Default Staff Table

Click me! for a bigger image. Want to know more? Check out Hogwarts A History!

The Hogwarts staff are already seated when you enter the feast. Their traditional place is at a long table on a raised dais at the back of the Great Hall, with the usual Hogwarts crest hanging behind them and looking particularly nice tonight.

Feel free to come up and give your greetings to the School staff after the Headmaster has given his traditional speech. Remember your manners, children. Your professors like to have a quiet dinner too.

She had come early and stopped at the door looking at the empty tables. The beautiful hall all decorated and ready for the end of term feast. Looking down at her purse she smiled at the two cats resting nicely looking up at her with yellow bows. Her green eyes fell on the tables again as she walked slowly towards the staff table. This was going to be a very bitter sweet night, but she was going to keep her smile on her face and enjoy the company of everyone.

Setting the purse on the floor, Cassie pulled out her seat and sat down. Looking around she hummed quietly to herself. A little quiet song she had been humming for the last few weeks. Checking her watch she figured she wouldn't be alone for long, but for not she was going to lean her head back on her chair and close her eyes letting her mind go with her thoughts.

There were any number of reasons he could have called in sick from the feast. Any number of excuses from getting burried under paperwork (literally so) to coming down with the not-so-common-common-cold. As it was, he had forced himself to this, not enjoying the twist in his gut and the nervous need to just bolt. Aurors were good at facing Dark Wizards, not at saying goodbyes. He was terrible at those.

Didn't help either, when one of the first and only people he saw at the head table, was Morgan. A slow breath left him as he made his way over to his neighbor. Without a word, though making sure that she knew he was there so as not to scare the cats out of her bag, Sabel wrapped his arms around her in a big ol' bear hug. He wasn't going to give her the chance to say no.

"Hogwarts is going to miss you and your snaps."

And her cats. And the pink. Definitely the pink.

Pulling back, Sabel drew up his chair.

How about that. This Groundskeeper made it through the term without losing much sweat. Now he could return home to relax and see his siblings and friends who've surely been missing him. Who wouldn't? Don't answer that, because he already had a list of those who supposedly would.

So Justin could've been mopey today, but nope. He was not going to be mopey, he was going to be jolly and no one was going to stop that and his fun. Once he arrived and saw the display of friendly affection, Justin slipped right in between with snake-like moves before wrapping his arms around Sabby and Cassie. "Yeah, Cassie and the same goes for you Sab." As he gave a boa constrictor-like squeeze for them before patting their shoulders. "We must keep in touch." Guess it was back to his chair now after this.

After almost closing the trunk lid on his kneazle who meowed loudly at him and hissed Leo figured it was time high time to dress and leave for the feast and stop with the packing. Clad in navy blue dress robes and a white shirt he left to find Cassie. Only thing was that when he got the Divination Tower Cassie wasn't there. Assuming she had already gone down to the feast Leo made his way down the staircases.

Coming into the great hall several minutes later and seeing the scene up there on the staff table with Cassie, Sabel and Justin hugging he couldn't help but feel moved and feel his eyes water just a little. One thing about end of term feasts that Leo had come to hate like spider webs was saying good bye to staffers that weren't coming back in September.

Entering up on the staff dais Leo stopped near Sabel's seat and engulfed the DADA professor in a hug saying "You will definitely be missed around here Sabel." And he meant it. Letting go he stepped over to give Cassie a peck on the cheek. "You look pretty tonight. Did you bring Aries and Gemini with you?" Looking past his girlfriend to Justin he asked "How did you like your first year here Justin?"

Well, it was time for the end of term feast. Beatrice had dressed in her Hufflepuff colours tonight, dimming the yellow down to a more amber colour.

In through the doors she walked, looking around at the empty hall as she went. She had said her goodbyes once before, many years previously. But today, she was to say them again. It had been a wonderful year, teaching classes, attending all of the events around Hogwarts, and meeting a lot of people, but in the experience she had realised that her teachings were best suited to tutoring younger witches and wizards, rather than those of school age. So, for the very last time, Beatrice approached the staff table.

"Hello everyone," she said, looking at some of her colleagues who were to be leaving tonight, as she was, for the last time.

Botros walked out of the backroom of the Great Hall where he was jotting down some notes. He didn't look as bright as he used to, his face was paler than usual and there were some sweat beads on his forehead. His cane made the usual clink on the stony floor as he got up the dais and nodded to his staff. "Evening all," he greeted and headed towards the end of the table... no, no, his seat wasn't here anymore. He doubled back and headed towards the middle of the table with a slightly upset frown on his face.

