Oh. My. Goodness.

Kanna had sprinted all the way to what she knew was a maze when she had spotted the tops of the corn stalks out on the pathways. She had been outside to get a little more of her favotire addiction-- fresh air. What a better way to kill a bit of time. How long dd she have before her next class? Kannalynne reached down to her jeans pocket and checked the time on the silver pocket watch her father had gifted her.

Wow. She had time. Challenge accepted.

Over the summer, Kana had gained a bit of height. She needed to buy almost completely new clothes, so her previously trademark hoodie was gone. Today, she wore a 3/4 length blue-grey tee shirt, with the Ravenclaw emblem on the front. In her fourth year, she had points deducted for being "out of uniform". Pfft. So, since then, she made sure that SOME part of her outfit had her house crest on it. Her favorite fingerless argyle gloves still fit, as did her sneakers, which were dirty from her jog. She didn't mind.

As the girl approached the entrance to the maze, she ran one hand through her bright, koolaid-red mane of hair. That dyed shock of color was her signature. In her younger years, it was long, but it was now cut so it was layered just above her shoulders. She sized up the maze, placing her hands on her hips.

She looked to the left. She looked to the right. Okay. Fair enough. Kanna stepped into the maze and had the choice to go left or go straight. Well. She knew that the systematic way to solve any maze was to keep turning left. Therefore, she went straight.

What in Merlin's beard...?

Had that thing appeared out of nowhere? Sophie didn't recall seeing it there before. Or was it there all along and she was just too blind to see?

Oh well, not important. That looked quite fun and interesting, so the girl decided to take a look.

As soon as she stepped in, she saw a girl walking staight ahead. She wondered whether to follow her or try some other way. The older girl had Ravenclaw colours on, so she was smart and probably knew better than Sophie. maybe it was best if she followed her?

WAITNO. Maybe it was better if she waited for someone else to go in with her? Because that unknown girl had already disappeared and Sophie was not fond of the idea of getting lost by herself in there.

She couldn't wait there forever, though! So she decided to go staight ahead as well. So she did. Slooowlyyyyy. Would it be safer if she pulled out her wand? ...Nahh, it was just a corn maze. She had nothing to worry about, right? Right.

Hopefully.

You know what was really cool? Corn mazes. They were super big and tall and confusing, a real challenge for super short people like Ella. That's why the blonde came running as soon as she'd heard that one was here...here at Hogwarts. BEAM! How cool! The fifteen year old had even packed some gummy worms in case she got lost forever it took her a long time to get out. Always prepared, Ella was. And so she entered at the begining and GRINNED, walking slowly ahead.

Looking back over her shoulder to catch the last glimpse of the outside world, Ella was unaware that someone was in front of her.

Ow.

Way to just plow someone down in the corn maze, Ella. SHEESH! "I am SO sorry." She said seriously, extending her hands to the person she'd knocked over. Meep. She was horrible at this kind of thing.

Careful... slowly... it was not like it was getting darker in there as she walked, of course not. It was still day time! But the thought she was getting herself in a MAZE all by herself was a bit scary. And there was no use in trying to find the older girl now... she was probably waaay ahead of her.

Gulp. What had she dooone?? what if there were some creatures in there ready to attack her? She had heard of some random magical beasts lurking around the Castle during her first term, and that wild plant from last year... whatever happened to it anyway???

GAAAAHHHH!!

Sophie flailed BIG TIME before landing face-first on the ground. She would have freaked out with her face full of earth if a familiar voice hadn't apologized. "ELLA, THANK MERLIN!!" She exclaimed grabbing her best friend's hand and jumping up. "I almost left this world for GOOD!"

Breeeeeathe, Sophie! Breeeeathe! Phew!

OHMERLIN'SBEARD! She'd killed her! SHE'D KILLED SOPHIE! Meeeeeeeep. It totally wasn't good karma to kill your best friend and just JDHLFHFLHK! WHY did these things happen to Ella? Seriously!

