Lex wasted no time in finishing her lunch and bolting up all seven flights of stars leading to the planetarium. Normally there was no rush to get started on an assignment but this wasn't just an assignment, ItWasASuperCoolOneThatInvolvedHerGettingHerOwnStar !!! What could be better than that? Nothing. Exactly!

Gosh, for as long as she could remember she'd always wanted a star. She used to look up at them and wonder how she'd get her hands on one. Well now she would know and she would brag about it to anyone who'd listen afterwards!

The second year dashed into the room and made her way quickly to the jars but then she remembered something... "Oh yeah..." With a heavy sigh she back tracked all the way to the closest. NEAT, lab coats!! Now she would be just like those lab guys who get to stare at stars and get paid for it!! Eeeeep! There were goggles too! Somehow she felt she was suppose to know all this was already here but at the moment she was finding this all too cool to really care.

Once she was properly suited up she hurried back to the table filled with empty jars. Hmmm, no one else had started working on their stars yet? Pity. She couldn't wait to get started! It'd be EPIC!

Okay. Lab coat? CHECK! Goggles? CHECKED! Pretty metal containers containing everything she would need to make her star? CHEEEEEEEEEECK! Star time? Yes? Now? Yeah?

She answered her own question by hurrying back to the jars and snatching one. This one would be perfect for her little star baby. It was spacious and looked comfy enough. This got the Alexa Cambridge seal of approval! So onto the business of scribbling on the nifty name tag stuck to the jar.

Nooooow she could move on to more pressing matters...perhaps cleaning the jar...it didn't LOOK clean enough for her star. Nope.

Alyssa silently entered the Astrophysics lab. This was the first time she had been in here. Before doing anything else, she immediately removed a white lab coat and protective goggles from a closet that she had seen on the of her right when she had entered the lab. She put on her lab coat and placed her goggles over eyes before looking around. Alyssa noticed some wooden tables and figured that would be the place that she would be doing her term assignment. Walking over to one of the wooden tables, she placed her back pack on it, and then pulled out to the star shaped boxes and the pickle jar.

"Okay I guess I'm supposed to put these in the jar and change them into their gaseous state." Alyssa whispered to herself. But first things first. Since she wasn't allowed to take the jar with her, and she didn't want others to mistake hers for theirs, she picked up her pen and wrote her name on a label

and then stuck it on her jar. She then pulled out her journal with the instructions, Professor Flamsteed had given them.



'Okay time to clean you.' Alyssa whispered to the pickle jar. She removed the lid and unholstering her wand, she pointed it inside the jar and said,"Scourgify". She then inspected the jar to make sure that it was thoroughly and spotlessly clean. Now she was ready to place the powdered helium and hydrogen into the jar. Picking up a spoon, she pointed her wand at it and cleaned it by saying, "Scourgify". Then she gently opened up the yellow star shaped box and scooped up one tablespoonful worth of hydrogen and moving her spoon ever so slowly to the pickle jar, she poured the contents of the spoon into it. Alyssa then covered the yellow star shaped box, before opening the blue box and dipping her spoon inside, she scooped up one table spoon of powdered helium and slowly poured it into the pickle jar.

Covering the box back, Alyssa then placed the lid back onto the jar and tightened it until it was securely fastened. Now all she had to do was to convert the two powdered elements into gaseous state. Picking up her wand, she jabbed it at the contents inside the jar and at the same time, said, "FINGERE ELEMENTI". POOF!! Immediately the powder elements changed into a yellow gaseous form.

Alyssa quickly checked her journal to make sure that, that was the proper color. 'Blue when it is too hot and red when it is too cold. Okay it looks like we have neither color, so does that mean that my star is doing okay right now?' Alyssa thought to herself. She looked around hoping that the Professor was around to tell her.

'Might as well name you while I wait for the Professor to confirm that I'm doing this right. Okay you're going to be called Yvaine just like the name of the star that turned into a human in that movie, Stardust.' Alyssa thought to herself smiling to herself.

Airey had been in the closet in the back of the room doing some re-alphabetizing of some powdered elements and liquids when he heard the door to the laboratory open. Oh! Must be some students coming to work on their stars! He was actually very excited for this assignment and not just because of the hands on experience it provided his students with astronomy, but for what this project did in connection with his final lesson of the term.

It was going to be legen..................dary.

