Hufflepuff Hufflepuff House Table

The Hufflepuffs sit at a long stretch of dusty table. Hopefully you remembered to bring your assigned spork, Solo cup, and Dixie plate to mealtime with you. It was once said by some that the Hogwarts House Elves are the best in the world. It is up to your stomach to agree... especially this term, when most meals seem to consist of the same variation on potatoes, something lumpy that could pass for meat, and bowl upon bowlful of porridge.

Regardless of the meal being served, there is always porridge. Don't forget to fill up on water too. At least the pitchers holding it are clean.

"Thank you, by the way," he hurried to say with a grateful smile as he placed the coins inside the turnstile to join him. "I'm Forrest Charlton." Handshaking? He didn't even remember that and paused only to wait for Tobias to keep walking as he zipped his bag back. He would eat the dinner with him, right? Would it be too inconfident to ask whether he was interrupting his plans or anything?
"No problem," Tobias smiled, and stood by until Forrest had come through, at which point he started walking again, gently veering towards the Hufflepuff table with his fellow first year. And then...

Oh.

After paying to get in, Tobias was always hopeful that there would be a change in the Great Hall. You know... the table a bit cleaner, the food a bit more palatable. But no. Same as usual. "You'd think, given that we're paying, the we'd at least get some awesome food. My grandfather said the food was awesome." Tobias felt quite betrayed. He stopped at a place at the dusty table and looked slightly, but obviously, grossed out like always in here, and looked to Forrest to see if he was happy (content? not completely against?) sitting here too.

Dust.

The only thing Forrest saw was... dust.

Had he really paid for this? Every time, it was the same. Every time, he would get his hopes up for a change. Even a less thick layer of dust would do, but... he'd like to know just WHERE their money went to. He snorted as he walked next to Tobias and made a face looking at the table.

"You'd think the professors'd have helped, at least. Isn't it like, just a swish of wand for them? They could've--" He struggled between the thought that it wasn't quite their duty to clean around, and that they were responsible for students' health. He puffed his cheeks, not finishing his sentence.

"What kind of a treatment do they get?" Was their table as dusty, or did they get it cleaned?

Forrest raised a very good point. Was it really so hard for the professors to help them out? As a first year, Tobias kind of felt even more at a loss. First they didn't even MENTION it before they showed up, and now they were expected to deal with it. He had no idea if there were cleaning products in the castle, you know, if the mood ever struck him to deal with stuff himself.

"It's not even like we know cleaning spells or anything," he grumbled, running his finger along a section of table and examining the dust when he took it away. The difference between the colour of the table with and without dust was striking.

Looking up to the staff table, Tobias frowned thoughtfully. He considered running up there and checking, but he was more bothered about eating right now. And if he went up there, chances are a member of staff would walk in and demand to know why he was up at the empty staff table. "I dunno, but they seem to be sparing as many expenses possible... with us at least."

But wait... "Aren't there supposed to be house elves that work here though? And clean and stuff?" he mused, looking at Forrest. "I mean... it's almost like the school needs more money, what with having to pay and getting really bad food, but I was led to believe that house elves didn't get paid."

It wasn't something he agreed with, but apparently that was the norm.

The bizarreness of the situation seemed to hit Tobias right then. "I'm not sure how much of this my family is going to believe when I ask them for more money."

The bizarreness of the situation seemed to hit Tobias right then. "I'm not sure how much of this my family is going to believe when I ask them for more money."
Forrest remembered his first night at the Hufflepuff Common Room, and how he was forced to try it. He shuddered at the thought, and he shuddered at the amount of dust Tobias' finger collected. He eyed the table again as his stomach made its emptiness known one more time with an angry growl.

"What I heard from older students is that, they're all gone... there's only one elf left." He frowned, trying to ignore his stomach and remember more. And didn't Kahlan say something along those lines? "Maybe they were treated badly too and they decided to leave." He shrugged. He didn't know much about their loyalty and how stuff worked for them.

And he sat. Because he was hungry, and he didn't know where the kitchen was or whether he was allowed to enter. He either ate now, or spend the night awake and hungry.

"I can--share my money with you," he offered, avoiding his eyes. He was horrible at consoling people and whatnot, and he didn't even know whether it'd sound offensive to the boy. He meant it innocently though... he'd get that from his voice?

