Default Great Charms Challenge First and Second Years

As you come up to the door to the Ever Changing Practice Room you will notice that the door is locked and for good reason. A list of directions are on the door and you can hear screams coming from inside. Was someone locked in there needing help?

Once all the pixies are in their cage they can easily knock it over to get back out so please make sure you stick the cage in it's place before leaving and close the door on your way out. You have thirty minutes to complete this challenge.

1 of 4 Amigos Don't underestimate me!

Miranda stood outside the door to the Practice room. she was reading and taking mental notes from the directions posted. She had been excited to enter and compete in this charms challenge.So... Ok she needed to unlock the door first... ' Hmmmm' she thought to herself trying to remember to charm to unlock things....It's aloh.... something... Merlin.... Why was she having such a hard time remembering. She thought back to a time her mum had locked them out of the house...Trying to remember something from 3 years ago wasn't easy..... Ahhh ha!... Alohomora!
She finally figured it out... only took about 5 minutes too long , but at least it came to her. So, pulling her wand from within her robes .. she pointed it at the lock on the door and with a flick of her wrist and the incantation spoken " Alohamora!"
Click! and the hinges freed slightly and the commotion inside was near deafening...
Bloody Pixies! screaming about the room. Whizzing by here and there and everywhere.Great... now to deal with these buggers.....
" Okay, Randi how in the blazes am I to get them into that cage?" she said aloud to herself. She half lost her nerve to continue, but quitting wasn't what a Blaze did so she slowly pushed the door open slightly and slipped into the room making sure none of the pixies had escaped. Edging into the practice room slowly and quietly so as not to turn their attentions to her.She stood against the door as she shut it behind her and there she stood for near on 10 minutes thinking of how best to catch them and cage them up.
Ah yes... a smile crept onto her face... this one she remembered seeing her professor use before... A very simple charm , but very very effective...
So she turned toward the closest of the 10 pixies and pointed her wand, " Immobulus!" and there it froze... Mid air... Miranda watched it float for a moment thinking how strange it was that the pixie didn't hit the floor when she cast her charm.
But realizing she didn't have much time left to lock the rest of them up she grabbed the little creature and stuffed it into the cage and locked it...That bugger can't escape again.otherwise she'd never finish in time.
So, turning towards the rest of them she handled them one sometimes two at a time if they were close enough. Randi had finally caught the last pixie " Thank Merlin That's done... now to get the cage to the middle of the room so they couldn't escape before I leave." Thinking aloud again. " Hmmmmm....."
YESSSS!!!!! Pointing her wand once more " Wingardium leviosa" and the cage rose into the air and moved in whatever direction Miranda's wand was directing it.. So.. of course with this charm she placed the cage down very carefully so as not to have the cage burst open again and release the nasty little blighters again.
Satisfied with her performance she smiled to herself knowing she did rather well considering...
Her tasks completed , Miranda turned and left the practice room making sure close the door tightly behind her ..

Harriet was really excited for the new charms challenge. She had missed the last one, but she was totally excited for this one. She had been learning, reading and practicing a lots of new charms, so that she could do really well with the challenge. She didn't know good she would be, but she would try her best. That was all she could do.

She smiled as she held towards the room, but she stopped by the door, and she held a breath. She could do this. And she was only a firstie, so it wouldn't matter if she really sucked? But she was sure she wouldn't. She'd learnt good spells so far. Hattie reached out, to open the door, and found it was locked. "Oh..." Well that was new. She tilted her head, looking at the door. That must have been part of the challenge. Okay. She needed to open the door. Now she knew that there was a charm to open the door, she just needed to remember it.

She bit her lip, as she thought of it. "Oh. Yes!" She smiled, and pulled out her wand. She knew the spell now! Pointing her wand at the door handle, she performed the wand movement, as she said the words "alohomora" And the door opened! "Woot!" Boy was she glad that she had tried that spell before. Her practice seemed to have worked well for her.

And now she could get into the room. Keeping her wand out, she headed into the room and blinked. Pixies. A lot of them. Well, about 10 she thought. They moved too quickly for her to catch them. "Oh no...." She ducked, as one tried to pull at her hair! This was not good. Harriet figured that she needed to get the pixies back into the cage, before leaving herself. Okay. She could do that. She just needed to work out how to do it.