Coming out of the closet with his own white lab coat over his suit, he nodded his head to Miss Cambridge and Miss Potter before taking a seat at a desk in the front of the room and pulling out some Astronomer Royal related paperwork in regards to that zombie nebula that had kept him away at the beginning of the term. "Hello ladies," he said, giving the two a quick two finger salute before returning his attention to his paperwork.

He was here if they, or anyone else, needed him.

Alyssa looked up when she heard someone walk in. 'Oooh! Great timing! The Prof is here.' Alyssa thought to herself. Raising up her hand to catch the Professor's attention, she asked,"Professor since we're supposed to be taking care of a yellow star, can I assume that I've got the temperature and the quantity of both gases right? It's yellow right now."

Alyssa hoped that she hadn't messed up on her first attempt at taking care of her star.

Alex was not sure how well he'd do at this assignment. He had to actually MAKE his own star? Weren't stars made of a ton of different chemicals and molecules and stuff? If he did something wrong, it could BLOW UP in his FACE. Quite literally.

First things first--he had to put on his lab coat. He went to the area near the right of the room that held all the safety equipment and put his lab coat on before snapping his goggles in to place over his head, securing his eyes.

Next, he grabbed an empty jar and created a label, writing his name nice and clearly on the label:

Now he had to clean the jar. That made sense, didn't want any nasty stuff in his star! "Scourgify!" he said, waving his wand and watching the jar get bright and clean. Not that it hadn't been nearly crystal clear before--it was brighter than before now that the final specks of dust and such were gone.

He went and gathered the two ingredients for his star--the hydrogen and the helium. Helium came in powdered form? He hadn't known that! He took a tablespoon of the helium first, tossing it neatly in his jar. Then he took a tablespoon of the hydrogen and added it to the mix as well.

He tightened the lid on the jar and looked down at his notes. He had to perform the correct incantation now..."Fingere Elementi!" he said, waving his wand. Sure enough, after that the star started to swirl and form inside the jar, forming a lovely little orb. So THAT was what stars looked like. Interesting.

With that done, he smiled and put his jar carefully on the shelf before putting back his lab coat and goggles. Until next time, little star!

As soon as Jory entered the Lab, he went over to the closet to the right and grabbed a lab coat and a pair of goggles. He put them both on and then headed over to one of the wooden tables. From his bag pack, he took out the jar and his book containing the instructions for the project.

"Right, label jar first,'' the Puffer thought. He neatly cut a piece of parchment and then scribbled the following on it:
Then he stuck it on the jar with a permanent Sticking Charm. He didn't want the label falling off or it being removed or anything else. He consulted his book again. "Time to clean you up.'' He pointed the wand on the inside. "Scourgify!'' After checking it to make sure it was well cleaned, he ticked off the set of instructions that were completed. You know, just to make sure everything was done well.

She set the nice jar she'd chosen back on the table--but not in the same place as all the other commoner jars that were reserved for every other star that would be made. Nope. Hers was put just a ways off then she pointed her wand at it. "Scourgify." Yeah she could have used that other cleaning spell but she didn't know it so stop bothering her about it! Merlin!

Now where was she? Oh yeah, adding the hydrogen and helium thingies. She stuck her hand into her pocket and began rummaging around for the little metallic containers. In the middle of her rummaging she heard footsteps, followed by more footsteps and the voice of the Professor. "Hello Professor Airey." Because he said they could call him that. Greeting aside she focused her attention on searching again until she grabbed hold of them and fished them out. Looking over the surface of the table she saw some conveniently placed spoons. Good because she didn't feel like making another trip to the closest. Nope. That was too much work and she wanted to start on the star NOOOW.

Snatching a spoon, she pried open both containers then added a spoonful of each. It wouldn't really matter which was which because their measurements were the same!

Once that was done she put the lid back on and took a step back. Spell time again. This one she wasn't as comfortable with but she did try it a couple times while she was done in the great hall, just to make sure she got a feel for it. No need to have anything blowing up; not when she wanted the star so badly anyway.

Lex cast a quick Fingere Elementi at the jar--it worked!!! Dear sweet Merlin, somebody call her father! She got it right and the jar didn't go boom! Sure it worked when she was down in the great hall but down there she didn't have anything to try it on. For all she knew it probably wasn't working 'til just now!! What was even better, the powder was changing! JBCLJDFVUV!!!

