Despite the smell of owl poop, Elodie liked spending her time sitting up here. It was just little things to do but making sure the owls got something to eat and some happy smiley faces was a nice thing to do, right? She started with her own owl, Badger, and gave him a kiss on the top of the head too, along with some whispering about how he was definitely her favourite owl. Couldn't let the others hear that she had a favourite!!

BEAMING, Lux made her way uppppp the stairs to the owlery. Luna needed a visit and some treats, and this break from classes was a great time for that to happen. Grabbing some treats from the bag, she went to look for her pet owl but found a familiar face instead. AWWWW, Elodie was kissing an owl on the head. Owl!Kisses were cute!

"Heeeeey, Elodieee." Friendly wave. "What's your owl's name?"

She continued to whisper lovely things to her owl whilst she chose her next owl for kisses. No clue yet. None of them were really trying to make a connection with her. Her kisses were GOOD. And she had FOOD DARNIT. When Elodie became aware she wasn't alone, she turned to look who it was and returned to stroking just one finger on Badger's head. Ah, Little Lux. "Hiiiiii, kidda. You okay? Sleeping better now that school is starting properly?" She did worry about her.

Wanted to cuddle her until she slept if that was what was needed.

"His name is Badger. I wasn't very creative when I got him."

AWWWWW, look at Elodie being all sweet and an amazing Prefect.

Hoping she wasn't interrupting the owl lovefest, Lux went over to the older girl and gave her a hug. Because how could she NOT hug Elodie when she was being so nice and concerned about her? "Yes, I think I am! On the most part." Honestly, sometimes she still had trouble. It was probably due to all the excitement of being back!! Lux could get awfully excitable at times.

"Badger? That's so cute. My owl is named Luna." And speaking of Luna... there she was! "See, she is the snowy one." Nod.

Hugs. Aw. Elodie liked those.

Especially when they came from a rugrat. A rugrat of whom she enjoyed the company of the most out of many people. The seventh year put her arms around her, and pulled her tightly against her. It helped for definite that Lux was small and Elodie was taller than most her own age, because it almost felt like she was being hugged by her nieces. And they gave the best hugs, aside from her three C's and Radley. Too many favourite huggers. All for different reasons though. Lux hugs just brought a smile to her face and made her feel a little warm inside. It was easy enough though, because Lux was always smiley and kind and it was gross.

Disgustingly nice, was Little Lux. Sickeningly adorable.

"Promise you'll come to me if you can't sleep? We can get you something to help. Or..maybe we can read a chapter of a book each night in the common room before we go to bed, hm?" A boring book to tire her out? Had her sleeping pattern been ruined over the holidays? Was she now used to going to bed later than she should have been? All the questions.

"Luna? That's adorable!" Elodie released Lux at that moment, and closed the gap between herself and Luna, stretching a finger out to stroke the owl gently.

EEEEP, SQUISHY HUGS!

They were the best, and Elodie gave might fiiiiine hugs! WHY DID SHE HAVE TO GRADUATE AT THE END OF TERM!?! ;____________;

Not wanting to get all pouty about it now, when there was still time left in the school year and she didn't want Elodie to be sad, Lux decided it was better to keep being happy. Especially because Elodie was offering to help her. "I promise I will come to you and if we read a book, it can be something extra super boring." Maybe there was a really dull book in the library; Mr. Kitridge could always be asked if he could recommend something really dull.

Watching Elodie pet Luna, she smiled more. "She likes you." But then who wouldn't because Elodie was the best. "We both have awesome owls!" Some of the best ones in the school!

Something super boring. Exactly! Elodie liked the way Lux thought! "Not something too boring that we can't bear the thought of reading it, right?" Maybe something that just had a lot of long words that would wear their little brains out. Well, little because Lux was little. Elodie had a large brain. She knew all the things. Everything she needed to know anyway. And wanted to know. The rest of it...she didn't even care about. Nope. No cares at all.

She liked her? Elodie smiled and encouraged the owl forward a little more so she could give her some food. "I like her too. She's particularly pretty." Particularly lovely like her owner too.

Lux was a sweetheart.