Being constantly tired lately and emotional Cassie hadn't gotten much sleep so in the midst of her thoughts and resting her eyes she must have dozed off a bit. Though only for a second when she heard footsteps approaching and opened her eyes to see Sabel. When he leaned down to hug her she hugged him right back. Feeling tears already trying to break free she gave him her best smile.

"You are very sweet to say that. They will be missing more then just my snaps from what I gather." She had heard about his own departure and was sad to see him go. "What will you be doing now?" She wondered if he'd be headed back to the MLE.

SPOILER!!: Justin

The the conversation was interrupted by another hug. "Thank you Justin, I'm glad you had a good term." She knew the last groundskeeper was not so lucky, so she was glad to see one finally seem to have it alright. She smiled at the wonderful sweetness that she was receiving from both of them. "You two are going to make me cry before the students even get here. It has been a wonderful journey getting to know all of you and to teach." She loved to teach the students.

"You both will visit the shop won't you? You are always welcome to our home as well." She'd love to have them all over for tea sometime.

This one she wouldn't have to worry about not seeing after tonight's feast, "Hi there, thank you." Smiling sweetly as she looked down at her purse, [b] "Of course I did, they wouldn't have missed the last feast with the students. They have enjoyed their time here as much as I have.

She looked up more at him "How are you doing this evening? Everything packed?" She knew he didn't have to pack up nearly as much as she did, but getting the library summer ready wasn't an easy task either.

Seeing the first female, besides herself, she gave the woman a kind smile. "Good evening Beatrice, how are you doing?" The memos had come out she knew all who were changing plans and moving to other things, but it just seemed like so much for this feast.

Hearing the familiar cane, Cassie looked up but frowned as she watched the Headmaster seem like he wasn't going to sit next to her in his usual seat. Was something wrong that he wanted his old seat? As he doubled back and sat down she reached over gently squeezing his arm. In a soothing quiet voice she leaned towards him, "Is everything alright Ab?" He wasn't falling ill or anything was he?

No, this wasn't a sad day. It was a day of... Of new chapters. For all of her fellow colleagues, but mostly those leaving. She had already lined up plenty of students to tutor, which would be starting after the summer holidays. And she was going overseas with her sister. Yes, New beginnings. So why did her eyes want to start to glisten with tears?

As she walked over to her chair, not yet sitting down. "Cassie," she said, quickly gulping away any feelings that wanted to ruin her composure. "I'm.... Well I'm... I'm okay. How are you?" This felt difficult for her, but Merlin, Cassie had been on staff for a lot longer than she. Beatrice couldn't imagine what her colleague was feeling, to be saying goodbye as well.

And then Ab walked in, not his usual self. Beatrice felt a twang of concern for the man, and she walked towards him. Cassie was asking if he was okay, and Beatrice hovered around, placing her hand on his shoulder. He was okay, wasn't he?

Cece sat at her seat with a smile on her face as she ignored everyone around her as happy thoughts bounced around in her head. In less than twenty four hours she would be home with her husband, and not just for some quick little visit. No, this time it would be for a few months. These were always the happiest months of her life.

She was not about to sit there getting all sappy and sad because some staff members would not be returning next term. She had been here long enough to see dozens of staff come and go. Heck, she wouldn't be surprised if Justin announced that he wouldn't be returning next term. But enough thoughts about that.

Back to thinking about her husband.

The next staffer to arrive was Beatrice in amber coloured robes which made Leo think of Hufflepuff. He figured his colleague chose it in honour of this year's house cup winners or she just wanted something familiar on this night of very mixed feelings but most of all sadness. Flashing a beam in her direction Leo said "Good evening Beatrice! Has it been fun teaching transfiguration to the students?"

SPOILER!!: Cassie

Cassie wasn't going to be there with him every day at the castle next year but she wouldn't be so far away. Leo had to remember to ask Ab if he could connect the fireplace in his office to the floo network so he could visit Cassie when he needed or wanted. Smiling warmly he said with a gesture to the kitty purse in Cassie's hand. "Aries and Gemini brought along a present for you to the feast. You might want to pick it up before they get too many kitty hairs on it."

"Me? I'm fine. Just splendid. This will be a feast to remember. How are you doing?" Thinking about his packing frenzy earlier that had made Madonna retreat to the highest shelf in the library he said thoughtfully. "Almost everything is packed i think. I'll have to make a last tour of the library in the morning." But now was not the time to worry about packing Leo resolved.

SPOILER!!: Abraham

Moments later Abraham arrived on the dais his face paler than usual and was that sweat beads on his forehead. He did not look well. The brightness and usual cheerfulness that shined out of Ab was nowhere in sight. It worried Leo. He wasn't the only one who picked up on it since Cassie squeezed his arm and asked if he was all right and Beatrice laid a hand on his shoulder. Moving past Ab's seat Leo stopped to give the senior man's left a shoulder a concerned squeeze. "Is something amiss Abraham? You look pale."

