To say Katherine was EXCITED would be an understatement. She was DELIGHTED. She had even asked for specific directions for this class AND came here THRICE from 2 different locations: once from Ravenclaw Common Room and twice from Great Hall while keeping a timer to see how long it took her. She would probably die on the spot if she was late (sorta literally). And therefore, when she checked her watch and saw that it was time, she quickly drank the last glass of water in Great Hall and headed out... 15 minutes early, even though it would take her only 5. She wanted to be the FIRST and have a chat with the professor, okay? Okay. She halted when she was in the corridor, brought out a mirror and checked her NEATLY combed and braided hair. She'd braided it by herself so that it wouldn't get caught up while she impressed the professor with her wandwork. Mhmm. She would do that. Her clothes were CLEAN and NEAT too... now, all she had to do was putting on a smile - she did, enter the class - she promptly did, and greet the pr -

She didn't. Couldn't. Where was he? WAS THIS THE WRONG CLASSROOM!?!?!?! She walked out in panic, looked around in the corridor, searched for a sign that read 'Charms Classroom' like they had in her muggle school - but there was none. And she was... 99% sure that THIS was the classroom, but - the room which was supposed to be the classroom was empty save for some scary glass thing and she didn't know any other charms class.

Help?

"Hello, Professor - " Carl started to greet the Charms Professor as he walked into the room, but stopped when he realized that he was not present. There were no desks or seats either, so he could not help but feel a bit suspicious. Did Professor Primeaux forget that they had a lesson?

While he was panicking, he heard the door shut and a voice being played out. Carl listened to the instructions and turned as he saw more instructions appear on the board. Each student will have a task to open the cabinet in front of them using the unlocking charm, Alohomora. Wait, what? They had to perform magic already? He was really panicking now.

Without continuing on to the second paragraph, Carl approached the nearest cabinet and pulled on the handle gently. It did not open. Not that he expected it to. It was locked shut.

He took out his wand from his bag. He vaguely remembered reading about the unlocking charm in the holidays, but could not recall any details. Carl walked even closer to the cabinet, his nose almost touching the glass surface and pointed his wand at the handle. "Uh - Aloho ... Alohomora?" He whispered hesitantly. Again, nothing happened.

Better to watch the older students do it first. It never hurt to imitate better people, right?

Torrance marched to class from the great hall at his own speed. He didn't want to be the first to class, but he didn't want to be the last to class either. The young Lion stepped into class and was dumbfounded...What was...what?

Then he spotted...Oh it was the Rude girl from the Train. She looked even more confused then he did. Walking in and out of the classroom as she did.

What was Uncle Julien's game, leaving nothing in his classroom?

Torrance thought he could just toy with her. Get back at her for how she was rude on the Train. "What're you doing?" He just sorted blurted out at her.

Ilia had woken up this morning still unamused by the beginning of the term but she came in her clean and pressed uniform. Her hair was braided elaborately but neatly and fell down to the middle of her back. Alright, charm time. She entered the classroom to see it primarily empty and professorless.............she didn't read the time wrong right? No way she did. She looked around to see, no one but a baby eagle, a baby lion, and a baby badger in here before her......hmm. They were one of each color now...she sort of smiled to herself.

Still she entered and adjusted her satchel on her shoulder, a voice could be heard now. Perhaps a projection, enchantment, or record. Still, she listened carefully. To the board it was, she read carefully. Alright, the new glass cabinets lining the walls were far from just an oddly stacked décor fashion statement. Well, she wasn't sure if there were names assigned or if the cabinets were going to move at them.....this was a new professor and she'd been through a few nutty ones. Calmly, she walked to the nearest one and peered it over, she didn't see any particular indication of assigned cabinets. Looking back at the baby students, she just smiled. "Welcome to Hogwarts." And all of its insanity...... and odd professors and classes....She pulled out her wand and aimed it at an eye level cabinet to give this a shot. It would be easier for her than the firsties, maybe she could help. She smoothly and slowly performed the spell motion, in case any of them had the sense to watch her. "Alohomora." She spoke very clearly, attempting to set an example. Hear that click? This was what you did little ones.

Head Boy badge glowing with spell, Yoongi had been waiting for the first Charms lesson. Mainly because it was his favourite subject and basically the only one he was good at. Outstanding even according to his OWLs results. As he entered the classroom, he opened his mouth to greet the Professor but closed it immediately when he wasn't there. The Gryffindor frowned as he looked around and instinct told him to grab his wand. There had been many 'constant vigilance' lessons before and with the Professor not there he wondered what was going to happen.

