Bonfire Bash
|
Night was starting to fall, meaning it was time to start winding things down. Gabe, who was exhausted from a day of cool water, steaming heat, and amazing food, had already picked out a log near the massive bonfire. It hadn't really hit him until that moment. This was it. His final night at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...and it wasn't too pleasant a feeling...like it'd been for most of the day. The potions had worn off...and Gabe was left to seriously contemplate the next stage of life. It would start tomorrow, as soon as he stepped off the Hogwarts Express. Was he ready for that? Meh. It was a lot to think about tonight. Too much, in fact. Resigned to just relax, Gabriel made himself comfortable, prepared for speeches? and whatever else was coming next. |
So pretty much everyone was right when they said fifth year would fly by. But it wasn't as if she was having fun or off fighting acromantulas like her peers and professors. Though she half wish she had been because just maybe she would have been the teensy bit more relaxed when it came to her OWL examinations. Truth be told, she hadn't even paid the slightest attention to the cobwebs or anything really. Or anyone. And she felt sort of guilty about it, particularly as she sat at the end of term "feast" and realized she felt she had less friends than when she started off the year. Sure there were people she knew but she didn't really talk to them for the year so when it came time to say goodbye, Tia felt like she had never even said hello. The only thing she had to hope for was that at least her OWL scores would maybe reflect her year of inversion. Pulling her knees up to her chest, she hugged them close as she watched the flickering flames, thinking how much that fire felt like her life right now. Flickering, barely alight . . . but somehow hoping for more life to be added. |
Gabe and anyone else ^_^ Adi felt like a prune. You know, since they're so shrivelly? Well, it would explain his feeling because he spent SO MUCH time in the water today. That's why he was sort of glad to have this Bonfire activity to look forward to. At least he would be dry. Not that he hadn't had fun in the water. He had had a TON of fun. This had been one of the best events yet! Spotting his favourite Ravenclaw, the Hufflepuff headed over. "Hiya, Mr Sciencey Guy! Mind some company?'' Adi hoped not so without further ado, he flopped down next to his friend. If Gabe didn't want company, Adi wouldn't mind getting shooed away. "It was quite an event, wasn't it?'' He was pretty happy about the way things had gone. Too bad time had gone so fast though. |
Blankets were awesome, and yes she had stuffed a bunch of them into a locker earlier and was not carting them over to the bonfire for the colder students. “Hey Tia,” Puck smiled over to the Ravenclaw – really, she had failed at being actively friendly with anyone this term but she had felt bad you know…about not being that way and well, obviously more friends were in order. “Banner – congratulations on graduating.” She smiled over to him – what, it wasn’t odd for her to give her co…yeah no it was off to smile at him this was more being pleasant because well think about it. The summer was here and that was great and of course she turned her attention to Adi and gave him a big smile as well. “Hey Adi,” She grinned. “Any of you guys want blankets?” She asked as she placed some on an empty log near the fire before snagging one for herself. “You guys have fun plans for the summer? Or the rest of your lives?” She asked happily not even bothering with pretenses and just being less defensively cold to everyone. |

"Hi Gabe," she said quietly. "It was a great night. Better than the feast. I think I'd have been more... sad... if it were a feast. You know, with farewell speech... speeches." She sighed. She really didn't want to leave, but she was sort of excited about the next chapter of her life. She just wasn't looking forward to living without the security of Hogwarts. At least she had know she got to return to the castle after summer. Summers had been about relaxing between years, but now... now she had to join the real world; find a job, have responsibility, find her own place in the world. It was a lot to think about. |
The event had gotten later and later and the bonfire had been lit as advertised in the grand scheme of the day's events. Benny was looking forward to it of all the events...perhaps it was the involvement of fire in the mix. You know, a dragon was naturally drawn to fire, especially open fire, much like a moth to the very same flame. So once he was aware it was ready and they could start heading over, he had retrieved his blanket from the locker and moved to do so. There were a few already gathered there, including Adi, Puck, Gabe and Zhenya. The latter two about to head off on their own as graduating seventh years. "Hey guys," Benny greeted as he took a seat beside Adi. "Looks like its been a great night." |
