First Floor Corridor

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9a48cf14.jpg

The only way to get from here to there twixt the ground and second stair.

Places of interest on your way: the Muggle Studies and History of Magic classrooms, a swamp in the middle of this corridor, and the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Traverse this dusty floor with care!

For anyone

Cassie was taking a little walk around the castle. It was always so fun to do when it was colder outside. Plus with rounds she could always get some exercise in while watching for all the students. Finding herself on the first floor she felt a bit hungry, but did she have time to go to the kitchen?

With snap in her head, she remembered a chocolate frog she had in her bag so she quickly pulled it out. Yes this would do for now. Opening it she let the box hit the floor as she bit into the chocolate goodness. "Yummy" How she loved her chocolate.

Now she should really start walking again.

Tyler was out exploring the school, he had a bit of spare time on his hands so he thought why not better than him sitting bored in the common room.. right? He walked along the first floor corridor wondering if anyone would be out here, why would anyone be out in the cold here? They would have to be a bit odd to be walking in the cold corridor. No sooner had he thought that particular thought, he saw someone walking along the corridor. She then stopped got something out and ate it but dropped the box, was it? no! it couldn't be! could it? He quietly jogged upto where the little box was. Yes it was!! He made a little noise so that he wouldn't startle whichever professor she was and stood up with the box in his hand opening it for the card hoping it was a missing one! He slowly opened it and took out the card "Yes!! I finally got James Potter!!" he said doing a very lame victory dance before remembering that he was in the presence of a professor. He suddenly looked up in shock, please tell me she didn't see that.. please say she wasn't watching!! He hoped her attention was busy elsewhere!! He so hoped so!!

As she finished her chocolate frog Cassie had just started walking down the corridor when she heard something from behind her where she had just opened her little snack. Turning she noticed a boy pick up something on the ground and couldn’t help but chuckle as he seemed to be excited and dancing. She couldn’t help but give him snaps. He was a first year from her lessons. What was his name again? Honestly she’d like to make everyone a cat so she could remember their names. Why were humans so hard to remember?

“Find something interesting?” She walked back towards him, “I do like your dance moves, but what is so exciting?” She enjoyed exciting so maybe she could share in the dancing. Was it for a class or something? She couldn’t remember if Nessa said anything about a dance lesson in history of magic, oh maybe she was having them study the history of school balls. That could be super fun!

When she got closer she did notice it was a wizard card. “Oh I remember collecting those.” She had a small collection still in her person things from when she was a kid, but where she wasn’t sure on the top of her head.

Oh goodness she HAD indeed seen him dance, sugarpuffs!! "You did?" there was something surely wrong if she liked his dance moves. "Oh...umm just these cards that you get with the chocolate frogs" Thats what was so exciting, how could it not be exciting! It was one the most amazing things of the magical world! The Card Collection Competition that he was so going to win, if only he could find the missing cards from his collection as well as the most rarest ones of all. Did he find something interesting? He did indeed of course it was hard to miss the the wonderful thing that was on the floor shining in the daylight that was entering the corridor through the windows. "I did find this on the floor, I think you umm dropped it" By accident he was sure, who else would drop something so important as if it was a bit of litter. It most certainly wasn't a bit of litter that can be discarded away so easily! She collected them as a kid? Oh better give it back "Professor, I think this is yours" he said giving it back to his professor, he wouldn't want to deny her from adding James Potter to her collection if he was missing from it. At least he saved her from being labelled a Litterbug as he was sure that was not something that she wanted to be labelled as.

Smiling at the boy she nodded to his questions, “I did enjoy the dancing. It’s always fun to see people enjoying their day. More students and even staff should just break into dance more often.” What a happy place this would be if dances just broke out in the corridors because everyone was celebrating just being happy. That could be so much fun. Cassie was snapping at the thoughts.

She looked at the card the boy was holding until he said she dropped it. She looked down at her bag, no she put the box back in her bag, that couldn’t be hers and even if it was, she wasn’t going to admit, her a professor just littered in the corridor. “No, that’s not mine. I wouldn’t just throw a box on the corridor floor for someone else to pick up.” She huffed a bit at the thought though she did smile nicely at him. “Though if this isn’t yours it was very nice of you for picking up someone else’s garbage. “ That did give him snaps.

She held up a hand, “No, no that is not mine. If it was that would mean I dropped the box when I clearly just said I didn’t. No you keep it, it can be a finders keepers sort of thing. Plus for being such a good student and cleaning up our corridors I’m going to give you five points.” She snapped proudly at how fun it was to give points.

