Default Staff Table

by Victoria Bunbury (BanaBatGirl)

Click Me To Enlarge!

The Hogwarts staff, some of whom may be attending their first feast ever, are already seated when you enter the start of term feast. Their traditional place is at a long table stretching across a raised dais at the back of the Great Hall. The usual Hogwarts crest hanging behind them has returned, even if it is a little frayed looking. The staff are also no longer using the drab paper plates and plastic sporks from last term; fortunately, the Hogwarts Board of Governors found the school's real silver silverware, heavy plates and goblets, and have restocked the school's house and staff tables with them.

Feel free to come up and greet the School staff after the Headmistress has given her speech... if you must. Remember your manners, children. Your professors like to have a quiet dinner too.

Having checked her watch constantly for the past three hours, Tiara Tyner finally slipped into her dress and headed out for Hogwarts. Though she wasn’t one for fashion, she was one for making a good first impression, so she’d labored over the outfit decision for at least ten minutes. The walk from Hogsmeade had still made her quite warm despite the short distance. She had welcomed the sight of the winged boars above the gates and followed the first few carriages up the winding driveway.

Now entering the Great Hall, the Quidditch Official noted she was definitely one of the first people to arrive. No matter. Head held high, confident stride. The click, click, click of her heels reverberated in the mostly empty room. Finding the dais she climbed the stairs and found her seat. Then she sat. And waited.

Callie had arrived at the Castle the day before with her trunks of clothes and other belongings all the way from the flat where she had spent half of the summer like she had spent the majority of the past four or so, living with Medea. She had only spent the second half of it with her friend because she had made a trip to the States to visit her home town, a bit of apartment searching, and a quick trip to Africa to investigate a form of Divination practiced by some local priests.

But being back at Hogwarts for a new term was definitely a plus, especially with her new promotion! The Ravenclaw Head of House, wearing her new pale blue dress clacked up to the Staff table in her white heels that had replaced her usual sandals. She decided a more professional look was necessary for this Feast so that she could great her students.

She approached the table and saw that it was mostly empty and that the spot next to her's (not Medea's) had a new face in it. As much as she would miss Erin, the new woman looked nice enough. She was dressed pretty too. "Hello there, welcome...or I guess maybe welcome back to Hogwarts depending on whether or not you attended here." Calista said with a smile as she sat down.

Fidgeting with the hem of her vest, Medea stealthily peaked into the great hall. Toes wiggling in her usual boots, she spied who was already seated. Callie was already there. Nooooo biggy. She'd gotten quite good at acting normal during the last portion of the summer. Back into the flooow of things and such. Her chakras were still messed up like a child on a sugar crash, but that was alright. She was working on it.

Taking a deep breath, she scooted into the hall and quickly made her way down to the staff table, eyes trained upon the floor. Hopping up the steps, her footsteps slowed down greatly until she was racing at snail speed towards her seat. Yup. Yuuuup. Almost there. Aaaaaand...sliiiiiiiiiiding into her seat, trying very hard to not move it or make any noise.

Was mighty successful if she did say so herself. Oh look, shiny silverware.

After having left a few posters up around the Astronomy tower, Airey made his way down to the Great Hall and to the dais - minus the shoe on his left foot because he couldn't get socks let alone a shoe over all the feathers. His usual smile wasn't as toothy as usual despite the desire to show off his two new front teeth had had had, er, installed thanks to some muggle dentists over the summer. There were also a few other things holding back his usual toothy grin, and two of them were already present.

Medea and Calista.

Having had two run ins with both women over the summer he would have assumed that the strange sensation of having his insides tangle into knots would have subsided, but alas. He just needed to act cool. Natural. Like nothing was wrong. Only everything WAS wrong. At least Calista looked confident - as she should be given her new position. Medea, on the other hand, well, let's just say he could empathize with her. Fidget fidget fidget.

Taking one last deep breath Airey stepped up to the table and instead of making a straight line towards his seat he decided to delay the inevitable passing of the two women and lingered around the new professor for a moment. More like loomed really. "GOOD evening!" he practically shouted at her because of his nerves. "Professor Flamsteed, I teach Astronomy. Here, have a poster," he said as he unceremoniously set one down in front of her. "Yes, well, welcome to Hogwarts then."

And now he was just going to walk RIGHT past Calista and Medea... only his body moved on its own and before he knew it he had placed two posters in front of them too. "Evening, Cadea...Malista," he said, grinning like an awkward cheshire cat for a few moments. "Lovely to see you both here." Sweet solstice did they both have nice hair tonight. As if he had the confidence to tell either one of them that though. It wasn't as easy as simply saying. "I like your hair.......uh um uh um uh um uh um uh um I-I mean...I like the air." And there he went mumbling right on over to his seat, leaving a trail behind of small white feathers as they fell off his foot.

All alone over here. With his posters.

Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede!

