Congratulations on making it through your first few months of school without dying, lions! We may not be in first place for the House Cup, yet, but we have much to be proud of! For starters, an astronomical size congratulations to our Gobstones team on winning the first match of the season against Slytherin! Continue to perfect your aim (remember, we have gobstones set in the common room) and the Gobstones Cup shall be ours once again!

And speaking of Cups...it is not too late to gain momentum on the House Cup race! This term is shaping up to be a fierce competition between all four houses, but we all know who is the fiercest beast around these parts, right? Remember that all work and no play makes for stressed and burnt out lions - none of you are allowed to go prematurely supernova on me - so make sure to take some time out of your academic pursuits for something FUN. There are creatures to play with, duels to be had, and challenges to take head on!

As the infamous Captain Jean Luc Picard once said, "Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived." In light of recent school events, I invite you all to stop by my office should you find the need for grieve counseling or anything else you may need. It is especially in times like this that we must come together as a house and as a school to support one another. A reminder that there is a mandatory DADA lesson being held that I expect each of you to be at - I shall be present as well.

Remember, lions, "change is the essential process of all existence," so take advantage of this pivotal moments in time to examine yourself and your actions to see where change can be most advantageous to yourself, your friends, and your house.

We are in the home stretch now, Lions! This has been a difficult term for all of us in one form or another, but I am very proud of each and every one of you who has risen from the ashes of disaster like a phoenix and continued to succeed in the face of adversity. Remember to be there for each other - and support your housemates who will be cramming last minute for NEWTs and OWLs no doubt - and continue to push each other to be the best. WELL DONE YOU FIVE AND WELL DONE TOO ALL! Don't forget to have some fun between hitting the books. There is still time, although not much, to finish up the House Challenge if you have not done so already and I hear that spending time with creatures can help one relax.

As the term comes to a close, it is time for us all to take a moment to look back and reflect on the term. We may have stumbled a bit at the finish line, but lingering on the 'could have, should have, would have' is not only illogical...it is also demoralizing and thus counterproductive. So what did you accomplish this term? Take a moment to list 5 things you did and tuck that under your pillow for safe keeping. Despite Cup standings, you have done stellar jobs this term. For the most part. There is room for improvement for all and that is a FANTASTIC thing!
