Default Lovers' Lair

We all know that you're in love and that you just simply can't keep your hands to yourself... well, TOO BAD! This is the place to learn how to control your urges!

If you find yourself in this dungeon, it means you've disgusted someone enough with your public display of affection that they actually threw you in detention. Hogwarts is for filling your head with magic and knowledge, not for making sure you learn the art of kissing. Prepare to be punished, lover boy or girl.

follow me; everything is all right.

Normally a place of punishment for showing affection, the Lover's Lair dungeon has now been transformed into a place for encouraging affection— for your school! This is the perfect place to create school spirit posters, whether for Hogwarts itself or for one of the Houses.

The large house tables from the Great Hall have been duplicated down here and are covered with craft supplies. Gigantic rolls of colorful paper are in the middle of the room to get you started. Everything else you may need is sprinkled around the tables: pom poms, craft paint, glitter and glue, paint brushes, and so much more! Have fun showing school spirit and being creative with your friends!

OOC: If you would also like to enter the OOC competition to create a NEW HOUSE BANNER for your house, you MAY! Simply create a 400 x 200 graphic that shows your house's color and spirit. If you need inspiration, check out our current Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Staff graphics. When you're ready to PM your graphics (you can make as many as you want!) to The Narrator's inbox. We will be voting on these banners SOON, so ENTER TODAY!

The silvery figure was hovering close to the ground, her hands folded in front of her and her eyes were wandering doing a quick check-up in case any of the paint or glitter were spilled over. She slowly moved between the empty house tables, a serene look on her face.

This place was definitely going to be messy when the students were done with it. Now, just to wait for them to start filing in and trying their hands at art.

The lover's lair. What a clever name. Having never been down in this general area of the dungeons before, it was a bit of an eye opener. Goodness to Merlin, kids had detentions in these rooms? Granted, the room she was stationed in was a bit more...lively...now. The colorful papers and craft supplies brightened the area considerably, and certainly the presence of the ever lovely ghost of the Ravenclaw house would make it a bit more welcoming.

"My lady." she greeted softly towards the woman!ghost as she entered the craft area. Oh, glitter? Maybe she'd end up making a poster too.

Brrrrrrrrrr it was so cold down here. SO COLD IN THE DUNGEONS. Whose bright idea had it been to host a party down here? Huh? Huh? How were the kids supposed to get peppy when everything was so gosh darn nippy? Gosh darn GHOSTS THESE DAYS. LOOK, there was one now!

"Yarrrrr," Bunz mumbled in greeting to the Grey Lady as she shuffled into the Lovers' Lair. Lovers' Lair. Snort. What a name for a place. She barely even remembered what it was like to be young and in love and spouting PDA all over the place. Kids these days were too good at their PDA to even GET caught. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaar.

The redhead tugged her cardigan sweater dress thing tighter around herself and slowly made her way toward Romanos. "I swear, the colder it gets down here, the slower I move. It's the weather, I tell ya. Darn arctic blasts in October. It's getting earlier and earlier every year." Crrrrreaaaaaaaaak.

Wait, was that her hip? No, that was just the chair she was pulling out to sit down. The Headmistress parked her bum in the stiff wooden chair and squinted up at the dark-haired DADA lady. "So where are our school spiriters? Huh? Huh? Do I need to send you out there with a megaphone to drag 'em in?"

Ohh, artwork time!

Sophie wasn't much of an artist, BUT every power-hungry person loved to see their own work displayed loud and proud throughout the school. She should make a banner large enough to cover an entire corridor! She'd write her name REALLY, REALLY big and then "GO HOGWARTS" underneath it in barely visible letters.

Well, ...it was a thought, right?

Riiight. Sophie entered the area and saw one ghost and two adults. She approached the ghost and said, "Do YOUUUU talk to the students?" ...because the Fat Friar had been a BIG SNOB.

be curious, not judgmental

Upon casting her vote for one of the professors, Sophie made a beeline for the place in the dungeons that she figured would be the least likely to smell like vomit. Or have vomit near it. Or have that gross food near it - people knew better than to bring any of that moldy stuff over to a craft area, right? Sophie wanted to try the broom game thing and thought she'd be pretty good at it, but... she didn't trust the others nor their stomachs. Vomit was just GROSS. WHY WERE THE PROFESSORS ENCOURAGING IT.

