Astronomy Lesson 2 :: food in space.............sort of
The small table with the lint roller and sign informing you that it is not to be used on your hair has been moved from outside of the Astronomy classroom to outside of the Astrophysics Laboratory. The use of it, or rolling eyes at it, should be second nature by now...but as you step inside the laboratory and grab your lab coat with your NASA name tag on it from the hanger to the right of the door...you may find yourself wondering if you are in the correct location.
But that is not all that is a bit strange. In the front of the laboratory, where the professor's desk usually is, are several large wooden stands filled with all sorts of produce and meats. There are mouthwatering fruits, tantalizing vegetables, and succulent looking raw meats and seafood just waiting to be eaten. Not to worry, there are charms in place to ensure that nothing spoils! However, the blackboard to the left of the stands states very clearly DO NOT TOUCH OR EAT ANYTHING - which must surely upset your grumbling tummy.
Perhaps the strangest of all is the fact that Professor Flamsteed is no where to be seen. Hmm...guess you better find a seat and wait for class to start then?

Norah bounced excitedly into the Astrophysics laboratory after running the lint roller over her robes and NOT her hair. Finding her lab coat and name tag, she pulled them on and looked to greet Professor Flamsteed but...he wasn't there. In fact, nobody was there. Uhhhh was she in the wrong place? With one eyebrow raised, the second year slid into a seat anyway and stared around the room. The tables were covered in all sorts of weird things, and at the front of the room was- FOOOOD. The professor had SAID they weren't supposed to eat lunch but...buuuuut it looked so good. Her stomach gave a large grumble and she frowned down at it. "Shut up." Yeah, she talked to her stomach. No biggie, especially when she was THIS hungry. Could people get here already so they could feast? Pretty please?

Jasmine arrived at the Astrophysics lab and went through her usual de-linting ritual. When she was sufficiently lint free she entered the lab. Taking her lab coat and putting it on, she looked around the room. Now this was different.
There was food everywhere and no sign of Professor Flamsteed. Jasmine wondered what was up with the grocery store theme. She couldn't wait to see how this would be applied to Astronomy. And where was the Professor? It wasn't like him not to be there, singing and jumping on desks. Jasmine saw that her young friend had already arrived. "Hi Norah", she said with a smile. Then she found a seat, sat down and made herself comfortable. Nothing to do now but wait.

De-linted.
If you'd asked her back in her second year what that particular term meant, she might have asked you how the heck she was meant to know then asked you kindly to shove off. Not now though, after so long, Alexa Cambridge knew exactly what it was and how to get it done like now. You could check every inch of her robes and find not a speck of lint. Whatever THAT was. Funny how she'd learned to de-lint but never what lint was and what harm it did.
All thoughts of lint vanished upon entering the room and spotting the uncooked food by the front and the fancy additions to each table.
"We having a cook off--" Eh? Where was the Professor? Curious. Lex stepped further into the room, picking a seat by the front as was her custom only in Astronomy and just kinda STARED. Why would you leave children in a room with food and a sign that says not to eat? She would need to have a word with the Professor...you know....when he finally got here.
It wasn't like him to be late.

Penelope didn't even bother with Professor Flamsteed's lint roller that everybody used. Pulling out her own lint roller that she carried in her pocket for times like this, she ran the lint roller over her robes.
Entering the astrophysics laboratory, she noticed the bunsen burners and the food. What was all of the food for? Finding the lab coat with her name on it, Penelope put it on and sat down at an empty table. It looked like they would be using bunsen burners. Maybe she would actually survive this lesson. Penelope did not touch or eat anything, not only because it said not to on the board, but because there were often very good reasons for instructions like this. If someone were to mess around with a bunsen burner while the professor was not here, there could be a big problem.

Arriving at the laboratory, Lux shrugged and grabbed the lint roller, giving herself a de-linting because why not. Putting the roller back in place, she grabbed her lab coat so that she would look like a NASA scientist. How cool was she.
What wasn't cool was all the food. Well, more the fact that she wasn't supposed to eat any of it. Not questioning why it was even in the room, she approached the stands. Ugh, strawberries. Just seeing them made her skin itch. And WHERE was Professor Flamsteed? His absence was the strangest thing of all.
What was going on here? Confused, she went to find a seat near Jasmine. "Hey!" she said as she waited for other students to join them. Hopefully Bay and her other friends would be here soon.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Samantha performed the usual de-linting routine and then entered the Astrophysics Lab and looked around. The set up was rather interesting and unusual. Sam sat down and looked at the rather odd packets of food without touching it. Samantha was getting more an more intrigued by what was going to happen in the lesson.
Today Hugo was having Astronomy class. Yesss. AND not in the classroom BUT in the Astrophysics lab. How cool was that? Whatever Astrophysics was. Anywayss, he was excited because last class had been fun and Flamesteel was gaining more points because of it. He definitely didn't lie to him the first time they met.
The only thing he didn't liked was the long walk up to the seventh floor. Once he finished climbing the stairs, he walked to the lab, eager to know what they were going to do. There were a few students in the room, none of them he knew and the professor wasn't there. But...most importantly, there was FOOD. Mhm, food. Why? Don't know, don't care, all he wanted to do was to eat it. There was a warning in the blackboard which made him frown. One less point for you, sir.
Wearing his lab coat with his name tag, the boy sat down waiting for the lesson to begin. And try the food.
Toby had done as requested and had not eaten today prior to this lesson, even though it had been sooooooooooo tempting. Tobias was a kid who burned a lot of energy, so eating lots was quite important, buuUUUUUUuuut he wasn't one to disobey an instruction from Airey.
After lint-rollering his uniform, stepping into the laboratory and donning a lab coat, Toby went to find himself any old seat and quickly got comfortable. He eyed that food up at the front of the classroom. Boy, he could really go for some of that right now.