There weren't very many people at the bonfire at the moment, although it was a happening place and Dot was absolutely sure that people would be there soon. In the meantime, she grabbed up a fuzzy green blanket and looked for a good spot to watch the action. Gabe got a head-cuddle as she passed, and Adi got a pat on the shoulder, and then Dot chose a seat downwind from the smoke. Now this... this could only be better with a marshmallow on a stick. Why hadn't she grabbed one of those too? |
Quote:
And so when he sat down next to Dot, he was paying almost no attention to where or near whom. |
Everyone! Of course, Gabriel wasn't left alone with his thoughts for long. The space surrounding him quickly began filling up, and he glanced lazily from face to face. It was amusing, actually. A Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin... It was a great Hogwarts' representation. Naturally, Adi and Puck had resolved to speak first. because they were both talkers, but Gabe simply stared at them in response; nodding somewhat for the It was quite an event, wasn't it? bit. Simple acknowledgment. It had been a long day. He was tired. He just wanted to sit here. Mostly.....but that would've been rude, wouldn't it? He'd have seemed like he was ignoring them...but that wasn't the case. "Hey." . SPOILER!!: Zhenya! ...and Zhenya got a bit more...since he'd just interviewed her a few weeks before, and she'd been very understanding and patient with his awkwardness. Also, she wasn't being loud...or overly happy. It'd been a traumatizing few weeks. How could anyone be happy? "...I think there's still going to be a speech. It wouldn't be the same...otherwise." He was being quiet, yes. ...and being cuddled. Who had sneak!cuddled him? Head lulling to the side, Gabe caught sight of Dot and presumed she was the culprit. That Dot... She, in return, got a tired smile. |

Something was up with the Thundercloud Thornton. She leaned over and put her blanketed head on his shoulder. "Get marshmallows and I'll share my blanket with you." |
SPEECH time Well, the event had wound down and Annie had made herself one (1) s'more so far. She wanted another, but while her first was still digesting and the students were still wandering down to the bonfire, she decided to steel herself up for her final end-of-term speech. Her voice magically magnified as usual, the redhead began with a simple, "Good evening, Hogwarts." She waited for eyes and ears to focus on her. "I would like to start with some congratulations for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff: the former won the House Cup points race, and the latter are our Gobstones champions for this school year. Let's have a round of applause for those hardworking and high-achieving Lions and Badgers, and a round of applause for our Prefects and House Elves who have put together this great event!!!" She led the applause and followed it up with a big smile. "Congratulations are also in order for us, Hogwarts, for we successfully completed the map we started last term AND we beat back the acromantula onslaught as a team! In the wake of that event, I would like to also announce that I will be stepping down as Headmistress at the end of this term. I have new opportunities knocking at my door and it is time for me to hand over the Head's office to Professor Botros." Where was Ab, eh? She took a moment to wave at him in the dusk. "I have enjoyed my nine terms here as Headmistress and teaching Herbology this past term has just been the icing on the cake. As much as I will miss this place, and miss you all as students," well, some of them, "I will still be involved in Hogwarts' future as the proud parent of an incoming student. So on that note, I wish the best of luck to everyone leaving this school, and continued success to everyone staying. Hogwarts will always be here to welcome us home, should we wish to come and visit one day. Now let's all enjoy some s'mores, relax under the stars, and have a great night's sleep tonight! The train leaves bright and early tomorrow morning!" And she was certainly looking forward to seeing it off! On that note, Annie let out a bright sigh of relief and moved forward to mingle with the students and roast another marshmallow. |
Quote:
Marshmallows. Hm. While he wasn't necessarily in the mood for either sweets or company, part of him wondered if partaking in both might help with this little bit of 'headed home' funk. Still not moving his head, he simply shifted his gaze over to the snacking supplies "Sure. I can do that," he said. "Do you want anything else? Or just marshmallows?" Would she roast them? Or just eat them? |
Headmistress and Thornton Quote:
Quote:
But it was not to be, because the fellow ginger was leaving. "And sticks, Thorny. We want to roast them until they can't be roasted any more. Destruction of sugary goodness does a body good." In the meantime, she was going to go see the Headmistress. Dot sidled up to fellow ginger with an unsure little smile. "Headmistress? It'll be real sad that you have to go, but I'll make sure the gingers are represented while you're gone. And I'll wear extra pink so people remember you. And if you want, I can keep an eye on your kid and make sure he's okay. I think redheads have to stick together, 'cause no one else watches out for us." Just saying. |
and mention of the speech Quote:
As she walked away, Thornton let the speech sink in. The Headmistress was leaving. For a split second, Thornton wondered if his parents would welcome or disapprove of the change. Would it bet yet another summer of wondering if he'd be back? With a resigned sigh, the Ravenclaw pushed himself up to his feet and made his way over to the s'mores supplies. Claiming two sticks and an entire bag of marshmallows, he started to head back before hesitating. Yeah, they needed chocolate and graham crackers too. |
SPOILER!!: Tia and also smushing the speech into this Honestly, Zander had wished he could just stay in the pool for the entire event. Plus he had been in the water the entire time doing his job at the end of the slide, so his toes and fingers were looking real pruny. And it felt like his hair and swim trunks would never dry off. Having forgotten a towel, he opted to hold his shirt instead of trying to wear it for the moment being. Of course he was planning to dry off with the fire which is where he was currently headed over to. Not many people had made it over yet, which was strange... But they'd have to come soon right? Because there was a speech coming along any minute now. He automatically looked for Sophie, but she must've still been wrapping things up at her post.... He ought to say goodbye to Gabe, though he never really got close to the Ravenclaw. And there was Puck who got a proper smile. And Adi and Benny too for that matter. But Zander decided to go sit by Tia. Because firstly, she looked lonely. And secondly, had she even been at Hogwarts this year? Zander felt like he hadn't seen her at all... Probably because Fifth Year and all. "Hey," he smiled as he sat down in a chair around the fire wishing that he had grabbed some smore supplies before sitting down. "How did OWLs go?" But before he could say much more... SPEECH. O___________O TRUEBRIDGE SAY WHAT NOW? She was leaving???? She was leaving!!!! Ahem. Zander tried not to show too much excitement because... Well, firstly that'd probably be frowned upon and secondly... Actually no that was the only reason. Truebridge clearly hated him after last term so her leave would mean that they'd get a new herbology Professor who didn't hate him yet. Merlin. Forget the Groundskeeper curse, the herbology curse was real. Only because no one could do as great a job as Bentley did. <3 <3 <3 Ahem. Turning back to Tia, the blonde looked over with wide eyes. "Merlin, can't believe she's gonna leave after all these years." Well no actually, he could. "Guess I don't blame her though, after this years mess with the acromantulas and all..." The woman did get taken into the woods and almost died. Yeah. That happened. ... Uh. Well sort of miss you, Truebridge. Heh. |
Headmistress Truebridge was leaving? Puck raised an eyebrow, glanced around and tried to scope out what people’s reactions were. Oh she was pretty sure that she knew Zander probably wasn’t the saddest person ever at this news….and well, neither was she really. Truebridge never really liked her after last term and well since the whole she called her Professor thing. What? She was a Professor AND a Headmistress at the same time. Still, she gave the former Headmistress and sorry smile, “it’s been a pleasure Headmistress,” she muttered even though she knew she wouldn’t hear her. Puck did send Benny a nod when he said hey to the group and then turned to look over to Zander a bit of a smirk on her face. Oh yeah she was going to have to squeal with him later about this change! No more walking on eggshells with the Headmistress eh? Eh? Well, maybe Botros wasn’t happy about last term but he might not end up having them fired for things…even if they had helped with the whole expelling the spiders thing. |