Leo headed down to the Great Hall after hastily dropping off his clothes, his cat and other belongings in his office. Why did his father have to get himself into a mess just before he had to leave for Hogwarts? Leo pulled a stressed hand through his dark curly locks as he made his way into the Great Hall. Scanning around the hall he could earn himself a moment or two to just breathe and relax. He was pretty early by the looks of things. Not many students or faculty had arrived yet.

Passing by the house tables he saw that Airey, Callie, Medea and an unknown woman had already claimed their seats on the dais. It took not many seconds to figure out that the unknown woman had taken over Erin’s job considering where she was sitting. Suppressing a sigh Leo headed up onto the dais. Suddenly sneezing loudly enough for it to echo around the hall "ATCHOOOOO!"he stopped. Wiping his nose with a handkerchief he dug out of his robes his eyes landed upon a trail of feathers on the floor heading in Airey’s direction.

Picking up a few feathers he walked over to Airey’s seat and nudged the man on the right shoulder. "Evening Airey," holding out the feathers he murmured. "I believe these are yours?" Dropping off the feathers Leo continued his walk past Calista with a cherry smile pursing his lips "Good evening Calista, nice dress and congrats on the promotion." Head of house was a big, important thing. Leaving the blond he proceeded past Medea’s seat where he hovered for a second. "Good evening Medea. You look lovely tonight." Yes, that she did. Very much so.

Leaving Medea he walked the short distance to where his new colleague/flying official without a name was sitting. "Good evening, welcome to Hogwarts! I'm Leobald Kitridge, the school librarian." He introduced himself with a bright smile. Heading over to his seat he sat down in it and closed his eyes for a moment.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

The little boat trip had gone pretty smoothly if Nick had to say it himself. One kid tripped over a stone, the other hit her head in the boat and two kids had been simply annoying..smoothly! How he had wished some of those kids were already sorted so he could have taken points from the houses. He could take points right? It was one of the true main reasons he had taken the job!

Anyways, before the feast began, Nick had quickly changed his clothes in his hut to look more presentable and had dashed his way to the Great Hall. The new Groundskeeper stepped up on the platform where the staff table was and tucked a little on the sleeves of his suit. The sleeves looked a little bit tight thanks to the muscles in his arms but did he care? Naaah! He looked around first, wondering which seat was his. "Good evening everyone" he greeted.Did it really matter where he sat down? He would find out soon enough cause he sat down on an empty space and casually leaned back in the chair. He was back.

What a summer she had, had. Sophia clicked into the Great Hall, clutch pressed to her side as she did her usual sweeping scan of the hall upon entering. It was good to see things near normal again but still her house-elf Marley was sitting in her office waiting for instructions.

Hopefully they wouldn't be served slop this year?

Where was Theodore? She'd send him an owl after the feast so he could meet her in her office the following morning..yes she'd do that.

Everyone at the table got a 'good evening' and a nod..Leo got a smile of course and she made the sign of the cross and directed that at Medea. Also she hung some garlic near her office door.

After settling in she continued looking around the Great Hall in usual Bellaire manner...judging...always judging.

Dalliesa | Ab-Bot | Hogwarts Trojan War |

Botros walked up to the dais, his cane was held with one hand as usual without really supporting him all that much. He had a serene smile on his face and noticed the new faces. "Good evening." So, like, he wasn't going to walk aaaaaaaaall the way along the table to shake hands with everyone. He wanted to save his energy for the food later, thank you very much. So instead he raised his cane in the air and made a huge wave with it, "Nice to meet you, miss and mister. I'm sure we'll have a better opportunity to chat later." Cane was lowered and he finally slumped onto his seat.

Just as he rested his walking cane on the edge of the table, he noticed the poster the Astronomy young man was showing to the others. Botros wondered what kind of mischief bizarre business the stars man was on this time but politely kept to himself. Then he spotted miss Romanos and Callie sitting a few seats away from him. He flashed them an extra smile. He wouldn't hear them over the students chatter, unfortunately. Or well, he would after a few tries.

Also. He moved his seat a few steps away from the Arithmancy's seat next to him. The woman could be still emotionally unstable and frankly he didn't want any closure tonight. Scoot scoot scoot!

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Train Ride wasn't too bad. He'd have prefered if students didn't use the Luggage Compartment as a little hangout, sleeping through the occasional hoots from an owl wasn't bad, but when students start to chatter chatter chatter chatter then it's a problem. He stopped by his office briefly dropped of his things and threw on the only nice suit he had. He walked to the dias and with both his hands pushed his hair up. Where was he supposed to sit? He looked over each empty seat, stopped when he eyed a blonde haired well dressed guy minus one shoe, and feathers sitting in front of him "FLAMS!" Tiberius screeched in his high-pitched mousy voice as he moved along to where his friend sat. "Sorry, about not telling you I was on the train. I'll make it up to you later." He slapped Airey on the back, and looked down at the posters in front of him. Flams should at least put a smile on to show off those nice new set of chompers.