With Ab's pale appearance gnawing in his mind Leo made his way down the table to his seat 2 seats down from Cece, that had a big smile on her face which was hard to miss. Slipping down into his seat Leo greeted her across the empty space. "Good evening Cece, you look happy tonight! Got some exciting summer plans?"

Pointing past her to Abraham he asked. "Could you take a look at Abraham? He is looking a lot paler than usual. I worry that he might be getting sick."

Flowers.

Today would not be sad. Paul would not be sad. Today would be a day about flowers and new beginnings and...NOT TEARS. The tissues were tucked deep in his bag okay? OKAY? BACKUP SUPPORT. With the basket in hand...he made his way to the table. Who got flowers? Well Sabel, Cassie...Beatrice. How lovely they all were. Life was so hard when people had to leave...goodbyes were just a reminder of the great goodbye in the end, he supposed. The big preparation for the culmination of the MEANING OF LIFE.

Before his thoughts got too philosophic, Paul stopped in front of Sabel, smiling. "I don't think we've gotten the chance to speak much, my friend. But you are a wonderful asset...you inspire the students to be the very best of themselves, and for that, I am grateful." He set a flower in front of Sabel's empty plate.

Crossing over to Cassie, he smiled warmly at her, BUT HE WAS SO SAD. "Cassie...you are kindhearted and passionate, and I will appreciate our many tea!talks and heart to hearts...you are one of my greatest friends, and I will treasure you forever." He set a flower dramatically so in front of Cassie. Sigh.

Now, for Beatrice. "I am afraid I thought I would have more time to get to know you, Beatrice...and I am sorry I didn't. You are kind and good with the students, and I know that whatever you do, you will do wonderfully." SNIFFLES. Paul placed a flower in front of her plate as well. His eyes scanned the four house tables, quickly. He needed to find all the SEVENTH YEARS EVER and give them flowers. He wasn't even in the mood to eat tonight. He wondered...well he had flowers for everyone he knew was leaving, and more. In case anyone touched his spirit tonight or anything...

He headed for his seat, smiling at Cece and Justin both. "Hello, both of you...good evening...are you two doing all right?" he asked softly, taking his seat. Abe looked tired tonight. Paul wondered if he needed a cup of steaming hot tea...or yoga. Maybe he would just need a quick hug. Paul was VERY good at hugs. Like, resume mentioning under "special skills" good at hugs.

Ahem.

Leo got a wave as well. His pal, his FRIEND. He was grateful the man was staying...

Nope. Definitely NOPE. There was too much NOPE and the astronomer was certain he only knew the half of it. With his personal life involving taking a leap of faith, for lack of a better term, combined with the whirlwind of changes afoot...the man was looking for an out. A way to cover up all those feelings that he had been unable to fully shut off after his conversation with Medea. It quite literally went against every fiber of professionalism instilled within the astronomer - on purpose that is. The whole wetsuit situation had been unavoidable - but desperate times called for desperate measures and nothing screamed confidence like a Starfleet Admiral.

Needless to say, the man had significantly more emotional range than that of a teaspoon this evening.

Thus. Here he was.

So bring on the laughter and judgmental looks. Anything better than sad faces that would no doubt be followed by tears - looking at you, Paul. His attire even made him not SO jumpy around Cassiopeia's felines, which could be his parting gift to her. No shrill screams of horror, you're welcome. Although he did have actual parting gifts for his colleagues, but that would be for a bit later on in the evening. Nothing like a good novelty mug to show one's affections, right?

He liked to think so.

"GOOD EVENING!" the man greeted the table at large, Vulcan salute with one hand and Pebbles presented triumphantly in the other. "Live long and prosper!"

LOOK ALIVE EVERYONE! Sweet solstice this was a feast, not a funeral.

For the man's on selfish sake. Please?

That was it, then.

Cosgrach was leaving yet again, and he doubted he would get another chance this time.

He was dressed in a simple black robe - his classic outfit, but he looked sad this time. He stopped at the entrance to take in every single detail as he had done for every part of the castle over the last week. He even had a notepad to write funny details he hadn't noticed before. It was probably useless to note down those details as he would never see the castle again, but wasn't this human nature? The humans realised that the things they took granted for weren't actually so stable in their lives . . . but, at least, Cosgrach didn't have any regrets. It wasn't a fed up goodbye either. It was just the natural course of events. He had spent the best 6 years of his life here (and managed to survive!). And now, at his final evening, he would enjoy everything even more and make the most of it.