As the last student entered the room, he jumped in fright ahem no one saw that nope when the voice of the new Charms Professor echoed through the room. So...this was a test then? As he read the instructions, Yoongi smiled. This was too easy. But he knew that the Prefects had to have another test, judging by the last part of the instructions.

While he stood in front of his own cabinet, he could easily open it up and get the box with the spells he had to use but....you know, as the Head Boy... He sighed as he turned around. "If there's anyone who needs help, just ask" he said and waited. This wasn't about who got in first was it? No, he had the feeling it wasn't... He turned to face his own cabinet again and pointed his wand at it. "Alohomora" he performed, verbally this time. He could have easily done it non-verbally but ...yeah. The cabinet flew open immediately.

First charms lesson of the term. Bentley wished he could say he was excited about it but he was tired. His grandmother had insisted that he do the read up before class method for every class so he was up late, reading notes and books on the lessons he had for the next day.

He paused when he got to the classroom door and realized that there was no professor....

Okaaaaay...not weird at all.

He continued in, book bag swinging slightly and looked around....nope...not weird...just Hogwarts....

He paused to check his bag, just to be certain that his and his cousin's wands were both there. He had promised his aunt that he'd ensure Blaise at least tried to use his wand this year and he would not be going back on his promise.

And oh...he wasn't alone....

"G'morning...." He said quietly as he made his way over to Tory.

Katherine pathetically turned to the newcomer, who turned out to be a first year like she was. Blegh, no use. But then more people came in - that awfully rude boy, Tory or WHATever. She was inclined to completely ignore him, but then he addressed her in that TONE. No one could speak to her so rudely!

"I'm being good and learning," she said as coolly and calmly as she could. This boy didn't even deserve her attention, let alone her anger. And anyway, soon more people came in, the door closed and they were given the instructions... through a recording or some sort of it. If the boy spoke to her at this moment, he might as well speak against a wall, because she would be completely motionless (including not breathing) to hear it all properly.

The blackboard revealed the instructions... and Katherine gulped. She HAD read about these charms' theories during the summer, but she had never practised them. All she did was the lifting charm in the train and very simple transfiguration in her dormitory. Although these spells sounded easy, she didn't want to blast the glass cabinets, tyvm. And she had to prove to this rude boy that she was BETTER than him, so she did the most logical thing: walked to the older girl.

Then, once she thought she had an imagine of it, she closed her eyes and literally imagined the lock going off with a click as she said the spell. She then tried to copy the wand movement - the reverse S or whatever. And at last came the correct way of pronunciation: Alohomora. Al-LOH-ha-MOR-ah. Alohomora. Al-loh-hamor-no, Al-loh-ha-mor-ah." Alohomora... right.

She took a deeeeeeeep breath, touched the cabinet with her left hand as the right hand held the wand. She visualised the lock again... "Al-LOH-ha-MOR-ah!"

Did it... click? Katherine frowned to herself. She wasn't sure, so she held onto the holder and pulled it... with more force, and TA-DAA, THERE WAS THE BOX! So what if she hadn't unlocked the lock FULLY - it still opened on her first try with a little force, didn't it? IT DID. So, she BEAMED to herself and peeked at the boy (did he see THAT?!?! She had opened it on her F I R S T E V E R try!).

This was like, easy.

CHARMS!

Hady was certainly ready this morning. Breakfast finished. Her school robes on and perfectly clean. Hair neat and tidy, pulled back off her face in a half ponytail braid. Over her shoulder hung her bag that held her quills, parchment and textbook along with a few other items. Reaching the proper room she gave the younger students standing there (Katherine and Torrance) both a smile. They were coming inside, yes?

Without further ado the fifth year Slytherin entered the room opening her mouth to greet the new Professor. Only the door snapped shut behind her and a voice rung out loud and clear around the room. The Professors? That was probably the most accurate guess and it was correct by the words she heard him say. A test hmm? Alrighty then. Lets do this thing!

Making her way towards a cabinet near a first year (Carl) she gave him a light grin in greeting. Silently watching the younger boy she shook her head and flicked her wrist her wand landing firmly in her grasp from it's holster on her wrist. "Take a small step back from the cabinet so your not so close, point your wand at the lock and say 'Alohomora' clearly and firmly. Make sure to speak with clear intent on what you want," she told him softly hoping he wouldn't mind her assistance.

