 Before you can open the door to the library, a big line of multicolored turnstiles magically materializes out of thin air to effectively block your path. You cannot go around the turnstiles and using magic on them will not have the slightest effect. If you want to enter, you need to pay a flat fee of 8 sickles to get in every time you wish to come in. You insert the money in the little hole on top off one of the turnstiles. The turnstile will then unlock and will allow you to pass through and get into the library.
OOC: The turnstiles will be seen by everyone regardless of year, house, or age. You must make at least one post in here before posting elsewhere in the library forum this term. If you don't, watch your back. 
AND PLEASE NOTE: You CANNOT go around, under, over, etc. the turnstiles. Not only are the little bars physically blocking your path, but they also as a whole act as an invisible force field barring you from the library until you pay. Please cooperate with this portion of the plot or your posts WILL be deleted. | |

So now there turnstiles at the library...
It was almost enough of a reason to make her turn back and forget about using the library. Almost. Penelope actually really wanted to get into the library for once, so a turnstile was not enough to stop her. Good thing she'd saved up on her money a lot for a few months, and she happened to bring some with her. So she gave it the required 8 sickles, though a bit reluctantly, and then made her way through to the library.

There are turnstiles right in front of the Library entrance. Turnstiles
The petite one put her hands to her hips, jaw slightly askew and her big brown eyes shifting about. Was there a train that would transport her around said library? Was this a private library? Was Hogwarts such a school that it didn’t have a library of its own and had to hire a vendor to provide such services? If such does it deserve to be called a school in the first place?
“Ridiculous.” She muttered under her breath.
But it was the Library, and like some unfathomable force she is drawn to such places where books congregate in oppressive numbers. Besides she was told how fantastical it was by the Ravenerd. And this brunette wanted to see if it was something she can begrudgingly agree with, or yet another thing she can heckle him with.

The library too? So what were they gonna do about the poor kids? The ones that couldn't afford all this? Because they'd fail all their exams and whatnot right? Wellll good thing West was neither poor nor the sort to fail anything. He put a couple galleons in, intending to set himself up for a while, and then went on into the library.

Well then... looks like prepping for exams won't come cheap. Wade's brows furrowed at the asking price. "Good thing, I didn't come back empty handed, Since he had a slight suspicion that the turnstiles wouldn't be gone completely. There was no use spending time counter-thinking of the why's and how's, he had some things to take care and well.. this now was one of them.
Fetching in his pocket, he fished out some galleons beneath the many knuts before putting three in. Since it was Wade's NEWT year after all, he'll definitely need to return here more than once throughout the year. Now taken care of, he pushed right on through to enter with ease.

Schuyler slowed to a stop as something began to appear right before her, blocking her entry to the library. Were these..? Turnstiles? As in turnstiles like the kinds muggles used to get to the subway. But... for a library...
Okay, this was very odd. But after a shake of her head, she sorted through her bag and retrieved the proper amount. Eight sickles went into the slot, and through the clanky, muggly machine she went.
This was going to be a nuisance.

No PLEEAAASE no. Not this year. Not with OWLs coming. Not with the threat of No Quidditch hanging over her head if she didn't get good enough grades... Not with her need for her own broom and the painful saving up she was trying to do... This was so not fair. She NEEDED her money. She was CAPTAIN. She NEEDED her OWN BROOM. DID NOBODY UNDERSTAND THE URGENCY? HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO KEEP UP WITH HER TEAM WITHOUT ONE?!
Where was she supposed to go to hide from everything? She'd have to find a new quiet place to hide... somewhere with books. God, that place didn't EXIST outside the library. Sigh.
Anyway, she needed to get in right now, because she was going to have to check out at least a weeks worth of books at a time if they had to PAY. So she fished in her pocket and counted out eight sickles... She only had ten sickles. Meh. She paid the fee and went through the turnstiles. Sigh.

After all of the turnstiles last year, Eliza had known better than to return to Hogwarts without some spending money. Her parents had made sure to send her with some coins for the machines this year, and thankfully it would be enough to get a lump payment in and last her a while. She'd hated digging for coins or asking to borrow one from someone if she'd forgotten to bring hers. The whole thing was a bit ridiculous if you asked her. And unfair. They'd already paid their tuition, which she seriously would've thought covered things like this. Things like this that shouldn't exist anyway, because they were unnecessary and trivial. Because she just wanted to check out books that they already owned and read in the library that they already owned. Just because someone had stolen from the school, due to someone's serious lack of security or competence, didn't mean it should fall on the backs of the students and their families. She didn't like it one bit.
But still, she let a galleon slip through her fingers and into the cold greedy slot of the turnstile all the same.

