| | |  The Observatory
 Feel like looking at some stars? You've come to the right place. From here in the Hogwarts Observatory you can see a tiny fraction of the 400 billion or so stars found in the Milky Way Galaxy. This circular but spacious room has been locked and opened as many times as there have been Astronomy professors staffed at the school. The huge telescope that former Hogwarts Astronomy professor, Professor Anteres, had put in years ago is still here and fully operable. Students are very welcome to try and use it. If you need a hand Professor Flamsteed is always somewhere close by and can lend you assistance. If the giant telescope is too much there is always smaller telescopes stored away in the cupboards around the room which you can borrow and use as you please as well as other astronomy objects.
Large star charts are pinned to the walls which anyone is free to study for own leisure or school assignment. Don't try and take the charts down though, as they are charmed to warn if somebody tries to remove them.
Stargazing is an activity best practiced at night and therefore the observatory remains unlocked. Students adhere by a curfew and after that hour no students should be found out of bed. If you desire to study the heavens after curfew, you need a signed note from Professor Flamsteed showing that you are allowed to stay up after hours. If caught after hours without a signed note you can expect that there will be consequences like loss of house points or detention.
The observatory is place for scientific inquiry much like the library is a place to immerse yourself in books, since it’s a shrine to our massively beautiful universe. Please respect any teacher or student spending time in the observatory by not running around or shouting in high pitched voices. Just because Professor Flamsteed isn't currently in the observatory doesn't mean he isn't watching what is going on.
OOC: you do not HAVE to RP your character asking permission from Professor Flamsteed in his office before posting here after hours and may pretend that you received permission. Also, please keep in mind that while looking at the stars can be a romantic endeavor, that is not the purpose of the observatory and any mischief may result in points being deducted or detention.

The Observatory had always been one of Damien's favorite haunts, especially on a clear night when the castle was quiet and his thoughts were feeling too... Loud.
This was one of those times. He didn't know what had turned him so thoughtful all of a sudden, his mother often said it was his intuition striking him before whatever was about to happen, happened, while his father, impractical, crazy man that he was, called it*teen angst and told Damien to push through it.
Damien sort of believed it was the sooner, which was way he was here tonight with his bubble pipe and a book, in an attempt to clear his head and empty himself of all the maddening thoughts threatening to overload him. He sat down cross legged on the floor and sighed, taking in the quiet and the night and just... Enjoying it.
Of course, the dreamy-headed boy had no idea he'd soon be interrupted, if he had, he might have packed up and gotten the hell out of dodge.

Gliding about the corridors and occasionally eavesdropping on a group or pairing of students who seemed to be buzzing with some juicy gossip to help make her feel alive. More than anything, however, she longed to get her hands dirty in the Tower Patch. Perhaps plant a new bed of flowers beside the pathways or trim some of the bushes into affectionate topiaries. But her desires were for naught as her hands would simply go right through any tools she dared try and hold.
" Oh goodness gracious HEAVENS above," she lamented as she floated up through the floor of the Observatory. " Why oh why oh WHY...are you such a STUDMUFFIN?!"
Forgetting her woes once again, Marion quickly glided over towards the young man and promptly interrupted her reading. Had her loud entrance not done so already.
" Well, helloooooooooooooooooooooo and GOOD evening to you, young man."
Oh were she alive, 50 years younger, and not already married to the love of her life!

Cutty entered the Observatory quietly. Stargazing, in a non-academic manner seemed almost frivolous and wasteful, but he was here to give it a shot. Two of his friends had done it and one had enjoyed it enough that it made her top five favourite things list. It was his own way of doing research on them. Ahead of him he could see Anderson-Belfort flirting with a ghost...No, the other way around. Damien would never flirt with a ghost, unless he wished to end up like her. Not a bad plan, but not one Cutty could see Damien going for.
"Eh, he's alright." He said pulling up behind the flirting pair. "Whatchyer got in that pipe, Abey? Fire? Lightning? Or just ordinary bubbles?"

Kace decided he wanted to do a little bit of night stargazing. Even though he didn't want to pursue Astronomy as a career, he still loved to do this as a hobby. He owled Silver to come here to meet him. He hadn't seen her in like forever and wanted to spend time with her. As he made his way to the observatory, he realized he saw no one here. He grinned with glee. This was the best way to stargaze and no distractions. As he placed his backpack down and made his way to the telescope. He began to look up and realized it was a clear sky. This was perfect.
Now to wait for Silver to experience this beauty of a night.

Silver zigged and zagged whilst making her way to the tower, her usual big head full of curls had been tamed down to a more sleek and straight look. A look which she had become more comfortable with since leaving Hogwarts for a whole year last term. But now that she was back and for her final year she wanted to spend as much time as she could with her friends, that still remained in this place. Studies were also very important but that was another story.

