The first you see is the fishing gear hanging on pins left of the doorway. The librarian is a bit fishing obsessed so he has brought some fishing equipment if time lets him explore the great lake’s fishing possibilities. The next thing you feel is cozy warmth emanating from the roaring fire place nearby. Remembering the chilliness of the halls and rooms in the castle from his years here Mr Kitridge has taken steps to see too that at least one place is warm and comfortable. In the center of the office you see what should be a desk under all the stuff currently placed on it like charts, crammers, stacks of books, an odd telescope or crystal ball and last but not least a big bowl of candy. Behind the desk, a large comfy chair with a pillow in it is situated.
Hanging on the walls around the office are portraits of former notable librarians like Madam Pince, Madam Rowena, Angela Kohan, David Kapoor and Madam Donovan. The collection of portraits/photographs is completed with some Kitridges who've been successful in some way or other through the course of time. No office of a librarian is complete without a curvy s-shaped bookshelf.
OCC: I will not have an arrival thread so please don't clog up the thread with 'waiting to enter' posts. Have your character knock on the door and then wait for Mr Kitridge to allow you to enter or to come back later. If you have any questions or want to set up a meeting don't hesitate to PM or VM me.
Laura looked down at her appearance she wanted to make sure she was looking really smart, she was going to miss coming to the Library when she left at the end of the year but at least that was still awhile off at the minute.
Once she was sure that her appearance was great and she looked smart she knocked on the office door.
*knock*
She then just stood there waiting patiently for the Librarian to let her in. She couldn't believe how fast time was going it just seemed like yesterday that she had won a day with him but that was now 3 years back and that had helped change her from the rebel she had been.

Relaxing in one of his comfy chairs with Wilhelmina curled up in his lap, Madonna at his feet playing with a rubber mouse and a book in his hand Leo was fully content. He was just engrossing himself in a new novel his mother had sent over along with her usual weekly letter of the comings and goings of home life when there was a distinct knock on the door.
The knock made Madonna’s hear snap up to attention and for Wilhelmina to move around in his lap. Reluctantly standing up after putting the book in the nearest bookshelf he grabbed his pets and put them in their baskets. Ignoring their unhappy sounds he walked over to open the door.
Stepping out into the doorway his eyes landed on a familiar Hufflepuff. "Good day Laura. Welcome back to school. Want to come in?"

Laura was just making sure her hair was all neat and tidy when the Librarian answered the door. "Good day sir." Laura smiled. "Did you have a good summer?" Laura thought she would ask that first whilst they were just stood there. Of course she whispered it since this was a Library and she didn't want to disturb anyone. Could they hear her from here in the Library? She hadn't thought about that before.
Laura suddenly remembered why she was here and heard what the Librarian said next. "If your not busy sir." Laura beamed. "If you are I can come back later, I don't want to disturb you if your really busy with work."

Taking a step back he beckoned Laura to come into his office. "No I'm not busy. So come on in!" If he had been busy he'd have put things off for Laura since she obviously came to see him for a reason. Heading inside expecting Laura to follow and shut the door after her, Leo commented to her over his shoulder in a cheery tone. "My summer was good. I went to Paris with my sister Rose. It was nice."
Slipping down in one of the comfy chairs next to the curved bookcase he invited Laura to take the other with a gesture of his hand. "How was your summer dear?"

Laura smiled as she walked into the room and closed the door before walking over and sitting down where the Librarian gestured. "I am glad you had a nice summer." Laura was really glad the Professor had been away because she was sure he needed a holiday after looking after all the books.
"Oh my summer was awesome." Laura smiled. "I did some horse racing and won one and came in the top four in a few others." Laura beamed. "I think I want to be a horse racing when I grow up, I want to be a jump jockey." Laura took out something she had kept in her pocket for ages. "I also want you to have this sir." Laura beamed, "Without you I wouldn't have done half as much as I have." Laura held out the winners medal for the Librarian to take. "I'm planning on getting loads more sir." Laura beamed. "Next summer I start training at this really big horse stable, which is near my home." Laura couldn't wait. "Lightning is already there." Laura loved how she had named the horse lightning.

