The class hasn't changed this year too: the proper chairs with soft cushions are still there to sit and lean back on, and they are still charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are still one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm (a short hose to direct the water to the cauldron is on the white, porcelain shelf hung on the wall, in case it doesn't fit the washbasin).
Professor Cosgrach is sitting at his desk, looking a little tired but well otherwise. OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class HAS begun, so please don't post yourself late but pretend as if you've been here all the time. Potion Progress- 1 jobberknoll feather
- half a unicorn tail hair
- three leech head
- half a ginger root
- ten carrots
- a bunch of knotgrass
- one wormwood
- ten crow feathers
- one common spider
- two crocodile teeth
- Add the jobberknoll feather without any water or fire
- Lay half the unicorn hair onto the feather vertically.
- Add a litre of water
- Add the leech heads one by one
- With a metal stick, stir it clockwise for ten times (Clean the metal stick before and after using)
- Add half the ginger root
- Wait for two minutes
- Add ten cubes of ice all at once
- Wait until they melt and grate five of the carrots in the meantime. Add the ungrated ones at once, and sprinkle the grated ones
- Tie the wormwood around knotgrass and add them (If everything has been right, the steam will make you nauseous)
- Stir eleven times clockwise with wooden stick. Do clean it before using.
- Add two crow feathers. Stir once clockwise with metal stick. Add another two feathers and stir clockwise with metal stick again. Go on like this until all feathers are added. Do not stir after the last couple of feathers. (You don't have to remove metal every time to clean it - just keep it inside the cauldron until last feather is added.)
- Add the spider
- Add one crocodile tooth, wait until the potion grumbles, then add the second
- Wait until the potion turns your favourite colour (takes about 3 days)
- Colour: is the favourite colour of the person who's looking at it
- Effect: It makes you hate the first person you see, sharpens your tongue: you are very ready to point out the faults of that person
- The taste is bitter and will remain for a day
- Duration: Depends on the drinker - if they are prone to hatred, it'll be longer (roungly 3-5 hours)
- Effect on drinker: He/she will experience fatigue once the effect wears off

This class was probably the one he was going to have the most trouble getting to. All the way down from the tower on tiny legs, with a cauldron. Thornton shuffled in and promptly plopped (gently!) everything down at his desk.
He nodded to the professor. "Hello. Professor." Noticing that he was the first one there, he simply set about arranging his parchment, quill, book, and cauldron.

Her favorite class was up, you can bet your bum Beverly Wayne zoomed through the corridors to get there on time. Upon entering the classroom her eyes landed on Professor Culloden, an immediate grin crossed her face. Did he know he was her favorite? Because he was.
Making her way toward a seat at the front she waved at him, sending him a more cheery grin than shy. FAVORITE PROFESSOR HI. Calm down, Wayne.
She was cool. Totally was.
"Hello, Professor Culloden." She had stuff for him and questions but those would have to wait for a later time. "How do you do?" Look at her being all formal and...social. Nice good steps. Yes.

By the time he had made it down all the stairs to the lower levels of the castle and specifically the dungeons, Ben had nearly forgotten about the potion he had taken before leaving his dorms. But the liquid hadn't forgotten him for he wasn't exactly dreading the hated potions lesson. If anything he was downright chipper about it. At least happier then he would normally be about his least favorite class.
"Good morning Professor," he remarked almost cheerfully as he entered the potions lab and spotted the man. "Hey Adi..." Benny added with a smile, spotting his friend who was of course already there. Lucky Hufflepuffs for close to the dungeons. Taking a seat next to his bestie, he proceeded to empty out his bag of supplies onto the workstation to be prepared for the start of class.