Merlin! She loved the dance?? Call the school nurse! this professor needed her head checked for liking his loony dance, more students and teachers should do it? Okkkaaayyy. "Yeah.. I er.. guess so " you guess so? did you just agree to that idea? "I mean if.. no one else minds that is" nice one kid! next thing you know she will make you the ambassador for dance within Hogwarts! Bravo! Bravo!

He watched as she denied dropping the box, he wanted to say that he witnessed her littering in the corridor but he had just won points for his house. He won 5 whole points for picking up her litter! This was so easy, professor should drop litter more often and then reward students for cleaning up the school! that was a fun idea and a good way to keep the school clean "Er.. you are right professor it can't have been yours, someone else eating the chocolate frog like you just dropped it with the card since they probably don't collect them" did he just cover for the professor dropping litter? man that was one way to becoming a teachers pet! There was no way he was becoming one of those! At least he got to keep the card and got 5points too "I will er... safely discard of this litter on your behalf professor. Thank you " Ok he needed to shut up now if he said anymore someone would come along and label him as the teachers pet! He didn't want that definitely!! But at least he knew she was a very nice professor, in return he gave her one of his sweetest smiles "What were you doing all alone here professor? Its pretty cold too, aren't you cold? " he asked wondering if she was and besides did no one want to keep her company while she walked through the school even if was doing her rounds of patrolling the school.

Why were children so shy about their dance moves? Well some of them at least, though many adults she had found were the same. It was all just a pity. “They shouldn’t mind at all. Dancing it fun and can cause a chain reaction of positive vibes. Think about how happy everyone would be.” She snapped at the images of the entire castle happy and dancing. What a wonderful thought!

She eyed hi a bit, was he going to tell her she had dropped the box again? Cassiopeia did not litter and if she had well then it was clearly an accident that she wasn’t going to fully admit. Plus he was doing the right thing and going along with the points earned. Good little first year this one. “Exactly, plus like you said your lucky day that you got a card.” Big win for this Ravenclaw if she had ever seen one. Giving him snaps for his good behavior.

“Oh my behalf? Well that is very nice of you Tyler, but not necessary since I did not drop it.” Just to be sure he knew that. Looking around the corridor she shrugged, “I like to walk the castle and see what’s going on, plus a Professor’s duty is to always be where students can easily find them and know they are around.” She’d say to make sure no funny business was going on, but she rarely saw that around here. ‘Oh I don’t find it that cold. I bit drafty though.” Walking helped keep her warm, so she didn’t see it as cold as others might.

Tyler looked at the professor as she talked about happy dancing positive vibes "That is true professor" wow he actually agreed with the professor in the matters of dance? He must be ill to agree with the professor! But it was true passing on positive vibes was the way to happy dancing "True I guess people would be happier in some cases" that was true but how was the professor so right? "But professor! like not everyone will be happy to dance so getting them happy might be a little bit of trouble" he said knowing that no one would like to dance, why he cared anyway he didn't know! Maybe because the professor was being so lovely and nice that he felt inclined to. He beamed as she said it was his lucky day "It is!! I've been missing James Potter from my collection for ages!! I finally got it thanks to you professor! " he said grinning. He was sure that he saw the professor drop this but then maybe it was a trick of the light that made him see the professor drop the wrapper so maybe it wasn't her afterall. I would be bad to accuse the professor of something she didn't do. He smiled at the professor "Oh yeah walks are good! even if they are drafty they still feel good. Good to get out away from any work we might be doing plus yes it is good for students to able to find professors in case they needed to ask something" such as homework of course that was his main work at the moment. "I hope I am not disturbing you on your walk professor? Perhaps you are on an exciting adventure or something " he asked as he didn't want to disturb her if she was upto something important and yet fun or even something exciting!! Oh he wondered what exciting stuff the professor was upto tonight. With this school being so magical exiting stuffs were happening all the time, but she might not tell even if she was on an adventure lest someone might want to join her say like... Tyler!!

This one was smart for a first year, yes he was. Of course not everyone would be happy dancing she knew that and she knew that some just liked to be grumpy pants, but if many were dancing and having a good time the positive vibes would bounce of the walls and in turn help the overall moral. “We need to find what makes them happy and help them. Nothing is impossible and hard just means to work a little more to win them over.”[/b] Giving a snap she knew it could be done. People just needed to have faith.

As he went on about his collection Cassie glanced around the corridor just checking to make sure things were in order, when he green eyes moved back to him she gave a smile. “Well you deserve it for picking up someone else’s litter.” How dare someone just drop a chocolate frog box and card on the ground. Honestly! Haha!!