Anyway, when Sophie heard someone talk about this part of the dungeons, she HAD to come running. She had more school spirit than anyone she knew. And more Ravenclaw pride. So... she was gonna come make something FIERCE. Or try to anyway and put forth a lot of effort and pretend it looked really nice.

When she got there, she was alarmed at the present company: the Grey Lady, who hated her, chatting with the other second year Sophie; the Headmistress, who she had just voted for to get a pie in the face; and Professor Romanos, who Sophie adored.

She knew if she tried to address the Grey Lady, the ghost would probably tell her she did it wrong or correct her grammar or something. So. She thought it would be best to not make eye contact with the house ghost and pretend she didn't see her for the time being. Good on the Newell girl for distracting her.

Meandering over to the main craft table, she took a long moment to survey them with interest before glancing over at the two professors, instinctively crossing her arms to give warmth to her frozen hands - she was suddenly aware of how chilly the dungeons were upon catching sight of Truebridge. Oh, they were looking for school spiriters? "You've got one right here. The most spirited of them all." She gave a mock pose of triumph. HEH. "Hi Professor Romanos," she greeted cheerfully and casually before forcing herself to offer the Headmistress an equally charming smile. "Headmistress." She bowed her head at the seated woman over yonder and continued, "I'm Sophie Brown, a second year. It's a pleasure to finally meet you properly. I've heard loads of good things about you - Professor Culloden and I were just talking about you the other day. And m'aunt is Erin James." So they were practically BFFs by association, right? "They both love you." Truth.

Well, she wasn't sure that Culloden LOVED Truebridge, but he HAD spoken very highly of her. It was at least the highest of admiration.

Having juuuuuuust stuck a small golden star sticker upon her cheek, just for the heck of it because...stickers, Medea glanced over her shoulder from the mumble of a voice she'd heard. Oh! Headmistress? Not that it was surprising, or anything, to see the woman in here. With the arts and crafts. Paint. Glitter. Messy.

....creaky seat.

"Zradsti, Headmistress." she greeted kindly, slow to take her own seat. Ahem. "Oh, I erm...I..." What? Oh, would you look at that! Students! Just when she needed them. Fancy star points for these two! The defense professor, finally plopped down in her seat, leaned against the table and settled in her chin upon the backs of her hands with a merry smile. "They are riiiight here. Good afternoon, Miss Brown." And Miss Newell, who was...preoccupied.

HOLD THE SNIDGET! How marvelous was THAT? Erin James? Their Erin James?...That one, yes!?

The headmistress seemed to be so openly shivering. Yarrr? Yeah, the ghost didn't really reply to that, a nod sufficed.

The Grey Lady's eyes widened at the creaking. That sound was highly inappropriate for a lady in public. Even if it was the seat, how much did the headmistress weigh again? Someone should cut down on feasts.

Hovering still in place in that exact position since everyone started walking in, the ghost looked down at the girl, not unfriendly. "What do you want to talk about?"" Because it depends, really. "A lady should be met with a greeting, first. Then we could talk."" Slytherins.

Then there was the unladylike Ravenclaw talking to the two professors. Mhmm, the Grey lady saw she was not standing straight. She still has time to learn. No worries.

Botros was feeling pretty good today! He was wearing a white shirt with a tie that brought out his blue eyes, his pants and shoes were freshly pressed and he walked aaaaaall the way down to the Dungeons on his own. He walked into the artsy corner with a bright white smile, "M'lady." A bow of the head to the ghost nearby, a hair ruffle to the slytherin standing next to her and then he started towards the two professors.

"Good day, headmistress. Professor. Little girl." What were the ladies talking about? He grabbed a chair for himself and set it next to the headmistress'. "It's crowded back there. I believe that's where the food is." The man laughed heartily at his joke before he craned his neck, taking a look at the tables.

There was a minute of surprised staring.

"WELL I'LL BE," Annie declared finally, tapping the back of the chair beside her. "You're related to my Erin! Have a seat, have a seat. Make me a banner. Oh yeah, she saw the Grey Lady over there. Being rude and ignoring her. GO ON, GHOST, GET OUTTA HERE.

The redhead twitched her nose and raised her eyebrows as Botros came striding in. Wow. "Look at you, spring chicken," she smiled at him, and took a second to absorb his joke.

The food.

The rotten food?!