Hady then pointed her own wand at the cabinet stood before her fixing it's direction on the lock. Speaking clearly and firmly, "Alohomora!" There was a soft click of the lock opening and she then lowered her wand and glanced at the younger boy. He had been watching her, yes?

Her very first lesson was a Charms lesson! Rachel was rather excited but she could always manage to keep her emotions under control or at least most of the times. She entered the room with great expectations but those expectations came crashing down when she saw the empty classroom save for some of her peers. What was going on here? Then she heard the Professor's voice giving the instructions. How lovely! A challenge of some kind.

Rachel got out her wand out as she approached a cabinet. She could do this, she could do this. She just needed to put what she had learnt at Primary school into practice. "Alohomora,'' she said confidently. Not so much of a click of the lock unlocking could be heard. "Alohomora.'' That and a few tries later and she was still failing at the task. She was not discouraged, however.

"Excuse me?'' She tried to get the attention of an older student. "Can someone please assist me?''

Chloe wandered into the Charms classroom blowing and swatting blonde wisps of hair out of her eyes. Because of the momentary distraction she was startled when she suddenly found herself in the never ending glass chamber. Or so it looked. It took her a minute to listen and get a hang for the instructions because it was a lot to take in.

She huffed and begrudgingly took out her wand. It was the beginning of term and professors were already pulling ideas out of their you-know-where's to come up with classes they thought were fun. Sometimes classes should just be classes, Chloe thought. Especially on the first day.

But as far as crazy adventure classes went Chloe decided this one was okay. It was two charms she already knew. Easy.

Turning her wand over in her hand, she approached a cabinet and took a minute to glance at her reflection. Her hair. Ugh. Then she raised her wand and said confidently, "Alohamora."

CLICK.

Awwwwwwwww! Did the grumpy baby eagle that was way too attached to her boy friend need help? Good....She smirked a little, far too pleased by this. Seriously, why be so annoyed with a firstie? It really was beneath the sixteen year old but....yet....it was just really pleasing that she failed on the first shot. Her snakelike tendency was cropping up again and she could feel her fangs. Still, she wasn't going to laugh at the child or be mean to her or anything foolish like that. She turned over to her with a smile and watched. "Your form is off little one." Pay close attention child, she wasn't one who liked to repeat herself......Slowly and gracefully she performed the motion without the spell. "Feel it. Don't ask the cabinet to open, tell it to. Know that it will open because you said so and feel it." Yes.....she had sucked it up and gave the girl advice. She tried to be tolerant of people her boy liked, even if she had no idea why. "Once more, with feeling little eagle."

New Professor's always bugged him, partly because he'd worked hard enough for the previous ones to set a reputation for himself - which was now wasted, but also because with new Professor's there cam surprises and new expectations.

Apparently the expectations here were high.

After standing in the near-empty room for his peers (and Professor) to arrive, Zeke appeared vaguely impressed. A test. A challenge. And one that he would (hopefully) rise to meet. Of course, he liked to think he had a natural ability for charms work, so this ought to be a slice of cake.

Not wanting to waste any time, Zeke adjusted the strap of his satchel as it sat on his back and produced his wand. Selecting one of the cabinets nearest to him he performed, "Alohamora." With the cabinet unlocking, Zeke opened it and pulled out the small box from within.

Neat.

Yeah sure...learning. "You look completely lost to me." he crossed his arms and frowned at her. How could he not give her attitude when she was giving it right back at him. You know what, no. He wasn't even going to try and trick her. Maybe she'll just leave again and then get locked out of the classroom once it starts. Serves her right.

Then he squeaked just a bit in surprise when he heard his Uncle's voice. He turned with a slight jump. "I WASN'T BEING RUDE I SWE..." Huh!? What? Torrance turned once more and saw that instructions had suddenly appeared on the blackboard. Open a Glass Cabinet with a spell. Alohomora... then they had to lock it again.

First Spell ever, unlocking stuff, followed by his second spell...locking stuff. He could live with that, though he'd really just rather learn how to create a Storm like his head of House Flamsteed.

Let's see if he can try it out on his own first. He peered over at the Evil Girl Kate who was already at it and getting right the first time. Hell no was he going to be shown up by her. He stepped in front of a Glass cabinet and unholstered his wand from his Wrist-Holster (Wildcard Cowboy Style).

Pointing his wand at the Cabinet he attempted to imitate what he heard his now apparently Rival and Enemy speak. How was she doing it all? "AlLOHhaMORah!" He pointed his wand, but nothing! "No!" he exclaimed. He frowned at his wand. Had he missed something!? What did he forget. He grumbled to himself things that Uncle Julien would apprehend him for and probably take 5 points off for each word he spoke. "Ineedhelp" Tory mumbled.