So, after his observation was done, he made his way to the staff table before the students entered and greeted those already there with a wave. However, instead of sitting down, he walked over to Cassie and Sabel... the man he had suspected for so long, but who was some sort of a friend now? Eh...

"May I join the leavers' party?" he joked with a small smile. They would all be missed, he was sure. But he was also sure that the new professors would be just as good.

And then more people walked in, and it was all getting a bit much. But there was one staff member who wouldn't say something to make Beatrice cry. Well, not that way anyway. "Good evening Cece, looking forward to heading back home?" This was probably the last time she would see many of these people, and it was a very sad thought.

"Ahh Leo, good evening," she said, and despite her inner tears, a small smile spread across her face. She nodded, "It has been a great experience, and I'm so happy I did come. Good experience. But... alas I think the smaller groups suit my teaching a bit more." It was unfortunate because the students she had the privilege to teach were all, YES ALL, amazing. "Are you glad to be heading home for the summer?"

And then... Paul happened. His words hit her heart like a warm bubble bath, and she felt the tap inside her eyes turn on. Yep, those were tears running down her cheeks. And... flowers? Merlin, bless him with all of the trees and flowers in the world. She sniffled, and spoke in broken sentences, trying to keep composed. She didn't really want the students to see her in such a state. "Paul you are... an... amazing Profes... Professor and... and I'm sorry... that I didn't... try harder to get... get to know you." Her lower lip trembled, and she wiped at her face with her hand.

But the sad tears weren't going to be the only emotion she felt. Nope. There was a giggle in there too. It was more like a snotty giggle snort, but it was there, and out it came at the sight of one Airey Flamsteed. "You look wonderful Airey," she said, her eyes glistening as she smiled at the Astronomer.

And at the sight of another Professor, another leaving Professor, fellow Hufflepuff Alumni no less, walked up to the staff table. "Hello Cosgrach," Beatrice said to him. Like Cassie, and Sabel, it was another Professor who had come to know the students over the past few years.

And once she had a spare five seconds, she pulled out a bag from her robes. She had hand crafted infividual boxes filled with Bertie Botts. She was sure there were some staff members who wouldn't like the Beans, which was fine, but she did. And it was her way of saying thanks. She went up the Staff table placing each personalised box in front of each setting, each with a letter of thanks inside, addressed to each staff member.

No. Just no.

Meredith Moxley had survived a term as the Hufflepuff Head of House and NO ONE had died. Did people understand this accomplishment? Like, she was SO pleased with herself that they were lucky she didn't present herself with a medal. Merlin knew she deserved it, okay? So really, the long faces weren't going to fly with the Moxinator. Any friends here, leaving or no, were stuck with her. That was for sure. Here's looking at you, Culloden.

Purposesly going the long way around the table, the brunette clapped the headmaster on the back on her way by and gave him a kind smile. His demeanor during the detention was still on her mind and she was worried, but also not going to call attention to it. A simple grin would do for now. Speaking of grins, the rest of the table got a HUGE one from her. "Evening, everyone!" The party had arrived.

She gave her coworker a small smile as she sensed her sad vibes as well. It had only been one term, but as a staff you always grew so close. "You have been a great addition here. You will be missed." Usually it was the seventh years that brought on the sadness but tonight it was right here at the staff table. "What are your plans this summer?"

SPOILER!!: adorable Leo

Flashing a beam in her direction Leo said "Good evening Beatrice! Has it been fun teaching transfiguration to the students?"

Aries and Gemini brought what? She looked down at her purse very confused and sure enough there was something there, but what was it? Picking up her purse she reached down inside of it and pulled out a small little box. "What is this?" She questioned the two cats before looking up at Leo then back at the box before opening it to find the sweetest bracelet. "Aww Leo, this is so sweet thank you." Getting up from her seat she reached up and gave him a hug before adjusting her robes and blushing a bit.

Taking her seat behind the table she looked back up at him. "Yes it will be one to remember I guess." She hoped it would be a good memory that she would cherish for years to come, but now after tonight she had their future to think about. "I'm tired and an emotional wreck, but nothing you haven't seen for a while now." She giggled and snapped being honest. "I can help you in the morning if you need." She never minded helping him.

When Paul came over with the flowers her heart melted and she listened to his words as the tears really started to try and force their way out, no she wouldn't do this, not when the students were not coming in. "You are just the sweetest man. I am so thankful to have met you and become your friend. I look forward to our tea dates and to see you come to the shop and even over to the house." There will be plenty to come visit for in the future. "What do you have planned for summer? I hope we can have some lunch dates."