A star! Her star!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

He didn't mean to, but Airey ended up chuckling at the Hufflepuff's question. Merlin did some students worry far too much about things. Wasn't part of a student being trial and error anyway? The girl could take a joke, yes? "Relax, Miss Potter. You are doing everything right right now. Yes, a yellow star means it will glow yellow."He thought that was rather self explanatory. "Wait another 24 hours and come back and see what it looks like then. May not be yellow the next time to see it."

Jory looked up as he heard Professor Airey's voice. "Hello, Professor,'' he said cheerfully. had he been there all along? The Puff hadn't noticed. Anyway... back to making his very own star!

He was calm on the outside but he was very much excited at the thought of completing his project. It wasn't everyday someone made a star. Next up, the powdered helium and hydrogen in the jar. The boy carefully measured out both- one table spoon of each. After both were in, he snapped on the lid.

He raised his wand once again. "Fingere Elementi!" he exclaimed making the jabbing movement. The two ingredients began to mix together immediately.

Alyssa blinked. 'Surely the Professor was joking about the star being purple.' and was about to panic before she realized that the Professor was only joking. She breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay. Thanks Professor for confirming that for me. I'll come back to check on it tomorrow." Alyssa nodded her thanks to Professor Flamsteed.

But she didn't leave immediately, instead, she stood and looked at her star glowing in the jar and as she did, she felt a sense of calm and peace fall over her. Alyssa began to softly sing to it.

"Let there be peace on earth, Let this be the moment now.
With every breath I take, Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment, and live each moment, in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth, and let it began with me."

Alyssa then gently patted her jar and whispered, "See you tomorrow, Yvaine. Sleep well." She packed up her things into her backpack before slinging it over her shoulder. Then she walked over to the cupboard and took off her lab coat and hung it back where she had taken it from before removing her protective goggles and returning that too.

She then walked up to the Professor and smiled her thanks. "Thank you, Professor. I'll be back tomorrow." With one last glance at her jar, Alyssa left the Astrophysics Lab.

Nerida had been thinking about the assignment ever since Professor Flamsteed told them about it...It was so amazing..She was going make her VERY own STAR!!! Usually she didn't get so excited about assignments, but this one she liked!! She took no time running up the seven flights of stairs, usually she took her time getting up the horrible amount of stairs... But why do that now when their was a star waiting to be made??

The fifth year couldn't believe it....She didn't even know it was possible to even make a star...Well in space you could...But in a jar?? She just wanted to dash into the room and get working but she needed to get the protective gear on...Plus it would be so first year if she dashed into the room, and Nerida was no first year.

Nerida silently entered the Astrophysics lab. This was the very first time she had been in here...She was about to continue walking over to jars but then she remembered the gear. Before doing anything else, she removed a white lab coat and protective goggles from the closet. She put her lab coat on and placed her goggles over her eyes, hopefully the goggles wouldn't give her that ring thing around her eyes. Taking a look around, she smiled...A star was going to born in here...Literally!!!

Once she was properly attired with the safety gear, she walked to the table filled with empty jars. Hmmm, it seemed only a few of her classmates had gotten cracking on their star... Strange...She thought their would have been way more people working on their stars...Well some people were just crazy not wanting to get working on creating a star.

After grabbed one of the jars...Her baby star would be in their soon..HOW EXCITING!!! So..Now it was label time!!!

After finishing the amazing jar label, she stuck it onto the jar...Now where was her journal??

After his other classes where over, Daichi made his way back up to the astronomy tower. He planned on working on a term long assignment this year because after he had read the announcement on the Slytherin notice board he thought it would be a fun thing to do.

How many people could say they had their own star?! apart from Hogwarts students of course....and astro people...and the universe...

Opening the door to the Astrophysics Laboratory, the Prefect first looked around in slight fascination. He had never been in this room before and he liked it. Cause even in his six years at Hogwarts he still hadn't seen everything. He placed his bag on a table and went to grab a lab coat and goggles. which looked stupid by the way. So he did not put those on just yet.

He then grabbed the instruction paper and set to work. First he needed a jar, the Slytherin looked around and when he spotted a row of jars in the shelves he stood up and took one. Going back to his place, Daichi opened his bag out a Fwooper Quill he had almost forgotten. He had found the quill that Kurumi had bought for him some time ago in a side pocket. He turned the jar until the label was visible and wrote his name on it.

