Default Lachlan the Lanky

As you crest the staircase coming up from the sixth floor, you'll notice a statue to your right. Lachlan the Lanky is a great landmark for a meeting place because he has just enough space behind him for a firstie to squeeze in and hide.

Never underestimate the element of surprise when greeting your friends, and even more so when sneaking up on your enemies.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

They were already going up so she figured she'd continue with that by heading up another two flights of stairs. This was something that being a lion had prepared her for. Mo should have been fine too. This was a daily walk for them.

Stepping onto the corridor she spotted a familiar statue, just there...minding it's own business like it always did. Nothing special. She was more interested in the portraits. "I'm not sure but I don't think a lot of people come by here, well except, you know, to head to the Common Rooms but here in general...I guess it's lonely." The point was, this place had portraits so they needed to get tapping.

"So we should start knocking now." That way they could know whether or not walking her was a waste too.

A good thought, actually... this was close to the Common Rooms for two houses, which had to be safe, as well as close to the Room of Requirement, which had a way out. Mo nodded solemnly at Lex in a 'well done' sort of gesture. Hopefully, she could read head-nods.

"Let's try out a few portraits," Mo agreed, moving to one on the far side of the statue and giving it the tap tap tap treatment. Anything? Nothing? HELLO?!?

She saw the nod of approval and beamed at it. If she had to guess she was going to assume that he thought her choice of location was a good one. Hopefully it was or he'd think he wasted his nod--he'd probably want it back or something!!! She didn't think it was possible to return those!!

"Right, portraits." She walked over to a set and began tapping. They had to work because well she walked all the way up here and she didn't think there was much further up to go. See how that worked portraits? Going back down was NOT an option because then the trip up would have been a waste. Lex didn't like waste. It didn't interest her in the least bit.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Ahem. Maybe it was sleeping. She'd try again. Tap. Tap. TAP. TAPTAPTAPTAPTAP.

"OI!" She finally shouted. Still nothing. "Are you having any better luck."

"Nothing yet," Mo shook his head before moving on to yet another portrait. "Y'know... maybe we're just looking at this wrong. Maybe it leads to a portrait in an office or the Headmaster's office. It has to lead somewhere safe, somewhere LOCKED." His opinion, at least.

Mo turned and shrugged, tucking his wand back inside his robes. "Or the Room of Requirement. That's a good one for keeping people out, but the portrait in there... well, we already know where it goes."

Mo turned and shrugged, tucking his wand back inside his robes. "Or the Room of Requirement. That's a good one for keeping people out, but the portrait in there... well, we already know where it goes."
Lex stopped attacking tapping the portrait and turned in time to see him put his wand away. Was he giving up? They had said they would be she didn't think she was ready to give up just yet, 'specially after he went and mentioned a possibility of them getting into the Headmistress' office. "Hmmm...not many locked places that people don't visit. The Common Rooms are all technically locked but they're usually filled with people...and if you were hit in the head with a wand by the Headmistress then you wouldn't think her office was so safe afterall." She still remembered how menacing the woman looked, standing over her and whacking the daylight out of her to get the sorting hat out of her mouth. There were nicer ways of doing stuff. Just saying.

After listening to everything he had to say she just shrugged. "So that's it then? We give up? Or do we try finding some place else...?" She glanced back at the stubborn portraits. Whichever option they chose was fine but she was tired of looking at these.

Very uncooperative. Uncooperative and ruuuuuude.

Mo shrugged rather helplessly, which was a TERRIBLE way to feel. Totally unusual and not something Mo had any experience in feeling. He shrugged again. "I dunno, Lex. I think we're supposed to head back after an hour, and we have to head all the way back through the castle. We might have time for..."

Where on his list was a likely spot? "Let's try the Room of Requirement. I know how to get in." Mo gestured down the hall before heading in that direction.

Oh yeah...there was a time limit on how long they could be away for. She'd kinda forgotten about that. In her mind class was over and it was the last HoM class of the term so you can imagine just how much her imagination was getting away with her. Thoughts of not having to step into the HoM classroom again until next term, not having any of that boring homework stuff, the works! 'Cept now she was reminded that they had to go back.

"Mmkay, seems like a legit place to check. I don't suspect people go there very often..." Feeling just slightly put off by the lack of luck so far she followed him. Hopefully the next stop would be better.