Henric paused and looked around the room. Did he stepped into the wrong classroom again? He blinked in confusion for a moment. Nope...nope...this was definitely charms class. "Umm...helluu-WOAH!" Henric's heart almost jumped out of his chest when suddenly the room door shut close by itself! AAHRHH! WHAT TH-! THEY'RE TRAPPED??!!

His protective prefect instinct kicked in,"HEY WHAT'S GOING ON-?!" he started to yell but stopped. EH?..Wait. He recognised that voice! Professor Primeaux?! He listened carefully until the end. Ohh...so this was like a test? Thank goodness. Henric was about to break open that door, y'know. He calmed himself down a little before proceeding to one of the many glass cabinet available in this room. Oh, and there was his llia already starting with the charm spells! She was so quick to know what spell to use too! Heheh...as expected of his smart and beautiful girlfriend. "What's inside,llia?" He asked her as soon as he reached her side. Hmm...maybe he should do the same too.

He pointed with his wand and muttered the spell clearly. "Alohomora." A click was heard. He opened it and reached in to grab whatever was inside. Huh? Another box?

Who's attention should she attract but Henric's utterly and completely rude girlfriend. Rachel frowned at the smirk the girl was making no attempt to hide even if it were a small one. "It seems you enjoy seeing a first year struggle with this or perhaps this is the only case with me.'' Her tone was significantly less warmer and for the umpteenth time she wonder why Henric was dating this girl.

But Ilia was willing to help and Rachel would accept it since she cared more about her work. "You mean give it a command? I think I can manage that.'' She could manage that. "Does saying incantations in a commanding tone always help?" She would try this out for herself right now. She replayed Ilia's demonstration in her head and tried again.

"Alohomora.'' She used her confidence and tried to feel the charm as best as she could. There was a click indicating the lock had given away. "I did it!'' Rachel was ecstatic and even wanted to hug Ilia but refrained. The mean girl did not deserve that but she did deserve a... "Thank you, Ilia. I shall remember your tip when doing all spell work.''

Isabella was finishing up a piece of toast she had got from the Great Hall, as she made her to her first class ever. She was so excited that she took more than two wrong turns trying to get here, but she finally found the right room with a little help along the way. When she entered the last thing she was expecting was for the room to be empty. Why was it empty? Where was the desk, chairs, and all other object to help them learn?

There was obviously a reason why the room was empty and sure enough an explanation was written on a board. So this was some kind of challenge. She was always up for a good challenge, but she was a little hesitant to trying out her first spell EVER.

Oh man! Oh man! Oh man! What if it doesn't work.

Bella pulled out her wands and gripped it a little too tight as she nervously approached the cabinet.

"A...a....alohamora!" she said, pointing her wand at the cabinet. She forgot to give it a wave.

Nothing.

"Alohamora!" She tried again, but this time she waved it a little.

Nothing, still no click.

"What am I doing wrong?" She looked down sadly, trying to figure it out. Should she ask for help? She probably looked pathetic unable to do such a simple spell.

Kaylee was so excited to start her first class! She heard that Charms was a fun class so she was happy that it was her first class here at Hogwarts.

"Hello Prof-" She trailed off when she realized that Professor Primeaux wasn't there. 'Huh? Where could he be?' She was puzzled. All of sudden a voice echoed through out the classroom. Kay was so startled she gave a little yelp. She blushed and hoped no one noticed. She calmed down when she realized it was must of been Professor Primeaux's voice. She paled when she heard "Test". "A test?!? But.... I haven't learn anything yet!

She then noticed the words that appeared on the board. 'Alohomora'? 'I can do that!' Kaylee had watched her parents and her sister, Michelle, do that all the time back home.

The curly haired girl pulled out her wand and walked to an empty glass cabinet. "Alohomora!" she said waving her wand at the cabinet..... nothing happened. She tried a few more times and failed each time. 'What am I doing wrong?' She glanced around her trying to find an older student that could possibly help "Can someone please help me?" she asked quietly

Ryland would have been lying if she pretended she was not at least a little bit excited for this class. Not only because it was the first lesson of the term, and her first magical lesson ever, but because everything seemed to be looking up after last night's feast. She was cleaned off, she had a nice breakfast this morning, and the eleven year old was ready to learn. Well, in reality, she was ready to learn anything besides elementary algebra. That lesson and test was brutal, and marked the only time she ever got a C on a quiz. Mom was less than happy about it.