Not wanting to be entirely rude, he gave the old guy a smile who was at the end of the table, and the two ladies who were two seats down from Flamsy...blushed at the sight of the blonde one, and turned his attention back to the old guy. "Hey there, nice night out isn't it. My names Dursley, Tiberius Dursley."Gotta respect the elders first, greet them before greeting anyone else.

Default Airey and Medea!

Melanie was a bundle of nerves and excitement. Who wouldn't be, returning to the castle to teach when the last time you were there, you were nothing more than an ill-experienced teenager? At least tonight she didn't have to worry too much. All she had to do was sit there and chat with her fellow professors and new students without making a fool of herself.

She made her way around the table, nodding at the few professors already present that she had to pass before sitting in her seat. The Astronomy professor was already there, to her right, she took the opportunity to say hi. "Melanie Roman, new Care of Magical Creatures professor," was that obvious? "...nice to meet you," she stuck out her hand for a shake.

And only a seat away from her to her left was another professor, though she couldn't remember what subject they'd teach. Melanie stuck out a hand to her, as well, "Melanie Roman."

Now to find out who would be on her immediate left...

The other professors were too far away right now to be politely greeted. Surely she'll catch them another time, in the staff lounge, or another meal, or perhaps just in the hall.

Before she could continue the conversation, however, a VERY loud greeting was directed at the new staff member. She blinked several times as she took in the newcomer. Are those.. feathers? This man CLEARLY did not care about his appearance at ALL. Tiara didn't care for fashion, but being well-kept and groomed was a necessity in her view.

"Good evening, Professor Flamsteed," she managed. Everyone deserved courtesy, even if they wouldn't do others the common courtesy of looking presentable. "I'm Tiara Tyner, new Quidditch Official. It's certainly a pleasure to meet you." Only then did she notice the poster he had forced on given her. After glancing at its content, she added, "And I will be sure to keep an eye out for.." she double checked, "Pebbles."

Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. She had excellent peripheral vision, born from the need as an official. An elderly professor seemed to be waving her down with his cane. Interesting greeting. Then again, he probably doesn't want to yell.. or get up and walk over here. She was excited to see an older gentleman on staff. He was probably full of wisdom and knowledge. She'd have to chat with him later.

Feast time. Anastasia quietly clicked into the hall and up to her seat, slipping out of her fancy faux-Nundu fur coat that she'd just had to wear to this occasion. She took a moment to see who was here.... Botros, no surprise that he was early.... Flamsteed, with a chicken foot.... hmm, new Care of Magical Creatures lady....Romanos....Elwood.... Bellaire, looking nice as always....Kitridge...mhm.....

Annie settled into her seat once her judgy blue eyes had given everyone a once-over. She gave a polite smile to the new Groundskeeper on her left, and a cool nod to the new Quidditch instructor on her right. Well. The woman wasn't Erin and this groundsman was no Firth, but they would do. They'd seemed.......qualified enough.

Annie filled up her water goblet while she waited for more students to get here. Look at that, real silverware. Should she point that out in her speech? The children ought to be grateful.

Minerva made her way up to the staff table. She hadn't even been at this table in a few terms. Why on earth was she up here now. The idea sounded better in her head back on the train where she didn't see the staff members faces. Taking a deep breath she didn't speak to any of them nor make eye contact. Maybe if she didn't make eye contact they wouldn't notice the prefect going behind the chairs. Not staying in front of the table.

She was thinking about last term as she continued and how fragile and weak she was. Then that detention happened and made things incredibly worse for her, but then the dementors and Tillstorm actually helped her. That was still bugging Minerva. Why would the wacka doodle help her after she was so mean to her. It made no sense to the seventh year, but neither did what she was about to do, but she wanted to do it for some reason. Maybe she wanted to prove that her spirit hadn't been broken last term by the evil women or maybe she was still a bit crazy for even thinking about let alone doing what she was about to do.

Pulling out the Healers empty chair Minerva made herself comfortable. Sitting in the healers seat. Yes the healers seat. Well this was an interesting view of the tables. So this is how it felt to be the healer at the start of term feast. She could really see it. Healer Wheatborn McCarthy taking over the evil healers spot to make the school have a nice caring healer. One that wouldn't terrify the students so much. It had a nice ring to it if she said so herself. This could work she had to admit.

She turned her head smiling at the new victim grounds keeper. Well this was the what sixth new groundskeeper in her seven terms here. Good luck to you sir. Min kept the smile on her face even though her nerves were getting the best of her. She would sit and wait for Tillstorm to come.

SPOILER!!: Airey and Tiara

And yes, welcome back in my case, though it has been quite a while. Tiara Tyner, new Quidditch Official," she said, sticking out her hand for a firm shake. "And you are..?"