"I'm a muggleborn, so my father gave me money in case I needed to buy something additional." That was his explanation, in case Tobias wondered.

"I'm a muggleborn, so my father gave me money in case I needed to buy something additional." That was his explanation, in case Tobias wondered.
"I-... what?" One elf left? Really? Tobias frowned slightly at that piece of information. He wondered if they HAD walked out, and if it HAD been because of bad treatment. Maybe they elves had wanted to be paid and were being refused? It was obvious that the school had no money... maybe they HAD been paying the elves and no longer could. "Well... I hope the last one is being treated okay and isn't under, you know, pressure." A big castle for one elf? From the state of the place, it certainly didn't seem like it... but you never really knew what went on in the places you couldn't see.

Tobias sat at the same time as Forrest, wrinkling his nose at the thought of the dust that he knew now covered his nose. But it was no problem, not really... he was starting to get used to it, and after all, it was only dust.

"Hmm?" he was brought back from his thoughts by the boy's suggestion. "Oh, no don't worry about it. But thank you," Tobias smiled sincerely. "I mean... I'll probably get money off of them. It's probably a case of getting our Head of House to write a note or something. I should be fine until then. Hopefully." Hmm... hopefully indeed. Tobias might even have to do a mini budget for a while. He glanced sideways at the boy as he reached across the table for the food and started assembling a bland meal. "I'll, err... keep it in mind though."

You know... just in case. Tobias wasn't above asking for help.

"So... you're a muggleborn then?" he moved the conversation along somewhat. Even just in conversation, figuratively staying in one place was just as difficult as it was in a literal sense. "This summer the first time you've heard of Hogwarts then?" Tobias asked curiously.

Forrest shrugged to indicate he didn't have an idea. "Where can he clean, anyway? The castle's too big for an army of elves." The pessimist first year doubted he was ever under pressure to clean all the castle. He probably just cleaned the Headmistress' and maaaaybe professors' offices, and that was it. The children could get SICK in dust instead.

Forrest surveyed the table as if he didn't know it by heart, and reached for some potato, and then for some of potato again, because that seemed to be the only thing that was eatable. He then eyed it too, breaking his examination only to glance at Tobias to show he was listening. Well, then... there was nothing else to say about money issue. He was relieved to see the sincere smile, though. So Tobias didn't take offence. Good to know.

Back to examining the potatoes for any hint of ewww.

He nodded as he grabbed his fork. It passed his examination, obviously, and he was going to eat it.

"I mean, weird things' been happening 'round me for a while and..." He frowned a little, remembering how every relative tried to avoid him. As if he was contagious. He had been a small kid then, but he FELT certain things and the way they looked. No need to mention his ignorant muggle relatives now.

"We were surprised at first, my father didn't even believe it." He laughed. "But I'm the only wizard in the family, y'know, so we had to see, and we came to London. Turns out, there really exist wizards." He grinned somewhat sheepishly, then he took a spoonful of potato.

"'Ow 'bout you?" He'd remembered to cover his full mouth with his hand, luckily.

Tobias, too, loaded up his plate with oh so appetising gunk on the table. Sure, it was potatoes, but it really make Tobias miss his mothers home cooking. Even the home cooking that consisted of chucking something in the oven for 20 minutes. Sigh. Even so, he piled a lot onto his plate; he was paying for this after all.

Nodding as Forrest told him his kind of condensed history, Tobias tucked in to his food. He had always eaten relatively quickly, either because he had a tendency to speed through doing a lot of stuff as a way of expending his oodles of energy or just that he had kind of used all his 'fuel' and was filling up quickly. Still, he tried to remember his manners, but nobody was here anymore to tell him to 'get his elbows off the table' or 'bring your food to your mouth, don't lean into it'. They were stupid rules anyway.

"Well," he responded, after Forrest had finished. "I actually didn't know about Hogwarts or magic or anything either. But my family did." Tobias took a gulp of water here to wash down what he'd eaten so far and give himself more room for food. "My family has been magical for a while, mostly, but we're not purebloods." Nope. A lot of mixed blood marriages gave his ancestors a degree of variety. "My parents were both squibs, so they thought I'd be all muggle. Nobody expected me to get in to Hogwarts, so it just wasn't mentioned in case I was a muggle or a squib or whatever I'd have been, and they didn't want to tell me what I was missing. Turns out I had been showing magic, but they thought it was me being... me." At that last part, Tobias gave a mischevious little smile. "Well some of it still was me. But, you know, magic just seems to help you get into trouble."