Alright, maybe it wasn't his real name but HE knew it was his..... AND THAT WAS AN AWESOME NAME FOR A STAR AS WELL! ..he named it Ducky now.

And before he officially began he had a question so he raised his hand in the air and waved it for attention. "Professor Flamsteed? Does the star HAVE to be yellow ? cause i want an orange one!" he soooo did not ask that in a whine.

Alex had only been away from his star for about two days, but he realized at 2 AM the previous morning, while laying awake and trying to fall asleep despite having a cup of coffee at 9 PM (bad move Alex, bad move) that he hadn't NAMED his star yet! What a tragedy! Every star needed a name!

Once he had his lab coat on and goggles, he hurried to grab his star. He realized that it was glowing red, so that was a problem he had to deal with, but first things first--it needed a name.

Yup, Bo. It was plain, simple, probably already the name of a star with his luck--but it sounded so cool. 'Oh look, Bo is really bright tonight' just sounded really cool in his mind. What a fantastic decision on his part!

Ok, now he had to deal with the RED that was currently taking over his star. He pulled out his wand and his notes, locating what the cause of the red orb was. Too much helium. That was an easy fix. He pointed his wand and did two flicks, just as instructed.

"Deminugasalis!" he exclaimed. He smiled as the red stared to slowly fade away, becoming a bright yellow once again. YAY BO!

Having done everything required of him today, he smiled and put his star back on the shelf. Then he took off his lab coat and goggles and exited the classroom almost as quickly as he came.

Ira bounded up the stairs to the astronomy tower and dashed into the Astrophysics Library. She had been so excited to do the assignment ever since it had been posted up! And now that all her other homework was done, she thought that she could do it! And boy, was she excited!

Well, who wouldn't be excited? They were gonna be making their own star! Own star in a jar! Hey, that rhymed! Hehe.. Anyways, Ira was definitely on a sugar high today, and that reflected in her broad grin on her face. Entering the laboratory, she beamed at Professor and others already in.

Flinging Keeping her bad on the bench, she went to take the lab cait and goggles and such. Protective gear was necessary. She put it on, adjusting the goggles, as it fitted just right on her. And now, time to make a star! Like, really make a star!

She grabbed a jar, and set about preparing the items sh'd need. But first, a name. A name for a star.. Stella. Or Iris. Or.. Yup, her star would be called Stella. It meant star in some language, and so it was perfect.

She wrote it on a label and neatly stuck it to the jar.

Internally groaning at the thought of being called away on another business trip to discuss this zombie nebula and...sigh...have another unnecessarily long debate over what to name it, Airey looked up when he heard another student call out his name with a question. Most, wait...no...ALL of which he would be discussing in his next lesson. "Over the course of your assignment your star MAY take on a slightly orangish appearance. This is perfectly fine as long as it does not turn red. However, it would be best for your star if you maintain more of a yellow hue."

Did that answer his question? Airey's goal was for students to maintain a certain classification of stars, but it would be very VERY difficult to maintain a pure yellow color, so slight hues were acceptable.

Daichi patted his shoulder when the professor told him it was an good question. Not to brag or anything but he could be smart...at times..not Always ...but when he was he was cool. The end.

"Oh okay" he answered after the professor was done explaining and he pouted at his jar. He wanted to have an orange star but if the man said it was better yellow then there wasn't much he could do. Or he could mess up the project and get orange.....no wait, he would loose points he was sure so that was out of the question.

He turned back to look at the professor and placed on the goggles over his eyes that had been on his head. "Thanks anyways, Professor. When i have another question i'll ask, or else i'll see you at the Quidditch stadium cause you are going to loooose" he even stuck out his tongue in a playful manner but then remembered he was talking to an authority figure and he quickly took his tongue back. "Oops, sorry sir...i mean professor"

Still thinking about the upcoming quidditch game, Daichi was a little bumped that the first match was not going to be Slytherin like Always. Instead it was Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw. Still, he was looking forward to Flamsteed LOOOOSING the game.

Now that he was done labeling and naming his star Ducky. Daichi grabbed his wand and pointed it inside the jar. "Scourgify!" He said and waited until everything was cleaned. He then pointed his wand to the outside of the jar and performed the spell again for extra care. Now that the jar was clean he grabbed the powdered hellium and hydrogen and scooped up one table spoon and added it to the jar.