Now she figured that trying to move them when they were still moving wasn't going to work. So she needed to work out how to do it. "Hmm..." She kept moving around the room, trying to stop getting hit by the pixies as she thought. Oh wait. She'd got it! She needed to make the pixies stuck, like stop them moving. Then it would be super easy to get them into the cage. Now she just needed to think of what the charm was. She was positive that she had read about it before. She'd done a lot of reading in the lead up to the second challenge.

"Come on Hattie. just think" She murmured, shaking her head. "Oh wait... I know...." She knew it. She could use the freezing charm. She was sure she'd read about Hermione Granger using that to get rid of pixies when she'd been at Hogwarts. So hopefully she could do the same! And Hermione had only been a 2nd year, so that meant the spell couldn't be too hard right? She would only be able to tell by performing the spell. That was just what she was going to do.

She stood still, took in a deep breath, and performed the wand movement, whilst saying "immobulus" confidently. It worked, a little anyway, and two of the nearest pixies went still. "Perfect! She murmured, as she ran forward, and put the two pixies into the cage, and shut the door. Good. Two down, eight to go. Now she just needed to be a little more confident, and she was sure everyone would go still.

"Okay. You can do this. Confidence and concentrate" She murmured, as she took her position again. She took a deep breath, before doing the wand movement again, whilst saying "Immobulus" She felt more confident this time, and it worked! All of the pixies in the room went still. "Awesome!" She murmured, before running around the room, collecting the pixies, and carefully putting them into the cage. She wanted to be quick because she didn't know how long the charm would last for. So she wanted to make sure that she had gotten all of the pixies in the cage before they started moving again.

Finally the last pixie was in the cage, and she was closing the cage. "Well done Paton. You did it" And she was proud of herself. Now to get the cage into the middle of the floor. Oh that was easy. She knew that charm. It was one of the first ones she'd learnt. It was the levitating charm she that she needed to use. Smiling, she performed the wand movement whilst saying "Wingardium Leviosa And the cage did nothing. "Oh. Come on." She muttered, shaking her head as she repeated herself. Thankfully the cage rose into the air, and she carefully moved it to the middle of the room.

But now she wanted to make sure that she didn't know the cage over. It looked a little wobbly, and she didn't want all of the pixies getting out. That would just be counter productive of all the hard work she had just done. Now the spell to make it stick to the floor. She just needed to think about it. At least she wasn't surrounded by pixies that were pulling at her hair now.

it took her a few minutes to think of the spell but then she had it. "Aah yes" Smiling, she pointed her wand at the cage, and performed the wand movement, whilst saying the incantation. She was sure it was stuck to the floor, and so she smiled, waved at the Pixie's before turning around and leaving. Task completed. Well done Hattie Paton.

Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll

Fiyero was sooo ready for this! He'd done pretty well in the first part of the Charms Challenge, but still not as well as he would've liked, so he was eager to prove himself this time around. As he approached the door, he heard screams, just like the screaming toys from the first challenge. Surely he didn't have to do that challenge again, did he? As he glanced over the directions on the door, he realized that the screaming came from pixies this time. Okay, then, that made things a little different!

He wasted no time in drawing his wand and pointing it at the doorknob. "Alohomora!" he said as confidently as he could. A faint click told him he'd succeeded in unlocking the door. There, so far so good. at least he hadn't messed up on the first spell!

The Gryffindor boy had barely enough time to let himself inside before he was ambushed. A mob of pixies flew right at him, and he had to cover his head with his arms to keep from being dive-bombed. Merlin's beard, these things were annoying! He took a moment to consider which spell to use in rounding them up, but it was difficult tho think straight with all those pixies whizzing around him. He knew more than one spell that might work, but which one had the best chances? Aha, he had it!

"Immobulus!" he cried, pointing his wand at the pixie nearest him, but it darted out of the way just in time, blowing a taunting raspberry at him. Alright, you little pests, you asked for it! "Immobulus," he said again. This time his spell hit a pixie square in the stomach, and it floated motionless in front of him. There, one down... but he still had several more to go.

Fiyero repeated that same spell a few more times until all ten pixies had been immobilized. Now he just had to get them back into their cage... and fast, since he didn't know when that spell would wear off. He reached up and grabbed the pixies two, sometimes three at a time, quickly stuffing them into their cage. When the last pixie had been caught, he slammed the cage door shut. Was he supposed to lock the cage? The directions hadn't said, but better safe than sorry, right? Besides, he didn't have enough time left to catch all those pixies again if they got out! "Colloportus," he said, aiming his wand at the cage door.

