Its the first night of term and the common room has been decorated for a party. Not just any party though, its a "Welcome" party for all new and returning Slytherin students. The theme is Slytherin pride of course, so the decorations are green and silver. Plenty of balloons and snake-y streamers are hanging all around. A large banner hangs on the wall with the words 'Welcome to Slytherin' in large, ornate letters.
Music is playing loud enough to be festive but moderately enough that conversation can still be heard over it. There is plenty of food that is themed and/or shaped like snakes or colored Slytherin green. Is that silver frosting on that cake?
This first thing that catches your eye when you enter isn't the food though, it's the huge ball-pit across the room. You'll find no balls in this pit though as this is a pit filled with rubber snakes that have been charmed to look like the real thing. If you look close enough you might even see one moving. Oh wait, is that a real snake in there? Are you brave enough to go in and find out?
Whether you choose to play in the pit, or just socialize with your friends, be sure to have some food. No doubt most of you are hungry after that fiasco at the feast.
Most important, be sure to have some fun, and NO FOOD FIGHTS! Oh, and do make sure you're wearing your house colors! This is a Slytherin pride party after all. Whatever you do, don't make Healer Murdoch regret having this party for you.
OOC: All other common room threads are locked at this time. You can RP that your student went to their dorm room and got cleaned up and changed after the feast. You just won't be able to post them actually doing this. This thread will remain open for at least 3 or 4 days, possibly more depending on how much fun all of you are having. The other common room threads will be opened up for play wthin the week.

After the events at the Great Hall, the Groundskeeper went on ahead to get the final touches done for festivities. While the Healer and Ghost were handling the table someone had to be here to make sure things stayed the same as the way it was left on arrival.
So there we have it, the party all set up just as planned. It was never too late for some extra Slytherin Pride, showing who was the real boss around here. Justin casually sat by the food and other displays on the table. No food fights with him around this time as he awaited the students to make their way in.

When Olly walked into the common room, he certainly had not been expecting a part. But as soon as he saw there was one, he was not able to contain his excitement. He dashed over to where the festivities were taking place. Look at all those streamers! And the ball pit, uh were those real snakes? He eyed them warily before turning away and grinning at the rest of the party. Wow, snacks too. He supposed they would be welcome to most of the students after the rain in the Great Hall had ruined most of the food at the feast. Olly had eaten mostly dry food under the table, so he was alright, but that didn't mean he wouldn't go for some snacks. After he got cleaned up of course.
He sprinted up to his dormitory to change and get cleaned up, as well as claim a bed and throw his stuff on it of course. But he definitely was not going to unpack that night. He went back down to the common room as soon as he was ready so he could enjoy a part. At the snack table, Olly selected a long, gummy snake. It looked like many other Slytherins had the same idea, they must have been getting changed before coming down to party. Olly had just changed fast. There weren't many people ready to party yet. He grinned at the groundskeeper, who had apparently come to party with them.