Ooh, yes. Elodie was so smart, because Lux never would have thought about really boring books being bad. "So that is a no for textbooks then, but maybe we could do a really slow novel." Some of those were boring, especially the classics. All she knew was that adventures and mysteries were off of the table because they were way too fun and exciting.

Awww, yes. Luna WAS really pretty. Happily, Lux gave her little owl some treats before giving some to Badger as well. Sharing was caring, and these little guys would love some yummy treats. "She is pretty like you are and Badger is handsome!" Because he was a guy, she was sure that he wouldn't have wanted to be referred to as pretty. Guys didn't really like that as far as she knew. But Elodie was really pretty!

A textbook? Elodie gave Lux a look that said 'hello no' and then grinned. "Definitely a no for textbooks. Bedtime stories will probably be the only time I look at books when I'm not studying..." Darn exams and studying and needing to do well so she could drop the 'failodie' name given to her by her brother. That, and the fact she still wanted the option for further education. "Maybe we can cover a series..." A short one. They only had this year..

Els did the same as Lux, and split her treats between the two owls, giving them both equal attention and nuzzles. "Do you think our owls are friends?" Did owls make friends? If so, she kinda hoped that Badger had a better time making friends with other owls than she did with other humans. Humans were hard to deal with.

So that was a big NO in the face of textbooks then! "Oh, I almost forgot you have NEWTs. I don't want to take time away from you studying." As much as she wanted to spend more time with Elodie, she wanted her friend to do the best on her tests as possible. They sounded really hard. "Oh, a series works! But I won't ask for The Lord of the Rings books because I have already read them and they are definitely not short." They were exciting books, but some of the long description pages could put a person to sleep.

WHOOOO, sharing owl treats! They were so COOL! Affectionately she gave Badger some love while Elodie did too. It must have made him really happy! But of course Luna might get jealous, so she got some attention as well. "I think they are friends, and I think they will have a lot of fun together in the owlery." It would be good for them, because surely it got boring sometimes, being stuck in this room unless they were off making deliveries.

She thought she'd be taking her away from studying? Elodie smiled and shook her head. "Not at all! The time away from studying would be great. I don't want to swamp myself with it like I did in OWL year." You know...the time when she'd stayed awake for four days straight and literally fell asleep mid conversation with her boyfriend. Mid argument. Mid everything. "We can have a think about it and find something really good?" Nothing that would warrant Elodie wanting to read 24/7 though. She'd probably keep Lux from classes and homework just to read.

Els nudged Badger forward to sit on her own arm and smiled. "Badger, this is Luna. And I hope you're being really nice to her and looking out for her." And sharing food with her. Maybe they owl gossipped too. Did owls gossip? Was that something in their DNA?

The Owls were cute enough. Not as cute as the bichon frise that his neighbor back home had. Leon plucked a few treats and held out his hand. A brown and grey little owl hopped over and clucked happily as it chipped up the treats. Leon was deep in thought as he sat there, his eyes just staring at the owl.

Leon was always told that lying was bad and all that such, but he also heard from an older cousin to fake it till you make it. Right now, he really missed his house. He missed his rock collection. He missed the blue and black tiles in the kitchen. He missed his Dad's terrible cooking. For chemists they sure couldn't cook a simple recipe. The meatloaf was always so dry and the carrots were normally chewy. He was going to write home saying all of those things. But instead he rolled up his short written note of "Mom and Dad, Everything is awesome. Take care"

Smiling, hoping that these feeling would pass, he rolled it up and made his way to the owls that were ready to send out.

The fact that Elodie didn't mind reading to her when she had to study for NEWTs made Lux feel relieved. There was no way she would ever want to be mean to her friend and cause her to fail or something. But as long as the older girl was cool with it, everything was good. "Yes, we could go to the library! And maybe we can choose something you've read before unless you want to do something neither of us have." New books were always amazing, but sometimes it was nice to go back and re-read a book that you had really enjoyed. Every once in a while she did that herself.

Giggle. It was nice to see the owls getting along and being friends. "I think they are going to be amazing friends and look out for each other the whole term." Because that was what good friends did: they had each other's backs. "You are so nice for offering to help me. If you ever need me to help you with something, I will try my best to!" Nod. She meant it.

