It was duel time and this Slytherin was READY. Like always.

Again, he was gonna duel a fellow prefect and that was exciting so Hugo was hoping they could pull off a good match. His opponent was Frankie and he liked him, he was a cool person but he was not going to go easy on him. NUH UH. He was even going to try non verbals for the very first time in a duel and that was exciting but nerve racking as well because what if it didn't worked out? BUT NO! He was feeling confident. Mhm.

Hugo gave a what's up nod at Frankie and bowed and without waiting too much he cast the first spell, "Expelliarmus!" and then a second one, he spoke softly "Locomotor wibbly" Good? Good. He had his wand ready for anything.

What was it with Hirsch pairing him up with student leaders this year? Did he not know that duelling against some of them was bound to cause tension between them for a while? Surely the man would have learned his lesson when he made him duel Henric. At least this time he was going head-to-head with Hugo. They got along well, but there was a possibility of that changing today. Frankie, by no means, was going to make this duel easy.

The Gryffindor matched the Slytherin's head nod and bowed in return without saying a single word. There clearly was going to be no time for trash talk, considering the other boy looked like he didn't want to wait another minute to start casting spells and hexes at him. He didn't mind at all. It meant no nonsense, just straight up duelling.

A shield charm was instantly casted without much effort the moment Hugo started saying his first incantation, deflecting the disarming charm right back at him. Over the years, Frankie had mastered producing shield charms. However, he was still working on listening very carefully to his opponent, in particular the more quiet ones. Hugo's second spell went unheard, catching him off-gaurd as his legs turned jelly-like and he collapsed to the floor.

Once he pushed himself up off the floor and got back on his feet, the blond eyed the Slytherin and flicked his wand twice. "Avis! Oppugno!" With a flash of blue light, a flock of birds shot out of the tip of his wand and headed straight for Hugo. A smirk grew on Frankie's lips.

This was the second time that Hugo was dueling a prefect. So, yeah he had big expectations or maybe Frankie was feeling down? Hugo had heard about he and Hady breaking up or maybe they were back together? Who knew.

But no, Frankie was not feeling down. At all.

The Gryffindor easily deflected the first spell and instead it went back to Hugo causing his wand to fly away from his hand. At least his second spell worked and while Frankie had jelly legs, Hugo ran towards his wand and grabbed it quickly because yeah his opponent wasn't going to wait much to cast another spell and so it happened. "Protego!" said before the flock of bird could attack him.

Hugo took a deep breath. He didn't cast anything, he just stood there.

After a few seconds, green sparks came out from Hugo's wand towards Frankie's direction, followed up by a Confundus charm casted non verbally. And if that wasn't enough....well, one more spell was allowed, right? Right. "Incarcerous" said Hugo softly.

Needless to say, the Gryffindor prefect was rather disappointed that Hugo casted a shield that prevented the birds from attacking. As each bird hit the barrier, puffs of feathers went into the air and gently fell to the floor. All of that magic had been done for nothing. Couldn't the boy had just let one peck his head before ridding them all? Merlin.

Frankie watched cautiously as the Slytherin took a deep breath and just stood there. After waiting what seemed like ages, he was tempted to start tapping his foot impatiently or taunting him about how is grandmother could duel faster AND better.

Suddenly green sparks shot out of Hugo's wand, which didn't shock him in the least. He knew that spell and knew that it was harmless, so he just let it hit him squarely in the chest. But he knew that was all meant to be a distraction. His co-prefect seemed to be concentrating rather hard while making his next wand movement. The blond didn't quite know what spell it was, but he rolled onto the floor and stood back up a few feet away from his original position just in the nick of time to avoid whatever spell that was...

Only to be bound together with rope. As it tightened, Frankie eyed the prefect across from him. Really, Hugo? Three offensive spells? THREE?! Was that even good duelling etiquette? He struggled with the rope for a moment with a distasteful look on his face as he quickly thought of his next move. Within a few seconds, he shouted, "Finite!" As the ropes began to disintegrate, the blond did not hesitate to attack back. First he casted the Ear-Shriveling Curse, which was then followed up by the Slug-Vomiting Charm.

Well, at least the last spell hit Frankie. That was one of Hugo's fave and also, the non verbal worked except that Frankie managed to avoid it. BUT IT HAD WORKED, OKAY? That's what it mattered to Hugo.

He was prepared that once Frankie was free from the ropes he was gonna strike back. And so he did. Hugo easily casted protego deflecting the first spell but the second spell came too fast and it hit him. He was vomiting slugs. Slugs. The thought of that only caused to make him want to throw up more. He felt sick and not to mention that he could not talk, he had his wand ready though and kept an eye on Frankie.