SPOILER!!: Gabe Zhenya sighed. She knew it would be too much to hope there wasn't a speech. But... true. "You're right. Not the same." But it wasn't the same, was it? It was the last night at Hogwarts. "Are you..." she started to say, but wasn't sure how to finish. Okay? Prepared? Sad? No, she wasn't going to pretend to assume what he was thinking but there was probably a dark cloud over most of the seventh years. And then the Headmistress got up for her speech. Zhenya pulled her knees up to her chest and tried to focus on her breathing. Zhenya cheered for the Lions and the Badgers. She was happy the two houses had won the house cup and the gobstones cup, but her smile just wouldn't spread very far, try as she might. So it was true, she was stepping down her role as Headmistress. And Professor Botros was taking over. Well, if she had to leave, Zhenya was glad Professor B was taking over. She wondered whether he would keep up with Ancient Runes or step down from that. Not that it really mattered. Zhenya remembered, with a pang, that she wasn't going to be there. And then the speech came to an end, leaving a slightly more empty spot inside. She quickly wiped at her cheeks, making sure they were dry. |
Pretend Henric is already there.hehe. Henric couldn't believe the headmistress was leaving! What? Why? After all the years Hogwarts had been through, she was going to leave them now? Why everyone was leaving this term...it made him sad. Hogwarts wouldn't be the same here without Truebridge around, he would bet his galleons He sighed as he munched on his marshmallows in silence. His head of house and runes professor Botros was going to take over her |
Ah, nothing better than a nice warm cup of tea after a long day of dunking his friends under the water, pushing several in and just generally having a SPLASHING time. Having gone off to make his tea, Benzi found that with the increasing darkness and the multitude of students milling about, he had no idea where any of his friends were. Oh well. He’d find them soon enough. The seventeen year old took his seat close to the large bonfire and sipped his tea as he waited for something interesting to happen when the Headmistress began her speech. Good timing, Truebridge. … She was leaving? Wow, spiders must have done quite a number on her. Brow high, Benzi looked over to Professor Botros who would be their Headmaster next term. He hadn’t had much interaction with the Headmistress, which was never really a bad thing when you think about it, but he did think she brought a unique… feminine energy to the school that he’d liked. And Suri would have definitely liked her too, though Suri would probably love Botros as well. Three odd months from now and she’d be right here with him, little baby Serena all grown up and going to Hogwarts. How strange. He sent up a silent prayer to the powers that be that she won’t be sorted into Ravenclaw. 1. He really didn’t need her in the common room spying on him and reporting back to their mother, and 2. that bloody kneazle, may it rot in hell. Sighing, he put down his tea and reached for a s’more. Very content with being alone for now, Benzi’s mind drifted off to aimless thoughts about his last proper summer holidays. He needed to make them count. |
everyone? hehe hi Bunz, too Text Cut: Speech! Awww, Annie was up to give her very last speech. Botros, who was uncomfortable sitting on the ground next to the students, laid his cane across his lap and listened to the headmistress. He clapped here and there when winnings and victory were announced, then nodded understandably at the rest of the speech. He smiled modestly and waved back at her. |
A stare from Gabe. Did it unfaze the Adster? Nope, it didn't. He simply grinned and patted his brainy friend. "Going to miss having you around, Gabe. You made a great prefect... and Ravenclaw.'' Just FYI. How had he missed Tia? It wasn't until he heard Puck greet the other Claw did Adi grin and wave in her direction. "Heya, Puck!'' She got his cheery grin in return. Seemed like all the prefects' were in a good mood. Yep, job well done, guys. "Nah but thanks. I happen to like the chilliness.'' Not that there was much with the huge fire. Oooh, plans? Adi had plenty of those. "I've got plenty for both the summer and the future. It would take me all night to tell you about them.'' Hehe. ''But Puck, you would probably be bored by then by me and said plans.'' Adi fixed his eyes on Zhenya after waving to Zander and Henric. Whenever he saw her and Beverly, he would get the bad case of the sads. He didn't say anything to Zhenya right then partly because she was talking to Gabe and partly because Benny had joined him. "Hi, Dragon. You know, I almost suggested using your firey breath to light the bonfire.'' Sniggering, Adi fell back on his blankie to stare up at the stars. But not before Queen Dot arrived and patted him on the shoulder. "Hello, Dot!'' The Hufflepuff remained on his back even when he heard his beloved Professor Headmistress starting on his speech. Yes, yes! Congrats, Hufflepuff on winning the Gobstones Cup! They did have the most awesome Team. Adi was proud of them. VERY proud. And congrats as well to Gryffindor. Always on top of the academic things these last few years. Mighty impressive. Adi closed his eyes. It had been fun and tiring day. He just wanted to slee- WAAAAAH? He sat up quickly, training his eyes on Truebrdge. Surely he had sand in his ear again as he had thought when Lux had told him she was leaving. Why was everyone leaving? He was going to miss the woman who had always been good to him. Her Herbology classes too. She was such a pro at that subject. "Why is everyone leaving?'' he asked rhetorically to Benny and watching as his Head of House struggle to rise. They would be needing a new deputy Head... and no other Professor better NOT be leaving! Especially not Culloden, Cassie, Dakest, Bellaire and Glendower. And Mr K. |