Dot stowed her luggage and kneazle quickly before popping back downstairs to look at the food. That's what she did. She looked at it. And then she walked away, because there were other things to look at as well.
Like little Olly, practically beside himself with glee at being first to the party.
And Mr. McLeod, who didn't know about the drama at the feast. She'd fill him in, because knowledge was power, and the first to spin the story set the parameters for how it was told. "G'night, sir. Did you get any of that fancy feast up in the Great Hall? It looks so shiny and festive in here." Dot wrapped a silver streamer around her head as a headband; now she was festive too. "Gryffindors started a food fight. They're brutes."
Hugo was clean now and it seemed that whatever Dante had to tell him will have to wait 'cause they were having a partyyy. And food. Especially food 'cause he barely ate something at the feast after all the madness that was going on. The only thing he couldn't fix was his red hair. Thank you, Dot. He looked at himself in the mirror. He still looked good, obviously, BUT wasn't used to be a ginger. He was going to keep it for now 'cause he needed to ask a professor the counter curse. Hugo ran his fingers through his hair. Oh well, his appetite was more important.
The fifth year went down to the common room to see a ball-pit full of fake snakes. That was so cool! Or was this some kind of punishment for the food fight? He was sure he was immune because he was a prefect. Ehem. Hugo saw the groundskeeper, "Those are fake, right?"
There were two other people in the room. Dot and a boy. He still wondered what was her purpose behind his change of hair color. "We look like brother and sister" except for the freckles. And said hello to the boy, "What's up? Oliver, right?" he wasn't good with names. Sometimes.
Running a hand through her hair to fix it as she walked into the Common Room, Maggie grinned at all the decorations. Was this a party? Yes? It looked AWESOME! Should she go change out of her robes maybe? Put on something a little more festive? A little more Slytherin Pride-y? A green dress maybe? A tiara? Preferably both?
Hmm.
The Groundskeeper got a smile, as did the other people who had arrived before her, while she made her way over towards the dorms. Oliver....Dot....Hugo....wait? Maggie stopped as her eyes fell on the fellow FIFTH year and she gave him a surprised look. "What is UP with your hair?" All thoughts of changing forgotten (for now), she quickly walked over to Hugo, all the while eying his hair.
"Is this an actual fashion choice or...?" Had someone pranked him? Where was Dante?
Ilia really only took the time to make sure that her things were in order before coming back downstairs to the common room. Her robes were tossed onto her bed so that she was just wearing her outfit underneath and her owl was settled in.
Walking back down, she took in the view of the party. It oozed house pride and gave her a small smile. Part of why she liked being a Slytherin was the fact that she loved snakes. All of the snake themed food was fun, although after everything and cleaning so much food she wasn't sure that she actually wanted to eat any of it. Plus.....after the groundskeeper marched her and her boys off to the headmasters office last year, she felt awkward approaching him. She had never disliked him before, and she still didn't now, but....she didn't want to think about it or the fact that half of their quartet up and graduated.
So, off to the 'ball' pit it was. The sixteen year old stopped before it and removed her green, black, and silver accented heels to set them aside. High heels were not okay in a ball pit, especially because she almost thought she might have seen something moving in there. It might just be a trick of her imagination, it might be a rubber snake.....or maybe.....the maybe was what she was interested in. She gently slid herself down into the ball pit, careful where she placed her feet just in case there WAS something moving in here. She wouldn't want to step on it and hurt it.

After all that had happened down in the Great Hall all this fifth year cared about was getting up to her dorm and cleaned up. She had taken notice to everything instantly as it would've been way to hard to miss however she quietly bypassed it all in opting to get herself changed and such first. Upon entering her dorm she selected her bed and made sure her trunk and all her things had made it up alright (it had), she also checked on Hagan making sure he was alright. Setting her Batman Bear down on her bed she went and cleaned up and changed into something fit for the party down in the pit.
Hady finally made her way back down shortly later her eyes taking in everything much better this time. From all the different foods, to the streamers and of course that ball pit! Or um snake pit? Wicked!
"Evening Sir," she greeted warmly smiling at their house mod. Oh! Everyone else got a 'hello', wave or a simple nod in greeting as well. Where exactly was she supposed to start? Food or snake pit? Food...or...snake...pit...
Choices were tough right now. She was hungry from having not eaten but she was also interested in checking out those snakes in the pit. Where they really epic fake ones or actual ones? Probably fake but could she keep one anyhow? Slowly she ended up wandering closer to get a better look.

The entire food-fiasco during the feast had somehow managed to miss Altha. She strode down the the dungeons, following behind a pair of Slytherin's from afar and examining her still-clean robes as she did so. Once it looked like the two Slytherin's were nearing the Common Room entrance, Altha quickened her pace and slid into the Common Room.
A sly grin crept across Altha's small face slowly as she took in the Common Room's decor. Brilliant snakes and streamers hung all over, and platters of food were lined around the room. The music filled Altha's ears that were hidden behind her black her pleasantly, and before she had realized it, she'd begun slowly pacing around the room.
She was stroking one of the snakes hanging above her when a pit - much like the ball pit she'd seen - formed in her stomach. Everyone... Everyone was wearing green and silver. And of course they were, this was a Slytherin party. Altha walked quickly, still trying to retain her usual calmness, up to the dormitory in hopes to find her trunk.
Digging through the trunk, Altha searched desperately for anything green, but all she found was a scarlet and gold tie one of her family member's had presumably slipped in to surprise her with. Instead of making the pit in her stomach grow, Altha dropped the trunk's lid shut in frustration. Now she paced the room, until finally, she came up with an idea.
Striding back into the party, she grabbed a snake that hung, and pulled it around her neck so that it hung like a scarf. Then she picked off a green and silver streamer, and tied it around her wrist like a cuff. It'd have to do for now. With that, she walked over to the ball pit, and stared down into it. A grin crossing over her face again, and she waited for someone to decide to jump in first.