Potions...
Cinnamon still wasn't so comfortable in this subject. It wasn't her really thing. Unlike her nana who taught potions at a Wizarding Uni. She also taught her when she was homeschooled so living up to that. Well it was hard. No blowing up the kitchen in that lesson. It just was not the Bayless way.
Any way she made the insanely long trek down to the dungeons to the potions class room. Finally she was there. Making her way into the room she waved at Professor C. "Hello Professor Culloden." He got a beamy smile too.
What were was everyone? Wait she was earlier than normal? She was never early especially for class. Well it's always time for a first. So she had her pick of seats. The back she was going to the back. Most of the time by the time she got to class the back was full. She plopped down in the comfy seat. And her bag into the one next to her she was saving this seat. Yes she was. Fairy girl or not she needed Bart to to help her get though this lesson.

Sapphire couldn't help but smile when she first entered the Potions classroom. Blue! A wonderful soft, light blue! Her favourite colour!
Thinking about how she had to use a lint roller before Astronomy class, Sapphire decided to use the washbasin here as well - in case both professors were particular about cleanliness. She liked the feeling of clean hands anyway. Still not knowing how to do charms of any kind, Sapphire used the water hose from the porcelain shelf.
After that was done, she noticed the professor and greeted him shyly. "Hello, Professor..." she trailed of, not yet knowing his name.
She gave him a small smile and then sat on one of the chairs up front. "I want one of these!" she thought immediately as she sat. It felt perfectly comfortable!

Emergerddddd!!! He'd been waiting for this! He has!!! Because Emily and Gavin taught him things about potions and so this would be a piece of cake, right? RIGHT?! Like, he had SOME background to help him... which was better than nothing. Save for the spell work, he'd helped brew heaps of things before, and Emily made sure he know how to use a blade. So with a spring in his step, and a grin plastered to his face, the first year Gryffindor walked swiftly through the dungeons and into the classroom's open door.
It was nowhere near as eerie in here than it was in other parts of the dungeons, and the blue was... nice enough. Not his favourite colour, but it would do. Hitching his bag up on his shoulder, Zeke continued to move to the front of the class, his happiness not at all tarnished by the lack of enthusiasm from the Professor.
"Hello Sir," he greeted politely as he claimed one of the FRONT ROW seats-- comfy one too. He wanted to be up close and personal for this. What was the dudes name again? He remembered seeing it on his timetable, but didn't know how to pronounce it, and his memory wasn't the best with these things, so he'd wait to attempt it. Placing his bag down, he started unpacking his things. Potions, come at him!

Potions was the class Eden was feeling iffy about. It might either be really easy for her, considering it was minimal wand stuff involved---or it could be just as hard because Potions as a subject was hard. Sure, she had taken it back at Durm, BUUUUT--she didn't take any of her classes seriously back there. She HAD to, here, if she wanted her grandparents involved..that was what her uncle said, so she was TRYING.
No familiar faces--okay--she grabbed a cushion on her own and just PLUNKED down, noticing instantly how AWESOME these were. So comfy. Nice. Would make potion-ing much less stressful, probably. She tucked some of her brown hair behind her ears and noticed the washing bins--oh--right--she would have to wash her hands and whatnot. Getting up, she made a TERRIBLE groaning noise because she had decided it would be SMART to jog yesterday. And not a light jog--a very heavy one, and she totally felt it in her BONES today. Blegh.
Washin' the haaaands, gettin' cleaaaan--she remembered the rhyme her Mam used to tell her so that she would wash her hands for a long time, the proper amount. She went back to her seat, wiping her wet hands on her robes, and relaxed once more. The Professor looked nice? WOULD HE BE THOUGH? Hmph. She just watched him...very closely...

Jasmine was looking forward to Potions class today. Potions had been one of her least favorite classes, but she had had a change of heart last year. She had actually enjoyed it last year and hoped that this year would be the same.
"Hello Professor Cosgrach", Jasmine said with a smile as she passed his desk. She hoped that he was OK because he wasn't looking as enthusiastic as usual. "Hello everyone", she said to her classmates.. Then Jasmine stopped to wash her hands because cleanliness was everything in Potions. Finally she found an empty seat and sat down, anxious for class to begin.