Oops, that was a bit too much information. Forrest was probably not interested in that stuff. "So all this stuff is kind of new to me too... Did you ever have a lot of problems at school too or...?"

Maybe Tobias really was just a bit... overenthusiastic about everything. But it couldn't be helped.

Maybe Tobias really was just a bit... overenthusiastic about everything. But it couldn't be helped.
Forrest tried his best to imagine how it was to be in a magical family and not know it. He'd be very annoyed with his parents, for one, bu the way Tobias told it surprised him. He was so calm about it... maybe it was how he was taught: don't talk about family arguments with outsiders. Because that was exactly how Forrest's father always cautioned him: They don't need to know about our arguments, Forrest. So keep your mouth shut.

He felt better, though, much better. First Kahlan had admitted she hadn't known much about Hogwarts, and now Tobias was telling he didn't even know. So it wasn't a sin not to have an idea about how things worked. He'd learn along with his peers the ways of wizards. He ate as he listened, occasionally glancing over him to show he was listening to it all. He grinned along when he gave a mischievous smile. There was only one thing he didn't get.

"What's a squib?" It wasn't bad to ask that, was it?

Naaah. 'Twas probably cool. At least Tobias knew Forrest was a complete foreigner to this world.

"Well," he started, and stopped to collect his mind. Where and how to begin? "I've attended public school for only a year, and my magic was at its most active then, if that's the correct way of... defining it." He frowned a little as he was confused, but went on after a short while. "My parents were pretty worried and they decided to send me to a private school. I guess they explained the, uh, problem to the teachers as well, because they were kinder to me than to other students." Or he wanted to see it that way. In any case... "I had less problems, unless someone bullied me or something." He grinned again as he remembered a memory. He had felt awful then, but he laughed at it now. "Once, a boy's homework caught on fire just like that! He'd copied the answers from me against my will and... 'twas cool. I mean, they put the fire out easily, that's why it was cool." Tobias didn't think he was a freak, did he?

"How about you?" he returned the question as he drank some water.

It's like the opposite of a muggleborn, the way I hear it," Tobias explained, moving the rest of the food around his plate before he resumed eating it. He probably should have realised that not everybody learned new terminology at the same time as him, just like he didn't know what everyone else knew. "My parents were squibs, so they didn't know if I would have any magic in me or not, which is why nobody told me about magic. My grandparents were all magical though. My grandfather considered telling me about magic and wizards and stuff after I got my letter, but he thought it would be better to learn at school."

It was understandable enough. Tobias never resented anyone in his family about it... he could see where they were coming from. And after all, what difference would it have made if he had known?

He took that moment to eat some more food, washing it down every now and then. Tobias was starting feel full, however. The food may be bland, but it filled it's primary purpose: satiating their appetites and re-energising them.

This Forrest kid sounded interesting so far. And he'd also gone private with schooling and stuff, which was something Tobias could really relate to. Even beyond that, a few minor things struck him as similar. This was awesome!

"Well... I was homeschooled 'til I was eight, but my family figured I should make friends my age, so then my grandfather paid for me to go to this fancy school in the town where I live. So I got a private education and specialised teachers for certain kids who could handle me, but I still lived at home," he explained, probably in too much detail than was necessary. "Then I started being a bit more of a handful than before. I'd get into little bits of trouble here and there. My family thought it was all to do with my ADHD, but really the magic just helped me out a bit. You know... pranks and stuff. And also running away when I was going to get caught. Like, I'd run impossibly fast and end up somewhere on the other side of the school so nobody could blame me. And, you know... it helped with standing up to bullies." Everyone thought he was hyperactive and impulsive... and he was. But Tobias was mainly confident that he'd be able to get away with whatever he was doing. ADHD and magic was probably not the best mix.

He grinned as he remembered his school days fondly, before bringing himself back to the conversation. "Nothing too big... just loads of little things that I thought were normal or whatever. My teachers used to let me get away with stuff, though, because of the behavioural thing I guess. That's why my grandfather was keen for me to come here." He didn't think there would be such leeway here, and Tobias was inclined to agree.

"I never set anything on fire though," Tobias smiled, trying to let the other boy know without actually saying anything that he was teasing but only in a friendly way. "That does sound cool." The fire. Not putting it out.

