Mahogany to sea urchin purple, the warm yet striking colors of the office seems to both brighten and darken the room. It is evident that the Professor's desk wasn't considered to be the center of attention. If the few metal sculptures of creatures and charcoal abstract works of art scattered around the room and even hanging from the ceiling weren't distraction enough, it was the amount of furnishing.
A large selection of chairs, each comfier than the next as you move further into the room, sit between you and the back of the room where the Professor's desk actual sits. Sitting right in the middle of the room, upon a thin yet soft carpet, is a deep mahogany rectangular table, scattered with various books, magazines, and a silver tea set ready to be used. A cage hands from it's stand near a very plush leather couch to the side of the office, where a rather small bat sits inside, either sleeping or spying on you. Who knows, right?
Behind the main desk to the right is a bookshelf lined from top to bottom of the wall, even curving into the corner of the room. Filled up with books, some barely looking new while others are separating from their spines, some titles that could be found are Defensive Magical Theory, Seeing the Hidden: A Concealment and Disguise Guide, Expect the Unexpected: Shield Magic, and a few out of place topics such as The Art of Meditation and The Magnum Opus of Scrap Metal. To the left of the room, there are a few smaller filing cabinets, used to document student grades as well as research from the professor's own personal studies.
Make yourself comfortable if you'd like or stand in a fit of nerves if you must.

Closing the door behind the both of them, listening to Sophie's explanation, she nodded and took her seat on one of the comfortable seats...eyebrow somewhat twitching up. In her years of experience as a professor at Hogwarts, she should've come to learn by now to not guess what a student was going to ask. No doubt will be completely wrong.
Nundus? "Quite a lot actually." she replied, crossing a leg over the other. "Vos there something specific you vonted to know?"

Mmhmmm. Was there something in the water nowadays? Or was it just natural for the kids to want to try and defeat something so considerably dangerous? First Alexa Cambridge with the werewolf...and now Sophie with a nundu? "That is quite an ambitious dream, Miss Newell. And von not so easily accomplished alone, if not impossible."

"It is indeed a rather rare occasion." she agreed, not particularly giving a voice on it's cool factor as she leaned forward to poor two cups of tea, whether Sophie would have liked one or not. Sliding one of the rustic tea cups that held the saturated pink liquid towards the Slytherin, she smiled kindly. "Tea?" Sugar cubes and cream were in arms reach access, but the professor took hers plain.
"Do you know vhy the people who defeat a nundu are special?" Little more digging up info.

Sophie's eyes followed the professor's movements as she prepared two cups of tea. Oh, tea--cool! They must be about to do some serious discussion on when this Nundu fight would happen.
"Thank you," she said, accepting the tea. She hesitated, but then took a sugar packet and poured it in the cup. She hesitated again then added another packet. After two more hesitations, there were four packets of sugar in the tea. "Professor Hadley said people add sugar to pizza," she said. Completely off topic, but Sophie was all about adding in some fun facts.
Then they were back to Nundus. "I do," she said. "It's because the Nundu is considering the most dangerous creature out there. That's the whole reason I want to defeat one." What would be the point in defeating a flobberworm, after all? "Like I said, though. I have a plan."

It has come to my attention that we are not communicating effectively enough where student behaviour is concerned. I for one would appreciate any and all feedback regarding the Gryffindors should issues concerning their behaviour, well being or academic progress arise. I ask this so that as Gryffindor Head of House, and Deputy Headmisstress I may assist in supporting you by monitoring and managing concerns regarding the students under my care.

Wait, what? Did they really?
Eyebrows raised from that little unusual fact, she took another sit of her tea before letting it rest upon the saucer on her knee. She wasn't quite convinced Sophie really knew the dangers, but then again, that's also what attracted teens to these creatures, right? All the dangers? "Vot is your plan?"

Ooh, a paper airplane memo!
For a moment, Sophie was so distracted by the paper airplane that she almost reached out and grabbed it before the professor did. Almost. She didn't, though. She refrained. Was the professor even going to get it, though? It looked so interesting!
Oh, her plan. Right. "You can come with me," she said, just as sincere as she could. Then when the BIG MOMENT came, the professor could just stand back and chill while Sophie singlehandedly defeated the Nundu.

In the process of placing her tea cup upon the table to retrieve the memo, she paused and stared at the third year. That...that was her plan? Oh dear. "Vhile I appreciate the invitation, Miss Newell..." she started to say as she stood up, unable to keep a smile from sneaking up either. Just a fleeting smile though. "...I'll haff to decline."
She wasn't much for defeating creatures unless threatened anyhow.

With a look of bewilderment, she absentmindely leaned upon her desk, finding herself unable to respond to that comment. It wasn't exactly the backup plan she had in mind. And honestly, she had a good idea of what Sophie's third back up plan would be. The girl was dead set on this dream apparently.
"Alright." she spoke softly, fiddling with the folded memo by making the edges a bit sharper. "I'll tell you vot. You vrite me...a ten page research paper on the nundu, including the history of a nundu, it's personality and characteristics, how to defeat von, it's current population count, and anything else you may come across in your study. And then aftervard...if I believe you've done a thorough job on it...ve can bring up the topic of defeating a nundu again."

Although she didn't realize it, Sophie had her breath held the entire time she was awaiting an answer. At the sound of the word 'alright', her whole face lit up as if someone had just told her she'd been named Queen of the World.
...and then, just that quickly, her whole face fell. "I...a..." TEN PAGES?! But--Sophie thought this was going to just be an easy YES, not a difficult reward she'd have to actually work for! She was going to rid the world of a dangerous NUNDU! Wasn't that enough?!
"I don't guess you'd let me do a sentence a page, would you?" she asked, not exactly expecting an answer to that. "It was my dream..." She trailed off on that last note. "Okay, well, I guess that's all, Professor." She could go now, because even Sophie knew that if she found enough information on the Nundu to write ten pages, she'd have to be forced to admit this was an unreachable goal.

Sophie didn't figure she'd be getting off that easily. She frowned, trying not to look too disappointed. "Okay, well, thank you, Professor," she said. She stood and headed toward the door. That was really all she came for, so she should really let the professor get back to whatever it was she was doing.
"I should get going now," she added. "Thanks for a great year, by the way." Even if she was now officially scared of Cold Ones and Skygge. She gave the professor an attempted smile, and then with one more nod, she was out the door and on her way.