Seeing Airey come into the room Cassie couldn't help the smile. Always the interesting one. "I enjoy your choice of outfit tonight Airey." She made an effort to make sure her cats were not on his side of her chair but in between her and Ab. She knew he wasn't comfortable with them and felt she needed to try to make him more comfortable.

Cossy coming made her lip wibble again, he wasn't staying either. They already had that conversation. Her feelings at the beginning of term seemed so silly now. She knew she would get over them and her friendship grew stronger from it. "Of course you can join us. I bet you are excited to get home to your family. You'll have to give Victoria my hellos." She hadn't really seen the woman since their wedding, but it was still nice to say hello. "Thank you again for your help with that potion, it helped me very much." That fish class could have never went over well if she hadn't have had it.

~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~

See? Sabel was on the look-out for certain things this last day. The main one being MacLeod and his ever testing methods. So, he didn't miss the Groundskeeper as he made his way towards the staff dais. A quick retreat to his seat wasn't possible, however, as Morgan offered a too kind response.

A small smile touched Sabel's lips and he shrugged. "I think I terrified enough of them that they'll be glad." At least, here was hoping. His attention drifted towards the approaching Groundskeeper, his smile wavering slightly at the question. "I have some....personal business to take care of. Not sure how long it will take."

Realizing how grave that sounded, Sabel returned his gaze back to Morgan and spared her a warm smile, and promptly found himself the middle of a sandwich hug. A careful side-eye was given to the Groundskeeper. Perhaps it was just the circumstances of the night or just the many days working with the man, but the hug wasn't bothersome. What was surprising though, was that the hug was all. No further teasing. Nothing.

Sabel's eyebrow quirked as Justin pulled away, and as if the man was a decade younger than him and a brother, he slung his arm around the Groundskeeper's neck, ruffled his hair and gave him a quick, brotherly peck on the temple. And them promptly, but gently, pushed said mop of hair and head away. Just in case. "Didn't think you'd let us fall out of contact."

As much as he had judged the man from the get go, he had a good heart. "Watch out for the kids."

And that was about all he could say there. In another moment, he was enveloped in another hug and it took him a second to figure out who it was. When he did, Sabel clapped Leo on the back. "Thanks. I'll be missing the lot of you."

Stepping to the side so that Leo could have his conversation with Morgan, he caught sight of Beatrice approaching and taking her place at the table. The woman got a warm smile and a polite nod. And then, because he really had nothing to loose, he spread his arms slightly. "In need of a hug yet?"

So many of them were leaving. So many taking to different paths in life. It was as interesting as it was saddening.

His gaze caught on Cece, who had somehow managed to slip to the table unnoticed among all the hugs and starting waterworks. She looked completely unruffled and unfazed, happy even, despite the growing drama around her. Which, for a healer was probably a very good thing. He gave the woman a nod, regardless of whether she would see it or not. He would have given her a hug too, but wasn't particularly interested in getting his nose broken by a back-elbow of surprise.

As it was, Botros's enterance had his attention, and Sabel watched the Headmaster with no small amount of concern. "Evening, Headmaster." Was he not feeling well? Was there a draft? What there was, was too many people already crowding around the man, so Sabel stayed back, keeping his ear and eyes tuned in, in case he was needed.

What did need his attention, was Paul. Paul and his gifts of flowers and words. Sabel blinked for a moment, completely stunned by what he man had said. It was true, they had never really had the opportunity to speak much, so how was it that the man had such kind and encouraging words to give? His gaze drifted down to the flower, his ability to speak muted for a moment.

Finally, forcing himself back to composure, Sabel stepped forward and offered his hand to shake Paul's. "Thank you." Because really, what more could he say?

Flamsteed's arrival gave him the break in thought he needed, and as he picked up the flower Paul had placed in front of his plate, he moved his hand, and consequently the flower, into a proper salute for the approaching starman's gesture. A small smile was back on his lips. "Admiral. The ship appears to have several spots of leakage."

As in, the tears that were about to flow. Why weren't there boxes of tissue in front of each plate?

Meredith wasn't short in following Flamsteed, and the salute turned into a flower-wave. "Evening, Moxely." At least these two looked happy. It helped balance things out. Gave his mind a range of emotions to focus on and work with. A range, other than his own.

Then, there was Culloden. The man he still couldn't quite figure out. The man, who was leaving with a handful of the rest of them. He'd never gotten around to asking why. Perhaps, it was something he should have done. But it was too late for regrets, and all he could do was keep moving forward with the rest of them.

His smile went to Cassie as she invited him into their little circle, and a nod went to the potions master. "The more the merrier." Well, perhaps not in this case. Still, the man got a clap on the shoulder and an affable nod. No hard feelings about whatever unspoken thing it was that might have caused hard feelings, right?