Dec passed the lint roller over his robes, going over what he had done today in his head. He was way behind on homework and was running on two hours of sleep today. Surprised he made it this far.
Walking in, the smell of the delicious food set on the table hit him like a ton of bricks. The boy had skipped out on lunch and dinner to work on schoolwork. How grateful of the professor to provide food for-NO TOUCHING?! -_- Offff couuurseee.
The seventh year groaned his way past the food and into the desk. Where he still continued to groan, even as he threw himself onto the desk. FOOOOD.

A quick roll of the lint roller ensured that Marigold was clean and ready to go into Astronomy, where there was food. ...??? "Hi profe-" Much like the appearance of food, the fact that the professor was nowhere to be found was also surprising. She paused, looked around once more, then slid into a seat next to Norah. "Hi," she greeted her in a slightly smaller voice. She was a bit hungry and looking longingly at the food.

Lint roller, by now it was second nature. He didn't even question it anymore. Just rolled the lint off. He was kind of an expert now, an expert lint roller-offer that is! It was a very skill intensive quality, but once the mind is put into it and your lint rolling arm gets strong enough it's actually quite-- Huh? Was he really thinking about the expertise that go into lint rolling and merlin. Priorities. Shaking his head off, he put the lint roller back in place and walked into the classroom, still questioning his sanity.
What the heck.
Had he really just? Merlin. All that lint rolling was probably rolling away some brain cells or something because just wow. Unlike some Grumpy Professors, Flailsteed was alright so of course, Zander naturally went to go say hello and "Huh?" Where was he? Normally Professor F was running around and being all excited by this point, but uh? Heeeelllooooo? The Gryffindor even had to poke his head outside just to check, but nope. No where in sight. Welp. Alrightie then... Going to sit down now. And also why the food? And why can't the food be eaten because this is a very important inquiry.

Ignoring the lint roller as always, Kevin searched for his lab coat with his nametag on it before walking in to the room. The first thing he noticed was the food at the Professors desk obviously and then the sign on the blackboard. He rolled his eyes. Of course they couldn't eat it. THEN WHY WOULD YOU DISPLAY IT LIKE THAT?!
He waljed to an empty station next to his friend Zander and looked picked up the strange packages to examine them.
Oh and he hadn't even realised that the Professor wasn't there at all. Perks of never greeting them.

Zeke had decided very early on in the first lesson that THIS was going to be one of his favourite subjects, and when he entered the Astrophysics lab - after using the lint roller despite the lack of signs, he wasn't at all disappointed by what he saw. THERE WAS FOOOOODDD..... oh.... and a sign that says no touching or eating.
Poooop.
Still, there was hope that they MIGHT be able to eat soon enough, so grin still in place, Zeke pulled on his coat with his name tag on it, and positioned himself behind a work station.
WHERE was Professor Airey though? Hhhmmm? He peered around the room before examining the goods beside his burner. ZOMG!!!! WAS THIS ASTRONAUT FOOD?!?!?!
It really was going to be an eating lesson, wasn't it?
Angel was really scared after what had happened in the common room and she hadn't been sure if she wanted to come to this lesson or not but in the end she decided that she would because she wasn't going to let the fact that Professor Flamsteed had gone of his rocker stop her from getting a good education.
Angel peaked into the room and gave a small smile when she saw the Professor wasn't there but then that was odd behaviour in itself so did that mean the Professor was still being this crazy person looking for fights and why was all that food on the table but yet they weren't allowed to eat it.
Angel really was hungry but she didn't touch any off the food instead she went over and found a seat and sat down, praying that this would be the nice Professor Flamsteed.

As Jasmine sat wondering what the plan was for Astronomy class, she heard a familiar voice. Turning around, she saw her friend as she sat down near her. "Hey Lux. How's it going?" If Lux was here then Bay couldn't be too far behind. The class was filling up so Jasmine imagined it wouldn't be too much longer before it started.