Well played, Paton, well played.

He was impressed with Hugo's duelling thus far. His opponent wasn't being overly harsh or too easy, which was making things interesting. He could feel beads of sweat beginning to form on his forehead, a sure sign that the Slytherin prefect was keeping him on his toes. The boy was clever, but Frankie was determined to outsmart him.

A bit bummed out that the ear-shriveling didn't happen and that the spell was heading back toward him, the Gryffindor casted a simple shield. The spell ricochetted, going Merlin knows where. A small smirk appeared on his face when Hugo looked like he was going to be sick. Soon enough, slimy slugs were slipping out of his mouth and onto the floor. Gross, man.

With there being no spells being casted at him, he took the opportunity to lighten himself up. He was beginning to feel tired from the serious duelling that was going on and needed a pick-me-up. After saying the incantation and a simple wand movement for the Feather-Light Charm, he felt extremely light, more energized even.

The prefect's gave then returned to his opponent, who was still throwing up slugs. Frankie had to give Hugo credit for holding his ground by remaining alert and keeping his wand at the ready. He almost felt sorry for the spell he was about to cast. Almost. This was a duel after all. "Rictusempra!"

Hugo kept throwing up slugs and he felt awful. AWFUL. But no sir, this Slytherin wasn't going to give up. NOPE. He had to focus but it was kind of hard since the slugs kept coming out from his mouth and it was simply disgusting. He watched Frankie, who cast a spell on himself but Hugo knew that wasn't going to be it.

And as just as he thought, Frankie casted a spell. Hugo moved to the side, just to throw up more slugs. Merlin, he was going to make sure this spell NEVER EVER hit him again. And yeah, he could have thrown a non verbal at Frankie but, HOW ON EARTH WAS HE GOING TO FOCUS WITH SLUGS INSIDE HIS MOUTH? He felt tired but was starting to less slugs were coming out which was a good sign. He casted Finite on himself so this torture could be over.

After this, Hugo was going to wash his mouth for an hour or so. He felt slimy and sick. But now, back to the duel. Hugo raised his wand pointing up to the right side of Frankie, hoping it would distracting him briefly. Maybe? And then muttered a jelly-fingers curse moving his wand at Frankie.

Frankie honestly couldn't believe just how many slugs were leaving Hugo's body. Though he was glad that his spell was super effective, he took note that he needed to save that one particular spell for those he didn't like. He and the Slytherin got along fairly well, and he hoped that the boy was going to be a good sport about this whole slug thing and wouldn't hate his guts once the duel was over.

The blond nodded his head with utmost approval when he watched the Slytherin prefect side-step his little tickling charm. But the nodding didn't last long, for his opponent threw up more of those nastily slimy slugs. His expression changed to one that showed bit of guilt, which would easily be translated as 'sorry, bro!'

But his head was back in the game the moment Hugo casted the counter-spell that made him stop puking slugs. His wand was at the ready, and he expected the boy to not be merciful after all those minutes of throwing up. The initial wand movement was a bit odd to him, which threw him off for about a few seconds before he realized that it was meant to be a ploy. Nonetheless, he was still able to produce an invisible shield that sent they boy's curse elsewhere.

Pointing his wand at his opponent's feet, Frankie moved his wand in a rectangular-like motion and shouted, "Colloshoo!" But, unfortunately for the Slytherin, that wasn't the only spell he decided to cast. Following a swirly movement with his target set on his hand, a quick "Expelliarmus" was said and a scarlet light left the tip of his wand.

While the man was meant to remain neutral, he couldn't help but hold high expectations of both of the participants of this duel. Duelling came naturally to Frankie, as did Defence, but Mr Foster wasn't exactly one to take spells lying down either. The Slytherin was going to put the Gryffindor through his paces, whether the latter liked it or not and it was because of this that he'd paired the two up.

And because it would be interesting for him to watch.

Maybe it was a good thing that he was standing in the shadows because if either of them had seen his face, they would've seen their Defence Professor looking thoroughly excited, as if they had announced that they were going to do a rerun of Indiana Jones. It was too much: the spells flying, the careful agility and the pace in which they were casting their spells.

Pity the slugs had to ruin the picture.

And before long, it was time up. With a small sigh, the man struck up the magical barrier, stopping Mr Foster from having his shoes glued to the floor and from being knocked back. You're welcome, Hugo. Emerging from his usual spot, Hirsch tried - and failed - to hide how pleased he was as he approached the two Prefects. "That was excellent! Truly. I'm pleased." Enough said. "You've put up a great fight, Hugo, but Frankie, you have taken the title for this round. Congratulations!"

Hugo Foster: 76.76%
Franklin Paton: 80%