Then he put on the lid and beamed in accomplishment. 'Cause he had managed not to spill anything. He pointed his wand at the jar again and used the Fingere Elementi spell that they had learned in class. At first , nothing happened. The two powdered elements just stayed at the bottom of the jar.

He gave another jab with his Phoenix wand and said "Fingere Elementi!" again. For the second time nothing happened and the Slytherin was about to groan in defeat when he tried one last time and it worked. Eh, guess third is the Lucky charm....

He watched in fascination through his goggles how the powders turned in to gasses and suddenly...a little star was born.

HE WAS A DADDY NOW!

Asher was pretty sure that this assignment was one of the coolest term long assignments he ever been assigned. He was going to make his own star. But wait making stars? That sounded hard. Good because Asher Vincenzo Romalotti liked a challenge.

He ran all the way to the Astronomy tower and skidded into the astrophysics laboratory. Opps, that probably wasn't the best thing, not with all the glass things in the lab. Remembering that he needed a lab coat and safety goggles. Yeah, it the closet on the right. He slipped on the coat and tighten the slaps on the goggles around his eyes. Now for a jar, he grabbed a jar and a label.

He wrote on the label.

Asher took his wand out of his bag, and pointed into the jar "Scourgify." Clean jar for the win. Yeah, the Slytherin was to excited about this assignment. but scourgify was a handy little spell, cleans most everything.

Now for the ingredients one tablespoon powdered helium, one tablespoon powdered hydrogen into the jar. For a moment there he though the was in potions or cooking in the kitchen. Now to get this star in the jar. Feeling slightly like a mad scientist, what with the white lab coat and goggles (not to mention his mess of hair.) Closing the lid tightly on to jar, he jabbed the spot where the powdered elements were in the bottom of the jar. "Fingere Elementi." He watched as the elements swirled together forming a ball.

Asher's baby star was in the making. All that star making had made he very hungry. Asher placed his star in a jar back on the shelf. Next stop the kitchen.

Later little star, peace.

All that stupid protective gear and goggles just weighed her down. Really. Weightless protective gear would have been SO much more fun. But all she did was grin and bear it.

The first thing Amelia (after the annoying gear) did was take her jar in hand, walk to one of the wooden tables and sit down. Her jar squarely in front of her she just stared at it blinkBLINKblink.

She had to name her star?

She had to name her star. She just thought raising an eyebrow as she glanced at it. She stuck her name label on the jar and sat there - there was extra space on it...so what was she going to name her star?

Post 4:

Alyssa returned to the lab the next day as she said she would. On entering the room, she went to the cupboard and took out a lab coat and a pair of protective goggles. She put on the coat and placed the goggles over her head, making sure they were protecting her eyes. Then she proceeded to the work tables and looked around for Yvaine, the star she was taking care of. There were other bottles with stars glowing in them and so Alyssa had to look for the jar that had her name labelled on it.

She was alarmed to see when she found her jar, that the star in her jar had turned blue in color. That could only mean one thing. That the star's temperature was getting hot. Quickly checking her journal, she found the spell to stabilize the star's temperature.



Taking out her wand, she jabbed it at her star inside the jar, followed with a downward flick while saying the incantations to the spell, "Dextrini Potitus". She watched as the star slowly changed from blue, to light green and then to yellow. 'Whew! thank goodness I caught that in time.' Alyssa thought to herself. Alyssa ended the spell once she was sure that the star has been restored back to its original yellow color, by pointing her wand at the contents in the jar and saying, "Finite"

She inspected to make sure that the jar was in good condition and that there were no cracks inside. Merlin Forbid! it started to leak. She kept watch over the jar for awhile and while she did so, she decided to sing to it again. She first thought of a song and then looked around. 'Here's hoping no one starts laughing at me.' Alyssa thought to herself.

She first humming the tune to the song and then she softly sang it.

"Smile though your heart is aching, smile even though its breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by.
If you smile through your tears and sorrows, Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll find that life is all worthwhile, if you just smile."

Alyssa ended the song and quickly looked around. She smiled when she noticed that no one was starting at her. "Yvaine, that song was sung especially for you." Alyssa whispered softly to her star in the jar, so that no one else would hear. She continued to keep watch over her star and after awhile, when she noticed that there were no other significant changes in the color of star, Alyssa decided that she would leave for the day and come back tomorrow to check on it. Making sure that her jar was placed safely on the work table, Alyssa packed up her things, and went over to return her lab coat and protective goggles back into the cupboard before she made her way out of the Astrophysics lab.