"What is WRONG with those people?" she laughed with him. "The food's all rotten! It's for the ghosts, don't they know that?"

Heh. Or tell her. See what she'd do about it. Heheheheh.

...Well, the Headmistress was weirder than she had heard. Sophie couldn't deny her request, though, because getting an in with the Headmistress had just been the easiest task of her life. Culloden would be pleased with her for getting on the woman's good side so swiftly, wouldn't he? The second year scooped some craft supplies in her arms, picked a giant roll of blue paper, and made herself cozy in the chair offered to her by Truebridge.

And she was already wishing she had chosen Bellaire for the ballot box instead.

"You want a banner for you? Okay." The big grin on her face let the woman know she was just teasing. Unless... she really DID want a banner to celebrate HERSELF, in which case Sophie would oblige if there were house points involved. She would have to go grab a nicer shade of paper, though, like a yellow for Hufflepuff or whatever the woman's favorite color was.

Awwww. That was nice of her to say. "You're just sayin' that because you're best friends," Sophie giggled and shrugged, "but I wish she had stuck it out at least one more term so I coulda been here with her. All the students have talked pretty highly of her, though. One of the Slytherins even told me she saved some kids from dementors once, but I don't know if I believe that." She made a face. She knew there HAD been dementors and her aunt WAS cool, but Sophie had never really seen the woman's wandwork before and didn't peg her as being too skilled in that kind of area. They must've mistaken her Aunt Ernie for someone else.

Little girl? Did... the Ancient Runes professor forget who she was? Hadn't she made a proper impression in his office last term? Her face falling ever so slightly, she still chimed, "Hi Professor Botros. S'nice to see you again," she bowed her head in greeting as she unrolled the roll of blue paper, then rolling it a little bit and unrolling it again as she tried to decide how big to make the banner.

And then she realized she was going to have to make something in front of her Headmistress and two professors of whom she thought very highly.

Scary, but challenge accepted.

Sophie might not have looked like she was paying attention, but she WAS. So much so that she picked up on the fact that for the second time today, at this very event, somebody greeted literally everybody in the room BUT her. What was WITH people today?! First the Fat Friar, now Romanos.

How RUDE.

Then there was the unladylike Ravenclaw talking to the two professors. Mhmm, the Grey lady saw she was not standing straight. She still has time to learn. No worries.

What did she want to talk about? Well, ...nothing. "I just want to be greeted," she said. Once the words were out of her mouth, she realized how silly she sounded. She frowned then added, "Hello?" Was that the lady-like greeting the ghost required?

LITTLE GIRL?!

So somebody finally says something to her, and it's THAT? Or...maybe he was talking to Ravenclaw Sophie? It would make sense since everybody else had left her out of their greeting, as well.

BAHHH.

O_O.

Sophie was not afraid of this woman. She was not afraid of this woman. She was NOT. The woman...seemed alright. At least, Sophie didn't feel like her head was about to get bitten off or something. Okay, soo... "Hello, Headmistress Truebridge," she said, and she even followed that up with a grin. Err... "Cool party here." Yeah. She should add in a compliment, as well.

Even though she just voted for the woman to be pied in the face.

"Sophie Browwwwwn, second year," the Headmistress felt like repeating for whatever reason-- mostly to force herself to pay attention to the girl. Wait, wait, waaaaaaaait a minute... did she say she was related to Erin? THE Erin? HER Erin?!

There was a minute of surprised staring.

"WELL I'LL BE," Annie declared finally, tapping the back of the chair beside her. "You're related to my Erin! Have a seat, have a seat. Make me a banner. Erin was the BEST, you know, the best quidditch professional ever to work at this school." She nodded fondly and leaned in toward the girl. "But don't tell Professor Tyner I said that."

Heh. Or tell her. See what she'd do about it. Heheheheh.

With all the crafts calling to her, Medea slid one of the purple papers towards her, somewhat distracted with the Headmistress' and Sophie's conversation until Abraham joined them. "Good afternoon." she smiled up at the older gentleman before he took his seat, chuckling softly at his joke. Although, now that her attention was in that general direction, she noticed Miss Newell looking their way...whom she gave a little wave to. Was she still talking to the Grey Lady? Didn't fancy interrupting them.

"Oh, vhere's your sense of curiosity and adventure, Headmistress?" Choosing a particularly fine paint brush, she glanced towards the redhead, amused. "Ghost food doesn't sound a bit fascinating to you?"