"Hey," she smiled weakly, but before she could answer about her exams, Truebridge began her speech. And it seemed the Headmistress was leaving?! Well that was just going to be different but at least her replacement was someone who she knew and liked. Not to mention he taught quite the fascinating subject. "I ... what exactly happened? I mean I know there was an acromantula fight and all... but, " she bit her lower lip with uncertainty. "Anyway, I hope owls went well, but can we please not talk about them. I've been like a nervous wreck all year. And well..." she looked over at him with her brown eyes sadly. "I think I've missed you. I've missed your support, your encouragement, your ...lips." She whispered the last word and quickly averted her gaze, in which she spotted a smile and wave from someone else. Adi. Of whom she gave a brief smile in return. |
SPOILER!!: current state: incredibly sorry about him Zander saw Puck's look and returned it with his own, but he was quickly pulled out of his thoughts, instead his attention turned to the girl sitting beside him.... What did she mean what happened? The school was only under attack and they were all going to die and the whole place almost fell down into bits and pieces, "Oh nothing much, y'know just another average year at Hogwarts and all." They were all going to die and everyone was in danger. So just another typical day at magic school. As she went on to explain that she didn't want to speak about OWLs, Zander nodded his head in perfect understanding. Yeah, he got that. He still didn't' want to talk about his own and it had been a whole year. Like Zander pls chill thanks. And well speaking of no chill, HIS LIPS?????? W H A T ? ? ? ? HIS LIPS??????? Was he choking? Yes. Maybe. You know when you take a fish out of water and it just sort of sputters around. That was Zander. A sputtering fish out of water. HIS LIPS???? Oh merlin, he was going to be sick. Because this meant she didn't know. Ay yo, any acromantulas out there that aren't dead yet? Zander wants to volunteer himself for tomorrow's lunch. The Gryffindor was panicking. Well not really panicking. His eyes just got really big and he was tugging at his collar... of a shirt he wasn't exactly wearing at the moment. Was it just him or was the fire really making things super hot just about now? Merlin, everyone else was sweating this much too, right? Quote:
"SophieBrownisactuallymygirlfriendnow DO YOU WANNA ROAST SOME S'MORES?" Because Zander was like 20 steps ahead of you there. Already shot up out of his seat and everything. Nailed it. And if not option number 4 was always a possibility. Heard Canada has great moose this time of year. |
SPOILER!!: everyone is awesome Puck just continued to watch the fire and the interactions between the students milling about. Adi and Gabe were hilarious, mainly Adi’s ever present optimism made him even more epic. Note to self – hang with Adi more. He’s cool. Especially since his niceness was contagious. “The chilliness is great, I just…I run cold. I’ve never told anyone this but secretly” she paused a cheeky little smirk taking the place of her smile, “secretly I’m an iceburg half iceburg. My mum was a witch.” She even added a wink at the end before she turned her attention over to where Zander and Tia were sitting. “Oh most definitely – sorry I’m a bit distracted today” she smiled and then watched as something Tia had said had caused Zander to sputter. Must. Not. Laugh. Must. Refrain. From. Laughing. “Zander y’okay?” She muttered quietly intime to hear him explain that he was dating Sophie – only the cutest most disgustingly cute couple ever. Seriously, if Sophie hurt Zander Puck would definitely put some serious serious hexes on the girl….even though she actually didn’t hate or even dislike her. It was just, Zander was her friend. She didn’t want to see her friends get hurt. Simple. “S’more sound great,” Puck grinned and shifted closer to where Tia was sitting, “I’ve got chocolate in my bag if ya need it” she explained and pushed a little backpack full of back-up-treats over toward the girl. Who needed backup when the guy she obviously must have liked was dating someone else. The girl needed a this isn’t actually a breakup survival kit. Cupcakes. Icecream. Chocolate. Favorite movies. You know like what she ahd made for Bella when the Chance thing tanked. |
