The fifth year was in an amazing mood today. It felt so great to be back at Hogwarts and to be honest she was getting bored with being home and even hanging out with friends. Diagon Alley and other places just weren't as fun as it was suppose to be in the summer. Emmylou walked around the corridors before remembering that they were get two new professors this term, she had heard it from her grandmother and her Aunt Raeanne. Emmylou wore her new jean button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the middle of her elbows, she had the shirt tucked into her white skirt with some bright blue polka dots on it and yellow flats to match. She wandered around the corridor sometime before remembering one classes were getting new professors. The she remembered that one of them was charms so the other one had to be muggle studies. Emmylou was alright in charms just about as good as she was in muggle studies., she could get by but she wasn't exactly the greatest student for it. She was smart but there were just some subjects that didn't interest her, bored her or she just didn't understand that subject. Emmylou walked into the new professors seating area, it was really pretty and simple but in a really good way. She really liked it! She didn't know when the professor would show up so she took the opportunity to take a seat and take in everything there was to take in the room. She always found it very interesting that each professor got to decorate everything in their office and the seating areas the way they wanted it to be.

So new Charms Professor. He seemed interesting. So time to see what he was like and see if he was lazy. Those types of people were the best. Dante walked put to the door chewing on an apple. Got to eating healthy every once in a while.

Knock, Knock. and a couple more knocks to the door just for the fun of it. Maybe even made a song out of the knocking. Then he flopped down in a chair and continued chewing on his apple waiting.

Maybe this charms guy was napping. Naps were cool.

The kitchens were a far way down. Was he the only one to notice that? Sure, it could have been worse--he could have gotten hired to teach something in the towers which would have put his office even further away but third floor was still a lot to ask from a man that would spend his entire day lounging around in one place if allowed. Despite the distance, however, he did make it to the kitchen and snagged himself an extra apple for the walk back up. This he munched on, his other hand buried in his pocket as he made his way back up.

Maddox slowed upon approaching his seating area and noticing a student sitting there. Had she been there long?

"What can I do for you Miss....?" Without having started lessons he was still hopelessly lost on all but one name. Wow. Also, this was a really good apple. Crunch.

Believe it or not, Maddox had heard the first knock...and the second--and you know what? He happened hear the third and fourth and the whole rhythm that went with the knock. Of course. Silly him for believing the children would be able to read the sign left on his door. What was he thinking?

With a heavy sigh the man shoved away from his desk, keen to get to the door before whoever it was got into an encore because then he'd accidentally silence them and lock them in a room for the rest of the day. Accidentally of course. Maddox poked his head out, having swung the door open to see no one in particular standing at the door itself.

Spotting the boy on one of the comfy chairs, he leaned against the door frame and fixed him with a look. "Not a fan of reading, huh?" Seriously, the sign was RIGHT THERE.

These chairs were pretty nice. Dante could lounge in them all day if he wanted to. But he would not. Since there were still Professors that did not know him. Like this one for instance.

Oh, there was the Professor Dude.

Just as he thought, not a reader. There was something to be done for children like that. First, with a flick of hie wand he got the sign flashing to catch the boys attention and with a swish he charmed it to speak. Now whenever anyone approached it would read the words for the visually and mentally impaired among the student body. All your doing kid, should be ashamed.

"That should take care of that."

As for the request to come up, the man eased off the wall to make way for him to pass but not without making a face. Kid germs. He got enough of those at home thank you . "You can keep it, I'll fetch my own at some point." Why half eaten? Why not nicely polished and ready to offer up as a gift??? "Come in."

"Hello." He replied, biting into his apple again. There was something just a bit off with this one but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. The accent maybe...or it could be something else but whatever the case he wasn't given much time to process it because she'd gone right into introductions when he asked what he could do for her. Make no mistake, this answered nothing but sure, he'd go with it.

"It's a pleasure Miss Duchannes." Ah Gryffindor, great house that one. "Would you care to come in?" Or they could stay out here. He had an apple, he wasn't bothered.

He needed an expert.


And it would be crystal clear just the sort of expert Cutty Mordaunt was in the midst of upon his wait in the lounge area outside of the Charms Professor's office. Cutty got up and gave three evenly spaced knocks against the Charm's Professor's door before taking a seat on one of the cushions and began to smell...hot dogs? No, some sort of resin. The smell vaguely reminded him of the parfumerie near his grandmother's house.

He sat patiently, turning to take in the space and garner what he could of their new Charms teacher. He had, at least, an aesthetic sense with a leaning toward clean. Good. The spell Cutty was working on, he felt right in line with both. Brut!