There, now all he had left to do was put the cage in the middle of the room, and he knew just the spell to do it. "Windargium leviosa!" The cage rose into the air, and he gently guided it with his wand toward the center of the room. Now to make sure it stayed there... but what spell should he use?! The Stickfast Hex? No, that was for gluing people's shoes to the floor... he didn't think it would work on cages. Oh, yeah! He knew what to do now!

Fiyero pointed his wand at the base of the cage. "Epoximise," he said; nothing happened. "Expoimise!" he repeated, this time a little louder. Still nothing... He was beginning to get frustrated! He took a deep breath. Here's hoping third time's the charm (literally)! "Epoximise!" This time the cage became glued to the floor, and not a moment too soon! His earlier spell was starting to wear off, and some of the pixies were already rattling the bars of the cage. Not this time guys, he thought, glancing back at the pixies with a triumphant smirk as he left the room.

He didn't remember the directions saying anything about locking the door back, so he just contented himself with making sure it closed firmly behind him. Having completed the assigned task, he turned to the viewing area with a deep bow and wand twirl, just like the last time. Hey, showmanship never hurt, right?

Kimothée Chalamet • The UWU Agenda • Once Baby, Now Trouble • All Growed Up

Vivian was really glad that her first Charms Challenge had been a success, and she was amused with the score she got (although she secretly wanted a perfect one) so here she was again, to challenge herself with the second round. And she did do her reading and reviewing of Charms in case new ones would come up in this round. Plus, she had a brand new stash of marshmallows in her pocket for this event too. Nobody could ever go wrong with one. She had also told her mum about her experience with the first challenge and oh what joy it brought to Vanya Fairfield to know her daughter was actually learning something when she was far away from home. Her dad, though, he was proud too but if only Vivian could send virtual winks towards him, he'd know what else she had been up to, really.

The blonde stood up when it was her turn for the challenge. She made her way towards the door, locked as usual, just like the previous time she had been here. She squinted towards the list of directions. The usual, thirty minutes to complete the challenge as well. The last time, Vivian actually panicked with the short amount of time given to them but she knew this one would be better. Easier even, if her extra studying didn't fail her today.

Vivian took her wand out. Alright, she was ready for this. Her thirty minutes started now. She pointed her wand at the door and sent an "Alohomora!" towards it, with the reverse S hand movement. She heard a click from the door and, with the grin, she knew that she was successful. Oh, come on. This part was always the easy one. She skipped over and turned the knob open and...

She let out a SCREAM.

The Slytherin would have preferred to deal with more screaming Barbies, just like the first challenge, but now she was wrong about things being better. This was DEFINITELY NOT. Two of the pixies were already pulling on her hair from both sides. Her hair was being yanked from left and right and the eleven year old tried to yank her hair back but to no success. Was Primeaux being serious? Did he not know that this Slytherin didn't like her hair being played with? She let out a groan and sort of swatted a pixie away, but it came back towards her anyway and started pulling her robes this time.

But AWHELLNO, she wasn't going to allow her WAND to be taken from her. Vivian glared at a third pixie that was making grabby hands towards her beloved magical stick. "Back off! This is MINE. GET YOUR OWN!" The Slytherin was seriously going to burst any moment. If only she could just run away and leave these pixies behind? Nah, she had to do something.

Successfully pulling her wand back to herself, the Slytherin sent an angry glare and an "IMMOBULUS!" with the hand movement that looked like two mountains and a river down below it, towards the pixie that was diving to get a grasp of her wand. It then stopped moving and sort of floated int he air as well. "Lesson learned: don't ever lay your pesty finger on my wand." And she sent more freezing charms towards the pixies around her. "Immobulus! Immobulus!" She sent two towards the pixies that were at it on her hair with more twirling and flourishing of her wand because of the hand movement. Once all of the ten pixies were left frozen in the air, Vivian felt all SMUG and smirked at their poor inanimate faces. "Told ya not to mess with me."

But uh... now that they were all floating in midair, she did kind of have a hard time trying to reach those that were a little bit higher than her two feet could manage. This caused for yet another spell to use! "Carpe Retractum!" she said, and an orange rope sort of came out of her wand. Vivian then whipped the rope forward and back, retrieving an immobile pixie with it. Vivian then stuffed each pixie back inside the cage after she retracted all ten of them. All good now! The Slytherin sent a wink towards the pixies, since they can't flinch a muscle. "Finite!" The rope then disappeared from her wand. Alright, so the real trouble was finished!

