Item up for bid: Two antique luxury chess sets (Romans vs. Egyptians and Medici vs. Pazzi Family) donated by C. Vanderbilt.
Description: This Roman and Egyptian themed wizard chess set comes with a matching onyx chess table and stool, all of which are part 24 carat gold and part silver-plated solid bronze. The rival families wizard chess set (Medici and Pazzi) is handmade 24 carat gold and silver-plated solid brass and is imported straight from Italy. Its board is onyx with a solid brass frame. Pieces for both chess sets were created using the lost wax casting technique and charmed to fight and repair themselves. The king measures 5.9 inches in height.
Retail Value: Roman and Egyptian: 2407 Galleons; Rival Families: 1540 Galleons; Total Value: 3947 galleons.