"I never set anything on fire though," Tobias smiled, trying to let the other boy know without actually saying anything that he was teasing but only in a friendly way. "That does sound cool." The fire. Not putting it out.

Forrest nodded as his mouth was full again. So Tobias' parents lived like muggles, if he got it correct. When he put it, Forrest figured it was better for it to surprise, but then again, he'd have liked to know before going all the torture inside the family.

Mweh. What was done was done, no need to discuss it further. He swallowed at last.

"No one told me too," he said absent-mindedly. Well, obviously no one had told him. It was just Forrest's way of trying to make Tobias feel better, if he was down a bit. Forrest couldn't tell.

Forrest listened to him carefully, ceasing to eat at times. So not only he needed a special teaching to handle his magic. Up until now, it had been a secret burden on his heart, but it was relieving to hear that. Wait... was it okay for him to be happy to hear both of them needed 'special' education? He couldn't decide, and dropped the matter at last. He'd ask his mother later about it, in a bloody letter which was so artificial... it was nothing like a telephone, but he had to do with it.

He gasped at the running part, because--was Tobias aware how "Cool!" it was? "The fanciest thing I did was setting a paper on fire, but running is better," he commented, eyes all open in wonder. Maybe that was because he never did anything but things found him, so that he never had to run but had to defend. Shrug. In either case, magic helped them to stand against bullies and that made him like the boy even more. Their pasts were somewhat similar. He'd decided that it was good to feel relieved for having gone through similar things. That proved he wasn't a freak like his brother put it.

"Magic proves to be useful, after all." He grinned and drank some water. His plate was empty now, and he eyed his to see whether he was finished too.

Oh.
He blushed and grinned afterwards, because even though he'd shaken out of fear for a long time then, it sounded cool now.

Checking his watch, he sighed. "I guess we should return to common room." It was almost first years' curfew.

Tobias couldn't decide on what really was better... running or fire. He supposed that being able to set things on fire was quite cool, but when it was accidental magic, then maybe it could be cool for a while and then slightly dangerous. Whereas with running it really was awesome to run and suddenly find out you were a lot further than most people could get, but what if you found yourself somewhere you didn't recognise.

But he was thinking about negative aspects of things, and Tobias had always tried his best NOT to look at the cons. Of anything. It was why he was always so happy, even if it was a slightly unhealthy way to look at it. Either way, magic was cool. And he didn't focus on the fact that they were expected to learn to control their accidental magic (somehow), but instead that they would learn knew magic. Tobias could learn fire, that seemed like something to be learnt, and there were probably ways of learning how to run super quickly using magic or whatever that Forrest would enjoy. Magic seemed win win win win win. Something good for everyone.

"I'd go as far as saying magic is downright awesome," Tobias grinned. He still wasn't over the fact that it was real. Magic was real.

Ah yeah... common room. Tobias didn't have a watch or a very good grasp of time, so it was good that Forrest pointed that out. "Good point, I still have a bunch of homework to do as well," Tobias agreed, finishing up his own water and glancing up at the ceiling to check the weather out of a pure habit he'd developed. Once he'd done that he stood, making sure he wasn't about to fall over his robes or look stupid some other way, and led the way out of the hall, reaching into his pocket to find a knut to have ready for the turnstiles.

quill Divination Homework One- Entry One
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Jory was still yawning when he made it to the Hufflepuff table. In his hands he had his Divination textbook, a quill and a bottle of ink. Since it were only three things he needed, he figured he'd leave his book bag behind. Jory needed to calm his rumbling stomach so he served himself some porridge. That always seemed to be there. Next, came a few scoops of ice cream. Can't have meals without ice cream, you know.

Now that breakfast was behind him, Jory now grabbed the empty cup he had brought and poured some tea into his solo cup that had been assigned to him 3/4 of the way. He tried to clear his mind, blocking out everything around him. It was a good thing the Hall wasn't occupied by many persons right then. Jory picked up the cup with his left hand and drank. Was there anything particular that kept bothering him? Nope. This was going to be another general reading.

The Puffer gave his nearly empty cup three swirls after which he emptied it onto the the Dixie plate in front of him. He waited three breaths before setting the cup on the right side again. Time to look for symbols!