It wasn't the first knock that woke him up, or the second (though that one helped) but the third. With that one Maddox lazily peeked an eye open, stretching on his comfy, cushy pillow in the corner of the room with a lazy swish of his tail. What time was it and how long had he been sleeping? Ugh, probably not long enough but the knock said he was needed so all thoughts of curling up and going back to sleep were tossed aside as the cat stretched and stretched back into the figure of a man.

Maddox worked out the small knots in his neck before pulling the door open and stepping into his seating area. Give him a minute, he was still trying to figure out what year it was. "Yes? Yes. Here. How may I help you...?" Other kid who's name he also did not know. Hello.

There was a new Charms Professor, so Lux thought it would be a good idea to stop by and say hello. Shame Professor Fuller was gone because she had rather liked him, but this new teacher would be awesome as long as he wasn't anything like Bellaire.

Heading over to the waiting area, she spotted Cutty and the new Professor "Hello, Cutty," she said to the Slytherin with a smile before turning her attention to the Charms Professor. "Hello, sir. I am Lux Carrington and I wanted to welcome you to Hogwarts."

Emmylou was nervous because meeting new people made her like that, she just didn't want people to judge her in anyway possible or not liking her and maybe she was just a little too excited about meeting a new professor. "As for the what you can do, I'm just here to welcome you to Hogwarts because my third year was my very first year here and how overwhelming it can be." Did that answer his question? She didn't mean to forget to answer him. It was an accident.

"Yes, I'll come in." She said with a smile.

Cutty stood when the Charms Professor answered the door. It was then that a floral note began wafting through the waiting area. He realized as he took a moment to sniff the air behind him that it was not something which leaked from the office, but the waiting area itself. For it was not present in front of, but behind him.

"I..." And then Lux Carrington happened. Cutty put on his patience hat. As corruptible and easily influenced as Lux Carrington was, he didn't want company during his exchange with the professor as it concerned a patent-pending idea he'd been working on. "Oh, hello, Lux." He returned the greeting behind a manure-eating grin.

"Professor, I need a professional. I've been wehrkin' on soomthin' and I was hopin' yew could help me refine it. Privately." He stated his reason for visit with the same tone of politeness he used when speaking with Professor Bellaire.

He didn't remember them having those while he was here but then he might not have known even then considering he'd been more active and out there and not at all inclined to stay in greeting Professors. Come to think of it, that might very well have been why he wasn't aware of such a thing.

"Well thank you Miss Duchannes." He said, moving forward to open the door so they could both enter. "Very thoughtful. I know how overwhelming it can be, returning it's just a little different." Maddox waved his free hand in a gesture for her to enter.

If he was still a bit sleep laden he might have been wondering where the second student suddenly came from but by now his eyes and his mind were adjusting, returning to their sharper glory. "Hello." He greeted the second. Friends, they were probably friends but coming to visit at the same time...? Sure, whatever happened to float their boats.

"I'll be glad to help if I can." He looked between the two. Of course the seating area was comfy too but he preferred going back inside. "Why don't you both come in?" Then he could be welcomed and act professional and everyone would win.

The Charms Professor was new. So was Nicole. She personally thought it was her duty to go to the new professor's office for a visit. He was also an Animagus - she looked the word up! - and the girl also wanted to learn what she had to do in order to be one herself. Most importantly, she brought an apple for the professor. This was to make up for not bring one and pretty much breaking a rule in her first lesson.

When she reached the door of Professor Quigley, she noted the sign outside and knocked once... too quietly. Nicole knocked again, this time louder. Did she break another rule by knocking twice? Urgh, life at Hogwarts was so difficult. She sat down on a chair and started reading while she waited for the professor.

Gregoire couldn't believe he was about to do this. Even after all the trouble he was in at the feast. Though the new Charms Professor didn't seem to notice that. And, he seemed pretty chill too. The Snake actually enjoyed having Professor Quigley. He was certainly an interesting person. Also, he was just the person he could use to answer his question! Granted, what he wanted to learn was more along the lines of Transfiguration, but considering the fact that Professor Bellaire knew he was in trouble wouldn't really help. Also, he wasn't sure that she could help him out. Gregoire needed a special person to answer this question. Professor Quigley, just so happened to be that special type of person.

Walking up to the door of his office, Gregoire looked at the sign on the door. Well, looks like the Slytherin fourth year wouldn't be banging as loud as he could, that was for sure. The Professor had to be in a very good mood for this to go well. The boy, gave a quick tap on the door that wasn't extremely obnoxious, but it wasn't soft either. It was...just right.