Then there was Beatrice, putting boxes on the plates. Curious, Sabel departed from the departees and gave the woman a smile. "Thank you kindly." It wasn't something she had to do, but saying so was obvious and unneccessary. Tonight, was about reserving words and sentiments.

So, instead he focussed on opening the box and peeking inside. Beans, eh? Well then. There certainly wasn't a better way for a send-off than the risk of vommit taste and earwax. With his little prize, and tucking the flower stem through one of the buttons holes of his shirt, Sabel moved over to Airey, nudging the man with his shoulder. "I'll trade you two yellow for your green."

Green was a safer bet than yellow, right?

She dabbed at her eyes with her sleeve, thankful that she hadn't put on any black eye makeup tonight. Streaks of mascara down her face was definitely not something she wanted to put up with. She looked up to see Meredith joining the staff, and felt a grin spread across her face. "Good evening Meredith, how are you this evening?"

Oh, Cassie, it was those words that saw the leakage of another one or two tears. Dab dab with the sleeve, they were wiped away. Beatrice sniffed and smiled at her colleague. "Those are very kind words, Cassie. I would have liked to get to know you all better than I did. I know the students and us staff will miss you very much too." She would certainly miss her fellow blonde coworker. Ahh... a topic away from the sadness. Beatrice felt herself cheering up at the mention of summer. "I'm going to be going to China with my sister and her children for a few weeks before I start back with tutoring the little ones. How about yourself?"

Ahh yes, Sabel. The man who had given her a nod at her very first feast. She returned it with a smile, as best she could, then let out a laugh when he spread his arms open. "I am, actually," she said, and returned his hug. After a quick dab of the tears brimming her eyes, she said "I was ever so happy to see how excited the students became after the duel club. You did a magnificent job, Sabel." Just in case nobody had told him yet. Which they should have. Then, after placing each box in front of the settings, she smiled at him. "A little parting gift. I hope there are more good flavours than bad ones in there." She would miss seeing the students faces scrunched up with disgust after eating the horrid ones.

Trying not to look TOO disappointed that no one had eagerly jumped on returning the gesture, Airey's attention was drawn to the Transfiguration professor who....NOPE.

NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Keep those shimmering oculi RIGHT over there, please and thank you. Only the astronomer needed to speak with her so he couldn't exactly just run away and hide under the table out of sight of her tear ducts. "Thank you, Beatrice," he greeted, doing EVERYTHING in his power to NOT make direct eye contact with the woman. "I actually have a bit of a parting gift for you..." It was rather difficult not looking at her while doing all this, but first he had to rummage through his enchanted breast pocket looking for the poorly wrapped box. "...here."

Meri-berry got a bit of a wave, but it was a fleeting one as he needed to get all THIS over with before he became infected with the melancholy that had come over the staff table.

At least he could count on the Hufflepuff to smile. Even if she was a feline wielding one. And sweet solstice he was ACTUALLY getting closer to her and THAT bag with those BEASTS in it. "I have something for you as well," he nodded upon thanking Cassiopeia for the compliment. He had tried with the pink bow on top, honestly, and it was entirely Pebbles' fault that it had come out looking like a large knot.

Running away Moving down the table real quick towards Cosgrach, the Head of House ceremoniously removed a green box with a yellow knot bow on top and plopped it in front of the man. "Just a little something to remember me by," he said with a quick salute before scampering off back towards his side of the table. The Potions Master looked like he was about to sprout a leak and the astronomer did NOT want to be around for that.

Unless it meant he was under the table.

Speaking of leaks....REALLY SABEL?! Et tu, Brute?

Sweet solstice.

"I do not believe this ship can handle any substantial haul breaches," he replied solemnly to his colleague. While it was always a bit...unfortunate to see professors come and go, news of Sabel's departure had hit the astronomer the hardest. Worst of all had been that he had heard about it from the man himself while they had been casually discussing dueling club in the staff room. Sabel's words may as well have been an asteroid on full collision course for planet Flamsteed, because the impact had been just as powerful. And, given the advances in technology, far more unexpected.

Fumbling with his enchanted breast pocket once more, the man silently retrieved a poorly wrapped gold and red box and handed it to Sabel. Just in time to hear his offer about trading beans. His previous experience with consuming the things in Beatrice's presence had not gone over so well and he rather fancied keeping his taste buds happy this evening. But...a trade didn't mean he HAD to eat it, right? Right.

"Sure, but if it turns out it's troll bogey spit it out in the opposite direction of me," he chuckled.