Olly waved at Dot as she entered, then at the next boy. Oh yeah, it was the boy prefect, Hugo? The one Dot had said was handsome. That was true, red hair or not. Now the two prefects matched. Olly took a few steps closer, because the older boy had greeted him by name. He nodded, confirming that Hugo had gotten his name right. "You're Hugo? The prefect?" He gave a non-committal shrug. What's up. Uh. "Nothing, you?"
Okay, he needed to find some friends. Dot was great, of course, but he had just spent the entire feast with her. So she was probably sick of him, right? Besides, she was having a conversation with the groundskeeper. So Olly made his way toward the other partygoers. "Hey Hady." He came to stand next to the other girl near the edge of the snake pit. Soon enough they were joined by a new first year. Olly smiled at her. "Hi, I'm Oliver. Welcome to Slytherin."
Was anyone going to jump in? Someone had to be the first to do it. Olly was still unsure whether or not those snakes were real. They looked real enough. He assumed that their Head of House would not have decorated the party with anything that would be dangerous to the students. So the snakes were safe, right? That was Olly's working theory, and it was enough to make him want to jump in. But what were the other two girls going to do?
Olly linked his arms through theirs. Hady on his left and the firstie on his right. "One, two, THREE!" He yelled, and plunged into the snake pit, pulling them along with him. Hopefully.

"Hello sir!"
"Well, good evening Master Thomas-Borzekowski." Seeing as he selected from the snack area, "do eat as much as you'd like. The Foods refill themselves."

Excellent, their Prefects have come to join at last. "Evening Prefects Wojack and Foster." He greeted before mentioning of the feast. "As I've heard. I managed to get some scraps before leaving." As for the snakes in the pit he nearly smirked. "It would appear so wouldn't it?" But enough teasing, "There's nothing in there that would require Healer Murdoch's treatment." So yes, nothing to fret over.

"Evening, Miss Lynch. Care for something to eat?" While he was sure hunger was on everyone's mind it appears the curiosity from the pit was overtaking it. No matter as he quietly observed the students inching closer to the pit.
Examining every inch of the snakey ball pit, Altha had hardly noticed that she's stood in another girls vicinity, and one she hadn't met. Like many of the other Slytherins she had come across so far, Altha noted the girls obvious age difference. It felt weird to be surrounded by students so much older than her, though she felt she liked it. She'd never quite felt her age.
Before she could introduce herself, a boy had come up between them. He greeted the girl on his other side, and Altha noted that her name was Hady. Just as she'd stowed this in her memory, she learned the boys name was Oliver. Oliver welcomed Altha with a warm smile- something Altha felt she could never pull off. Oliver's demeanor was quite different than her own, at least based off their first few seconds of interaction.
"Altha, thanks," she nodded to him. His gaze had then fallen onto the ball pit, and Altha followed his lead. His mind seemed to be working out whether or not to jump in, or if the snakes were real, or something of the like, presumably. Seeing as Oliver seemed to come across as a lot more confident than any first year could possibly be, Altha decided to ask his thoughts. "D'you think they're re-"
And before she could finish the question, her arm was linked with Oliver's, and Altha felt her body sliding between various textures of the ball pit. Her free arm was to her mouth, surprising her urge to scream out of surprise. But she made no noise, and instead felt the third smile of the day creep across her face, uncharacteristicly. "I guess we'll find out ourselves now," she said with a smirk, turning towards Oliver's direction and looking around him for Hady.

Whaaaaatttt? A party! He was not expecting this after all that happened at the feast, but hey, he wasn't complaining.
Cal looked around, Dante wasn't here yet. Man, that really sucks. It was all Gryffindor's fault, anyhow. He stopped by the food table. Thankful for non-soggy food. "Hello, Groundskeeper McLeod."
The third year looked around at the decorations in the room, chewing on food, when he spotted it. "A SNAKE PIT?!" Time to go hard in the hugging pit! He kicked off his shoes and ran towards it, "GERONIMOOOO!!"

Echo was just to tired, she was full of food and pumpkin juice and all she really wanted to do was to cuddle in her bed with her pet mouse. but nope her plans were changed as soon as she walked into the common room. There was a party, great. That's all she wanted to deal with right now. Moving over to the nearest couch she slumped down and rested her head in her hand.
After dropping her things in the girl's dorm room, Jay slouched with...not necessarily a strong of a feeling as complete hatred, but with a bit of disgust, anger, and sadness. One, the sorting hat was wrong. How could she, of all people, be a Slytherin!? I mean, she could see her sister for having such a bigish ego, but her. I mean, yea, the first year had a lot of ambition to do things such as explore and learn spells, but she was intelligent!! Heck, she could even see herself being a Gryffindor because she tended to act out of anger. Though, she wasn't a hot head because she tended to be able to control how she acted. But generally, when emotions would take over, it would be anger.
Anyways, slumping down somewhere, the brunette had hoped for a quiet night, and she didn't want to start any conversations. Granted, if someone came up to her, she would talk to them. But Jay was in no mood for starting a conversation with people...tonight at least.