Spring chicken? Botros grinned at that. "It's just a beautiful day today." And he was feeling pretty relaxed and just... good. Generally, he felt good, but this was a different sort of good. He didn't even want to dwell on it, just enjoy it!

Maybe he shouldn't have put on a white shirt today, Botros looked at the brush the DADA professor held, carefully. Cleaning and ironing were not some of his nifty skills. "Why, I do believe we have fewer artists around the school than we thought we did." He watched the foreign lady try her hand at something.

"Hello, miss Black."Pause. "--Brown! Hello. Great to see you here, too." The girl wasn't in his class yet, it was almost impossible to remember the correct surname from the first try. Botros ruffled her hair to make up for it.

The Slytherin and the ghost Lady seemed to be engaged in a conversation, his eyes didn't linger and he watched the lady with the brush next to him again.

She hadn't been in this particular room in the dungeons, but had been in one of them with Laura after being caught in the Forbidden Forest. Looking around at the tables, Zoe started towards the supplies. She wanted to do some banners! She thought the idea sounded fun and loved making pretty things. Mostly green but she could add a little green to everything, right?

Aw, the poor kid. Helena nodded her head again, "Well, hello to you too." Slytherins were so unusual, to politely put it. The ghost stayed where she was hovering waiting for more students to walk in.

Yes, she DID want a banner for herself. But..... something told her that would be frowned upon, at a school pep rally of all places? "Er... a banner for the staff, darling, that would be much appreciated by all the professors, I'm sure." She smiled stiffly. "Maybe something in pink or purple?" Because those were clearly neutral professorial shades.

"Best friend status aside," Bunz smiled a little more, "I wish she could have stuck it out too." She saved kids from dementors? The redhead shivered at the memory. "Yes... she was invaluable in a dark time... quite the mama bear of our staff." Good old Erin. "What's your auntie up to these days?" She hadn't heard from her in a while.

Cool party? Anastasia raised a brow at the girl, staring straight through her for a full cold minute, then cracking a smile at last. "It is cool indeed... physically, at least, because of the dungeons." She cranked her finger in a 'come hither' motion. "Come on, Miss Newell, surely you must have inherited some of your parents' talents... come make a house banner...."

"They don't ACTUALLY imbibe the rot, they just... try to see if they can taste its pungency." Or that was how she understood it, unfortunately.

Ghosts. *shiiiiiiiver*

"A beautiful day in the dungeons... sure...." Annie looked away rather than at Botros, who for some reason looked younger than she felt at the moment. Maybe it was just because this particular dungeon was only full of younger students.

And there was another one. One related to Tillstorm, no? "Coming to make a House banner? DO join us," she hopefully did not scare off beckoned to the girl.

Sophie spared a small smile for the ghost and may have said something else to her had the Headmistress not spoken up.

Sophie blinked. That brow raise made Truebridge just look scary... Sophie was left wondering if she said the right thing...or the wrong thing. Either way, at least she was being invited to help make house banners. They had to be good. Maybe aunt Sierra just ended up on this woman's bad side somehow. Truebridge didn't really seem THAT scary.

"Okay. I'll go get my brother and see if he wants to help," she said. He was her best friend, after all, and not many others seemed to want to talk. She turned and headed out the room in search of Caleb. She knew he was around here somewhere.

-----

OOC: Sometime later...

Still wide-eyed from what she'd just seen, Sophie poked her head back into the room to see if there were adults still around. Oh, good, there were. Safety in numbers and all. She just hoped her brother had followed her.

"Headmistress Truebridge," she whispered, her eyes still wide and her voice a little shaky. She pointed behind her and wagged her finger in the direction she'd just come from. "There's a...a plant. Well, not a plant, but I think there was a plant. Then this new ghost, she was just fine, and then...Bentley. Then there was finger pointing and accusations, and..."

Yeah. Stuff happened.

Caleb coughed softly as he followed his sister. Was it just him, or were the dungeons a lot COLDER than normal? Maybe it was all the ghost. His face wasn't too cold though, cause of the five o'clock shadow and all. That was getting really annoying and it seemed to be growing faster. They had NOT warned him how irritating facial hair was to maintain!

He walked up behind Sophie and nodded as she told the Headmistress what she'd seen. "It's true. I saw it as well. Definitely seemed like she was blaming her...well, you know, her CONDITION...on Bentley," he explained. If this was really the case he was NOT going to Herbology EVER AGAIN.