Slumping in her seat a fair bit, she picked up the shiny fork and fiddled with it as she waited for the feast to begin. Or for the sorting to begin. Anything to begin really. Biting the side of her lip, she just started to flick the top of the fork when loudness with the greetings happened.

___SNIFFLING SNIDGETS!

_______CLINK TINK CLINK!

Dropping her fork, which unluckily dropped from the table to the floor, she made a poor attempt at catching it while turning her focus to Airey. Who was wearing a very nice vest.......Resulting in epic hand smashing on the table. That was not an awesome feeling. Holding her ouchie hand, she didn't even notice the mistake in names. She just smiled and nodded. A lot. A lot of nods. And glancing to Callie.

"You too, here, Airey..." Airey. Air. Hair. Here. Air. Feathers.........What?

Leaning forward somewhat to glance over to the Astronomy professor, in concern or just to glance it didn't really matter, the posters finally registered in her mind and she turned her gaze towards the new Flying instructor. Who's name was, right on the tip of her brain. She was not going to let her messy chakras ruin her manners!

"Good evening." She leaned even more forward to speak past...Callie. Oh dear. Ahem. "Forgive me, it vos...Tiara Tanner you said?"

Trying to reach her fork on the ground without really getting out of her seat, which was a task in itself, she finally got to just grazing it with the tip of her finger when she heard her naaaaame...OH MY! Sitting up straight, her eyes widened a little before she cleared her throat and casually fixed her hair before smiling softly. "Oh, thank you, Leo. You're looking very handsome tonight as vell."

Resuming her mission to try and reach her fork, she noticed a few more of the staff members arriving at the table with her little line of vision that she had...from practically under the table itself. But alas! She got her fork, without leaving her seat. Gold star to her!

Using her wand to clean it, she smiled and nodded to what looked to be...well honestly, she didn't know who the man was. Which seat was he sitting in again? Leaning a little against the table to try and see, her attention was diverted to the ever lovely Transfiguration professor giving her a oh so funny hand signal sign thing. Har har, funny.

Medea made her own heart sign and directed that back to the woman.

Oh, and of course Botros! "Good evening, Botros." She smiled warmly towards the man, making a mental note to at least visit the professor's office this term. Or something. Though she wasn't going to make it to the end of the feast with all these unexpected loud greetings. Good Merlin! Least she didn't have anything to drop this time.

Ahem. New professor. Medea smiled hesitantly back. New...slapping greeting professor.

And even more new staff members were joining them. Hopefully, a little quieter and weren't too animated with their greetings like what she just witnessed, but, they are who they are! She would appreciate the fun nature of it.

Oh! Magical creatures she'd said? Or...right?

"A pleasure to meet you." she spoke kindly with a smile to match, reaching out to shake the woman's hand. "Medea Romanos. Defense Against the Dark Arts."

Having thoroughly scrubbed her fork until it was shiny and new looking again, perhaps a little too much, she set it down and straightened out her setting. And then did so again, rearranging the items around until...

They were right back where they started.

Oh look! Headmistress! Looking mighty serious and all of that, in a rather unnecessary fur coat from whatever poor creature it once belonged to but that wasn't what mattered. The feast was going to start sooooooon!

Now they have had students come up to the staff table before the speech was made plenty of times before, so she didn't pay much attention when one of their new prefects came up the steps. Until Medea looked up a moment later and couldn't find the girl standing anywhere.

What...she change her mind? Headmistress glare at her to death or something?

...Oh dear, the thought made even her shudder.

Ah, and there was the Headmistress! Tiara had done her research and she knew that Annie definitely took pride in her smart dress. "Good evening, Headmistress. You're looking sharp this evening!" The tone wasn't one of surprise, but of appreciation.

Again using her excellent vision, she saw past Annie to another new colleague. "Goodness, it looks like one of my new coworkers is fresh out of university? That makes me feel dated, it does." Honestly, that woman didn't look a day over twenty. Tiara made up her mind to ask her for her secret.

After greeting the Headmistress in the entrance, Pierson made his way across the hall, taking a moment or two to look around at all the students who were already waiting for the feast to begin. He could just remember being a student, waiting for what seemed like hours for the food to appear on the tables. And although he wasn't a student anymore, he was still hungry.

As he made his way up to the staff dais, Piers' eyes started at the far end, glancing at each face already there. He didn't take too long to look at them, though. He came around and slid into his seat before deciding introductions were nice. He turned to his right and extended his hand as he spoke, "Good evening. I'm..."

... hold uuuuuuup. Squint. He knew her! "Melanie?"

Oh dear. This was potentially awkward.

Airey was absently touching the picture of Pebbles on the topmost poster of the stack in front of him and pretended that he was actually petting her when the sound of a sneeze broke his imagination. He was too, well, sad about Pebbles to come up with any sort of snappy sarcastic remark when the librarian set the feathers down in front of him.

