So anyways it was time to make his umbrella. West was down for that. He went to pee first and then since he was already in the bathroom, he figured it was a good place to make an umbrella. Or something. Because of the water? Or something. He finished washing his hands and then got his wand out and rummaged in his bag for shoelaces.

The ones he'd got from class, not his own.

These he lay out on the bench between the sinks and readied himself.

Protegamur Aqua was the incantation. He could remember that, thankfully. The wand movmement was harder but West practiced it a few times. It was a kind of triangle, even if you didn't 'draw' it the way most sane people would. A line and a V. Really. It got easier the more he did it. When he was sure he had it right he focused on the shoelace and thought about the colours he'd investigated aaaand his chosen pattern. He could visualise it because he'd even sorta drawn it to get a mental picture of how he wanted it. If only you could draw to focus for every spell.

Okay. Ready.

"Protegamur Aqua!" He drew the triangle with his wand, line over the shoelace, and waaaaaatched it start to twitch.... and then thicken. Hopefully they wouldn't float up in the air on their own again. He still wasn't sure if that had been some kind of effect of the water or what, but it was very interesting and he sorta hoped it might happen again.

For now though he had a very awesssssome umbrella - it was purple. It had a paisley print in green and turquoise, with silver and orange accents, and it was his.

Hmmm. Had anyone talked about the luck issue? Of like, opening an umbrella inside? Wasn't that supposed to be bad luck? Never mind. West scooped up his umbrella --which he had TOTALLY transfigured on his first go, thank you very much-- and left the bathroom to head up the corridor to test the umbrella out.