BLINK.

She was Alive?! THANK MERLIN! "Sophie, I'm sooo sorry!" She said seriously, watching as her friend stood up and...and she stood up so she wasn't broken or anything! This was GREAT news! And Nod. Nod. Nod. "I know you did...I saw and I thought I'd hurt you and..." FLAIL!

Once the blonde calmed down a bit she looked at her best friend sheepishly and lowered her voice a little. "Sophie? This place is a bit creepy, isn't it?" Creepy but AWESOME! ...But still creepy.

"Want to walk through together?"

Bliss had heard about the maze from her friends and had come to investigate.

WOOOW. It was big and different and cool and...had not been there before. Bliss looked around nervously, she didn't particularly want to go in on her own. Not that she scared. It would be more fun with a friend she expected. Andmaybeshewasalittlebitscared. This maze brought up memories of the maze that she'd faced during the finals last term and that had been...nerve-wracking for her. She didn't want to relive that again anytime soon. Uh-huh.

Bliss stood and waited. Someone would drag her in eventually.

Right?

RIGHT.

West of course was the PERFECT person to drag someone somewhere, so wasn't Blissy!puff lucky? Yes. Yes she was. Or she would be in jusssst a moment.

"Hi Bliss!" The third year sorta bounced over in his eagerness. "Mazes are the COOLEST." Today at least. Especially with the promise of food on the other side.

OH. A person! An actual living, breathing, human being. She could it the maze him, right? Or...he could drag her in.

Which ever was easier.

"Hey, West." Now what? Did she walk in and expect that he followed, or did she have to be dragged in? Would that be fun? "Mhmmm, they are! But I only think so if you're with someone," she agreed. She wasn't going to admit that she was a teeny weeny bit scared. He didn't need to know that.

"Wanna go in?" Yes? No?

Melody smiled as she entered the maze. This was going to be fun. She looked around there where two choices left and straight ahead. Awesome not too difficult yet. Melody looked down on the grown and looked at where the grass was parted. With that Melody decided she would start straight ahead.

After spitting out some dirt/grass from her mouth, Sophie smiled at Ella. "It's okay..." She told her fellow badger as she cleaned off her clothes. "Noo, you didn't hurt me! You scared me to death, but I'm not hurt." Hehe!

There. She was fully recovered from her almost-heart-attack. "I'm alright." Nod. Nod. It was just that this place was- "EXACTLY!" Sophie exclaimed when Ella said it was creepy. The girl cupped her mouth with one of her hands as she still grabbed Ella's arm with the other. "It is very creepy!" She said as low as her friend. "Do you think there are... creatures in here?" Probably not, because it was a cooorn maze. Maybe some crows and stuff, but nothing too dangerous... right?

"Yes!" The fourth year accepted Ella's offer to walk through it together without thinking twice. It wasn't like she would give the blonde another option anyway. "An older Ravenclaw girl that went that way." She pointed to where the girl had disappeared just a few minutes ago. "Maybe it'd be a good idea if we went behind her?" If anything ever happened... there would be an older person around. And a Ravenclaw, which meant smart.

Sounded like a good and safe plan!

So Sophie resumed walking... sloowly. And she didn't let go of Ella's arm either. Nope. What for?? She had to make sure her friend was right next to her.

"Of course I do, I heard there's food on the other side." So really, why wouldn't he? Also, adventure.

"Were you waiting for someone? I'm someone, you could go with me."

Of course he did, she thought and sighed. There would be no getting out of it now. If only she had stayed it bed today, she wouldn't be in this mini-dilemma. Then again...it couldn't be TOO bad could it? They were allowed to go in, so it wasn't like it was going to be dangerous. It might even do her some good. She didn't want to be scared of mazes forever and ever.

FOOD? She hadn't got the memo on that one. Bliss beamed. "Yeah. Okay!" She grabbed his hand/wrist/whatever and dragged HIM inside the maze.