Durmstrang changes people. "Ooooh I love stargazing! It's been a while since I've done it." Smirk. Smirk. "Sounds like totes fun, Kace." Silver grinned. Yes that was something Miss Silver Barry would do with her friends, though she mostly gazed with a certain someone. wINK. WINK.
Constellations? Eeeeep! She wasn't so familiar with them, not even after constant lessons from her mother. Things worked a lot slower in the lioness' brain. Her attention span wasn't the greatest, but she was a bright young girl. "Little Dipper, hmm.." She bit her lip in deep concentration and looked into the telescope. "I think I'm gonna one-up you with what looks like, Pegasus." Feeling very proud of herself, at the current moment.

Such a peaceful night. My favorite kinds." Silver contently sighed and admired the view she was recieving through the scope. "You got it, Kace!" She was now on a mission to find a shooting star for her friend.
Silver was on the lookout for that shooting star, looking left and right and all the possible angles she was able to in order not to miss it. She was hopeful at least one would zoom by, but all she saw were the constellations. "I think I see Orion." She muttered as she focused on her mission. Just as she was about to throw in the towel on that shooting star... "Kace! Kace! I see one! A shooting star!" Silver happily pat Kace's arm, in complete excitement. "Look, it's so pretty!" The young lioness was beaming from joy.

"They are pretty gorgeous." he smiled at her. "Would it have been too cliche if I made a wish already?" he snickered. "Now tell me Silver what do you plan to do after Hogwarts?" I mean he just wanted to know what people were doing.

He heard Silvers plan and he thought that was sooo cool! He nodded in impressment. "Well I think you should do it." he told her honestly. "As long as I can join you. I mean I am gonna be studying magizoology in the meantime. I can multitask." he offered. He wanted to travel again.
Aaahh now the tables have turned. It was his turn to spill the beans. He thought about it before answering. "Well like I told you three seconds, I wanna study magizoology. I wanna go to University and just finish school. It is what my mom would want and just to see me graduate." he shrugged. But after school? He had no idea. "Well after that I just wanna travel and work with dragons." he told her. Sound like a good plan? He thought so.

I wanna go to University and just finish school. It is what my mom would want and just to see me graduate." he shrugged. But after school? He had no idea. "Well after that I just wanna travel and work with dragons." he told her. Sound like a good plan? He thought so. Silver bursted out in giggles. "Kaaaaaaaaaaace!" giggle fit, followed by squeezing him back. "That wasn't so bad." She grinned and gave him a playful wink.
She was happy to know she had the support of her friends regarding her journey to discover herself after Hogwarts is over. After all, she was going to have to adjust to being an adult and figuring things out on her own. "Thank you, Kace." she sincerely smiled at him. "Of course you can, it'll be so much fun! I want to collect key chains, along the way!" She beamed. "Magizooly? Wow that's big!" Silver was impressed. "But is it what you really want to do?" She looked at him, raising a brow. The only reason she asked was because she figured that life isn't all that fun if you do what others expect from you, rather than doing what you want. "Dragons sounds cool. My bestie, looooves dragons too!" She beamed. Beverly Wayne was known for her love of dragons. "Traveling is like my journey to self discovery and I can't wait to start! Along with my friends." She grinned at him again, playfully poking his arm. Giggles.

He was about to ask her how she was, but quickly thought against it... He presumed that dead people didn't much like that question.
Thankfully, his awkward pause was interrupted by none other than the slippery Cutty Mordaunt. " Just alright? I'm wounded, dude." Damien laughed, the sound was bright and cheerful despite his murkier thoughts and it showed just how charmed the lion's life was. "No, just bubbles... I considered the lightning, though." He nodded, and for added effect he took a draw of his pipe and blew out silvery grey bubbles.

He heard Silvers question and he opened his mouth to answer but then he closed it trying to think of how to phrase it. "Hmm it is what I wanna do. I want to have some degree under my belt it all." That is a must if you want a job. "I would love to work with creatures because it is all I know.." he said. "Because I have been working on a farm and know how to take care of them. I wanted to do Astro at first but then I knew it wasn't for me.." he said venting out his feelings is all. Man deciding your future can be a hassle. "Oh who is your bestie?" Kace wanted to know because if she is a dragon lover than she is a friends of Kace's. Simple as that.

She nodded as she listened to him, then began to think to herself about what exactly interested her regarding a job. Yeah she can live of, of the Barry fortune but she didn't want to be known for that. Silver wants to be known for the success and intelligence she's brought to the table and not for the golden spoon she was born with. "As long as it's what you want, then go for it." She smiled at him, sincerely. "I...I don't know what I want to do. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty scary not knowing what's ahead." She shrugged, followed by chuckling. Silver didn't do well with expressing her fears, since she was known for being fearless. But seeing how peaceful it was up here and with great company (Kace was good company) she just let it all out. Now regarding her bestie, a HUGE smile appeared on her face, "Her name is Beverly Wayne and she's a Slytherin here! Silver beamed. Beverly was one of her closest friends whom she grew to really admire and care for.

