One minute before ten, Althea was at the gargoyles, ready to meet with the Headmistress as planned. She had something to discuss with the woman, and an offer to make, one that she'd thought about quite a bit and planned on from when she'd very first heard of the incident the previous term.

She absently nodded a greeting at the gargoyles as she stopped in front of them. "Please inform the Headmistress that I'm here." They knew who she was it hadn't been so long ago that she was working at Hogwarts herself after all.

One minute after Althea arrived at the stone gargoyles, at precisely 10:00am, Anastasia appeared at the bottom of her office.

"Ms. Schirmer," she addressed the blonde with a head-to-toe eye flick/judgy look. She approved of the look, though Merlin knew it wasn't winter yet so why so much red? Then again, could Annie criticize? She was wearing denim. But she was also going out to the greenhouses later, so....

"Come up, please." The redhead took a step back and parted the stone gargoyles again, revealing the spiral staircase that led to the Headmistress chambers.

She DID so approve of people who were prompt and not Tate.

"Professor, please." Althea corrected with a smile. "Or just Althea is fine." She headed up the staircase, her heels clip-clipping on the stone as she went.

This was embarrassing. Totally embarrassing.

Why did I say yes? Why can't he use the mail like normal people? Why can't he do this himself and in person? Why me? Why?

Rawdon shifted his weight from his left foot to his right and hoped that no one would notice that he was carrying a rather large pink gift bag.

Time to talk to the statue.

Rather nervous, he cleared his throat. "Please tell, erm, Headmistress Truebridge that, erm, Rawdon Vindictus is here to see her if she's available."

He stepped away from the stone gargoyles and sat down on one of the benches located in the waiting area.

"So. You're Rawdon Vindictus." The light voice of the redheaded headmistress preceded her appearance from behind the stone gargoyles. She was smiling, a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, but smiling nonetheless.

She noted the bright pink bag but didn't say much else. Instead, Annie extended a hand toward the boy for him to shake. This was what Max must have looked like in his younger years...

Aaaand he made it.

Botros had clean pants and shirt now but his sweating and panting face said it all about how stressed out and uncomfortable he was. Approaching the stone gargoyles, he leaned on his cane to catch his breath before using it to knock on those gargoyles.

CLANK CLANK.

Anastasia happened to be outside her stone gargoyles already, as it were. She was watering some plants nearby with her wand, and pruning and trimming dead leaves as she went Just a bit of light gardening.

She heard the Runes professor approach but didn't get a chance to stop him before he attempted his dangerous balancing/knocking act with the cane. "Professor Botros!" the redhead called out, lest he try knocking again. She hurried over to his side. "Whatever's the matter?"

Merlin, was he in a state! Annie put a calm hand on the professor's shoulder and gave him a searching look. Please don't fall over, she thought, summoning a glass of water for him as well. "Here, drink this," the redhead commanded, holding out the glass. She wasn't taking no for an answer.

Once he seemed all right, she would invite him into her office.

His cane was still suspended in midair about to clank again when the woman's voice reached his hearing aid ear, thank Merlin! The cane thudded down on the floor under his weight. The matter? Aaaah. He passed a hand on his sweaty forehead, down to rub his eyes, then his nose.. then.. no, just those.

He leaned forward on his cane again with both hands, wincing just a bit, and watched the glass of water get closer. "Thank you." He didn't want water, really. He wanted his glass box a seat. But he wasn't sure he'd be able to stand up if let his bones relax. So, water it is.

"There's been an accident." His hand was shaking from both anger and tiredness. "In my office. My safe container exploded." He gulped down the water and continued to try catching his breath. "It's a glass box. I need to investigate more. It's not just any glass box." Did he sound disoriented? Oh well, she needed to get the seriousness of this accident! He wanted to use his wand and let the stupid glass of water disappear but he'd toppled over the headmistress, so he just gave it back to her and looked into her face. "I never mess up my protective rune charms." Thirty bloody years practicing runic magic!

... why weren't they moving into somewhere where he could sit?

Taryn's heart was beating so loudly in her ears that she couldn't even hear herself thinking. She was definitely not cut out for this sort of thing and she just couldn't wait to be safe on the Hogwarts Express heading the opposite direction of Hogwarts and Truebridge.

When they reached the gargoyle entrance to the Headmistress's office, she paused and gathered her breath for just a moment. NOW it was her turn. She had to figure out how to get inside, which meant, she had to guess the password. She glanced at Milton and adjusted the cow in her arms. There were only two things she knew about Truebridge, one: she was SCARY when provoked; two: she had impeccable fashion sense. She'd never ever seen her looking any less than fabulous, therefore, her password HAD to be something fabulous too, right? It only seemed right.

She began thinking out loud, first fabulous places, like PARIS (even if she still hated it) then she quickly switched gears and blurted out anything to do with fashion. Evolette McKenna. Ellsberry. All sorts of models and designers and handsome pretty men (including Quidditch players). She ran through the Wizards and started on Muggles. This was beginning to take too long, she was hoping that they didn't get caught. (For the record, she was SO blaming Milton.) By the time she'd named all of the people she could think of, she was getting rather worried. Finally, "Valentino!" Slightly frustrated Taryn was happily surprised to find she'd FINALLY picked the right name. "Come on, let's get this over with FAST." She whisper!breathed to Milton, rather pleased with herself and took off to the office.

Once they reached the gargoyles, Milton let out a breath of relief. They had made it all the way up here without getting caught. Because sneaking around two large cattle was not exactly easy to hide. And Milton didn't have a plan B.

"You can do this," he whispered encouragingly as Taryn tried to figure out the password to the Headmistress's office. While she did that, Milton made sure the cattle were still... well, immobilized. And they were, thankfully. He also glanced around the dark corridor the rest of the time to make sure there weren't any lurking prefects or professors on their evening stroll.

Merrrrrlin, Taryn was taking a long time. He could hear her naming off different designer names and what not. Sadly, he knew most of them. And then, finally! Taryn got it!

"Valentino? Really? I always thought she was more of a Dolce and Gabbanna kind of woman." Ah well.

Picking the large, but feather-weight cattle up again under his arm, Milton hurried after Taryn and followed her up the staircase to the Headmistress's office. Hopefully she wasn't in there. Sheesh, that'd be awkward.

Had she been in the headmistress' office all year? Sophia was positively sure that she had not,but as the saying went, better late than never. she clicked her way along side the headmistress all the way to the gargoyle..admiring the woman's outfit.

She had to give it to her where her fashion sense was concerned. All of that was on point.

"Oh right..the evaluation..I had almost forgotten about that. Very well." At least there would be chamomile tea...if she got upset that could always sooth her some.

"Don't worry," Annie said lightly as they reached the gargoyles. She leaned in and whispered her TOP SECRET, TOTALLY UNGUESSABLE password to the stone statue, and then leaned back up as it started moving away. "Most of the evaluations were all good! That's one nice thing about being evaluated by candidates: they all suck up to you."

She smiled and waved Sophia into the spiral staircase ahead of her. Hmm. Something smelled funny here. Must be whatever the house elves were cooking for lunch.

Sophia chuckled. She did have a point. Had she been running as a candidate though, the sucking up bit wouldn't happen. She was a fan of telling it like it is..respectfully of course. But now that she remembered, she was eager to hear what that young candidate had to say about her. Hopefully he was brave enough to be honest..she had no problem being critiqued once it was being done fairly.

"That's quite a shame..I was hoping for honest opinions on my teaching." She stepped into the spiral staircase and held on as it wound them up.