To make sure the Professor would be happy, Gregoire took a fresh, shiny red apple out of his bag. Not a blemish about this apple. The red was really glossy, and there wasn't a single bruise at all on it. But just in case, the dirty blonde revealed a tissue from his backpack and started to wipe the apple clean as he waited for the Professor to answer the door.

To say he'd been tremendously busy would have been a gross overstatement, very much so. Having for once gotten his lesson planning done ahead of schedule, Maddox had settled at his desk to compose an owl for his wife. She'd be interested to know how he'd been getting on so far, amused even.

But just as he dipped the quill into the ink, he heard a faint tap at his door. Might have been nothing and he was content to thing so until he heard another, more distinguishable knock that alerted him to the fact he had a visitor. Well he supposed this would have to wait then.

Maddox pushed away from his desk and with a lazy stride made his way to the door. Prying it open, he found Miss Holloway seated there and reading...? The Professor cleared his throat, assuming she'd come to see him and wasn't simply using his seating area as a lounge for relaxed reading. "Hello Miss Holloway."

Where was it?

Not there....not over there...The Professor paused somewhere near the top of his closest bookshelf to eye the entire collection for a moment. He could have been SURE he'd seen that book just yesterday and books didn't just vanish...with the exception of that invisible book but even then it hadn't vanished, simply gone out of plain sight. There was a difference.

The knock at the door forced him to abandon his search in the moment with a sigh. Visitors, he got those sometimes and was still getting used to that fact.

The man pulled open the door. Oh. "Good day Mister Bastion." He'd ask if he wanted something but that was evident enough with the visit.

When the door opened, Gregoire stopped wiping down the apple with the tissue. Now he was holding in his hand a very shiny apple. One that was almost like picking it off the tree from an orchard yourself. The apple had been washed twice before taking it here to the Professor, and wiped down good since it was in his backpack after all. But it was in a part of his backpack where the Snake was sure it wouldn't get damaged.

"Good day Professor." He replied back to the man. "I have a question to ask you. But first..." Holding out his hand "...would you care for an apple? It's fresh." Gregoire told him with the apple in the center of his right hand. Hopefully this would put the Professor in a good mood. Also Gregoire was hoping it would score him a few extra brownie points.

In his left hand, he stuck the tissue into a part of his bookbag that was meant for a water bottle. This way it could be out so that way Gregoire wouldn't forget to throw it away soon. He briefly fixed his dirty-blonde hair, which, was starting to get a bit long if you asked him. The fourth year needed to also look his best. Presentation was always a good thing that you would want to do. If you presented yourself like a dirty old bum, people would probably think your a mad man. But if you presented yourself, nice and clean, they would tend to have a better reaction to you when you would ask a question.

What did you bring catman as a welcome gift? Cassie was thinking about this as she made her way to the charm's professor's office. She liked to welcome people, but she usually just did that at the feast. This time though she HAD to go to his office. After his fabulous display, though she was still embarrassed, of turning into a cat her brain would not let her rest without thinking about how she needed him for her first lesson. It would be perfect!

So making her way finally to the man's door she had an assortment of cookies and brownies, though she had some catnip treats in her bag in case he did like those when he changed. She just hoped Aries and Gemini hadn't broken into them yet. Goodness those two could be ridiculous with their treats.

Adjusting the plate to her one hand she knocked with the other.

His eyes locked onto the apple, even as the boy proceeded to speak. Was that for him? During class he could hope as much but outside was a different story. Afterall that one Slytherin boy had come with an apple but it was for himself and half eaten; talk about a disappointing day.

"I'd love one." The Professor replied, nicking the shiny apple from the boy's hand with a look of perfect contentment. Imagine biting into this. Merlin. The thought had him excited, nothing to be done about that.

Oh but..."You said you had a question. Would you care to come in?" In the event the answer was yes, Maddox stepped aside clearing the way for him to enter. Apple brought, he was in a good mood, let the questions begin.

He hadn't been sleeping, not yet anyway. There was still a little to be done which made such things impossible however this didn't prevent him from casting longing looks at the fluffy cushion in the corner. Soon they could be reunited.

Knock knock.

Though perhaps a little later than he'd first anticipated. Maddox heaved himself out of his chair and made his way to the door, wondering if it could have been another student with questions. Curious lot this bunch were. It seemed like every day another one of them had a question about something--even when it happened to have nothing to do with Charms.