Norah wasn't sure whether she should be scared or excited for this one. She had definitely screwed up a few times last year, but then again she had been a FIRSTIE and now she was much better at these things. She smiled at Professor Cosgrach as she passed his desk and said, "Hello, professor," before making her way over to the wash basin and washing her hands. Might was well start the class off with a clean slate in every way, right?
Finding a seat, Norah sat down and pulled her materials out of her bag and waited patiently for the class to begin. At least cool stuff happened in potions, so even if she stilll wasn't that great at reading instructions the class wouldn't be a TOTAL loss.

Potions. How did Gabriel feel about potions?
Well, it was a factual subject that required exact measurements and careful note-taking. As a practice, Gabe enjoyed how precise it had to be. If he were at home (with his tutor), it would've been nothing for him to take the lesson notes and lock himself away to create whatever potion was in question on that day.
However...
Gabriel wasn't at home...and no matter how blue the walls were, or how comfortable the seats happened to be, he felt claustrophobic in the dungeons....and no matter how you dressed it up, they WERE still dungeons; and typically bad according to history. People DIED in them...
Breathing. He just needed to remember to breathe...and focus on the professor...like he had with Astronomy. Luckily, it wasn't a girl...Gabriel couldn't handle notes, doing well, focus, AND a girl teacher...Or, maybe he could...if they kept their distance..
Also, he sat somewhere in the middle...because back tables were full.

Potions was actually one of Chance's better classes. He didnt mind it one bit. What he did mind though was carrying a cauldron down to the dungeons all the way from the seventh tower. Because.... ow!
Chance was out of breath but still trucking when he reached the Potions classroom. Putting things on the desk and sitting into the chair that magically fit to his bottom, Chance looked over at the very tiredlooking Professor. he gave a smile and a nod. He was ready!

Potions class was awesome, end of story. This was one subject that AJ actually did pretty well in considering their wasn't a lot of wand action going on. Although her wand skills have improved since last year.
Those comfy chairs were calling her name, and the lion bypassed the sink because her hands weren't that dirty, okay? "Hello professor." She spotted Adi and Benny, and made her way over to the guys. "Hey Benny." Did he seem happy or what? AJ choose the seat on the other side of Adi. "Hey you," she said as she ran her hand through his hair not quite ruffling it.

The one thing about Potions was that there were no windows in this room, so Toby had never actually proclaimed any of the seats as his favourite like he did in all the other classes. This was good, though, because not having a favourite meant that he often moved all about the classroom to get the best vantage point (whereas in other classes... well... windows, for reasons).
The Hufflepuff entered the classroom with his bag slung over his shoulder. HE, of course, had NO IDEA what had happened with Soph and Culloden, and so gave the professor a happy little wave.
"Hi sir," Toby said, getting settled in any old seat that took his fancy, not paying attention to how far forward or back it was. He DID notice Culloden looked tired, but also knew it was impolite to point something like that out. So he set up stuff at his desk before sitting there and waiting.
Still. No fidgeting. YEP.

Layla didn't know why but she was quite excited for the potions lesson that she was heading down to. The walk was very long and tedious when holding the cauldron from the Ravenclaw common room but she got there with plenty of time to spare.
She entered the classroom offering the professor a small smile. She noticed other students washing her hands and so she did so too, running them under the tap before drying them off. She chose a seat in the middle of the classroom because she found it to be advantageous. She could see what others were doing whilst looking less shy than she would if she hid in the back of the room.
Although she was excited she was obviously nervous too. She'd never done anything like this before and she'd heard from her brother that the ingredients used were pretty controversial. That and it was quite a difficult subject to master. But she'd give it her best shot.
Being early meant she had to merely watch others entering and sit down. The space either side of her was empty but she wasn't exactly willing for someone to join her anyway.