“Exercise is good for the body and mind. It keeps you smart and in shape.” She had to agree with him on that. It was why she enjoyed her patrolling of the corridors. “When it’s too cold outside this is the next best thing.” Maybe she should start a walking club or something for student who would want to get exercise in the winter. Nessa and her did yoga too, that might be something fun for the students. “You did not disturb me Tyler, but I must get back to my patrol. It was very nice talking to you today.” She always enjoyed stopping and chatting with students, but she did have things to be doing. “Have fun with your card collection.” Giving him another smile she turned to head back down the corridor.

Astronomy Lesson 2 HW Post #4

The mirroring first floor corridor was equally open for search posters. Benny just had to figure out where exactly he wanted to put it. The Gryffindor took a walk down the corridor that covered a classroom or two, looking back and forth between the two sides of stone as he debated his options. It took a return trip for something to jump out at him, thankfully not literally. One never knew to what extent something might happen...like a painting reacting or a ghost suddenly appearing.

Nevertheless, he stopped in front of a portion of clean wall and paused for a moment or two in decision. Satisfied, he pulled out his second to last roll of parchment poster and unrolled it against the wall in roughly the place he wanted it. A round of properly-cast sticking charms later, it was attached right to the stone and he could admire the work until he was ready to move on. One more poster to hang and he was all done and he was more than ready to move onto something else.

Picking a nice eye popping blue for his last box, the Astronomy professor set it down in the middle of the corridor. Surely someone would notice it there. The black question marks on the side were rather striking.

Making his presence unknown, he waited to see how this little experimentation would go.

Adi hummed his way along the first floor corridor as he did some epic air guitaring. He was performing at a rock concert, yo! The audience was LOVING his guitar solos. Hehehe. The guy had imagination. Sooooo much imagination. "Thank youuu! Thank you for the love! You guys rock!'' Cue the Sign of the Horns to an imaginary crowd.

Oh wait.

Maybe if his fan was a BOX with question marks, then he wouldn't be needing his imaginary peoples. The Hufflepuff cast a suspicious glance around. WHOOOO had left that there? Adi being Adi, the forever curious one, approached the object cautiously, prodding it gently with his left foot. "What are you doing here, my little boxxy friend?'' Hmmm. It looked so innocent sitting there but looks could be deceiving, yes?

"Cistem Aperio!'' Using a spell and standing a bit of a distance away was good enough to maintain one's safety.

Facepalming. The man was legitimately face palming.

Sweet solstice, what ever happened to just opening a box like a NORMAL person?!

The box in question, made from thin cardboard, did not have the structural integrity to withstand that sort of enchantment and blew up where it sat on the floor until there was nothing left.

Nothing but bits of blue cardboard.

But no real loss, he supposed. There hadn't been anything in there to begin with, save for a little piece of parchment with a note on it that was now torn in several pieces. He supposed...the Hufflepuff could piece it back together to read the message.

Maybe.

Okay, that was a legit BAD idea.

Or was it?

If there had been anything bad in the box it certainly WOULD have been destroyed now but if there hadn't been... well, Adi really did loose his chance to find out what was in there. He stood there as the remnants of the cardboard box floated down and around him. "Sorry about your box!'' He figured someone might be lurking around, waiting to see who would be along to open up that box.

Oh hey! Was that a piece of parchment? Adi snagged the thing. Yep it was but only half of the whole thing apparently. What did it saaay?

Still facepalming in silence, Airey figured now was as best a time to make his official exit. But, for his own peace of mind, he waited just a little bit more to see what Mr. Rehman would do.

The particular piece of parchment in the prefect's hands vaguely read
Quote:

OW
HER
DAY

But putting the rest of the fragments together would spell the message
Quote:

TOMORROW
IS ANOTHER
DAY

Which basically was the man's was of illustrating that not every mystery had an exciting secret to be revealed. Behind every scientific inquiry there was not always a world changing revelation. Sometimes there was just nothing.

Nothing. Like what remained of that box now that the breeze through the windows was picking up and blowing pieces every which way.

"Ow her day,'' Adi read aloud after establishing that no one was going to reply to him. That or the fact that the person or persons had left long before he blew up the box. That latter part would have been better. He squinted around just to be sure he didn't notice the swish of a robe or anything. Nope, nothing.

But back to this message. "There has to be more pieces of you around,'' the Puffer told the parchment. He looked around at the mess he had caused. GOSH! The wind was picking up the fragments! Some were going this way, some that way and some out the window!

The sixth year rushed about trying to rustle up the other parchment pieces, totally forgetting that he could try summoning them. Off in one direction he went! Nope, no parchment! Onto the next direction! Nuh uh. Next one! Hey! There was a piece, hitching a ride on the wind's tail! Adi snagged at it. Holding it against the first piece, he could see they fit snugly thought the message was still incomplete. Hmmm. Time to figure this out.