Silver contently sighed and held her ground, crying in front of people wasn't something she was used to. "Thanks, Kace. Really." Flashing the most honest smile, she felt somewhat better 'course seeing was believing. "She's pretty awesome. My sister from another mister!" Silver giggled.

A giant telescope.
Yeah, that seemed like a worthy object for his colour-changing homework. AND, it would be a more challenging one too. Everything else he'd changed so far had been smaller, easier, but THIS... well this would be different.
Not wanting to waste any time, Zeke pulled out his wand and aimed it at the telescope. Despite its size, he was still standing quite close, no risk of missing or anything. Focusing on bright Gryffindor red, Zeke released a slow breathe and recited the incantation which is was so familiar with now. "Colovaria."
There was red, and it was a handsome red, but as much as there WAS red, there also WASN'T enough. He looked up toward the top and noticed that the red hadn't consumed the telescope, so he still had work to do. Focusing higher up, Zeke adjusted the aim of his wand.... higher... higher... HIGHER... THERE!
"Colovaria!" he repeated, more determined this time than the last.
The parts that were left white were soon much darker, and very very red. He considered this a success.
In fact, Zeke walked from one side of it to the other, just to make sure he hadn't missed any spots, and then satisfied with his work, added it to his list and left.

With two fluffy blue blankets in her arms, Penelope entered the observatory. It was late, but she had a note from Professor Flamsteed allowing her to be here after curfew. She spread one of her blankets out on the floor to sit on and wrapped the other one around her shoulders to keep her warm. Putting down her bag she pulled out some parchment that already had several drawings of the moon on it and a quill.
Penelope had been working on a lunar cycle chart. Every night she would draw the moon, and she could see how the moon phase was changing. She had set up a telescope so she could get a closer look at the moon. Her pet rock Luna was helping hold the parchment in place while Penelope worked on the chart. The moons on the chart were labeled with the moon phase that they represented.
It was cozy with the blankets. She liked it here in the observatory because it was a good place to study astronomy and it was quiet. The Ravenclaw soon found herself falling asleep on the floor, wrapped in her blanket. Sleep was good.

Hmm. Telescopes would be good for changing colors, right? Right. Caleb could see a pretty dark green and gray telescope in his brain now! SO much better than silly gold telescopes. So boring. Really everything needed to be Slytherin-fied he decided. He should do it to all his own school supplies.
Picking out a rather rusty looking telescope, Caleb picked it up and then pointed his wand at it. He closed his eyes and imagined it dark green, with silvery Slytherin gray around the eye piece..."Colovaria!" he exclaimed. When he opened his eyes, the gold color was fading, fading, fading...and viola! Slytherin telescope!
He placed it back on the stand, wrote down this item's location in his notebook, and then headed out to make more things GREEN.

It did the gangly man's heart good to see a bright young mind like the Ravenclaw really throw themselves into their studies and go beyond the bare minimum to scrap by with a good - or decent enough to graduate - marks.
Even if he was still convinced that his lessons would truly be the death of her. Thank Merlin she was not a Gryffindor or Miss Wright would have red shirted long ago.
Stepping into the observatory, however, he was greeted not with the sight of a stereotypical studious Ravenclaw, but a sleeping on. Clearing his throat, loudly, he approached.
"Don't believe I gave permission for you to turn the observatory into a dorm, Miss Wright."

What was that? Waking with a start, Penelope grabbed her wand and sat up ready to face whatever was... Oh. It was just Professor Flamsteed. Wait a minute. Professor Flamsteed? How did he get into her dorm? Wait, no, she was still in the observatory. Awkward. Why was it always him? Probably had something to do with the fact that this was his observatory.
Lowering her wand she said, "Sorry, Professor. I was working on this with my pet rock Luna and I must have fallen asleep." Maybe she shouldn't have stayed up so late. She held up her lunar cycle chart for him to see. The observatory was not intentionally being turned into a dorm. That would be really cool though.
What was she supposed to do now? Keep working? Would Professor Flamsteed send her back to her dorm? She wasn't ready to leave the observatory yet. Although she was now convinced that it would be spiders, not Professor Flamsteed that would be the death of her, she still wasn't entirely comfortable being around the astronomy professor. Actually now that she thought about it, maybe Flamsteed would be the death of her if the spiders didn't get to her first. No, she couldn't think like that. She would survive. Um... She was just going to keep working on this.

| - same timeline as the happenings in the Great Hall -
Having chased the shiny and elusive otter all around the castle, the acromantula had lost visual contact with it about a floor ago. Still clutching the turkey in its pincers, Aletag made his way into a strange room with lots and lots of windows.
"Where did you go?" he hissed excitedly while all eight of his legs scurried eagerly forward. WAS it in here?
Looking around and seeing no silvery otter, the acromantula made its way towards one of the MANY windows and looked down. A large dark moving mass had emerged from the Forbidden Forest and was quickly making its way towards the castle. A large mass that, had Aletag known how to use a telescope to take a closer look, was in fact his brothers and sisters once again descending upon the castle.
And they would be here SOON.