"Oh, um, thank you, Leobald," he said half heartedly with a meek thumbs up. "Put one of these up in the library for me, will you?" he asked as a sort of afterthought before handing him a poster. Not that Airey was too sure about the librarian's finding skills. Hadn't been able to find, let alone identify, a supposed thief and probably had never found his wallet.

Okay, so no snarky comment out loud it seemed.

"Sorry about the, um, feathers," he said while wiggling his foot. "Results of a spell. Haven't been able to reverse it.........yet."

Well well weeeeeeeeell...look who it was. Airey had heard rumors that someone else from his graduating class was coming to work at Hogwarts, but he had been hoping for, well, not the meathead.

"Hey there....Sticky Nicky," he grinned, a glimpse of momentary happiness flashing across his face as he wiggled his fingers towards the new Groundskeeper. Hopefully the man wouldn't find himself in too many sticky situations this coming term. Hogwarts could sure use a Groundskeeper to last longer than a term - if what the Daily Prophet said held any merit.

Also. He moved his seat a few steps away from the Arithmancy's seat next to him. The woman could be still emotionally unstable and frankly he didn't want any closure tonight. Scoot scoot scoot!

Putting his wiggly fingers down on the table, Airey's attention was drawn to...HER! The woman who had not only abandoned the entire student body during the dementor attack, but all his poor defenseless Pebbles who he had TRUSTED her to watch over during the quidditch match. Well, he had learned HIS lesson. Don't trust your pet rock with the Headmistress. He was sure there was something else to be learned from this, but her red hair was too distracting right now.

He did, however, levitate five posters in front of her and had them land right in the middle of her plate. Yeah. REMEMBER HER, HEADMISTRESS?! "Evening, Headmistress," he greeted, now that he assumed he had her attention.

And he saw you too, Professor Bellaire, all the way down there. He levitated a posted for her to have as well.

And then there was the sort of familiar sound of a cane and Airey felt his ego deflate once again as memories from last term came back. Yeah, Old Man River had been able to help students whereas all he had done was feed them ice cream and get them almost killed. Bloody brilliant role model he was. Couldn't even conjure one patronus when it was most needed.

His eyes briefly glanced towards Medea, hoping that she had been able to get over her depression over the issue as well. Must have hurt her a billion times more, being the Defense Against the Dark Arks professor and all.

But back to the Ancient Rune professor...and the gap between them. Odd that the Arithmancy professor wasn't here yet. Airey would have assumed she would be here early considering she had yet another Head Boy from her house.

Airey squirmed in his seat a moment before passing a poster to the old man and inclined his head in a sheepish greeting. Women and old people. He was no good talking to either of them

Speaking of women.....

Glad that his forever alone sandwich was no more - in other words someone was sitting next to him finally - his eyes looked to her hand first and then her face. "Airey Flamsteed, Astronomy," he replied, taking her hand and shaking it. He paused for a moment to inspect her outfit, just the sleeve mind you, for any creature fur that may be there. He had forgotten his gift bag of lint rollers in his haste to put up posters, so he would have to bring those to her office later.

Assuming he worked up the nerve to do so.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance."

And then a new person showed up. A man. Who knew the new professor. Two new people who knew each other and were just oozing awkward. Right, third wheel Airey was just going to go back to petting his poster now....

The whole irony of the situation was, not that the new Quidditch official would know this seeing as she knew nothing about him and he knew nothing about her, was that Airey had spent all morning, afternoon, and parts of his evening ironing his suit, and tie, and vest the muggle way to ensure its aesthetic perfection for the feast. One misplaced spell and, well, this is why he always said he was a scientist before he was a wizard.

"Please is all yours, I mean mine. Pleasure is all mine," he said with a nod. "And thank you. I am hoping she shows up by the first quidditch match. It's a tradition that we watch them together."

SPOILER!!: Nick, Sophia, Botros, and Tiberius ♥

Right. Air. Hair. Medea's hair. Face. No. Not looking at her face. But she wasn't going to tell him that he looked nice too? Wait. What? No. Never mind. Just going to shove his hands in his pockets and try not to make eye contact with her - so thank you to the new Creatures professor for being a sort of buffer. And the new...Charms professor? He assumed that was who the guy was anyway.

And then he saw Miss Wheatborn approaching the dais. He assumed she had come to thank her Head of House on her new role, only her Head of House wasn't here so what was she going to.... Oh.

Oooooooooooooh! Now THAT was gutsy. The only move he could think of that would be more bold would be to sit in the Headmistress' seat and pretend to be her. Which would be even MORE hilarious now because the seat was already occupied.

"Healer Wheatborn, getting an awful early start this evening," he said to the girl in a slightly raised voice. He was all for pranking Cece - or anyone really - even if he wasn't in the mood to initiate things himself.

And when he said early...he meant a DECADE early at least.