Paul was just so precious. He watched his friend go around delivering out flowers to those that were leaving. Leo was extremely glad Paul was not one of them. It'd be odd enough without Cossy and Cassie at the start of next terms feast. He'd be glad for Paul's company. Catching Paul's wave Leo returned it with a flourish. They'd talk eventually.

SPOILER!!: Airey

Although he did have actual parting gifts for his colleagues, but that would be for a bit later on in the evening. Nothing like a good novelty mug to show one's affections, right?
"GOOD EVENING!" the man greeted the table at large, Vulcan salute with one hand and Pebbles presented triumphantly in the other. "Live long and prosper!"

When Airey arrived in his best admiral suit Leo couldn't help but smile broadly as he greeted his colleague. "Good evening Airey, nice suit! You're called an admiral right when you have command over several starships?" Please let him be right. Leo was unfamiliar with most tv shows produced in the muggle world but he had seen some episodes with Captain Kirk. The salutation that Airey did was unknown to him but cool.

SPOILER!!: Cossy

"May I join the leavers' party?" he joked with a small smile. They would all be missed, he was sure. But he was also sure that the new professors would be just as good.

The person Leo was going to miss most was undoubtedly Cossy. They'd worked closely together for more years than he cared to count had become really good friends and now Cossy wouldn't be there in september to occupy the potions seat at meal time. It'd feel strange and awkward. Pouring up some pumpkin juice into his goblet Leo drank a few sips just to have something to do. He'd converse with Cossy when he had taken his seat at the table for now though he just waved to his friend.

SPOILER!!: Beatrice

"Are you glad to be heading home for the summer?"

Turning to Beatrice he smiled warmly trying to be reassuring in all the emotions. "It's been fun having you here Beatrice. You've really brightened up the school with your energy and cheerfulness. I'm sad that you are leaving though, but I think the kids you'll teach in the future will be happy and thankful that you came to this conclusion." Nodding he said "Yes it shall be good to be going home for some weeks. But then come august I'll be missing Hogwarts again and all the students. How about you? Any exciting summer plans?"

As she set the personalized box of bertie botts down in front of his plate Leo looked up and beamed. "Thank you so much for this. I've always been a bertie bott fan."

SPOILER!!: Meredith

Speaking of grins, the rest of the table got a HUGE one from her. "Evening, everyone!" The party had arrived.

Then Meredith arrived with a huge grin on her face and considering her usual demeanour Leo was glad that she was going to sit next to him during the feast. She was going to keep him distracted and focused on happy. Flashing her a big smile Leo called over "Evening Meredith! Got any exciting summer plans?" Like planning to live like a muggle without magic?

Feeling the clap on the back Leo turned to smile at Sabel. "We'll miss you too. I hope we can keep in touch via letters?" The ex Auror had made a lasting impression on Leo that was for certain and on the students too with his successful dueling club.

SPOILER!!: Cassie

Getting up from her seat she reached up and gave him a hug before adjusting her robes and blushing a bit.

As Cassie peered into her kitty purse asking Aries and Gemini what it was Leo did his best to keep a straight face. When she had pulled out the present and seen what it was he answered a warm smile pursing his lips. "I thought you needed something sweet today." Because the feast would be an emotional rollercoaster for many of them.

"You'll do fine. Some food will perk you up and so will the company of the staffers around you like Sabel and Abraham." Leo reassured. Cassie just needed to strike up conversations with people if she did that she'd enjoy herself he knew. "If you want to. Otherwise I'll just get Madonna to cart some books on her back." It'd have been an amusing sight even if Leo knew she'd dislike him for it.

Moving past Ab's seat Leo stopped to give the senior man's left a shoulder a concerned squeeze. "Is something amiss Abraham? You look pale."
Abraham smiled widely at Leo, his old young friend, "Everything's fine. I haven't been sleeping well the last few days. Paper work starts getting to me by the end of the year," really it was nothing to worry about. He just needed food and then quickly go lie in his comfy armchair... uhh, bed. Lie in his bed. SPOILER!!: Sabel
Quote:

She couldn't help the light chuckle that left her, "I highly doubt that. I'm sorry Sabel, maybe it was just for me these past two terms, but I know there is a soft side in that Auror personality. I have seen the way you are with these children and I could not even think that ones would be scared of you. You have done amazing things with them and your dueling club was splendid. I truly hate the thought of you not being here to see how successful it will be in the future." She thought about her SNAC club and how because of family things she could not hold the meetings she wanted to this term.

Her smile did leave with his words about what he would be doing after this, "I expect updates on your health, children, and all sorts of things." She knew he gave her a smile after what he said, but he still said it and now she would put him on her watch list with her divination readings. She would worry about all her coworkers, but always the ones she knew had the more adventures side.