Before she was about to turn around and leave the room, she blinked. Oh... RIIIIIGHT. She was supposed to stick the cage in place before she left. "Epoximise!" she pointed her wand at the base of the cage and it somehow glued itself in place. Great! So now she was absolute done-done. Boo yeah! But still, not happy about her possible doom because of those pixies. Had it not been for her awesome Charms skills, she would have left this room with a bald head and a scowl plastered on her face. It wasn't a good sight for anyone, really. Oh, and for goof measure so that these pixies didn't leave ever again, Vivian glared at them one more time and pointed her wand at them the door of the cage. "Colloportus!" she said and did a straight no-curve P-shaped hand movement. The cage's door then clicked and the first year smirked. HA! Let's see them leave this cage now, eh?

Anyway, time to leave FOR GOOD. "See you never, pixies!" The eleven year old skipped her way out of the ever changing practice room and closed the door behind her. She double-checked the list of instructions - it didn't state to close the door before she left, she wanted to point out - and was pleased to see that she had successfully done all the tasks. Alright, she was all good. This caused for more marshmallows to nom and letters to send, to please her mum. Hehe.

TTFN, ta-ta for now! #VivianIonaFairfieldOut...Again

♥Dunkin | Pixie's Precious Pea | kpop goddess | sneaky sounder | forever slytherin♥

The directions being on the outside of the door took a bit of the mystery out of everything. Jaemin stepped up to it, tilting his head and reading them through three times over, very very carefully. Why did there always have to be screaming... he wrinkled his nose in distaste and, with a sigh, fished his wand out of his pocket. If he could do a spell to make it so he couldn't hear anything, he would soooo do that right now.

Instead, the small boy gave his wand a swish and murmured a soft 'Alohomora', listening intently for the click of the lock undoing itself. He reached for the doorknob, holding onto it for a long moment before pushing the door open and slipping inside the room. The pandemonium inside was... sorta beyond what he was expecting. The electric-blue pixies were flitting this way and that, grabbing onto things and upsetting the already knocked-over cage on the floor again and again. As soon as he'd opened the door, one had noticed, and it came zipping toward him; the small teen flinched, turning to cast a quick 'Colloportus' at the door just in case they actually could open it themselves.

The wicked little thing grabbed at his ear, and Jaemin winced as he batted at it. His ears were... more sensitive now. Prickly little fingers were not welcome, and he was sorely tempted to just grab the thing and toss it back into the cage by hand. But that wasn't really a charm, and he was pretty sure he would lose points for that, so he drew a quiet breath and pointed his wand in its direction as it dizzily twirled in one spot.

"Immobulus," he said, as clearly as he could. It kept twirling, but... it seemed to have gone completely still. Idly the small boy stepped over to the cage and set it upright again; a seize and pull charm put the frozen thing in the cage, and he looked up again at the rest as they flittered and fluttered all around. It was weird how they could fly without wings... he would have to look them up later to see if there was an explanation for that. Hmm.

It was going to be hard to immobilise them all when they were all over the place... Jaemin frowned, tugging at his soft grey hair absently as he considered his options. He could try to lure them, but... how? How were you meant to lure pixies? They just liked to pick on people and cause mischief. So really... the best way to lure them was just to be here, right? The Slytherin frowned and stepped away from the door, reaching up his left arm to wave it about.

"Hey! Hey you!" Two of the pixies immediately noticed him, and came darting down at him; Jaemin groaned and turned his arm to protect himself, sticking his wand right in one of their faces and casting again. "Immobulus."

It flipped backward, away from his arm with the casting, and the other one let out a shriek as he turned his wand to it. The blue blighter tried to get away, immediately pushing off his arm, but a quiet "carpe retractum" caught it and sent it sailing into the cage. In there, it was easy enough to freeze it so it couldn't escape again, and he 'carpe retractum'd the other stunned one into the cage.

Sigh. Seven more. This was SO MANY. Why did it have to be so many. Jaemin dutifully stepped away from the cage again, and waved his arms, and waited for more to come at him. It seemed like a good enough plan... until five of the remaining pixies shot down at him and grabbed hold of his sleeve rather viciously. They tugged, rather hard, and the small Slytherin let out a yelp as his feet separated from the floor. NOPE. NOOOOOOPE. Small boy did not like flying AT ALL and these pixies would NOT be taking him away from sweet solid mother earth.

"R-Rictusempra!" he managed, slashing his wand at the pixies on his arm. They let go almost immediately, giggling their little high-pitched giggles and clutching at themselves, and the small Slytherin staggered a bit as his feet settled back on the floor properly. With them incapacitated by tickles, it was easy enough to cast a quick 'Locomotor Pixies' at them to send them into the cage with the rest, and he slammed the door behind them.