There best be food on the other side of this death trap.

She'd eaten dirt? BLEGH! Ella felt really bad now. "Too soon for a Sophie worm comment?" She said quietly, a half-smile on her face. ...Giggle. "I really am sorry, though. I've just been a bit distracted lately." BLUSH. And Sophie knew why but they certainly didn't have to discuss it. Nope.

Ella's eyes went a bit wide when Soph got all excited and grabbed her arm. Merlin! She was a jumpy one today, huh? The blonde bit her lip and thought about her bestie's question for a moment before shaking her head. "I don't think so, I mean not anything dangerous." But she did stick her hand in her pocket and grab her wand, just in case. Constant vigilance and all that. "If you want we can leave a trail of gummy worms like in that fairy tale! So we can...find out way out in an emergency." Though she secretly hoped Soph declined because wasting gummy worms was just... well it was wrong! And besides, what if they got hungry? Meep!

"Okay good...causeIwassortascaredtodoitalone." No harm in admitting that, right? ...Right. Oh and people were already in the maze? Blink. "I...yeah, yeah we'll go that way too then." And at least if any monsters were in the maze they'd be able to get a heads up. Blink. That was a really mean thing to think, wasn't it? ...Frown.

Stuck to her best friend, Ella walked on slowly and bit her lip. This was kind of like an adventure, yeah? One that her and Sophie could enjoy and laugh about later? Yup. Seemed like it.

Onward...

So they weren't kidding! There was actually a maze!

COOOOOL!

Lex approached the maze, kneazle tucked safely in her arms and smiled widely. Just ahead she'd seen a few students going in and she heard there was food at the other end so naturally she and Felix had to check it out. The feline might not have been very keen on the reward at the end but he did like taking walks with her so this would be his reward and the food at the end would be hers.

She thought to shout to those who'd already gone in so she could have some company but decided against it. They were probably really far ahead by now anyway and Felix was pretty good company.

She stepped in and saw two paths. "Well Felix, which way do you think we should try first?" She watched him eye both paths before nudging his head towards the straight one. Good enough for her and so that's the way she headed!

So how come WEST was the one being dragged? That was not on. He switched grip and threaded their fingers together, speeding up so that HE was in front and leading the way.

Like a boss.

"There is a trick to mazes." Because West usually did just launch into conversation without preamble, and this was no exception. "Do you wanna be logical or just dive in and hope for the best?" Which was what they were currently doing since he was pulling on her and already at a quick march and heading deeper into the maze.

Mika made her way to the start of the corn maze and just looked around at first. A part of her just thought that a creeptastic thingy was going to jump out of the bushes and attack her. Just like the way Kaiden had jumped into the doorway of the treehouse and scared her.

Evil.

She didn't like being scared.

She wanted to find the food though - fall was like awesome right? Apple cider here we come!

She tugged at her shirt and decided it was time to enter right?

BLINK. Right, well apparently West didn't like being dragged because he switched over so that he was in control and he'd...threaded their fingers together? Whatever. They had FOOD to find, yo.

"There is?" She wasn't aware of that. Normally she just ran for her life through them or didn't go in them at all. "Well, it looks like we're just going with the flow at the moment, but being logical...sounds logical," Bliss said and then nodded toward a hedge that they were about to march into. She tugged at West and they narrowly dodged the hedge.

SEE. This place was dangerous!

"Yeah, you can't get lost if you just stick to one side, like put your hand on a wall and just follow that wall til you get to an exit. Just if you ever get lost, which you won't on account of you are with me." True facts.

"Have you been in a maze before?"

This boy was full of facts. "I didn't know that. Well, seen as you seem to know what you're doing. And we won't get lost. We could just...dive in and go wherever? Might be more fun?" She suggested and tugged on his hand to turn down a different path to the one that they had originally been going down. She was still slightly nervous that something terrible might come and eat her though. MELLOW.