Oh, but not a student. "Cassi--" Pause. What was that smell? Without really thinking, the man took a step closer to the Divination Professor openly taking a whiff of the air. Maddox wasn't always happy for the heightened sense brought on by the near fail in his animagus training but he didn't mind right now. Oh no, not at all. "D'you....d'you smell that?"

Seeing him answer the door Cassie smiled, but it soon faltered when he stopped suddenly with her name and seemed distracted. Was something wrong? She looked around as he stepped closer not sure what was going on, but soon smiling again and lifting the plate. "I brought you some welcome cookie and brownies, but don't worry the elves made them not me." She was learning, but still wasn't all that great to be giving them away as gifts.

Stilling looking a bit concerned, but smiling at the same time she adjusted her bag on her shoulder. "I was hoping to possibly chat for a few minutes if you are free." Hopefully ask for a favor as well. It would be so perfect if she could get him to come, though he was a very busy man so if he couldn't she'd understand. The excitement of just thinking about her lesson made the blonde want to give snaps, but since her hands were full she just bounced a bit.

Well sure...he smelled the brownies and cookies too...but..."Not that smell." It took a moment for him to grab hold of himself at which point the man stepped back with a small smile as he accepted the plate. "Thank you though." The scent still played at his nose but Maddox willed himself to ignore it, grasping at any other scent wafting through his seating area as a result of the charms set into place. "It's just...I could have sworn I smelled...."

But it didn't matter. "Yeah. sure, come in." He made way for her to enter, hoping to leave the scent behind them once he closed the door. Just don't think about it Maddox. All he had to do was focus on the scent of the cookies. Should be easy enough, they were still fresh.

She flipped over another page of her book, focused in the story plot to notice much of her surroundings. Nicole realized that there was a possibility the professor was not in his office, but did not have much time to think about it as she heard a man clearing his throat.

She shut her book and stood up, seeing the professor in front of her. She did not notice his presence until then. Living as a half-cat must have had an impact on him moving silently. "Hi, Professor Quigley," Nicole greeted. She was glad he remembered her name from the lesson, and she had no need to introduce herself again. "I know people do this a lot, and you could be tired of receiving them, but I got an apple for you." She held the big red apple out for the professor. She washed it herself down in the kitchen! Since she had read that this new professor liked apples. Cinna just opted to bring him an apple instead of cinnamon rolls like she had for the rest of the professors. Although she had debated on making him a special batch of apple cinnamon cinnamon rolls. Just for him.

Professor Charming. She could find out if he would like that and make a batch for him later. The fifth year knocked on the door and waited. Though it did seem like he may have been fairly busy at the moment.

In another minute or two he might have shut his door and left the Ravenclaw to her silent reading but the girl was attentive enough, slamming the book shut and standing with her attention now on him. Huh. Must have been a grabber.

His eyes moved to the apple as it was presented and a smile graced his face. "One the contrary," it moved into a grin as he nicked said apple, "this is one practice I fear I'll never grow tired of, thank you." And was it any wonder? This apple was superb. Granted they were all superb so long as they didn't have dents, blemishes, bruises or worms but this was at the peak of perfection. He liked apples that way. These students knew what they were doing.

"It's perfectly fine, Miss Holloway. I hadn't specified when I would have wanted the apples. Would you like to come in?" Or was she only here to deliver an apple? Students could be a little odd at times so nothing would surprise him.

Admittedly, the basket of apples was the first thing to greet the Professor as he walked into his seating area. The Gryffindor, he noticed after but Merlin, that was a lot of apples and if it was anything to do with the trend he noticed rising then those were for him and this was possibly the best way to return to one's office after a walk around the grounds. This day was majorly improving by the second.

"Miss Campbell." He said in greeting, willing himself to focus on the student and not the gift that was likely his. "I trust you left some apples down in the kitchen?" Professor Charming. She could find out if he would like that and make a batch for him later. The fifth year knocked on the door and waited. Though it did seem like he may have been fairly busy at the moment.

Maddox was leaning against the back of his chair, facing the shelves of books. There was something he'd been meaning to check up on but standing here now, the man couldn't for the life of him remember what. A charm? That seemed likely but at the same time...not. There were no charms that needed double checking....so it must have been something else...?

The Professor was pulled from his thoughts by a knock at the door. It was the nail in the coffin of his concentration. At this point remembering would prove to be a vain hope. With a sigh, he abandoned the shoddy train of thought, instead opting to see who had come to pay him a visit.

"Ah, Miss Bayless, what can I do for you?" Was that an apple? Oh yes, yes it was. When they weren't all gathered in one place creating havoc and ruining his mood, these students weren't have bad--likeable even. Who'd have thought? Such a nice looking apple too.