Amelia wasn't FINISHED getting her little jar-friend ready. Nope. The next thing she did after writing her name on the lid of the jar was cleaning it of course. Whipping out her wand like it was the most precious thing in the world - which it was. She pointed it at the jar.

And a tap latter she spoke the spell. "Tergeo" alright not all of the gunky-ness was off the glass jar. "Scurgify" She tried the second spell.

And BAM that jar was sparkling like there was NO tomorrow.

Taking two clean table spoons and cleaning them a second time for good measure she picked them up in time and took a nice scoopful of helium in one spoon and hydrogen in the other. And carefully she picked one spoon first and simply tipped it sideways over her jar. The hydrogen falling inside the jar with her little yellow star.

AND then she did the same with the helium. OH THIS WAS GUNNA BE EPIC! She just knew it! After closing the lid of the jar securely she jabbed her wand at the jar and spoke "Fingere Elementi". A little gasp later she watched as the elements in the jar seemed to disappear - but she knew they weren't actually gone. They were GASSES! And gasses were cool. Right?

She still had that little star-box in hand that she had saved for Kaiden - as he'd missed the class. It was sitting on the table next to her waiting for her bestie to pick it up. Really. She'd have fun on this project with him because these things were like super amazing right?

She didn't think anyone would think singing to her star was odd so she decided to have a go at it.

"Ooo, you make me live, whatever this world can give to me, It's you, you're all I see, Ooo, you make me live now honey, Ooo, you make me live"

She just loved classic rock. Really. It was one of those things hardly anyone knew about her. If you put classic rock on or sang it she'd be singing along with it or you and just having a ball.

Alyssa walked back into the Astrophysics lab to check on Yvaine, her yellow star. Quickly taking out the lab coat and putting it on before pulling out a pair of protective goggles, which she placed over her head carefully protecting her eyes, she walked over to where she had left her pickle jar containing Yvaine, the yellow star she was taking care of for the rest of the term.

She stopped dead in her tracks, her star was glowing red. "Oh no!...Oh No!!" Alyssa whispered to herself as she quickly pulled out her journal to see what that meant. She remembered that it had to do with the quantity of the helium gas. According to the Professor if there was too much helium the star would turn red.

Not knowing how long her star had been in this condition, Alyssa knew that she had to act fast. Whipping out her wand she was about to cast the spell when she realized that she was in a quandry. She had to first decide whether she needed to decrease or increase the levels of the helium. She quickly read the notes that she had copied from Professor Flamsteed's instructions.



Alyssa frowned when she read the instructions. She understood that if there was too much helium the star would glow red. So that meant that she had to either decrease or increase the amount of helium....but she didn't know which she should be doing. To Increase or decrease? Alyssa knew that she was wasting time, so she made a quick decision and hoped that she hadn't made the wrong one.

She chose to decrease the amount of helium in the jar. Taking out her wand, she pointed it at her red glowing star in the jar, and with two flicks of her wand, she said, "Deminugasalis" and then she waited, watched and prayed that she had made the right decision. Slowly but surely, she saw the glow of her star change color from red, to light orange and then to yellow. She then ended the spell.

Alyssa breathed a sigh of relief. She had managed to save her star...this time round. She hoped that she didn't have to make such snap decisions like that again. She had been lucky this time. The next time she might not. Alyssa holstered her wand and sat down next to her jar. As she sat and watched, she sang to it.

"Everything has it's season, everything has its time,
Show me a reason and I'll soon show you a rhyme.
Cats sit on the window sill, children play in the snow.
Why do I feel I don't fit in anywhere I go.

Rivers belong where they can ramble, Eagles go where they can fly.
I got to be where my spirit can run free,
I gotta find my corner of the sky."

Alyssa whispered to her star, "That's how I feel, Yvaine. Just like you having to find your place in the universe, I'm still trying to find my way." She looked around one more time, before she whispered to Yvaine. "I'm going to leave now, but I'll check on you tomorrow. Get some rest now." Alyssa patted her jar before getting up and packing her journal into her backpack. She walked over to the cupboard and hung up her lab coat and protective goggles. She turned back to glance back at her jar one more time, before Alyssa turned around and exited from the lab.

Having a day or so to mull over possible names for his star, he had picked one out or so he thought. He changed his mind at least another ten times, walking up from the dungeons. Naming something a pet, a child, a STAR was some serious business. A name reflected a lot about personalty. Not that stars had one, right?