Having skipped lunch as was requested on the noticeboard Hady made her way to the Astrophysics Lab. Stopping outside the door she picked up the lint roller and ran it over her robes like she had done at the first lesson.
Setting the roller down she walked into the lap. What was with all the food? Would they be learning how to cook or something today? She sure hoped so she was starving! And where was Professor Airey she didn't see him anywhere.
Making her way to an empty desk and sat down setting her bag at her feet like she normally did now. All the young Snake had to do now was wait for the Professor to arrive.
Agatha went from the dungeons all the way up to the towers, but that was no problem for her because she was fit and her leg muscles were ready for such things. Hair flip.
She made sure she was completely lint-free before grabbing the lab coat with the most beautiful name on it - hers - and looked around. No professor to be seen, only food. Hogwarts was such a strange place.
None of her actual friends was there yet, so she decided to sit with Zander and the other kid. They were Gryffindors, but so was professor Flamsteed. He was bound to focus on people of that house during his lessosn ad Agatha wanted to make sure he saw her. Not that she needed to use other people to be seen, because she called attention without the help of others, but for some reason she felt like sitting with them.
...Wasn't that the guy who was featured alonside her in the Yearbook? The Slytherin took a good look at him before sitting down next to Zander. "Hi."

No, his stomach wasn't grumbling, thank you very much...and this was a GOOD thing. Considering the amount of people in the room and his basic nervousness at being too seen, Gabriel was content to stay at his desk (IN HIS LAB COAT); visually inspecting (BUT NOT TOUCHING) the things on the table before him.
Science things.
Bunsen burner. Space ice cream. Gabriel already had his theories about what the day's lesson entailed. It was probably wrong....but that was okay. It was okay to be wrong.
HEAVY BREATHING.
Also...he wanted to acquire a lint roller...somehow. Those things made the most sense to him in the world.
"Hello, Professor." SEE?! He was even greeting the teacher. Today would be a good day. GOOD DAY, INDEED.....Oh, wait...No professor.

A curious look was cast around the place as he shrugged on the lab coat with his name on it. This was WEIRD, okay? Dude was far too used to their usual classroom and this felt a lot more professional. Like he was a scientist and whatnot. And the weirdest thing of all was the fact that Flammy-o wasn't around anywhere. Was he bunking? Had he forgotten about them? Were they allowed to go if he didn't come in the next fifteen minutes? His facial features turned into a scowl, especially once he took in the meats and veg over at the front. Was this some sort of torture method? Put food delicious looking food nearby and request that no one should touch or eat anything? His stomach seemed to think so. So, sitting down in his seat, Grayson tried to distract himself by watching.

Thoughts of Astronomy made Benny think of what had happened in the common room and his last encounter with his Head of House. Would things be okay for the lesson? Nothing could be certain so for now, Ben was deciding to be extra cautious and careful. With an extra eye on the astronomy professor.
Walking into the lab as the chosen room today, he found his lab coat complete with his modified nametag and slipped it on before taking in the room. Sure the overall set-up appeared normal...but the food?! About to greet the professor, the fourth year found him not there, another oddity. Instead, he looked around some more and spotting Angel, headed for the cushioned stool beside her.
"Hey..." he greeted at first before leaning just a little closer to whisper. "I have a strange feeling about this."

Clara got straight to the lint rolling once she approached the classroom. She still had the belief that it was there for a reason ... and it wasn't as if it took all that long to use either. Once that was done with that and had picked up her lab coat, she entered the classroom. She was a little anxious to face Flamsteed again because the last time she'd been in lesson she'd be a mess. Nervous eyes darted towards where the Professor was ..... supposed to be and blinked. He wasn't there.
The redhead's shoulder sagged in relief; perhaps she could go through the lesson without being noticed. She took her seat, ignoring the feeling of nerves in the pit of her stomach. It was a lot easier to ignore them now that had been before, she knew more about what to expect and how to deal with it.
Now to wait ... and try and work out why there were stands of food ... but no Professor.

Looking around the room, it was now that he realised that that the Professor wasn't even in the room with them. Oh..that was strange right? The man was usually already there. But whatever. He turned his attention back to the packages that were in front of him when a girl came up to his and Zander's table. And she was stating at him. The Gryffindor frowned and then narrowed his eyes at her. "What you looking at?!" he demanded as she sat down next to his friend.

Ian had walked up the steps from the common room to the seventh floor tower and astrophysics lab. He hoped they wouldn't be doing any complex equations. (Ian HATED math and he'd read that physics was largely an exercise in mathematical equations. Not easy ones easier. Math with made up numbers that sort of frightened him. He arrived at the 'new' location and picked up the lint roller and 'cleaned' his clothes of lint properly.
Walking into the lab, he noted the lab coats and looked through the rack to find the one with the name tag from last lesson. Slipping on the white coat, he headed toward the table that had Norah at it. She was there with another girl, appeared to be a Ravenclaw and waited until their conversation had reached a pause. He tapped Norah on the shoulder and asked, Mind if I join the two of you at this table. This isn't my favorite class and I hate to burden people I've never met with my ignorance. Granted, it may have been a bit too much information that might cost him a table spot with someone he knew, he waited for a response. As he did, he looked around and noticed there was no professor about. That was odd...especially since the professor liked to ensure they were sufficiently de-linted upon entry into the space.
