Default Luggage Compartment

The Hogwarts Express DOES have a place for all your things, you know, so you don't have to drag them into an already-crowded compartment. Store your school trunk, your broom, your owl, and whatever else you brought with you to school in this, the caboose of the train.

Then scoot scoot to another compartment. This one's taken by the trunks.

Fortunately, Toby had managed to locate Bludger, his mischievous black cat, before they'd all had to get into the carriages and head to Hogsmeade and board the train. But, predictably, as soon as he'd set foot inside the train, Bludger had wriggled free and scarpered down the corridor. Toby had just watched him go, shaking his head in amusement. This was something of a tradition for Bludger, escaping during the train rides, but Toby still didn't have the heart to stow him in any sort of cage or carrying basket or anything like that.

Except, y'know, he really did need to get him back, because Bludger had a tendency to prowl about the luggage compartment, which made Toby worry both about the welfare of the cat and the welfare of the other students' luggage. Bludger had his name for a very significant reason, ahem.

Which is why the Hufflepuff could now be found crawling about the compartment on his hands and knees, peering through gaps between trunks and occasionally thwacking his head against things with minor jolts of the train. But he found him at last, waaaaaay at the back of the compartment, perched on top of a trunk just out of reach and looking quite pleased with himself.

"Bludger," Toby said in false exasperation, and with a smile on his face as he stood back up and brushed his clothes clean after his brief stint on the floor. "C'mon Bludge, let's go find a compartment. We'll be back in London soon, and then it's back home, and you don't want to get caught up in here."

AND Toby had REASONS for wanting to be one of the first off the train. Well, one reason. One puppy shaped reason. And a Derry shaped reason too, come to think of it. Today was a very exciting day indeed.

But Bludger wasn't budging. Just sat there, although purring quite loudly now. There was nothing for it, really. Toby would have to go get him.

And so he did, hopping up and clambering over the many trunks to try and reach his wayward cat, who just sat there watching and judging and probably inwardly laughing, if that was a thing cats did. Toby just kept scrambling his way over, until he was more or less within arms reach, at which point the train gave another jolt and sent him toppling from the trunk he was balanced on. Tobias hit the deck with a loud thud and an 'OOFT' and sprawled there, quite unsurprised with this turn of events (he... was not the most graceful of people when not flying in the air). Seconds later the trunk he'd fallen from slowwwwwly tipped... and fell right on top of him, something he had not been expecting.

Bludger looked on and, perhaps sensing his work here was done, finally hopped down and headed out of the compartment, rubbing his head against the trunk that pinned his owner down on the way out.

Of course.