Double 'R's and 'not'. "Rrow nother day.'' Huh? Adi repeated these strange words until gradually, they started making sense. "Tomorrow is another day!'' Awwh, what a nice, positive message. Was this all that had been in the box though? Ugh! Now he couldn't be sure thanks to his brilliant work will blowing up the box.

Astronomy HW Post #1 (for Felix)

Kate had worked really hard on her mystery box for Astronomy homework. She'd packed it full of things she thought any student here at Hogwarts might like. Sure, it'd been hard to part with the items inside, but she figured they'd be a nice surprise to whoever it was that found this. She'd also thought long and hard about where she'd drop it off. The first floor corridor sounded like a good place to get the box found, because there were three classes held on this floor. Surely somebody would come along and find it.

Kate had decorated the box, too. It was black, because black just seemed like a mysterious color to her. She'd painted question marks on all sides of it to make sure somebody knew the contents were a BIG mystery. She'd even attached a note to the box that said:

NOT a malicious box, so please don't throw away! This is part of
Astronomy homework and whoever opens this is in for a big treat! - K.A.

It would be a real bummer if the box was found only to be destroyed, because people didn't want to chance opening it. Kate didn't want to hide the box either. She wanted it off to the side but where people could see it, too. Kate propped it next to a statue and walked a good ways away.

Where she once stood was a MYSTERY BOX just waiting to be found!

Casually walking through the corridors was just a THING Toby liked to do, especially now his time at Hogwarts had started to wind down. Recently he'd taken to strolling around and really LOOKING at the place, noticing things he'd somehow never seen before now that it was neither overwhelmingly new OR under-the-radar sort of familiar.

YEP! Noticing all the things. Like... like that box, for instance. INTERESTING.

He'd not SEEN any mystery boxes at all so far, which was strange. A mystery, even, so Toby was super excited to spot this one, and hurried right over to it. He stood before it, loticed the note, and picked it up to scan through it.

"Not a malicious box... don't throw away... Astronomy homework... big treat... K.A...." Toby mumbled to himself as he read through the note. Oooooh, big treat? AWESOME. He eyed the box again, wondering if he really was worthy for any sort of treat that was inside. Initially he thought not, and that he might leave it and let someone else open it. But what if no-one DID? That would mean that he'd walked away from helping someone with their homework and THAT was a very un-Toby-like thing to do.

So he made up his mind, and opened up the box.

Astronomy HW Post #2 (for Felix)

The MYSTERY BOX was opened to reveal a box full of sweets free for the taking! The first treat is an unopened chocolate frog, which can be opened to reveal a Helga Hufflepuff card. There's also a box of Bertie Bott's beans, a five-pack of sugar quills, a bag of Jelly Slugs, and a freshly-baked cauldron cake wrapped in a little plastic bag. Kate was only a second year and couldn't make it to Hogsmeade herself, but she'd gotten a friend to get her the treats a few days with this mystery box in mind.

From down the corridor, Kate watched Toby find and open the box. She was excited that someone had found it, AND that she got to watch them open it. It hadn't taken long for someone to find it either. Kate hadn't even gotten far enough to really walk off when she'd spotted Toby and waited to see if he'd open the box. She didn't know if he liked sweets or not, but even if he didn't, surely he had a friend who did. Kate started to walk over and congratulate him on the box full of sweets, but she decided to remain anonymous. If he figured out who K.A. was, that was fine, but she wasn't really the type to head back to receive a 'thank you' or anything like that.

So with both a good deed and her Astronomy homework done, Kate turned on her heels and headed off in the opposite direction. It was the long way around, but she'd chosen not to head back to the box. Making it to the stairs, Kate took them and headed up toward the direction of the Ravenclaw common room.

GAAASSSSPPPPPPPPP.

WELL. Toby was absolutely positively 100% glad he had given into curiosity and opened up THIS mystery box. He gazed inside at the veritable wealth of treasure treats, taking each thing out of the box in turn to take a proper look at each of the sweets. All of them were his favourites, he decided, but also all of them were his favourite things to SHARE with people. Look at it all!

With a big grin on his face, Toby looked up and down the corridor to see if perhaps the mysterious K.A. was somewhere nearby. He didn't see anyone, but thought he'd maybe heard footsteps nearby, though that could be literally anyone in a castle full of people. Still, this was an AWESOME box! ALL THOSE SWEETS!

"Thank you mysterious K.A.!" the Hufflepuff called out down the corridor, looking this way and that again, and hoping whoever it was had heard it. "Awesome box!"

So, he'd be taking these now, and going to go and share the wealth. Toby put all the sweets back inside with the note, and took the entire box off on his quest to eat everything find someone to share with.