Him lighting the bonfire? The bestie knew him so well. "Oh really..." Benny mused absently at the idea. "Would have been fun." His dragon-breath was indeed fun to use, and a cool aspect of replicating the traits of the creature he so adored. But alas, it was done by the professors or staff, probably by a simple incendio, and all the fun was taken all out of the equation. Boo to that. Now they just had the chance to enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling inside created by the heated glow on the outside. Benny supposed that was good enough for him. Oh look...the speech. Benny turned his attention to the headmistress as she made her appearance, gathering everyone's attention for the one end-of term feast tradition that was going to take place. Claps for his house for the winning of the house cup and snaps for Hufflepuff house for their gobstone's win. It appeared to be a good term all around, minus the time of ultimate fear and destruction. But then his thoughts were pulled away at other news. Truebridge was leaving....and Botros was going to take over. Now that was going to be a switch for their final year, the lion glancing over at Adi to see his reaction to the news, especially his head's promotion. Not that it was that big of deal for Benny given he hadn't much of a relationship with the departing woman. Angel though...Angel was going to be disappointed loosing another herbology professor. They seemed to be cursed like the groundskeepers. Benny almost looked for her out of habit as his thoughts turned before he pulled himself back. Nope...not going there. He turned back to see Puck give him a nod, mildly curious as to the reason. Did she finally register his presence? Benny nodded in return to acknowledge the gesture of his yearmate and prefect. Speaking of prefects...what was going on with Zander? |
A little bit of Botros. :3 Sophie Brown had been Next term. Next term was going to be THEIR term. It was time. Sipping at her hot chocolate, Sophie continued paying the headmistress just half of her attention - she was listening to what the woman was saying, but she was also letting her gaze wander over those who were on the blankets, those who were congregated in random groups, and her gaze had just fallen over on Zander and Tia, when-- the headmistress announced her RESIGNATION? Whaaaaaaaaaat? For REAL? But... wait - BOTROS WAS GOING TO BE HEADMASTER? AND Truebridge was leaving in the wake of the acromantula attack... but she was sending one of her children here? What in Merlin's name... Sophie wasn't even going to try to understand, no. Information OVERLOAD, but more than anything, Soph suddenly had something URGENT TO SAY. So, once the speech was over, the sixth year made a beeline for Botros, who was just getting up and seemed to be headed for the Headmistress - but the Ravenclaw hurried up beside the Runes professor before he got there and excitedly whispered to him, "All hail King Botros." And then she hurried away, some hot chocolate spilling out of her mug and onto the grass as she went to find one of those big cozy blankets to wrap up in before she'd go join her boyfriend, a huge smile on her face the whole way. |
People were talking and speeches were being made and everyone was milling about, but, as usual, Toby had sort of forgotten to pay any attention. His mind was on the food, mainly, and on getting himself a good giant-worthy pile of supplies for s'mores, so he could spend the rest of tonight essentially gorging himself. That way he didn't hve to think of other things, see? That was the best part about building your own food. Took your focus away from less appealing things. So while everyone around him was listening and reacting to the speech, curling up under blankets and probably making he most of those last moments before the summer break or before graduating entirely... Toby was busy making the biggest s'more known to man, fully intending to eat the whole thing in one go. Death by s'more. This was an art form. |
Zhenya *didn't quote* . . Gabe was distracted when the Headmistress stood and began making her speech...and to be honest, he wasn't all that surprised by her quitting. She'd almost been an Acromantula meal. Who, in sound mind and body, would want to stay after all that emotional distress? If he hadn't been graduating, Gabe felt absolutely positive that he wouldn't be making a return. ...but he had graduated. Yay. Lazily looking back towards the Slytherin girl, Gabriel shrugged; having mentally completed the sentence. He was fine. Completely. Just ready to be on the train home. Yawn. |