"Um, yeah. Last term I went through the one for the Defense Against the Dark Arts Final." Nod nod. That hadn't been enough experience for her to know that she never ever, EVER wanted to go into a maze again.

Yet here she was.

Sophie chuckled at Ella's comment about worms. Well, she just had commented about it, huh? We see what you did there, Ella! "It's okay. It actually tastes like the last Bertie Bott bean I ate." Hehehehe!

Distracted lately. Right. never mind that for now, they were busy enough LOST in that maze already, even though they were probably far from being halfway out.

"Good. I hope there isn't anything that can... you know, hurt us." She ouwld say 'kill' or 'eat', but she decided to choose her words more wisely. Those wouldn't be good things to say at the moment. She didn't want to scare Ella - and herself - even more. "What if someone eats all of them???" The gummy bear trail idea wasn't the best one. They might end up with a hungry... create, or just a person, with them. If it was a person, then alright. But what if it wasn't?? "Just keep them, it's better." Yep. They could always... make each other float above the corns to see the exit, in the last case.

Hopefully Ella wouldn't mind being levitated.

Oh, if the blonde badger didn't notice, Sophie was quite scared herself. That was why she didn't let go of her arm. "We'll be alright, though." Even though that crazy maze was in Hogwarts and the school had showed itself to be quite... eventful.

Sophie could hear a lot of people walking in and talking now. That meant they were a bit safer. She couldn't see any of them, but every now and then she would hear the plants next to her moving as other students walked by on the other side.

Walk. Walk. Walk. Walk.

And there was another moment to decide wich way to go!! OHNO! "Left or right??" Sophie asked her friend, looking from one way then to the other.

The Maize Maze??? Juliet was curious about this one so she managed to come and join in with the fun... Upon arriving she saw this huge corn farm(?) and for awhile, her eyes flickered at the sight of it. What if she gets lost? Will someone be able to hear her perhaps?

She then tilted her head to the side and saw that there is a small pathway. Of course, the maze. This should be fun.

So there was a maze on the grounds now, and Penelope definitely wanted to check it out. Plus she'd heard there would be food waiting at the end of it, and that was definitely worth checking out too. But first she had to get through the maze, which hopefully wouldn't be that hard.

Although there was a decision to be made before entering - should she go in alone or try to find a partner or a group to go with? She was pretty okay with either option, though she assumed it would probably be more fun with at least one other person. There were probably already other students in the maze though, yeah? So should she simply go ahead and assume she would run into someone that she could work with or wait for someone? Or just go in not caring either way because she could figure it out on her own?

Decisions, decisions...

Minerva made her way down to the maze she had heard about. She didn't know if any of her friends were coming down or not, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out. She wasn't that big in mazes, because she always got a bit nervous that she wouldn't find her way out, but it seemed to be the thing to do for the evening so why not try.

Looking around she only heard some voices inside the maze, but didn't see anyone. Walking around the outside near the entrance Min tried to decide if she wanted to go in or not. Hmm it might be more fun with someone, maybe she should wait for someone to come that would want to join her.

Airey had never been good with those puzzle books as a child. The ones that had word searches and mazes and those sorts of things that muggle children tended to use to entertain themselves on especially long moving vehicle excursions. He always got distracted or bored midway and put it aside to go and do something more riveting - like building a model mecha. So he really wasn't sure why he was out here on the grounds with the expectation of making it through the maze.

Might have had something to do with him not wanting students and staff alike to think he was antisocial since he kept to his office for a good portion during the day...but it was SCARY sometimes leaving it and seeing that MESS of an environment that the Divination professor called a seating area. It made his skin crawl... *twitch*

Stretching his arms and doing a few squats in place - his lower back cracking a few times and causing him to wince at the slight discomfort - Airey paused at the entrance and adjusted his tie. "Maize Maze...challenge accepted!"