Running extremely late, Alex bashfully walks into the common room, only to find he is one of the last to arrive. Like Echo, he was tired and the last thing on his mind was a party.
Having missed the feast so widely discussed the night before and not being one to entirely retreat he began looking around the room, seeing the smiling faces and embracing the overall feeling of warmth and joy. Alex threw himself into the mix greeting everyone and attempting to make friends.
Before begining the term Alex was involved in an accident, which he, for the life of him, cannot remember the details of. The results of which have made his memory shaky and although a 5th year (having amounted over 4 years of past term knowledge) he seems to be none the wiser as to whom everyone is.
Initially reaching out to Echo "Hey" and offering his hand in gesture he began engaging...

She was here! She'd made it into the place she'd thought about for years and years! She'd been so afraid she wouldn't make it into Slytherin and see the place she'd heard so many stories about, but LOOK---HERE SHE WAS! She'd cleaned up and changed in record speed and then made her way back into the common room. At first glance, she saw there was FOOD, which was awesome, because she was pretty hungry after missing her dinner. That chocolate frog she'd eaten on the train seemed days and days ago.
Then there was the ball pit, which looked equally exciting and terrifying at the same time. She knew the snakes weren't real (or were they?), but they looked real, so that was pretty much the same thing. She MIGHT try the ball pit later. MIGHT. And where was Healer Tillstorm? Ariadne STILL hadn't spoken to the woman.
Mmkay. So where were all the brand new friends she was supposed to be making? Hopefully she'd have better luck here at the party than she did in the Great Hall.

awesome, atleast someone else was having the same kind of night she was having, the kid looked familiar but she couldn't place his name. Adjusting her robes she took her head away from her hand. "hi" she said while seeing him sit down next to her.
"yourrr......." she didn't want to be rude but she hoped that he would help her out and give her his name. Echo thought it started with an "A" but she couldn't be sure of it. he kind of felt oddly comfortable with him though.
taking a chocolate frog from her lap she opened it and started to eat it. "would you like one, I don't feel like having this party. I kind of just want to sleep and get ready for the year" she blabbed on eyeing the people who seemed to be having a good time.

You know what, screw it. Jay was actually going to be social and talk to people. She might as well live in the moment of a party. Even though parties weren't normally her thing. Unlike her twin, the social butterfly, Jay wasn't necessarily shy, but she wasn't all that social either. Like normally if you'd come up to her and strike up a conversation, the brunette would laugh and smile and listen and talk and all that jazz, but normally she didn't really actually start a conversation unless it was with one of her close friends.
Tonight, was going to be different though.
For once, Jay was actually going to try and make conversations with people.
So sneaking her way over to another girl (Ariadne), Jay said with a warm and welcoming grin "Hello, what's your name? I'm Jay." Piercing blue eyes, like an ice covered ground lit up at the fellow Slytherin.

Hmm...well, finding their Head of House seemed like a no-go. Ariadne had scanned the small crowd of Slytherins and so far had only seen one adult--a man she had yet to meet. Ariadne figured the Healer was off helping someone. After all, a least one person had fainted at the feast and then there'd been the food fight.
So she'd just have to find somebody to talk to OR...there was always that ball pit. She still wasn't sure of it, though. Was anybody else even in it? Finding somebody to talk to seemed like the best option right now. Slytherins, though, were hard people to make friends with, Ariadne had gathered. Literally JUST when that thought let her mind, another girl who seemed Ariadne's age walked right up to her. Well, what do you know! Making friends suddenly seemed a lot easier!
"Hey! I'm Ariadne Greingoth," she said. "I'm a first year." She narrowed her eyes a little as she made a quick assessment of the girl before her. "Are you new here, too?" Ariadne wouldn't know since this was the first time she'd ever seen the girl. She DID know that she was getting really hungry by this point. Maybe she'd edge her way over to the food soon.

"Alexander" he pronounced formally "but you can call me Alex". Attentively noticing that she was tired, Alex smiled at Echo and gracefully accepted the chocolate frog. "These are amazing. Th...*mumbles while eating*...anks. I can see you're a little restless and I do hate to be rude so will say goodnight for now".
Alex arose from his seat and smiled once more at Echo "Goodnight Echo" he said. "I owe ya one. Chocolate frogs are my favourite. Hopefully see you later". He corrected his robe and waved politely goodbye before turning around.

