Default Silent Auction - Table 14

Item up for bid: A French mirror and Louis XV chair set donated by S. Zabini-Riddle.

. .

Description: This rectangular mirror makes a stunning accent in bedrooms, living rooms or entryways. Crafted with an ornately carved seashell and scrolling leaf crest, this warm gilt wall accessory features aged, pitted mirror glass. It measures 43 inches in width, 7 in depth and 71 in height. The set of Louis XV-style vintage armchairs celebrates the time-worn beauty of a traditional aesthetic, resulting in a pair of elegant furnishings for transitional living rooms and dining rooms. A cream finish lends a crisp and clean allure to the seat's intricately detailed frame, while inviting off-white upholstery creates a fresh juxtaposition. Ornate embellishments in glamorous gold provide the piece elegant finishing touches. They measure 26 inches in width, 19 in depth and 38 in height.

Charlie made her way over to the table with those too-die-for chair and mirrors. They were just so beautiful - and she had to meet this Riddle girl and find where she had found them. She had to admit those chairs were perfect for her aunt's wedding gift. Though she'd want some of her own as well.

Well how magnificent were these? Aoife cast an appreciative eye over the lovely set. They would look stunning in her living room. She waited until the woman already there had cast her bid and moved on before going over herself and filling out the form.

Charlie happened to walk by the table a second time and noticed a higher bid. Oh dear that wouldn't do - the french woman just glanced at the number above her and vowed that the owner of that paddle wouldn't get it.

Annie kind of liked the look of this table and chair set. They might go nicely in that little house they had in Hogsmeade. The place was so dusty and old looking... she would be looking forward to renovating it this summer.

The redhead stopped at the table near the items and jotted down her bid, moving on her way shortly after.

"Oh, no..." She said, though Cassandra caressed the side of the mirror. It was gorgeous, "No... this is way too extravagant for our little flat. Though it is a beautiful specimen. My mother had a mirror similar to this one in her bedroom..." She hadn't been able to see herself in it... her mother wouldn't allow her in.

She let her hand fall away front the mirror and she looked at herself in it. Her face seemed off. She wasn't sure what it was... maybe she needed a better mirror.

Nik stood behind Cassandra, out of her line of reflection, and watched her for a long moment. He barely registered the mirror, knowing only that it was about 300 years newer than most of the 15th Century furniture he'd inherited with the Chateau he owned in the Loire Valley.

It certainly also didn't fit into his modern London flat, but maybe... did Cassandra want something a bit more... like this?

"The glass doesn't do you justice, my dear," he murmured, almost under his breath, so that nobody but her would hear, "But if you so desire, I would make it a gift to you."

He didn't know much about Cassandra's mother besides the fact that she was a scheming, conniving, evil witch. Perhaps she could buy it just to smash it to smithereens. Which was something Nik suspected he would enjoy watching.

Cassandra's eyes widened as she moved a smidge to look at him through the mirror. The glass didn't do her justice? Her cheeks began flushing again. He wanted to give it her as a gift? She felt as if she stopped breathing. "Oh no... I couldn't ask for this, Nik," She said and turned around, finding herself very close to him. "It's..." she swallowed the nothingness in her mouth, "...way too extravagant... Thank you though... For the offer."

... Merlin! She was so close she could smell him...

She had to know that it was in his nature to try to buy people, and she would never have to ask for anything, but he would just throw gifts at her. Over and over, just to make her happy.

It wasn't something Nik was proud of, but it was just his way. As had been his own father's way of garnering his son's affection.

"You talk of extravagance," he reached for her hand and tucked it into the crook of his elbow, "Yet none of these material objects could shine brighter than your light."

He smiled a half smile of self-deprecation, knowing that she was probably getting uncomfortable at his words. It was probably best to stop before she scarpered off. The last time he'd showered her with too much open affection, she had run off in the middle of the night with nothing but a goodbye note to tell him she was marrying another.

She was a flight risk and there was nothing he could do about it. So for tonight, for now, he contented himself with spending an evening here with her, "Let's go look at the other tables then, maybe you'd find something more to your tastes."

(ooc: basically, they wandered off the chessboard after this point and are kinda just wandering around the library)

Charlotte happened to have walked back by the chairs just to check if she had been the last one to bid on them. She needed those chairs for aunt Alicia. She'd love them - and Alicia was french. What did this person above her with a structure for a last name want with them?

After signing she moved on her way. There, that was done hopefully those would be hers.

HEHEHE NOT FOR LONG!! Really all Aoife wanted was the gorgeous diamond and pearl necklace on Table 1 however she could be a troll when she wanted to. Plus this furniture was really nice.