Forrest walked to the library pretty sure that the turnstiles were history. The Headmistress had promised so, and promises were to be kept. So he didn't prepare any money for entering the library. He was really just going to look anyway. He wasn't going to take any book just yet.
But the turnstiles were there. He blinked. They weren't going away. But they shouldn't--he tried walking past them, but they were solid and his legs protested. He grunted and took a few steps back to see the fee. Eight sickles for every time?! He groaned again, and searched for a galleon in his bag. He inserted it at last, and entered.
How many sickles was a galleon, again?

The third year old looked with her eyes wide at the turnstiles before her... DID SHE NEEDED TO PAY AGAIN! Why? The school was out of the financial problems, right? "This is stupid" said Sonea angry while she payed and could walk further. "I'm going to tell this to my mom and she wouldn't be happy about this" said Sonea angry to herself, not caring if anybody could hear her. Her mom and dad have already paid for her to be here, so she HATED it be here again!
But... she had paid and now she could do what she wanted....... searching for the restricted library and breaking some rules...

The thing Angeal had been looking forward to when he arrived at Hogwarts, the library. He paced quickly towards the sanctuary, his face brighter than usual. A faint smile was visible until he saw turnstiles. Those exactly similar to the ones used in muggle subways. The smile turned into a frown as he saw the note eight sickles per entry. Why did the students had to pay to enter a school library? It made no sense to him. He dug into his bag and took out eight silver coins, putting them into the hole ontop of one of the turnstiles before pushing his way in.
Eric will hear about this! At least he would explain something to him or send him more money. | |

Leo arrived at the turnstiles with his arm full of books and rolls of parchment. How was he going to manage this with no free hand? He pondered it for a moment before he carefully placed all the books and parchments on the floor. Fishing up two galleons from his left robe pocket he ceremonially plunked them into the turnstile. That amount would hopefully last him a good bit through the year.
Picking up the books and parchments again the librarian proceeded into the library.

Kat was going to spend time in the library today... because she had to study for NEWTs in advance and she hasn't been here too much last term. She was only making up for the time she didn't spend in here, and because she didn't go here much. It made her feel guilty because she did like Mr. Kitridge. Help dude, he was. So her final year at Hogwarts was going to be dedicated to Quidditch, studies, and NEWTs. Though it might be hard because Quidditch was her everything and then NEWTs would determine her future.
Ugh. Decisions. Kat hated making decisions.
......... Weren't these turnstiles supposed to be gone now? Kat glared at them. They took away the turnstiles from the common room and the great hall, but they sure placed them in the library entrance. OH HOGWARTS, WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU GOT? Hesitantly, Kat dropped 8 sickles in the turnstile. Yeah...... yeah. Whose idea was this? The Slytherin Head Girl was gonna complain at his/her face.

Beezus knew that these turnstiles were still situated in certain places inside the castle and even though there were only a few left of them now, the Ravenclaw still didn't like that they had to pay in order to utilize the facilities of the school. She was saving up for a major something too. But what could she do? She wanted to look up some books, plus she was doing homework with a certain Slytherin.
So, unwillingly, she inserted eight sickles into the hole.
Merlin, this was ridiculous.

Having to pay for the library had broken Charlies' heart a little. She had planned on spending so much time here and now... well, maybe she'd just spend a little less on peoples Christmas presents, instead. She sighed as she approached the turnstiles, remembering what Cat had said about having to pay for everywhere, including the Common Room last year.
This was a little improvement. Charlie had to admit that she would have probably owed a lot of people money, or else had nowhere to sleep.

Yep, Sky had already heard about the fee to enter the library. Through complaining housemates, naturally. Frankly, she thought they should just be glad that weren't having to pay to get into their common room again (she totally wouldn't put it past Bunz). But she didn't dare say this to her classmates though.
Approaching the familiar turnstile, she stuffed a couple of galleons into the slot and entered the library, knowing now that the galleons would prevent her from having to pay for awhile.

What in the holy hell was this... Jacques approached the metal bars and read the notice before sighing. Just what he needed, to spend his allowance on something that should've been free. Soon they'd have these at the bathroom stalls so no one could whiz without paying the price- then maybe have you pay if you happen to wet yourself. The library should've been free.
Humans and injustice. He pulled his coin purse from his bag. Hand in hand. He shook his head as he paid and walked through the bars heading toward his favourite section.