Jory began from the twelve o clock angle. For the rim portion, he noticed a walking stick. The Middle there was a vase and at the base there was a snake. Now that he had the symbols, he began to scribble out his journal entry:

SPOILER!!: First Entry
Breakfast:
Walking Stick:A walking stick suggests that you'll be looking for help with money and are likely to receive it. This is very true. Due to all the turnstile appearing around the Castle, I am low on coins. I have to owl my parents soon as I left some at home. I was not expecting to pay tons of money to enter various rooms this year.
Vase:A vase often tells of a friend who will ask you for advice or consolation. I don't know what to make of this. Who could possibly need advice or consolation from me? I'm no good with words. But when the time comes, I'll do my best to help.
Snake:A snake signifies a strong relationship. I've got lots of relation ships. Does this mean one with my mom or dad? Friend? Sister?! I would rather it be my sister as we've been going through a rocky patch for the past few months.

Jory put down his quill. He liked the meanings for these symbols. Well, now he was done with one entry. Just two more to go.

Kace was barley conscious. It was quite early for him to be up. He was rubbing his eyes trying to stay awake. He was not a morning person. He used to like to sleep till 8am. He wanted to be here early to focus on his homework. He wanted to have no distractions. He brought his textbook, quill, ink and paper to write down his readings. He needed to trace it on the paper he had with him. Good thing he brought a couple sheets of parchment. He traced the rim of his cup onto the parchment. Alright so he need to fill his cup 3/4 the way. He filled it up with tea since he wasn't much of a coffee fan.

He let is stay in the cup for two minutes following his steps. He cleared his mind. It was peaceful in here. He was not focusing on anything.....then two minutes flew by.

He decided he should drink his tea. Once he drank it with his left hand, he left some fluid at the bottom. Which was required. Then he began to stir it. He gave it good three swirls and then he was finished with that. Then he got his wand out and said the spell "Concavus!"

Then he flipped it over to where he traced it before. He did not find anything bothering him at this time of the morning. It was going to be an easy reading like it was in class. He got out his book to look at the symbols! At the Rim he noticed a Whale?...He wondered what that could mean. Then at the Middle he noticed what looked like a dog, At the final symbol at the Base he noticed a owl. He hoped he was into trouble. He scribbled the symbols down on his parchment and thought about them.

SPOILER!!: First Journal Entry

BreakFast:

Rim: A Whale - guarantees you achievement in a big project

Middle: Dog- this means i have a faithful friend around.

Base: Owl- signals the arrival of news that may be sad but will leave you wiser.

When i did all the readings this morning, they all seemed relevant. I have an arthimacy project to work on and potions one i should be working on so the project reading was no suprise. So i hope to achieve it and it looks like i will. For the dog symbol, I met a few people around and especially Belle's friends. I guess i had a gut feeling that the people i met would be faithful. The last symbol Uh oh..i hope i do not get some devastating news. But i guess some people get bad news but at least i will be wiser from it. I just hope it doesn't deal with my family! I am kind of nervous about it.

After he finished his last symbol, he was keen on eating. He got the cereal and milk towards him and enjoyed his heart breakfast.

Having paid at the turnstiles, Alec dragged his feet all the way over towards the Hufflepuff table, letting out another wide yawn as he did so. He sat down and placed his bag down on the side before... sitting there. Just sitting there staring into space.

Yeah... he really regretting staying up late.

Blinking a couple of times, the boy zoned back in to his surroundings before reaching into his bag and taking out his things. A particular piece of parchment with a circle around it was placed down on the table and the empty cup was placed on top of it. There. Now he just needed... some tea! He took out his flask and poured in some hot water until it filled up 3/4 of the cup. He then opened the box where he kept some tea leaves and added in a teaspoon of that.

... Now... wait, right? And meditate.

Alec sat there and closed his eyes, trying to force his mind to think about nothing at all. Which... was actually proving to be very easy considering how sleepy he still was. And speaking of, he could just... rest his head, yeah? Just... for... two minutes...

... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...

...

The boy jerked awake suddenly and looked around, slightly confused. The side of his face felt sightly... weird and he was sure that there was now going to be a red mark on there. He rubbed his cheek and looked down at his cup of tea. ... Yeah.. okay... that looked ready. He lifted the tea up with his left hand and started drinking it, his mind thinking about... well... nothing in particular. Because he was still sleepy. And thoughts could be heavy at times like this, yeah?