To make the big decision between a book she'd read..or something she hadn't. Now, that was something borderline stressful. "Something I haven't read. Something neither of us have." That way..it could be super enjoyable for them both and if it was a bad book...they could both hate on it. Together. Discuss it and everything. That was a bonding exercise, right? Bonding was good. Bonding was fun. And so was reading. Els looked towards the door for just a moment, and then back at Lux.

"I'm okay right now, but...if ever I need anything that I think you'll be best to ask help with? I'll ask." Now..Elodie wasn't sure that she could find something that Lux would be the best to ask about, but the sentiment was there and she really appreciated it. It was nice to have someone who just smiled at you. Always. Like Lux did. Because she was always happy. Sickeningly happy, even.

"Maybe we should go look for a book now?"

A book that neither of them had read was a GREAT idea. Lus was totally happy that Elodie had decided to go with that option. "I am totally up for reading a new book with you! It will be like an adventure for the both of us!" Didn't that sound exciting?! Lux sure thought it did! "What kind of books do you like to read?" She herself liked adventures and mysteries.

"Okay, I will keep that in mind! Even if I only help you smile!" Everyone got sad sometimes, right? Elodie wouldn't be immune to it though Lux didn't like to think of her friend being sad. Good cures for sadness were hugs, smiles, and Chocolate Frogs. And Lux had allll of them to give!

Giving the little owls more pats, she nodded. "Yep, let's do that."

“GREETINGS, mine dear birds of the night!” Ethan swiftly opened the door to the Owlery and greeted the owls in the room. He doesn’t have an owl, or any pet in Hogwarts—therefore, he decided to bug the nocturnal creatures in the morning. Hehehe. He needs to get his Astronomy Homework done, you know. He was supposed to talk to the Headmistress if he could have an audience with the Sorting Hat, but since he’s got a bad record with the ancient object, he decided against it. He didn’t want the thing to have a fit in front of the Headmistress. Nope.

Well, maybe next time if another homework calls for it. Muehehe.

Anyway, back to the owls. The Slytherin wore a grin on his face as he stepped closer to the creatures. “I’m sorry to bug you early in the morning, guys. But I’ve got homework to do.” Ethan waited for an owl to scratch him on the face in protest, but instead a lone ‘Hoo’ was heard. He wasn’t sure though if it was an approval, disapproval, or a ‘you-are-so-weird’ comment. Nonetheless, the Slytherin shrugged and continued with the show. “Seasons. Seasons art wond'rful. And how is it wond'rful? It gives us diff'rent weath'r f'r us to enjoyeth and not to geteth b'r'd.” Smiling, he placed an orange in the middle and pointed at it. “How we get seasons, you asketh?” he asked. “Simple. The orbiting of the earth arooooooouuuuuuuuunnnnnnd the sun and its tilt makes up the seasons.” He said as he stood, tilting a bit to the side and orbited the whole room while he himself was turning. The owls’ heads followed the boy, some of them even turned from their perch to follow his demonstration.

“Say, I am the earth. Tilted 23 degrees. Half way is the equator. From my waist up is the northern hemisphere, and from my waist down is the southern hemisphere.” He said as he pointed at his waist, upper and lower half of his body. “Fall happens approximately on September 21st." he said as he tilted on his right. “Things get chilly at this time…then as I rotate…” he orbited right as he turned. “We reach the winter season. Happens every December 21st. Notice how my upper half is away from the sun. That’s the reason why it’s cold up here in Hogwarts.” He said pointing at the orange in front of him. “Aaaand I turn again…” he said as he orbited once more until he reached the northern spot of the room. “…we get to Spring. Happens on the 21st of March. Not too cold or hot because the rays of the sun is directed at the Equator. Therefore, we get a balanced temperature up here.” He said as he patted his belly, as he stood tilting to his left. “Then we get to SUMMAH!!! My favourite season because I can skateboard all day.” He said while orbiting to the left of the room, and tilting forward this time towards the orange. “Every June 21st it gets warm enough because as you can see…” he said as he patted his chest, still tilting forward. “…the Northern Hemisphere is directly beamed with the rays of the sun. That’s why it gets hot at that time of the month, opposed to when I was in that position.” He said as he pointed across the room, wherein he was tilting away from the orange. “Fun, isn’t it? When we get snow, the people from the south experiences summer and vice-versa. So cool!” he said as he stood straight this time and looked at the owls.