It was a dumb subject anyways and this was just a great excuse to boycott it. Mhmm.

"Had to come make sure this place wouldn't be TOO scary for you," Zahra grinned at him. But really, she'd just assumed HE would be first and had just come on down. HAD HE BROUGHT HER A SNACK? What if they were down here for a while?

Oh Kisses? Okay. She'd just keep her belly full with those.

SOOOO........... hehe. "LIke that STORY about the lazy fairy Briar Thorny Bush or whoever? You're taking us to the TRUE LOVE LAIR so we can show you how that true love's kiss magic works?" Man that was SO COOL. Zahra was SWINGING Mikey's hand proudly. "That is AWESOME professor. You're way cooler than I ever thought. Toussaint thought you'd have us cleaning slime... hahahaha!"

Of course they were going to Lover's Lair, Michael couldn't help but find that amusing. He walked along with Zahra, holding hands as they entered the dungeon. "I don't think Briar Rose was a fairy." He whispered to Zahra. Just throwing that out there.

"Well that's what mum said she had to do when she was in detention." The cleaning thing. "Although she did say that she had to babysit a bunch of Cornish Pixies once." That would be kinda fun. HAHAHAHAHAHA!! He had kinda forgotten that Professor Hadley was there.

Oh yeah? Well okay then! WHOEVER Briar Thorny Patch was... It probably didn't matter? That wasn't the point of the lesson was it? It was about pooping and kissing?

ANYWAY... Zahra was all focused and chatting with Mikey now, too. "Your mum was probably worse than we are. You know? She's got that ... like she's got SECRETS and will CUT YOU. She probably DID have to clean slime. But we're not that bad. We didn't do anything bad." They just hadn't chosen the right SETTING. Hehe. No big deal.

Though there was some slime on a wall...

...So Zahra reached her free hand over, got a huge wad on her finger, and wiped it on Mikey's arm. HAHAHA. "Now YOU need cleaning. PROFESSOR? CAN I CLEAN MIKEY?"

DID THEY HEAR THAT COOL ECHO? COOL. THE DUNGEONS WERE SO COOL!

ECHO ECHO ECHOOOoooOOOOOooooooOOOOOOOOoooo!

Taking them to show them that true love's kiss really works? Yeaaaa.... cause that was exactly the reason that she had placed them down in detention. Gosshh, Kettleburn, where did you get your wits? But instead of saying that, she just shook her head and lead them into the room.

And why were they talking as if she wasn't here? She was RIGHT here. Perhaps cleaning out Toussaint's ears would be of benefit.

Oh.... Zahra was asking her a question. "No. No. And no you will not be holding hands during your detention...." she gave them a stern look, flicking her wand at their hands. "Kettleburn? You like kissing? Sit here.." she pulled up a splintery wood chair for her. "These .. need kissing and who knows? Maybe one, will turn into a handsome prince?" She placed a large bucket of toads by the chair. "After you kiss each one, place it into this empty bucket." Surely as a Gryffindor she wasn't afraid of touching the amphibians...

"As for you... " she gave Mike a look, thinking. "I believe you need to focus more. So focusing on cleaning would be good for you." He did suggest it, didn't he? Handing him a toothbrush, she indicated casually towards the walls. "I'd start from one corner and work your around."

Zahra pulled a HUGE SIGH at the Professor, like GOSH PROFESSOR THEY WERE JUST HOLDING HANDS... but it was in good nature and with a grin. THEN Zahra let go of Mikey's hand.

Oh HAHAH WHAT. KISSING FROGS?

"You're talking CRAZY, Professor. And we're gonna have words if I end up with MOUTH WARTS. But for you... I'll do it. Since you told me about pooping when I die."

Zahra sat for a few beats, but was right back up after to LOOK into this BUCKET of FROGS. Hehe oh man. Oh man. "Mikey.. man... hahahaha look at 'em. I gotta kiss frogs. Bet this one is as good a kisser as you," Z said as she held up a particularly BIG frog for him to look at.

RIBBIT!

Kissing frogs was no big deal to Z. SHe'd put lots worse in her mouth. "Bet Toussaint gets jealous," she told the FROG before putting a big smacker on his back. EWWWWWWWWWWW hahahahahaha oh man!