Once most of the tea had been drunk, Alec held the teacup in his hand and gave the tea three good swirls. Swirl... swirl... swirl... and dump! Gently. Because that was important. After waiting three breaths, he turned the cup back over and mentally divided the cup into three sections. Okay. Done. Now... time to look for some shapes, yeah?

The Hufflepuff leant a little closer and narrowed his eyes just a bit. Shapes... symbols... please show yourself! Squint... squint... squint at a particular blob... Except, it wasn't a blob. It was more circular in shape and seemed to have... was that a handle? Was that a spout? Should he be doing this when he was half asleep?

... No.

But there was a spout thing there and a handle too. Which meant a kettle, yeah? Reaching over towards his textbook, he flipped it open to the right section. There. Now a kettle... meant... a minor hindrance or delay? But in what?! What was he trying to achieve that he'd get delayed?! ... Unless... this was talking about these Divination readings? ... Meh.

... Moving on... the next symbol was far easier to spot. A triangle. Pointing down. Near the middle of the cup which meant that whatever this was, it would happen in the coming two weeks? And it meant... the increase of misfortune of a bad omen? What bad omen?! Tea leaf reading, why are you so confusing?

And the last one was a lot harder to spot. There was a large blob somewhere near the base of the cup. A large blob that had a trickle of something -- tea? -- near it. Something... that looked like... it could be a part of its tail? Two things popped into the Hufflepuff's mind: a mouse and a monkey. But which one? Because according to the textbook, they each had different meanings and he couldn't do both...

...

MONKEY. Chosen. Okay.

Scribble... scribble... scribble...

Text Cut: Journal!
Quote:
Rim - Kettle
⊲ A kettle appearing in your cup means that you can expect a minor hindrance or delay.

Middle - Triangle pointing down
⊲ A triangle with the point down will decrease the power of a symbol nearby or increase the misfortune of a bad omen.

Base - Monkey
⊲ A monkey can be warning you to stop and think before you do something stupid.

I really don't understand. The kettle near the rim of the cup has to be linked to something right now, yeah? But what if I don't know what I'm trying to accomplish? What does that symbol mean then? Unless it's for a coming task in which case, that doesn't really sound great.

Then came the triangle which suggested two things, according to the textbook. I don't know which ones it's meant to mean but neither one of the options suggests something great. Maybe it means that the delay will get worse? I might end up being delayed for longer than I thought.

Then there's the monkey! The monkey was found near the base of the cup so in the future, I'll have to stop and think otherwise I'll end up doing something stupid. I don't like the sound of that. I mean, I usually stop and think about things, sometimes too much. So if I have to be warned to stop and think, does that mean I'll be really angry? So angry that I'll want to do something stupid?

This was done in the morning so maybe that affected my readings? And I wasn't thinking of anything in particular so maybe that explains the randomness too.

... Now... since that was done... could he go and get some ice cream and then take a nap? Otherwise he was going to fall asleep here.

After glancing around the Great Hall, Asher made his way over to the Hufflepuff table. He was sick with worry over not having done any of his homework and the only thing he wanted to do was eat his mums soup. "I guess this will do" he said as he grabbed a bite of the sad looking selection on the table. Appearing rather green and not feeling so well, he decided to put his head on the table and take a nap. "Maybe a little sleep will make things better" he whispered as he drifted off.

Kace made his way to the house table. He was starving! He needed some grub to fill up the gnawing hunger in his stomach. When he saw some steak his mouth watered and it all went down hill from there. He piled on his plate and took a HUGE mouthful. "Aaahhh that is better." he thought to himself. Now his stomach liked him again.

He was even observing the area around him. Then in the corner of his eye he saw deserts. He took some cookies and cakes and ate those too. He was quite hungry from playing quidditch all the time too. So no wonder he needed to eat a lot. As he was eating he saw someone looking at him wanting to come over to the table.

Why was it always porridge? She was thankful that some great soul had not made it the only course. Bless them. She wasn't really hungry, grabbing an apple, she looked around. That guy from the quidditch stands? He was eating like he hadn't for several years. She hid a smile under and watched him. But then, he turned. Aw. Smile, smile, Amara. Amara waved to Kace and signaled whether she could come over.

