Would he even be able to? There was not so much harm in trying.

Hirsch was livid. Positively livid. Never, in his entire teaching career, did he think he'd have to face a situation like this one. Sure, it wasn't exactly news that Daxton liked him about as much as people liked a Dementor's presence but this was pushing it. This was different and he hardly expected the boy's behaviour to get even worse. In fact, the man had held a tiny ray of hope that the time away from the castle might have done him some good but it was too late for that.
His robes billowed out behind him as he marched into his seating area and took a look around. If he was completely honest with himself, he half-expected the boy to skip this meeting, not bother to call in and not bother to turn up. It was therefore a surprise to see the young Ravenclaw standing there, as if he was used to meetings like this one.
The Defence Professor squared his jaw slightly before taking a few steps closer towards Daxton, moreso to get himself into the boy's range of vision than anything else. "If you'll follow me, Mr Prince, we're going up a floor to the Headmaster's office."
And with that, he turned around and started walking away.

And with that, he turned around and started walking away.
He had heard the footsteps, because they were quite impossible to miss. It did not take a genius, or someone with super-sensitive hearing (and Daxton was both of these) to hear the extra force in the footsteps, the quick-but-not-quite-quick-enough-to-be-hurried gait. It had to be a seventh year, or an adult, most likely a grown man. In fact, Daxton was slow in realising, perhaps it was Hirsch. It was not beyond the realm of possibility, only... unlikely.
But, apparently, entirely correct. Daxton listened closely to the footsteps, tracking them as they came closer, and finally entered the area. Hirsch.
Daxton looked over at him, took in the sight of him, and waited.
Headmaster's office. Right. Daxton was almost certainly correct in his prediction.
As Hirsch walked away, Daxton hesitated for just a moment, as a surge of feelings suddenly rose up inside of him. But the moment passed, and calm quickly descended over him, and he was fine. Too fine. Too calm. Barely present, but still very much there.
He shoved his hands into his pockets, and followed after Hirsch, keeping his eyes fixed on the man's shoes as he went.

She had just got the owl and she was still very ADKJFA;LFJKAL;FJA;D on getting the owl. Grabbing her bag she headed to Professor Hirsch's office. She had to tell him, he was part of the reason she had this letter in her hand. Moving down the steps quickly she kept and eye out for any crazy polgreist trying to make the stairs a slip in slide again.
Getting down to the office she hoped he hadn't went to dinner already. She checked her watch and decided to give it a shot. She knocked a bit louder then usual but her excitement had taken over. She also was thinking about going to the practice room to try and practice a bit more and was hoping he'd be free for that.

Knock

KNOCK KNOCK!!
Luckily for Natalia, Hirsch was, in fact, in his office right now. Some last minute marking was getting done and as such, the man had completely neglected the idea of having dinner. He glanced at his watch every now and then, looking to see how far he had come, only to be met with a disappointed feeling.
It was a shame he couldn't use Hogwarts's address to order takeaway. Some chicken wings would do him good, no doubt.
It was just as the man was getting up from his seat and taking a stretch that the sound of some heavy knocking came. His eyes flew over towards the door, all thoughts about food now driven out of there. Was this important? Did they have to come now, when he needed food? Could this wait?
Hirsch waited a moment or two before striding over towards the door and pulling it open. The result of seeing who was standing on the other side was instantaneous: the look of tiredness - it has been a long day - was gone and instead, there stood a man wearing a wide, dimpled smile on his face. "Natalia! Come in, come in."
Food could wait, then.
OOC: ALIIIIII You can go ahead and post in the office now! ^^