As Alex turns around he catches in his peripheral vision a First Year, Wide eyed and bushy tailed, staring towards the ball pit.
"I'd love to tell you the snakes aren't real but uh well...I can't be sure my self". He looks towards the pit. "Also..." He smiles "Welcome".
"There is plenty to eat and drink it seems" Alex points towards a table in the corner. The table was lavished with all sorts of mouth watering goodies. "I have not long arrived myself" He proclaims. "Oh" He suddenly remembers. "I'm Alexander, and what might your name be?".

Sometimes.
Dot turned from where she was trying to regale Mr. McLeod with gossip, and being pretty soundly dismissed for her trouble. Hugo really did look like her brother, although he wasn't freckled and didn't have the round blue eyes and coltish awkwardness that Dot pulled off so well. "We do! Although I think I do ginger better than you. You don't have the coloring for it."
And because they were safe from the hag, Dot tapped his head with her wand and made him blond again. "Sorry 'bout that. It was dumb." And a little mean of her. If the hag was right, then pinning death and destruction on someone else was a lousy trick. "At least we know the charm works. I was thinking of showing up for class with purple hair on Monday."

First years. Dot watched this particular one, recognizing her from the feast that had gone so very astray. She stepped out of the girl's path, although it wasn't clear where the ickle was trying to be at the moment. At least she wasn't covered with food this time. Or cowering in a corner.
"You're the one who hid under the table, right? It's pretty nice down there, isn't it? I've hidden under that table myself."
It was interesting, the sensation of all the snakes around her. She had never really had the joy of jumping into a ball pit so she had no basis for comparison, but she probably liked the snakes more. It felt almost like being hugged by lots of cute little slithersnugglers in her opinion. So long as they weren't venomous and she didn't accidentally squish one, she was okay with there being some real ones in here too. Although she presumed that it was just very well done spellwork.
She didn't have long admiring to herself before the baby snakelets started flopping in too. Ger ron and mo? Say what? Whoa was that a third year (Cal)? Ilia's bad mood began to shift and she giggled even though she almost got landed on by younger snakes. Her own fault for being a big kid in a 'ball' pit she supposed.
McLeod, Oliver & Altha! (Anyone is free to join them!)

SPOILER!!: Mr. McLeod
"Evening, Miss Lynch. Care for something to eat?" While he was sure hunger was on everyone's mind it appears the curiosity from the pit was overtaking it. No matter as he quietly observed the students inching closer to the pit.
Hady grinned just a little bit more at the older man. "I'm actually quite hungry yes but I think there's a need to check out this snake pit thing first," she gave a small laugh. It wasn't so much a need really but more of something she wanted to do. Balls pits were just loads of fun no matter what age you are and this was even better being it had snakes in it!
Hazel eyes were no doubt scanning the snake pit for another moving about. Those snakes looked incredibly real and if one or two of them were moving about she wouldn't want to smush them! Her focus was diverted away for a moment when she was joined by a younger snake at her side. Oliver. "Hey Olly, how are you?" Typical start of a conversation question really. She glanced at him and then to the other side of him when she noticed one of the new firsties there (Altha). Honestly she hadn't caught the girls name at the feast but she knew she would soon enough.
"I'm Hady welcome to the best house," she offered a small smirk and a playful wink. They were the best house though no doubt about it. Ah Altha was the girls name. She'd have to remember that one. Before the girl got a chance to say another she felt her arm being taken by Oliver earning the second year boy a curious look from her. What wa-
There was no time to brace herself or even scream. One moment she was talking to her fellow house mates and the next she found herself being pulled down into the snake pit. Rather then get angry or upset at the kid Hady simply laughed as she pushed herself upwards through the rubber snakes laughing quietly. Picking up two snakes she gently tossed it at Oliver with a small grin, the other snake she draped around her neck. It reminded her of her snake back home only much smaller and much more lightly. Now ere was their Head of House she wanted to ask her something...

Well this definitely improved Rula's night a little bit. The feast had been ruined by a food fight and rain, but at least there was this party that looked kinda fun. She went up to her dorm room to dry/clean herself off quickly before returning back down to the common room.
She was almost torn between what to try first, but her stomach grumbled in that moment and decided for her. Yep, definitely needed to get some food first. She walked over to the food table, looking over the selection.