Looking around at her surroundings, the first year noticed that there were a bunch of glass cabinets lining the walls, and immediately wondered why. Storage issues? Interior design flaw? Did they transport things? Sizing them up, she noticed that they were about the size of her students and her and her blue eyes went wide before she took a deep inhale and exhale to calm down. Were they shoving the students in there? Were they transporting the students? Were were they transporting them too? And was it a good place to go or a not good place to go? This was like one of those horror movies she would watch really late at night when everyone else in her house was asleep and then she had to spend the next morning pretending she wasn't scared at a tiny little crawling hand or something.

A voice filled the room and directions suddenly appeared on the board, telling her her fate for this lesson. They were having a test, without learning anything? That was crazy! That was unheard of! That was....... awesome! Sure, Ryland would be the first to admit she didn't know a thing she was doing. She wasn't even sure how to pronounce the two charms on the board! However, the cabinets were not being used to shove people inside, which was good, and the task at hand seemed fun. It sure as heck beat sitting in a classroom and reading a passage for comprehension.

Pulling out her wand, Ryland opted to watch the other students do the charm first, considering she had no idea what even to do or how even to pronounce it. Holding her wand in her hand, she watched as other students waved their wand and said the charm. Okay, that was all she had to do. Wave the wand. Thank goodness it wasn't a ridiculously hard motion. That was too many steps for her, the brunette wasn't that athletic to begin with and anything harder than a z formation might result in serious injuries to her self. Don't ask how it was possible, it was the thing that got her out of playing hockey in third grade when all of the other kids were signing up. She could figure out the motions for tennis, and that was basically it. It was like how dancers couldn't throw themselves off a diving board and have an Olympic splash, she couldn't do too many hand motions not related to tennis or gesturing.

"Alohamora?" It came out more as a question as she approached her cabinet and waited. As suspected, nothing happened. Clearing her throat, Ryland tried again. "Alohamora." Still nothing. What was she doing wrong here?

The problem with tests, assessments and really ANY kind of challenge... was that he was lost in his own little world. So unless someone was going to poke him, they no longer existed at the present time. It was him and the box, people, him and the box.

He inspected the box quickly, looking over it's sides, but then moved to secure the cabinet door from which it came. "Colloportus," he cast at it, content with the soft clicking sound it made to indicate it was locked. He tested it with his hand, just in case... but was quick to move on after he was successful.

Somehow though, it was no longer just him and his box, there were others in the room... and there was too much voice... and pleas for help. Sigh.

Simples, right? "Also make sure your intention is clear, visualise in your mind what you want to happen.... then, point and try again."

First charms class in this term... with the new Professor.

Okay, she could do this. Sure that Professor Baxter's leaving was unexpected because that woman was such an excellent professor. But well, maybe this man would be as awesome as her too? Let's see.

As Ava headed to the classroom, she noticed that so many people stood outside the class... Huh, what happened? Then she heard a voice coming from nowhere... Oh, there's an instruction to enter this class. A small test? Merlin's beard, of course she hadn't practiced any spell for the entire summer (like they could do that because they couldn't do magic outside Hogwarts.) Okay, let's do this. "Alohomora!" The young lioness pointed her wand. First try: FAIL.

Okay, maybe she needed to try it once again.

"Alohomora!" Again she pointed her wand and now she did hear a click and now the cabinet was unlocked. Yay!!! She opened the cabinet and then pulled out a small box.

He didn't want to be here.

Everything from his expression to the way he dragged his feet and the sullen look on his face said he CLEARLY didn't want to be here but after that food fight...he didn't want to give Airey ANOTHER reason to write him off--yet. Very much yet. This class would determine whether he came back for months or not.

So far, he wasn't impressed. The bloody jerk of a Professor left them on their own to do magic. Blaise took pause at the man's words, not bothering to find out the direction it was coming from. Stupid magic. Open the stupid cabinet. Open the stupid box. Get into the next room. Well what if he didn't WANT to go into the next room. Quite resigned against this whole thing, he walked over to his cousin. "D'you know how to open these?"

The morning hadn't started out as irritable as Altha was now, standing in the open Charms classroom, facing walls of locked cabinets. Altha had woken up before the sun was up, and had had a warm breakfast in the dimly lit Great Hall before most students were up. Charms was a class she'd been looking forward to a few minutes ago. The wand she'd received was good for DADA and jinxes and hexes and things of the like, so Altha had seen herself excelling in the Charms room today.