Were his eyes deceiving him? Was that Benny? Already in classes? And that class being Potions, too which happened to be a class he wasn't fond of?  What was wrong with the Lion? Adi watched him greet the Professor and then as he made his way towards him. He maintained unabashed staring. Was it him or was Benny happy? Not that he wasn't happy usually. Benny just didn't go around projecting his emotions. "Hi. Are you okay?'' Adi was quite tempted to reached out towards Benny's forehead and check his temperature.
He was distracted by Jasmine. "Hey!" She got one of his waves and signature grin.
Then the girlfriend arrived. Adi's grinned happily at her. "Hello, hello.'' He let her run her hand through his hair. It didn't matter she didn't ruffle it. It was kind of messy already.

Austin walked into his favorite class, a smile on his face. He placed his bag on the ground next to his desk, and nodded at the professor. No matter how excited Austin got during class, talking to the professors wasn't something he wanted to do. Ever. Professors could easily fail you at a moments notice, and he really didn't want to say the wrong thing and get in trouble. Nope. Especially not when the professor was to his favorite class.
So, he pulled out a notebook and a quill and ink, in hopes that class started soon.

Potions. Yeah.
Phoenix was definitely going to blow something up. Not deliberately, he just... well... he couldn't DO potions. He tried. Usually. He just got distracted... and it wasn't like potions was something you could get distracted from and still be able to do.
Anyway. It was compulsory. So here he was. He'd de-glittered his outfit after Professor Glam had REPRESSED him, but he was totally rocking the look anyway. Even if it HAD required a few tweaks...
Phoenix found himself a seat and sat down, looking round the room and imagining it becoming some kind of video game. It might be one when you had to find something... Or... maybe you'd find a secret door and have to fight a monster or something and there'd be a treasure chest......
These chairs were really comfy... maybe it'd be some kind of relaxing area in the game where you did the talky bits, or the cinematics... hm.

Potions. Hady wasn't sure exactly what to make of potions yet except it was her real fathers favorite subject. Maybe that would help her out a little? She doubted it would but it was worth the thought.
Making her way into the classroom she looked around just as she had with the others. It seemed comfortable enough. Walking to the washbasin she used a bit of water from the hose and washed her hands really well. Whenever she cooked with her mother she always washed her hands first. Yeah this wasn't cooking but ingredients were used so clean hands were probably best.
After her hands were washed she found a seat at the front of the room. "Hello Professor." Hady greeted warmly with a happy smile before picking out a seat in the front row and settling down into it. Sighing contently at how comfortable it was she began setting her things up on the table in front of her. | |

He saw the notice about Potions class being moved to a later date, and this made Ethan more worried than necessary. Something was definitely UP with this man, and Culloden somehow refuses to tell him why. The prefect sort of…accepted the fact that he will not tell him anything, so the next best thing to do was to show up in his class early, and be ready to absorb today’s lesson.
It only took him a few steps to reach the Potions classroom, and upon entering the room, he saw Culloden look like he already needed a break. Ethan did not make an effort to look happy, because it was hard to pretend around that man. The prefect eyed the professor, sighed and shook his head, and looked for a seat while the potions master was busy welcoming the student before him.
Ethan took a seat near the front, sat back and made his presence known. “Professor.” A curt nod was all that he could give. He wasn’t sure how to greet this man anymore. Culloden’s state was just troubling.

If there was one class Whitty was gonna pay attention in and willingly study for, it was this one. And this was coming from the guy who refused to even touch his books during the summer apart from the short exchange when he had to BUY them and then, later on, pack them in his suitcase. This subject helped to boost his confidence even more, especially after the events from last year.
And yes, Grayson still had that vial of potion that Culloden had given him. Kept it safe and all.
Speaking of Culloden, the boy's blue eyes sought out for and landed on him first when he entered the classroom. "Hello Professor!" he called, giving the man a polite smile and nod. Dude was cool but dude also looked.......... off. Tired. It was better than his moody state where dumb people liked to make him madder, that was for sure.
Shrug.
The classroom looked as it usually did: blue walls, white washbasin and comfortable seats to boot, one of which Grayson went to sit on. Riiiiiiiight by a certain Prefect Mordaunt. "'Sup?" Nod. He placed the necessary items on the desk before letting his bag drop to the floor beneath his desk, even giving it a little kick for good measure.