He walked into the lab for the second time, nothing much had changed just more stars in a jar. He went over to the closet with the lab coat and safety goggles. Sticking his arms into the coat and goggles on.

He went to retrieve his jar and sat it on a near by table. "Okay there little star you need a name." He smiled as he patted the lid.

He picked up his quill and wrote underneath the info he'd written the day before:

"Hi there Banana, I'm Asher, your evil scientist creator."

He looked over the star checking to see if he needed to do anything else to it before heading to Quidditch practice. He put the jar back on the shelf. Took off the coat and goggles and put them back in the closet.

Jory headed back to the lab a couple of days later. As soon as he reached it, he went to the closet on the right and put on a lab coat and the pair of protective goggles.

The Puffer looked around. There were a few students there, looking after their stars and he recognised a few of them. But they were busy so he just went over to the table he had worked at the previous time, rested down his book bag and grabbed his star in the jar. He examined it carefully and the first thing he noted was that it was an almost bright shade of blue. "Uh oh,'' he thought.

Setting the jar down, the boy reached into his bag and pulled out his note book. And there it was, a spell to cure the blue star. "Dextrini Potitus, Dextrini Potitus, Dextrini Potitus,'' he repeated in his head as he reached for his wand. "Right, as blue means the star is too hot, I need to flick the wand downward.'' He pointed his wand at the jar. "Dextrini Potitus!'' he exclaimed and making the downward flick. Slowly but surely, the star's colour began to come back to yellow as the temperature dropped. "Perfect!'' Jory muttered as his star glowed.

Steps on how to take care of my awesometastical yellow star.
1. Always wear lab coat and protective goggles on entering the lab.
2. Write your name on a label and place it on your jar.
3. Clean your jar - Scourgify & Tergeo work best
4. Add one table spoon of powdered helium & hydrogen each to the jar and put the lid on it.
5. Perform Fingere Elementi to change the powdered elements into gases. The two gases will compress on their own within the jar to produce a star.

Spells to take care of star:
1. Spell to control temperature
your star will turn blue when it is too hot & red when it is too cold
- incantation: Dextrini Potitus
- wand movement: jab with a flick upwards to increase and flick downward to decrease.

2. Spell to increase helium
your star will glow red when there is too much helium
- incantation: Cumugasalis
- wand movement: two flicks

3. Spell to decrease helium
your star will glow red when there is too much helium
- incantation: Deminugasalis
- wand movement: two flicks

4. Spell to increase hydrogen
your star will begin to glow white when it is running out of hydrogen
- incantation: Crescere Hydrogenenii

So she had already sung to her star. Now she needed to cast the spells, name it, and do a load of other things. She might even sing to it again. But she needed to name her star.

She had just lost Steve her fish...he was the fish at the local fish market - the one in the live tank. Kinda lopsided Salmon fish that looked so ugly no one would eat it. But someone ate him.

"Steve" she whimpered and wiped a little tear from her cheek. She missed him. And she was so mad at her mother for making filet of Steve for dinner over summer. That was heart wrenching when she noticed those dark beady dead eyes were the same ones she had looked into when her father went to buy fish for meals. Because fresh was best.

So to calm her nerves she began to sing again.

"Stars, In your multitudes..." she paused a moment and looked around nervous to see whether people would judge her for singing not only once but TWICE to her star. And singing about stars to her star. "Scarce to be counted, filling the darkness, with order and light" she breathed another nervous breath. "You are the sentinels, silent and sure, keeping watch in the night...Keeping watch in the night" when she had finished singing the section of the song she just kept humming more tunes from the same show.

Taking her wand she pointed her wand at the star that was starting to turn quite blue. She was killing her star! "Dextrini Potitus" she jabbed her wand forward and at the last second flicked her wand upward. As she watched the star began to brighten. At one point it was nearly green - she tried the spell again.

THIS time the star turned pink. "Oh merlin" she squeaked nervously as she pointed her wand at the jarred star once more. "Dextrini Potitus" she spoke - pannick on her face. Her wand expertly jabbed and flicked downward and now the star rested at a safe yellow color.

"Rooking their guests and crooking the books" she sang under her breath and hummed the tune some more. "I'm going to be the death of my own star." She whimpered as she glanced at the jar in front of her.