Still, good to know she was still set on following her dreams, yeah?

That voice. THAT voice. THAT VOICE! HE KNEW THAT VOICE.

"CAPTAIN! YOU MADE IT!" he exclaimed just as his best mate gave him a good ol' slap on the back. Oof. "Nice suit. I approve." Obviously. And YEAH, about that train ride. Airey had been rather disappointed to not have taken the journey to Hogwarts together, for old times' sake, but he was just glad to finally have a guy friend around.

His track record just was NOT good.

Grinning and showing off his new teeth, Airey grabbed his friend by the arm and pulled him down into the empty seat before leaning over to whisper to him, "Don't leave me."

Default Medea Headmistress and Airey O_O...and some Min
Frangelina || twitter addict || Music of the Sun || The Fresh Princess of Bellaire

Sophia caught that heart sign Medea showed her but she 'pfft' it off. What did Vampires know about love anyways? She trusted Medea as far as she could throw her, which was not very far at all.

Everyone got a nod of the head from her as they took their places but her eyes were pretty much still glued to the students...watching..judging...

And Annie got her outfit analyzed because she was the headmistress and therefore needed to set a certain standard but her outfit looked good..as it always did....back to glaring and staring...

What? What was this????

She took the poster and stareeed at it, then sent a look up the table at Airey and staaared at him..incredulously...then blinked...then she looked at the poster again then sucked her teeth producing that sound only a Jamaican would know how to make to express completely disapproval.

Flamsteed clearly had a few screws loose in the noggin. She looked at the Headmistress too and waved the poster. Was she the only who noticed this man had a pet ROCK?

She shook her head but her eyes were drawn to another oddity at the table. What in blazes was Miss Wheatborn doing at the staff table...before the feast even started and IN Cece's seat? She Bellaire stared the girl down from her end.

Minerva couldn't believe how well the professors were doing with this. She gave nods and smiles to all that had noticed her. Did they like her and trust her that much that they knew she wasn't there to cause too much trouble? Of course they did. In the seven years she had been there she was never in real trouble, well except last term, but that term was being chalked up as didn't happen in her head. Nope she was forgetting any of that crazy, horrible, plant burning didn't happen. No duck poop, no hugs, no plants, no nothing. Either that or they were waiting to see her get laid out by Tillstorm. Did the professor want some entertainment and that was why they were waiting. For a second she could hear DEAD GIRL SITTING ringing in her ears, but she shrugged it off. This was not going to go bad, would it.

No.. She was comfy here, folding her hands on the table she looked around a bit. This was a nice view of the place. So nice and then she saw the posters and frowned a bit. Poor Flamsteed with that silly rock of his. She wanted to get him a real pet like a puppy or even a pygmy puff, but she figured he would just try to lint roll the poor animal until it ran into the forbidden forest away from him. Her blue eyes looked up at him as he said Healer Wheatborn. Healer Wheatborn she really was liking the sound of that. Big smiled for Flamsteed, "Never to early to catch your dreams sir. I think you were the one to tell me not to give up." That was him last term wasn't it. Maybe all his pranks last term inspired her to be sitting here right now. Even though she was still not happy about the Sneezing issue, but whatever over now.

Just to show she was over it she looked back over at him, "Umm Professor Flamsteed if you would like. I could take some of those posters and put up on the badger board and around the common room so students can keep their eyes open for pebbles." She had lost her pets a time or two so she knew how it felt to have a missing pet.

Botros was minding his own business watching the kids talking energetically and picking fights with each other when something moved at the corner of his eye. A poster? "What is it?" Since he'd greeted his fellow professor just a minute ago, the old man took the poster and started reading. Hmm. HMMM. Oh "Pebbles" was lost? The picture on the poster made it look like a homemade stuffed pet, but Botros didn't comment on that. Instead, he cleared his throat, claimed a sorry, considerate face and nodded, "I will certainly keep my eyes out for... him(?). Feo's too. And might post this on the noticeboard by my office." Because he'll forget where he put it otherwise.

Then there were shouting and enthusiasm and Botros just watched the new man exchange a heartily greeting with the Astronomy professor. Apparently they knew each other? He didn't expect the new professor to turn his attention back to him, but probably it was inevitable since he was sitting RIGHT there. Botros smiled and patted his chest, close to the heart, in reply. "Abraham Botros, ancient professor for ancient runes. It's exciting to meet you, Mr. Dursley." The old man's eyed then went up to the Astronomy professor giving him an amused look. Having a reunion with a friend in Hogwarts must be thrilling!

She'd have to chat with him later.
Yes, he was definitely visiting the professor's office out in the grounds. Maybe she'd get him a special broom for relatively slower flying? He missed it.