"Have you been racing winged horses?" Leo wondered. Or where Laura referring to the muggle counterpart where you jumped over hurdles on a track? Or where you raced a lot of horses together around the track to see who was fastest? The possibilities were endless. "What is a jump jockey?" Leo questioned as he accepted the winners medal from Laura with amazement. "You won this. That's awesome Laura." Blushing slightly Leo waved her praise off. "I only guided you in the right direction. You did all the work on your own Laura. I’m proud of you." And Leo wasn’t just saying that he really meant it.
"Lightning is your horse?" he asked trying to connect the dots to Laura's words.

"No I've been racing muggle horses." Laura beamed. "A friend of my dads own a stable and I've spent loads of summers there but I decided this year I wanted to race and got told I could." Laura really was loving life at the minute, she really was everything was going amazing.
Laura thought how to explain it. "A jump Jockey is a racer that jumps over hurdles and things like that." Laura didn't want to be just a straight Jockey. "They are amazing and it's dangerous but fun at the same time like Quidditch."
"No sir, you did more than that. You believed in me when everyone else didn't." Laura was being truthful. "All I can say sir is I'm glad I won a day with you at the auction because you opened my eyes on how I was behaving." Laura really was thankful. "And yes Lightning is my horse, the next horse I get I'm calling it Librarian after you sir." Laura then thought about something. "If I ever get into a big race can I send you tickets sir?"

Muggle horses not winged horses at all. Leo had been half on track since a jump jockey hadn’t seemed like a magical term. Flashing the medal a glance he commented some shred of amazement still colouring his voice. "You definitely seem to have a clear talent for horse racing."
It was nice to see that Laura had found something she was passionate about. It even shone through in how she explained what a jump jockey was to him. A renewed blush flashed across Leo’s features as Laura explained that it was because of him and his belief in her that had made it possible for her to change.
Moved and just speechless Leo asked to mask his emotions. "Care for a popsicle dear?" Going over to small freezer/fridge Leo pulled out a popsicle and ripped off the plastic. He gave the popsicle a taste before he turned to Laura. "I'd love to come and watch you race sometime."

Laura looked at the Librarian and smile as she saw the Librarian blush if it wasn't for the fact, she didn't want to get into trouble she seriously would have hugged him right there and then because well he was awesome and he deserved it.
"No thanks sir." Laura smiled, she wasn't feeling in the mood for one at the minute she had just eaten like 3 mars bars before coming into the office. "And Sir I'll make sure you get the best seats available." Laura was going to make sure she was extra good when he came to watch her race.

Leo hoped that Laura understood that he was proud of her and that it moved his heart to know that he in some small way had contributed to her change to become a more responsible young woman who understood the consequences of her actions. Laura had lost more house points and been in more detentions than many other students at Hogwarts.
Licking on the popsicle with coca cola flavour, Leo made his way back over to his seat. If Laura didn't want one then he wasn’t going to nag at her until she did. Beaming he responded. "I'll look forward to it. I've never been to a horse race before."
Laura was trying to do this as sneakily as possible it was important that this worked out perfectly she didn't want to get into trouble for disturbing the Librarian he might have some busy work to do.
SPOILER!!: the note
Dear Mr Kitridge
When I decided to bid on you at the Auction a few years back, I never knew how much of a big decision that would turn out to be. You believed in me when most people had given up on me and for that I'll be entirely grateful.
I know where not supposed to get teachers gifts but technically your not a teacher your an amazing Librarian and an amazing mentor. I can't believe how fast my time he at Hogwarts has gone and now I only have a few months left but I have been studying hard for my NEWTS and I'm hoping that I can pass them because I don't want to let you down.
If it wasn't for the fact I already know that I want to be a Jockey when I'm older. I'd seriously consider being a Librarian because you make the job look so cool and you always have time for everyone.

Laura looked at the note and then slowly put the tin of chocolate and the ticket she had gotten him to attend her first horse race in the summer. She was hoping he would come because she thought it would be amazing to have the greatest Librarian watching her.
She quickly looked at everything and then she left. The Librarian could find them when he was good and ready. She just hoped that she hadn't made too much noise putting the note up.