Ella had an internal debate about where to sit for all of two seconds before she decided on the Hufflepuff table. It would make her less nervous to be there and besides, Theo had some Hufflepuff friends didn't he? Besides her, of course. She wanted to believe that him and Alec would be friends now too because of the little display of bro-ism on the pitch. Yup, she totally saw that. Ella approved!

Flopping down, she offered the Slytherin a smile and scanned the table. "What are you gonna have?" Truth be told, Ella missed the old spread they used to have at Hogwarts. The food just wasn't as appetizing looking as it used to be. While she tried to make up her mind, she poured herself some pumpkin juice and took a sip. At least that still tasted lovely.

Theo followed Ella into the Great Hall and let her lead the way as to which table they were gonna sit at. He hoped that she would be nice and head for HIS table, but nope, Hufflepuff it was. Good job there wasn't TOO many people in here, Theo wouldn't want people to see him at that table... He didn't' make any fuss over it anyhow, and sat himself down beside her.

He grabbed two slices of bread straight away, and plopped them onto his plate. "I fancy a sandwich." He said simply, but was a little too focussed on the food in front of him to pay much attention. Butter! There it was. Theo grabbed a knife to butter his bread, and then he finally looked over at his friend with a smile. "So, how is it being a captain?" Cos he really wanted to know. Theo would love to be captain one day himself.

A sandwich, right. That wasn't a bad idea. Ella eyed the table for a moment or two, debating on what kind to make, before spotting the ice cream. Yeah, ice cream trumped sandwiches every single time. The blonde scooped herself some and beamed, happily taking a bite. No comments about ice cream rehab today, okay?

Oh, questions. Ella swallowed the mouthful of ice cream she was working on and smiled a little. "It's really great, actually." Because she got to get to know lots of awesome people and try and help them get better at Quidditching which was cool. "It's also a lot of pressure but...I hope I'm doing an okay job." Nodnod. "You've been playing well, by the way. I caught your match and all." No big deal or anything. "You seem even faster than last term." Was that possible?

Theo stifled a snort when she went straight for the ice cream. Same old Ella, eh? Theo still wasn't a fan of her ice cream fascination, and he didn't get it really. "Your brain is gonna freeze forever one day." How did she even cope? Ice cream was great but not too much. Once Theo had finished buttering his sandwich, he stroked his imaginary beard and popped a few tomatoes on it. Healthy, see?

"Oh, cool, it looks like fun." But he could see where the pressure thing comes from. He didn't know about the other teams, but Dylan definitely put in a lot of hard work from what he could see. "You're doing a great job, can't wait till we play against you." Because Quidditch was really fun at the moment. More so than usual.

Theo couldn't help but grin at this. "You saw? Oh yeah... five goals." Yeah just sayin'.

Ella fought a smile and turned to Theo, a mock!somber expression on her face. "Well then you should really enjoy the time you have left with me." Besides, if her brain ever did freeze, wouldn't it be like perfectly preserved or something? They could just save it and study how one brain could cope with some many thoughts. SEE? She was actually helping the medical community by eating so much ice cream.

"It can be," She said before eating another spoonful of the stuff. Yum. Yum. Yummmm. She paused her nomming at what he said next, slightly surprised. "You think so?" Mini!beam. That actually meant a lot not that she'd admit it or anything. Nope. "Thanks. It'll be a good match, I think." When they played each other, that is.

The sixteen year old couldn't help but smile at Theo. He hadn't changed much either, it seemed. "Course I saw. I had to scope out the competition." GRIN. "Congrats. Five goals is really impressive." Really, it was.

Ha. Ha. Ha. Theo laughed. "You're crazy." He grabbed a spoon and nabbed a scoop of her ice cream. It was good at first but his eyes soon squeezed together because the brain freeze was there. He really was not used to ice cream other than the ones on a cone. They were much easier to eat. Back to his sandwich, Theo added some chicken. He wasn't sure what he was creating here...

"I do think so." He nodded again. "It seems really hard, and you haven't quit yet, so you must be doing good." Theo beamed. He was proud of Ella, actually. That was a weird feeling for him to feel since he only ever felt proud of himself when he deserved it. "Mmhm. We'll go easy on you." Theo winked. No. No, they wouldn't.

"It was pretty great." Especially since the weather conditions were so awful. Theo added a few more toppings to his sandwich then placed the other slice of bread on top. He took a bite, and once he had swallowed, he wanted to know more stuff. "So, what's new?"