Botros stared, his mouth formed into a small o as the Hufflepuff just went ahead and took the healer's seat. Did she know that seat was taken? Did she know WHOSE seat was that? Botros wanted to usher her over to try the seat next to him instead but she was too far away and he didn't want to shout with the presence of everyone. So he just watched, and shook his head at the girl's reckless unnecessary stunt.

This one wasn't so hard, she was bidding him good evening or day or any other equivalent greeting. "Good evening to you too, miss Romanos. Always glad to see you doing well." The last time he saw her last year, she was in an unwell shape and it made his fatherly heart hurt for her (and the others). It was good to see her smiling again.

He figured Flamsy would approve of the suit. He won't tell him how it was acquired though, that would be a bit of a messy tale to tell. It was great to Airey here. He was only able to stare off into space for a moment reminicing on the mischief they got into
as he felt a hand tug him down onto the empty chair between Airey, and the Old Man he had only just introduced himself to. "Suppose I can sit here." Tiberius adjusted himself in the chair, only to just hear a loud clang and look across the table at the Dark Haired Lady fumble with a fork...his eyes of course moved along to the Blondie again, and he jerked his head back. "Leave? No...hey whose the blonde one sitting next to the Clumsy Fork Flinger?" Flams would help him out here. He did trust the Noble Steed after all when it came to this kind of stuff with ladies, his best mates expertise was much better than his own. Introduce him and what not.

Well now that he was sitting, although he sort of felt off from where he was. he could continue his conversation with the Old Man beside him. "Pleasure to meet you er...Abraham." That felt weird speaking to the Ancient Ancient Runes Professor with his first name. Sure they were clearly colleages but the Old Man was clearly..what 40 years his senior?...Hmmm on the other hand there was someone else at the table who looked to be 20 some years younger than him. The Headmistress really wanted to diversify the staff didn't she. "Ancient, no. You don't look a wrinkle past 60." Tiberius tried his hand at the complement. He felt as if he had missed something. OH! Abraham had given his subject he taught, so should he! "I'll be taking up History of Magic." He leaned over to the man and spoke in a low voice, his hearing had not gone entirely yet Tiberius hoped. "Oh FYI Pebbles is a girl rock.".He gave Airey a concerned look, then sat straight up.

He let off a long yawn and looked out at the Tables and specifically at the Hufflepuff one. The young boy he met on the train had been sorted into that house. he'll need to return his book that he found for him in a bit.

The sleeves looked a little bit tight thanks to the muscles in his arms but did he care? Naaah! He looked around first, wondering which seat was his. "Good evening everyone" he greeted. Did it really matter where he sat down? He would find out soon enough cause he sat down on an empty space and casually leaned back in the chair. He was back.

Eyes closed Leo could still hear the distinctive sound of a chair being pulled out somewhere to his left. Opening his dark brown eyes squinted several seats down until his eyes landed on the broad-shouldered man sitting in Ali’s seat. Sigh. Plastering on a cheery smile he waved slightly to get the man's attention. "Good evening, welcome to Hogwarts. I'm Leobald Kitridge, the school librarian." He introduced himself. It was that kind of night.

The next person to arrive on the dais needed no introduction from him. Beaming brightly at his best friend Leo called over as she sat down in her seat at the end of the table. "Evening, Sophia...You look very pretty tonight. Good summer break?" If time allowed it he'd seek her out in her office after the feast.

Next to arrive was Abraham that was waving about with his cane in the air. Leo waved back in the senior man’s direction. He didn't call out a greeting because it was doubtful that Ab would be able to hear him over the high pitched chatter in the hall.

Tiberius screeched in his high-pitched mousy voice as he moved along to where his friend sat. "Sorry, about not telling you I was on the train. I'll make it up to you later." He slapped Airey on the back, and looked down at the posters in front of him. Flams should at least put a smile on to show off those nice new set of chompers.

Flams?????

Leo eyes widened and his ears almost made a shudder as yet another new person entered the dais with a high-pitched mousy voice. And it looked like he already knew Airey. Leo didn't bother shouting down a greeting all the way down to the other end cause he didn’t know where the man was going to sit so he just settled with a little wave.

Another woman without a name proceeded up on the dais to sit down next to Medea which if Leo's conclusions were correct would make her the new Care of magical creature's professor. Given the distance he just politely gave her a wave and a smile. If luck had it he'd meet her somewhere else in the castle or on the grounds and could make her acquaintance then.

Leo's cheery smile broadened into a beam as he shook the new Flying official's hand. "Pleasure to meet you Tiara; you are most welcome to stop by the library anytime you want to borrow books." More library visitors meant more fun. "Got any book genres you like to read more than others?"

Leo had been focusing on the activity down by the studen't tables so he at first didn't acknowledge that Annie arrived until their eyes met briefly. "Good evening Headmistress." he called over with a bright smile.