SUFFER THE TICKLING FOR A WHILE, RUDE THINGS.

There were still two left... Jaemin chewed on his lip and pointed his wand up at them as one grabbed the other and tugged at its arm. Almost whispering, he cast "Confundus" upwards, hoping it worked well enough. It caught them both, thank Merlin, and they stayed where they were, looking around as if they were surprised. The second year blinked, surprised that had actually worked, and cast another "Carpe Retractum" up at them. The creatures in the cage were still giggling hysterically, but they jumped at the door as he opened it to push the last two in; doing his best not to swear, because swearing was bad especially in this environment, Jaemin pushed them all inside and slammed the little door shut.

Would a colloportus work on this door, too? Since it was technically a tiny door? Jaemin shrugged and cast it anyway, just to give it a bit of extra hold, and then stuck the cage to the floor with a permanent sticking charm. Hopefully nobody needed to take the cage out of this room any time soon... or ever. Giving the thing an experimental shake, he shrugged and made for the door, leaving the cage of frozen, confused, and giggling pixies behind. Another cast of Colloportus on the door after he exited, and he was dooooone.

Charms Challenge numero dos! Tenacius Salander reporting for duty!

The Curly Top couldn’t help lean in near the door for a moment though, trying to listen in whats behind the door. So far he couldn’t hear anything that sounded like screaming for help like last time, although there was some kind of activity he couldn’t quite place. Alright instructions, yes he will read them before ramming his arm on a closed door again.

And closed door this was again. And blue green eyes grew large in surprised upon reading that pixies were whats causing the commotion on the other side of the door. No fire or anything? Good. Or not good. It means he'd be dealing with creatures that are notorious for not wanting to be caged. But of course this challenge is #Tenaciusly accepted!

He took out his wand and with a reverse S wandstroke he uttered "Alohamora." Door clicks open. But with the next wandstroke he uttered "Protego!" creating a shield charm to act as a protective barrier as he enters through the doorway. No one gets out you little troublemakers.

And from behind the magical barrier he looks up. Ten of them alright, a few of them looking at him and trying to work their way around him. Shutting the door behind him, he held onto the shield barrier as he thought of what to do next. They were all over the place!

But soon enough his Protego shield faded and the pixies made their move. Stay steady stay steady... Come closer to me.. Closer closer-- NOW! He suddenly dropped to his bum as he flicked his wand with two pointed strokes and yelled out "Immobulus!" And the pixies that wouldve been picking at his ears had been suspended, dumbfounded and immobile in the space where he had stood. He counted them-- four lil buggers. Haha score for the Salander boy!

He picked up the cage and promptly collected the frozen pixies, closing the cage door and setting it aside. The problem with that move is that the other six has witnessed all of it, and now they were starting to scamper away. Normally he'd laugh and yell for them to run for the hills, but no, his task was to collect all of them. He was the Collector heh.

He ran about this way and that, trying to corner as much of the pixies as he could. But they were just pretty darn fast, and his Immobulus spells were missing their mark. Even as an energetic Gryffindor that he was, he was already getting exhausted. So right, lets even out the playing field eh? He whipped out his wand and with the wand stroke he uttered "Arresto Momentum" in as wide a stroke as he could muster, trying to cover as much blue flying pests as he could.

It worked!

The pixies, which were all zipping about two seconds earlier, now looked like they were flying in slow motion. The leonine lad had to laugh. Is this what the Flash sees the world when he's super fast? Man he can get used to this.

The ones he can reach out by hand he collected, making light of the situation even, as the pixies practically flew slowly into the open cage. The others still high above his head he collected with the help of "Carpe Retractum" drawing them nearer to him like a prized bull fighter.

Was that everything? That looked like everybody eh?

And last but not least. Stick the cage onto the floor. He drew his wand around a spot on the floor with an "Adhaero." and also to the bottom of the cage for good measure. And down the cage went, with him pressing it down to make sure it sticks.

All done? No fire damage? Nothing else that needs rescuing? Well his tummy needed rescuing. Running after pixies was no joke, and he can hear the rumbling of complaints in his guts that it needs nourishment!

Tenacius took a last look at the instruction-- oh don’t lock the door this time? Just close it? Aye aye Proffesah.

And with that, the Gryffindor Ace exited the room, closing the door behind him.