“Er…any questions?” Ethan tilted his head as he looked up at the birds staring at him in silence. As if on cue, one by one the owls flew from their porch and out the window. “Oh that’s just rude!” The Slytherin made a face and picked up his orange. “I should have just demonstrated in front of the House Elves.” He murmured to himself and walked out the door. Well at least, he was done with one homework.

With the horribly cold weather outside, Benny had been paying a little more attention to Conrad. He certainly didn't want his familiar to be lonely and bored when he couldn't get out of the castle more often. And he hoped the owl didn't try flying out in the frigid atmosphere that was in place. The third year doubted it was any better for birds than it was for humans.

"Hey boy..." he greeted as he stepped inside the owlery and moved closer to where the owl was perched amongst his brethren. Benny offered up a treat, gaining a hoot as Conrad took it willingly.

Angel decided that it was time to see her owl, she hadn't seen it for ages and was kind of missing it. "Hey..." Angel stopped when she suddenly saw that Benny was in the room, she hadn't seen him since the incident in the ancient runes class, when she had been sure she wouldn't make it through the class.

"Hi." Angel blushed as she saw him, she really didn't know what to say or do but she did have manners. "My friend gave me this to give to you." Angel lied as she held the card to him.



Angel hoped that he would like the card, because she had spent ages on it, she had even put dragons on the front as well as the hearts.

This icy, frigid, snow-filled virulent winter is beginning to esclate toward blizzard levels with a polar vortex wind chill suddenly sweeping the grounds as well as the owlery high atop the castle towers. Brrr! Best get to an area of the castle that is encolsed now before it's more than your nose that gets frostbitten! It looks like Hogwarts may already be in the process of being snowed in....

Benny froze as he heard a voice, evidence he wasn't alone anymore in the owlery. He turned to look who it was, only to find Angel standing there as she said hello to him. "Hi..." he echoed, not sure of what else to say at the moment. The last time they had actually talked the first year had really thrown him for a loop and he hadn't managed to come up an appropriate response to it.

And now she was giving him a card? From a friend?!

"Um...thanks," he said talking it from her. The older Gryffindor noticing the dragons and almost relaxed until the hearts caught his notice. Ben tentatively opened it, shivering in the process as a cold breeze blew through. He then froze figuratively.

He had a secret admirer?!

Angel looked at Benny trying to figure out if he was going to react to the card or not. "Eh...." Angel looked away to hide the blushing, she waited a few moments before continuing. "Did you like the card?" Angel asked before fake coughing. "You know, I did promise my friend that I would find out for her." Angel hoped that benny was buying all this.

Benny had almost forgotten Angel was still standing there. The boy certainly didn't notice her blush. She was just standing there to him. Standing there between him and the door. He didn't have the smooth escape he had had after setting her down on the ground inside after the runes lesson.

"Yeah...I um...do," he answered as she nudged for an answer. "You...you can tell your friend that." The third year wasn't sure he could answer to the negative despite the lovey dovey words and graphics. At least it had dragons...right?

Angel looked at Benny and smiled. "I'm glad you like....." Angel blushed again she nearly gave herself away then. "I'll tell my friend that you like it." Angel smiled before she shivered it had suddenly got very cold and she wasn't enjoying it one bit, though she was glad that cutie-pie liked the card she made.

Angel shivered a bit more as she realised that it was getting very cold here and it was getting very cold fast. "I wonder why it's this cold at this time of the year." Angel sighed, was there a wizard that was controlling the weather somewhere who the headmistress owed a lot of money too so he was making them all freeze.

"I don't know...its real strange," he said, admitting the last part about his feelings on the matter. Pausing a moment or two after she shivered again, the third year reached for the button of his cloak, taking it off. "Here...you take this for now," he offered, resting it on her shoulders. It might drag a little as she moved since it was long but it would work. "Perhaps we best get back inside."
