This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
OOC: This duel must be completed by the 26th of March by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.

EEEEEEEEEE.
Today officially marked Liv's THIRD tournament duel...and one could say her excitement for the whole institution had decreased dramatically. After that last one against her cousin, she'd fell into sore!loserdom. DRAMATIC SORE!LOSERDOM. We're talking a sugar binge a mile long, and pouts that lasted for hours. The Gryffindor had long since discovered that she did NOT like to lose to anyone, but it seemed loads worse given it was to her stoooopid cousin. Okay, Katty wasn't really stoopid, BUT LIV WAS SOUR. The epitome of a sour patch kid. SHE'D HAD THAT DUEL IN THE BAG. IF ONLY SHE'D DEFLECTED THAT LAST SPELL. BLAST. BLAST BLAST.
So, she'd been practicing. Oh, yas, she HAD! Whenever she could, one could find the smol blonde reading some boring spell book or another, or waving her wand around in the hopes of perfecting a new spell. This wasn't going THAT great, let's be honest. Her lack of concentration was a real issue...BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING TO BE SAID ABOUT GRYFFINDOR DETERMINATION. Let us tell YOU something. Miss Olivia Lynn was enacting REVENGE TODAY...because if she quit, her mum would be super disappointed in her...because there was nothing worse than a quitter. Her mum's words. Not hers.
So, here she was, purposefully striding into the dueling ring, her uniform in fully place, with GLITTERY ADDITIONS. Her sparkly, BEAUTIFUL glitter was meant to give her STRENGTH TODAY. That's what it was there for, yes. She was also promising herself to PAY BETTER ATTENTION. Man, she did NOT want to lose again. Yes, it was all for fun, but losing didn't feel great, okay? It felt icky and gross. Liv didn't want to feel either icky or gross again. So...formally bowing like they were forced to in duels.....Olivia started with the the spell Char had taught her. The Feather-light charm. She was probably best at this spell given how often her friend had practiced it with her.
....and not to be TOO vengeful....
BUT THAT DUMB SPELL KATTY HAD TRIED AGAINST HER....THE GLUE-TO-THE-FLOOR ONE?!??! OH, YES, IT WAS COMING YOUR WAY, SMOL SLYTHERIN....because she'd been practicing it....A LOT. MORE THAN A LOT. EVERYDAY, MORE LIKE.
...but hai, yes, hai.

For all the purpose Olivia had as she came into the area set aside for their duel, Jaemin had none. The small boy had exactly zero excitement this time. None. Zilch. Nada. Before the duel began, he even kept sending furtive glances at the door, because... he did not want to be here. After the last duel had gone so badly, at least in his opinion, he just... didn't want to do it anymore. At all. Why keep doing something at which he was awful? Why bother with dueling when his first duel was so obviously a fluke, because he hadn't even managed to land a single hit during his second despite trying so hard?
He didn't want to do this again. He wanted to skip it entirely and just... not. But this was supposed to be the last one, and he was sure Hirsch would be disappointed in him if he tried to back out. Disappointing coaches by quitting Muggle sports was one thing, but disappointing a professor was another entirely. So he'd shown up, wand clenched in his fist, and he'd bowed to the girl named Olivia, and he'd braced himself for what was to come.
Even with being so utterly dejected over losing his last duel, Jaemin had still made a point of practicing certain spells. His shield charm still needed some work; he couldn't control it well enough to continuously send spells back at the caster, like Cornelius had done to him in the last duel, but it worked well enough to negate the Colloshoo sent his way. One call of "Protego" and the spell fizzled out before reaching him.
Since she was already lighter, it couldn't hurt to try and use that against her. Frowning a little, the small Slytherin brandished his wand and called out "Ventus!", sending a strong wind in the Gryffindor's direction. Fly away, little Gryffindor. Fly away~