Filling up his water goblet Leo watched as Minerva Wheatborn of hufflepuff made her way up onto the dias. If she was looking for Josephina she hadn't arrived yet. What made Leo eyes widen slightly was that the prefect he just then saw the badge glittering, sat down in Cece's chair. There were some seats you didn't sit down in if you know what was good for you. Watering his lips he adressed her with raised eyebrows. "Miss Wheatborn, do you need help with something? Is someone ill at the badger table?"

Trying to hold himself from blushing too much as Medea complimented him back Leo was glad when his attention was distracted by Piers whom he had met in Hogsmeade earlier in the summer. It seemed that Annie had decided to employ him to fill the hole Ivy had left. If only they weren’t sitting at opposite ends of the table. Leo gave Piers a little and a wave. He’d seek him out later in the week and congratulate him to the job.

Okay, hold up. where was the snarky comments and well Airey’s usual need to make fun of things like him? Slightly confused but he didn’t show it Leo took the poster from the stars man. He eyed it briefly before he said compassionately."You're welcome. I’ll put these up for you around the library. I hope you'll get Pebbles back soon. I know how it feels to not know where your beloved pet is."[/B] Yes, he did. Leo was ever grateful that his cat Madonna had found her way back to the library just as he had been finishing his packing for the summer.

"Don't worry about it. It was just feathers." He said with a shrug as he rolled up the posters and pocketed them in his robes.

Watering his lips he adressed her with raised eyebrows. "Miss Wheatborn, do you need help with something? Is someone ill at the badger table?"

Minerva continued to smile and look around at the adults at the table. She could really get use to this. You know sitting up here mingling and things, even though she did like being with her house that was fun too, but for now she wasn't moving. She was waiting on someone. Which looking at the table there were many someones not there yet. Tsk Tsk Tsk professors. Late for the feast. They should get Professor points taken away or detention from a student for being late. A more evil if Min could do evil grin crossed her face thinking about being allowed to tell Tillstorm and Lafay she was giving them detention for being late to the feast. Oh that would be fun now wouldn't it.

Her thoughts were distracted though as she felt eyes burning a whole into her. Looking down the table she saw Professor Bellaire. She gave her a small smile and little wave then turned back to looking at the student tables. Not that the woman terrified her, no that was Lafay's job, but she did have a high respect for the transfiguration professor just as she did for almost all of the professors that sat here. Glancing around her eyes landed on a new professor. Oh who was that one.. She wondered as she tried to remember who usually sat there. Hmm charms, Professor Knox last term. Hmmm she might need to say hi to some of the new professors now wouldn't she.

Then she heard her name again. Oh someone else wanted to recognize Healer Prefect Wheatborn.. She giggled to herself at the thought and tuned looking at Mr. Kitridge. It was easy to see him since two professors were not in their seats yet. Giving him a big smile she shook her head, "Oh no Mr. Kitridge, nothing is wrong. Everything is wonderful actually. Ready for a new term to start?" Small talk was best wasn't it. Cause a diversion to his thoughts of her not suppose to be in this seat.

Again using her excellent vision, she saw past Annie to another new colleague. "Goodness, it looks like one of my new coworkers is fresh out of university? That makes me feel dated, it does." Honestly, that woman didn't look a day over twenty. Tiara made up her mind to ask her for her secret.
"Well thank you," Annie smoothed out her skirt and looked over to...Tyra, was it? She would have returned the compliment if Erin had been saying it, but since it wasn't Erin, it was Erin's replacement.... she said nothing in reply.

She did follow the woman's line of sight toward Cece's seat, though. "She's not even old enough to attend university yet..." the redhead murmured under her breath. Oi, that was Wheatborn in Cecelia's seat! What was she doing there? Presumptuous prefect!

[...]

Everyone was really starting to come through the great oak doors now. Annie was just staring around the hall with a pleasant enough expression when... BAM! a thick wad of.....posters?????....attacked her plate. Anastasia glared down at the stack for disrupting her peace and looked up only when she heard someone address her by name.

"Flamsteed," she returned the greeting coolly. So he was the one responsible for besmirching her name in his 'lost rock' quest. Hmmph. It seemed to Annie that the only lost rock here was Flamsteed's missing brain.

Was he in on this Wheatborn prank? She noticed how he called the prefect Healer Wheatborn, instead of Miss Wheatborn...hmm hmm hmmmmmmmm....

There she was again, actually ANSWERING to the title of Healer! "MISS Wheatborn," Anastasia called down the table quite loudly, "I don't recall hiring a second healer this summer." She gave the girl a pointed LOOK that said she didn't BELONG up here, obviously. Had it been a mistake to prefect the girl?

"Mr. Dursley, I'm glad to see you made it safely to the school," the Headmistress called out a greeting nonetheless and sent the new hire a stiff nod down the table.

"Evening, Leobald," the Headmistress returned Leobald's greeting with a slight sight to herself. The term hadn't even officially started and already she was reprimanding her own staff. Not the librarian, though, he was seldom a problem.