Clutching the flying book in a tight grip Leo headed back to his office to check on his pets. His visit to Tiara’s hadn’t gone smoothly to put it mildly. The disease had made his colleague delirious and a little mental. There was no other way to justify Tiara accusing him of wanting to brainwash her. Shaking his head as he turned into the corridor he spotted something pinned to his door. Going closer Leo discovered that it was a note.
Taking the note he opened it as his foot connected with something on the floor. Leaning down to pick a tin up he started to read the note from Laura Hyde. Leo couldn't help but smile by the end of it. His bad mood blown away. He was definitely going to go see Laura race horses this summer.

Cutty had to be very careful. Now that the Librarian knew his name and what he liked to check out (which still consisted mostly of non-fiction reads and lately a lot of language books especially Bulgarian and Gobbledegook), the boy felt that Mr. Leobald Kitridge could start to form a picture of him that Cutty thought may not be too flattering. Or maybe it could be flattering, because maybe Mr. Kitridge would think he was smart. But Cutty didn't want him thinking that he was too smart, because if he thought he was toooo smart he may not trust him with certain informations.
Which was entirely the reason behind him striking up a conversation with the Librarian about a year ago.
He had it in his hand, though, a copy of 'The Lonely Potioneer's Diary' by August Stubbins. That along with 'Transfiguration Around the World', 'A History of Wizard-Goblin Relations' and the book he was so rudely interrupted from reading, 'Defensive Magical Theory' by Wilbert Slinkhard, which Cutty rather enjoyed because he thought it inadvertently contained many passive-aggressive tactics. Mostly on behalf of the writer's manner of imparting the information. He moved very, very, very slowly due to his aging over to the front desk and finding Leo not there, started poking around the office area to search for him. Ah, there he was! Cutty set the books down on a nearby chair and placed at the very top a chocolate frog, still in it's original wrapping. "Good afternoon, Mr. Kitridge. I brought you a chocolate frog."

Standing in his own personal bubble Leo didn’t hear Cutty come up behind him or how he sat a collection of books down on a chair. At the sound of Cutty’s voice Leo took a big startled step backwards almost backing into the young snake. Holding his hand over his chest as his pulse beat fast Leo spluttered out. "Merlin Cutty, you scared me."
Taking a long breath to calm his pulse Leo asked somewhat surprised. #You brought me a chocolate frog? I haven't collected chocolate frog cards in years. Are you a collector Cutty?" To collect chocolate frog cards and place them in albums was something he had done as a young boy. If Leo recalled his quite extensive frog card collection was mounting dust in a box in his parent’s attic unless his sisters had moved it.

He looked so old. Like a shriveled little man-monkey that he did seem too surprised, nor offended that he'd frightened the school's librarian. Leo was clutching his heart, though and inside his mind, Cutty prepared for witnessing a possible heart attack. Perhaps, Mr. Kitridge wasn't like the rest of them. Forces to use Charms and Potions to protect their looks, but aging on the inside. In all liklihood, Mr. Kitridge's heart was about as old as it was when Cutty had met him the first time. And so the boy remained neutral. He would witness nothing out of the ordinary for the time being.
At Mr. Kitridge's question, Cutty nodded. "Yeah, I'm a bit of a collector." Though, not of chocolate frog cards. He gave that up last year when he'd written about including Barty Crouch Sr. only to be turned down. "What are you doing in your office, Mr. Kitridge?"

Really taking in Cutty’s old dishevelled appearance Leo wanted to curse and hit something. Why couldn’t they find a cure for this disease that was giving almost everyone misery and torment. Students in their prime age shouldn’t be feeling like 80 year old wizards and witches. Shaking his head Leo turned momentarily to unlock his office door. Turning back to Cutty he asked "Do you want the frog card after I've opened the packet?"
Holding up the note and tickets Leo responded. "I was just going in to see if I've gotten a letter I've been waiting for when I came upon this note and gift from a 7th year student; Laura Hyde inviting me to go watch her race horses this summer pinned to my door."