SPOILER!!: Beatrice

[

What a sweet woman Beatrice was and Cassie smiled, "I have been here five years and I still feel I could have gotten to know many longer." She glanced at her fellow staff members and knew which ones she had come to know more then others.

The topic of summer was a way to think of something else and Cassie was happy that it helped, "China sounds like a great adventure. Tutoring, so you will still be teaching in some senses. Always a good thing to help the young." What was she doing, Cassie glanced down a moment before looking back up, "I was willed my grandmother's shop just recently so I will be taking that over fully this summer. If you ever wish for a reading you should stop over. She always had the best variety of tea leaves too. I am hoping that I can keep up with it all and some new adventures as well."

SPOILER!!: Airey

"Sure, but if it turns out it's troll bogey spit it out in the opposite direction of me," he chuckled.

A gift? She glanced at the bag with the adorable bow. It was so sweet of him that before she even opened it she was standing again moving to hug him. Her foot bumping her purse scaring Gemini, who jumped out and took off under the table. Her arms around the Astronomy Professor for a hug she pulled back to open it. "This is sooooooo sweet. Thank you Airey, it has been a pleasure. Please I hope you do keep in touch." she knew she would know what was going on around the castle because of Leo, but it was still nice for them to keep in touch with her as well.

Her sweet sweet man, he was always thinking about her. She was so overwhelmed by emotions already and this was just the sweetest and she wiped at her face. "I just love it, thank you" She looked down at the bracelet again and smiled to herself.

Yes, food, well they would have to wait a bit for food. Again he was worried about her and she looked back up at him. "Yes eating will be nice, but I'm find for now. I we have so much going on with the staff and students are now coming in." The giggling and snapping came to his next comment as she pictured Madonna with books on her back, aww her poor step fur baby, she wouldn't let that happen. "I'll be fine helping you. I am finished packing." She had been working on it over some time knowing it would take her awhile.

Seeing the man frown alone could have made Cassie turn into a crying child. This man should never frown he was always too happy and sweet to be frowning. Was he sad from all the ones leaving as well? Her heart broke even more as he pulled closer to her and whispered. "Annie? Ab dear are you alright?" She looked at him with even more concern and couldn't help but reach up to his forehead to make sure he wasn't fevering at all. She had heard fevers made you confused at time. No, it didn't seem that was the case. Placing a gentle hand on his she gave him a weak smile, "Annie is most likely at home enjoying herself since she retired last term, remember? Ab I think you might be hungry. Why don't you take some water and then do your speech for the school. They are waiting on their headmaster you to tell them their end of the term words of wisdom. Then the elves will bring our food. I think food will help you right now." She could only hope that it was food that was the issue. Maybe she should see the elves about getting him a snack before the feast started.

"Evening Paul, I'm fairing alright and you?" Next to acknowledge, "Airey.. Cosgrach.. there's always room to join in." If anyone knew how to pop anyone's bubble, it was this gent. Whether they liked it or not and in this case.. Success! As Justin smirked before chuckling at the gesture from Sabel. "As if.." Losing contact was not allowed with him, "The same goes for you, mate." Wherever he ends up after this. Now what was this, an invitation?? "Ahahaha, how could I resist? I'll gladly come visit, the same goes for you both at my place." It was more spacious after all.

He was due to be seated about now, anyways. As Justin slowly removed himself with the others to take his seat at last. Just before the students started pouring in.

Sweet Merlin's pie at the amount of those departing as he saw Leo approaching. "Not bad Leo, it looks like I'll at last break the curse at this rate." Justin just had one more term to go.. not that he was counting. Hogwarts wouldn't be getting rid of him that easily. "Everything in the Library holding up?" It was closing for the term now, yes? "Hello Meredith, great dueling this year." Giving her a wink.

Noticing "Hello Beatrice, how'd your year go?" along with his boss, "Evening Cece... Abraham.." Something looked to be troubling him though. In a serious way.. did Cece know? "Do you need anything?" Luckily he wasn't the only one being attentive to him.

Was she late? She certainly hoped not.

Astrid's curiosity had gotten the best of her and she wound up in the kitchens, watching, fascinated as the elves busied themselves with the upcoming feast. It all smelled so wonderfully it hypnotized Astrid for a moment. When she checked the time it was already a few minutes into the feast.

The brunette was here now though, shooting polite smiles at her colleagues as she took her seat. "Nice evening," she greeted all, her eyes resting on the headmaster. He looked a bit pale, or was that the lighting? Sitting down she wondered if she looked any different. Was she maybe...glowing? That was probably a myth but she was still looking forward it. She was looking forward to it all.