To be honest, no matter how many books she'd read or how many duels she'd sat in on, Olivia was still a complete failure at identifying spells and what they did just by their name. Well, some spells. Others, she'd looked at so often that they were sorta ingrained in her brain at this point. However, the gist of this was that....Ventus....Olivia had NO idea what it did when her opponent had shouted it...but she'd dived to the floor, anyway, flashbacks of Tarantallegra dancing through her head. NO. NOT AGAIN. Of course, when the strong gust of air started a-blowing, her face flushed JUUUUST a little. Heh, oh, that would've been safe had it hit her. Safe = not painful afterwards.
Man, she'd been forced to ice her legs after that last duel, and because of some bruising and having "to be careful" she'd not been able to dance for days. SHE AND ROONEY WERE TRYING TO DO CINDERELLA. She couldn't COMPROMISE HER LEGS. STOOOPID KATTY.
Quickly bouncing to her feet again, glitter shaking loose and falling from her uniform with the force of her feet hitting the floor....she tried to think of another spell to use. Smol blonde meant what she'd said about paying more attention this duel....but there was just so many spells. Not many she could actually perform but...you know, it was a lot to think about...and eh....OH, OH, OH, OOOOOH. OOOOOH.
SLUGS. YES. HAHA, Liv had been keen on learning this one because it was hilarious in theory and....could you imagine? Someone puking up slugs?! Okay, obviously, that could be seen as mean and kinda cruel...but the mental image was just so funny. So, yep...that had been added to her....er, meager arsenal.
Shouting the incantation, she focused super duper hard on getting it just right. Incantation, wand movement....The visual was super present in her brain, too....and hilarious, again....
Er, sorry, smol Slytherin. We're just trying to win and daddy said it was okay to be ruthless.

Oh Merlin, no. No no no. Not that spell. He'd seen enough people get hit by it and he knew for sure that he didn't want to be one of them. Jaemin ducked, flinching a bit as the spell barely cleared his head, and let out a heavy gasp, fingers clenching tighter around his wand. If that would have hit him...
He just wanted this duel over with already. The small boy made a face and swiped his wand at the girl, casting a long, wide shower of green sparks in her direction. Rather belatedly, he added a quiet "Incarcerous" behind them. Maybe one of the two would actually hit, unlike every single spell in his last duel.

....and smol Slytherin had maneuvered himself where he, again, was safe. TOUGH OPPONENT, THEN. Those Slytherins, man. Her mum had been one when she'd been at school and had told her about them, of course. Befriend Snakes, Olivia. She'd said. Her advice had probably been good...but Liv wasn't going to befriend anyone just because they were in a certain house. That was dumb. Besides, she liked the Hufflepuffs best, so far. Nicky Tate was one, and he was her absolute favorite at the moment. FOOD BUDDIES were the BEST buddies.
Ahem...and she'd gotten distracted for just a second.
Green sparks were suddenly hitting her...and while they were jolting her...which was kinda painful...she did NOT miss the ropes suddenly coming out of nowhere. WHUT?! ROPES?! WERE THOSE FREAKING ROPES!? NO, NO, NO, NO, NOOOOO. NOT TODAY, SLYTHERIN. WHATCHA DOING, BRO?! NOPE. NOOOOPE.
"PROTEGO!"
Hair standing on end from the shower of green she'd been subjected to....she shot the first thing she could think of....JELLY LEGS. GOSH.....but MERLIN'S HAIR.....Olivia began using the space, much like she did in dance and theater. A moving target was much harder to hit, right?!

