Charlotte had more money than she probably should have had, mostly because she'd saved money ALL SUMMER thanks to Davie paying for pretty much everything, and her conveniently not telling her mum and dad about her best friend being generous. So what it meant was when she got a galleon to spend on the train, she actually had FOUR galleons and SIX sickles to spend and she planned to get candy with ALL of it. ALL THE CANDY. SO MUCH CANDY.
She didn't even know where to BEGIN with the candy. There was no queue so Char just stood in front of the trolley eyeing everything gleefully. She'd get heaps! And then she'd share!
But only with cool people!

After giving his first-ever lecture on Hogwarts (EEEEHEHE), Davie needed a cold butterbeer to soothe his throat. Maybe some candy too, like a chocolate frog, because he'd decided to collect all the cards this year as something extra to do.
He stepped into the (surprisingly) empty food trolley and was surprised to find his BFF already here. But of course she needed candy; this WAS an awfully long train ride to school.
Stepping up behind her, Davie tapped Char on the shoulder and then pretended it wasn't him, crossing his arms and everything as he leaned forward to read the board of prices. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Hehe. How much for a butterbeer?

"I have lots of money, look!" She counted it all out, juggling it between fingers and carefully trying not to drop it all everywhere. They could get a ton of stuff right?
And did Char care that the food trolley lady could hear all this? Nope. She probably lived on the train anyway right?

His mum had patted him down and not let him bring as much candy in his pockets as he would have liked, but instead he had COINS for CANDY. "What are you thinking of getting? I'm thirsty. I met a new kid and I talked and he listened and it was cool." He could join their group if Char liked him too, Davie had decided.

"Yes! All of it!" That was a LOT of candy. BOGGINS of candy. Oh she didn't know where to start! Could they maybe buy EVERYTHING on the trolley? What happened if someone did that? If someone took the lot? Did that mean no other kids got candy? OR did that mean that actually the trolley lady had a stash somewhere else on the train that she'd fill it up again from? Or maybe she had house elves that would come and bring candy refills? Would it be wrong to buy it all?

"And we can always go and shove it in our trunks in the luggage compartment, that way we won't have to take it on the boats and won't have to worry about people trying to get our candy when we need to save it for our private feast." They had a PLAN now. Maybe it needed to go in the book? She thought so. Char took her backpack off and extracted said book, and a pencil, and wrote this new candy plan down, then held it out for Davie to look at. Did she miss anything?
A new kid?
"Well of COURSE he listened, you're the MOST interesting boy of anyone ever." She informed David loyally. "What was his name?"

Yes, they should definitely store whatever they didn't eat in their trunks, "because we don't want any falling out of our pockets on the boat ride and floating out to Bartholomew Henry," Davie agreed, nodding his approval to everything Charlotte wrote down.
He went ahead and made his first purchase, a butterbeer, so he could quench his thirst and figure out what to get next. David's ears burned pink at his BFF's compliment, but he didn't disagree with her. Hehe. "His name was Daxton, and everything he said had to be written down, because he's no good at talking," or something like that, "but I like reading so that was fine with me. We can add him to our supergroup, maybe, if he turns out alright after the Sorting?"
Obviously they needed a little bit of time to vet people, check them out and stuff. Also also also, "What candy are ya buying FIRST?"

Even though Henry had brought his box full of chocolate frog cards to trade with Teddy on the train, he hadn't exactly brought any chocolate frogs. In fact, he hadn't brought any snacks at all. But part of that reason was because his dad had given him some money so he could choose his own snacks at the food trolley. If only he could find where it was.
He slipped out of his compartment and into the corridor, looking around for a moment. Oh! There it was. Glancing around to make sure he wasn't in the path of someone bigger, Henry headed towards the food trolley. At least there wasn't to big of a line and he got behind some other kids to wait his turn. Digging in his pocket for a handful of sickles and knuts, he craned his neck, peering at the selection of sweets to make up his mind as he waited.