Jelly-Legs Curse:Target's legs collapse as if they were made of jelly (i.e. Locomotor Wibbly)
Jaemin's eyes went wide and for a moment he faltered when the green sparks hit the first year girl. He'd actually hit her. He had done the thing he hadn't managed to do one single time in his second duel. The small Slytherin sucked in a sharp breath, trying to dispel the shock from his own body the way the spell's seemed to be making its way out through her hair.
He wasn't exactly prepared when the spell came flying at him, and his entire body had a moment of indecision when it came to defense. A shield charm would have probably been ideal, according to his brain, but his body had other ideas. The lack of coordination between thought and movement meant that Jaemin's whole body gave a rather fantastic jerk, as if he was going to dodge, but it put him off-balance and he just ended up on his back on the floor.
It was really only luck that the spell had missed him during this episode, sailing just barely over him again (though this time not by design), and while he rushed to gather himself and at least get back up to sitting, it gave the girl another extra moment to start doing... that.
Where was she going?? Jaemin blinked in surprise as she moved, shifting himself to one knee as he did his best to keep his eyes on her. She had gotten quick. How was he supposed to hit her again?!
Still not fully standing, Jaemin gave his wand a rather violent whip and shouted out the only spell he really knew for moving targets. "Carpe Retractum!" The gold-y rope came flying out, and he jerked his wand toward where she was, hoping he could maybe... possibly... just swing it into her.
Juuuuust like a flying seahorse.

For just a moment, smol blonde thought she'd actually managed to hit her target. The Slytherin had jerked rather dramatically before going down on his bum...but his legs hadn't seemed very....er, jelly!like?....What if this was a diversion tactic?!?! Not that she was really clever enough to consider tactics. That's what she had Chloe Newman for....
Either way, Olivia wasn't allowing whatever he was doing to inspire her sympathies. People fell in duels all the time, you know? She'd seen so for herself! Even Char had fallen and gotten right back up before! Besides, he obviously wasn't that hurt because he'd pushed himself up on his knee not a moment later, maneuvering his wand with mad style and flourishes........aiming more magic at her.....EEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Like seriously, she would always give kudos for flair and theatrics. WHERE COULD SHE LEARN SOME OF THAT?! See, Liv worried she wouldn't be able to actually cast anything if she tried to get too fancy shmancy with her wand. She was still learning basic spells over here, okay?!
However, she did have momentum on her side as she dodged the object being slung at her....but had to stop moving all together* to concentrate on her own spell.
Movement + Magic = failure. SMOL BLONDE WAS STILL LEARNING......Also, smol blonde was UTTERLY determined. She wanted to win this thing. Liv wasn't giving up!!!!

Stinging Hex:Causes injuries like stings, which burn and appear as red welts and inflammation
He immediately regretted having cast this spell at Haddie in the opening duel.
Jaemin hadn't had a chance to throw up his shield this time. The hex had come on the tail of his rope missing her, and while he had thrown up his left arm to protect his face... it hurt. The stinging welts went all the way up his left arm, from his hand to nearly his shoulder; the first year let out a pained yelp and pressed the arm tight against his chest, curling a bit around it.
"M-Melofors!" he managed, slashing the spell out at her with his good arm before backing up. He was lucky the spell came out as strongly as it did, because it was still pretty new to him... but the aching in his arm seemed to immediately put him into overdrive. He just wanted this over already. Merlin.

Er, was it just him or was there glitter shaking out of the first year?
Hirsch readjusted his glasses and squinted at the blonde haired girl. Yep, that was glitter, alright. Needless to say, the man was confused and had quite a few questions. For example: did the girl spread glitter on her robes everyday? Did she sprinkle glitter around the corridors? Did she have a personal ban from entering the Astronomy professor's office? Hirsch needed to know.
But not right now, because there was a duel going on.
A smile spread across the man's face as he watched the two duel it out. It was intense, to say the least, and he half wondered whether the two had a personal vendetta against each other. Or did they even know each other to begin with. Merlin, again with the questions!
As the duel came to a close, he set up that magical shield he'd done before, making the Melofors spell useless. Sorry, no pumpkin heads today. "Well done, you two, well done indeed," he said, stepping out and heading to the two, "That was some excellent spellwork from both of you. But there can only be one winner so," He took a moment to clear his throat and nudge his glasses up his nose. Dramatic effect. "Congratulations, Miss Phillips! Keep it up. And well done on putting up a good fight, Jaemin. Really."
