Far from the lake and closer to the castle lies a tree-bare area. It's easily detected as soon as you step out through the huge double doors thanks to the hoops lining the entire spot. Lines of twenty hoops stood parallel to each other. Each hoop was big enough for an average sixteen years old to jump through it, and it rose a few inches off the ground with nothing seemed to hold it in place. Well, nothing but magic.
It's not a long walk to where this place was set up by professor Botros, so move along with your Prefects and stay in line, waiting for the old professor to join you and explain everything.

That's what Ella was doing as the class made their way out to...well wherever they were going. And she was still curious, in case anyone was wondering.

Hoops? The fifteen year old immediately got the mental image of dogs dressed like clowns jumping through hoops, something she'd seen at the Circus once when she was very small. Hmmmm. Were they going to be the dogs in this scenario? Blink.

Alyssa followed the line to where Professor Botros was leading them to. Outside was a definitely a good guess but where was another. She continued to chant the gladr to the Rune Raidho.

If she wasn't careful she was going to start chanting like they did in congo lines, of which she felt like she was already in one.

Then she saw the hoops. They looked like the same ones that they had used in their Flying Lesson only they weren't on the Quidditch grounds. The Professor has asked them whether they were afraid of jumping. Were they going to jump up through them like Superman and let the Rune protect them and help them land safely? 'Cool. That would be like flying with a broomstick only without one.' she thought to herself. She couldn't wait for Professor Botros to join them and resume the class.

Jory chanted as he followed the others. He noticed the hoops and wondered what they would be doing with them. Curious as he was, he continued the chanting while waiting for the others to catch up and the Professor to continue the class.

Because he was now clutching the Gandr in one fist, Mo thought it best NOT to continue practicing his chanting. It wouldn't do to suddenly develop an amazing Raidho superpower... even if he wasn't sure what said superpower was. He had some theories, based on what he knew about the rune and based on what he saw as he joined his classmates on the grounds, but... he kinda felt like Ab-Bot wouldn't appreciate Mo doing his own thing.
Everything in its time. He could at least repeat the chant in his head, Raidho raidho raidho... r r r r r r r r r... ru ra ri re ro... rudh radh ridh redh rodh... or er ir ar ur... r r r r r r r r r.
It was a bit chilly, and Mo shoved his hands deep into his pockets, shrugged his shoulders up around his ears, and tried not to be bothered by Lex's response to his thank you note back in class. Her smile was kinda... evil when she'd done it, too.

Would she become a deflated balloon if she chanted with the Gandr in her hands? Alice WANTED to really badly, but she refrained from doing so, on account of it would probably upset Mister Ab. And she didn't want to make him cross because he was one of her favourites. So she stayed perfectly silent as she marched across the grounds and joined the group outside.
It was COLD. Why couldn't they do this indoors? Deflated balloons weren't that bothersome in a classroom setting, yeah?
She huddled in with the rest of the students, shivering as she did so. Professor Botros was right to tell them to dress warmly. Her light sweater didn't cut it, nope. Rubbing her hands together, Alice's thoughts started to travel from deflated balloons to air temperature. Maybe the rune could mess with that? It sure would be more helpful right about now, before she turned into a human ice cube, thanks.

That's right, she followed Alice all the way out. There was no way she'll be walking close to Oakey, unless the chance of stealing his badge was actually probable. But she was in class, and chanting, and paying attention.
"Raidho raidho raidho... r r r r r r r r r.... ru ra ri re ro.... rudh radh ridh redh rodh... or er ir ar ur.... r r r r r r r r r..." she kept on doing this from the moment the Professor said they could do it. But she kept her voice very low, so it was barely a murmur.
Then she stopped. Almost bumping into Queen Alice. Who seemed to be extra cold? Good thing Lottie wasn't. ^^
Those hoops. Oooooh, what were they going to do? *small bounce!*

Following along with the rest of the class and carrying her gandr, Sky wasn't chanting either. Wouldn't do to have whatever the rune was suppose to do happen without professor supervision. What if it made stuff explode? But as she approached the patch set aside in the grounds for the second half of the lesson, she kind of figured out that wasn't the case. In fact, the whole scene, coupled with Professor Botros' question before they had left, reminded her of that saying 'jumping through hoops'. Hmmm.....

Kat was still chanting as her gandr danced and did stuff. For some odd reason, it was kind of entertaining and it had Kat's attention while they were going on their way outside for fresh air. Mhm, like Kat didn't get enough of it from the daily Quidditch practices for the upcoming match against Hufflepuff.
The first thing Kat noticed when they arrived there were the hoops. She didn't know what they were going to do with them while chanting. Maybe Botros was testing their agility and would make them jump from hoop to hoop. Kat could do that, of course. If bludgers can't stop her, why should jumping do so? I didn't even seem so bad, jumping and hopping and stuff. It would be bad if you were Botros. Saaaaad sad Botros, can't jump. He was a wizard right? Maybe he COULD jump with some handy charms and spellwork. Yep.
Anyway, Kat still continued to chant while waiting for the others and for Botros to arrive.

It was hard to think while chanting this as Wade followed his house outside. He did notice the hoops however, connecting the dots in figuring that while chanting they were going to end up jumping through the hoops.. while chanting?
Wade by now was merely whispering the chant while waiting for the Professor to arrive.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
For Shame, for shame.
Not one of his housemates had marched or chanted the galdr in unisen with him. That didn't stop him from marching in place once they class reached the Grounds. "raidho raidho raidho, r r r r r r r r r, ru ra ri re ro, rudh radh ridh redh rodh, or er ir ar ur, r r r r r r r r r" He continued chanting.

The second she left the classroom, Cassia couldn't help not thinking of JUMPING! Because the man said they will be jumping. Well, he didn't say it literally but he hinted. And Cassia understood hinting so well! Especially when jumping was involved. And while thinking of how jumping had anything to do with Ancient Runes she was chanting along with the others. And it actually was kinda fun. They must have looked like a choir.
But everyone was doing it, so "Raidho raidho raidho.....r r r r r r r r r......ru ra ri re ro.....rudh radh ridh redh rodh.....or er ir ar ur.....r r r r r r r r r"
As she joined the other students, Cassia rocked on her heals waiting for the jumping to begin!

Nine minutes and three seconds! A new record. Botros usually took eleven minutes to hurry!walk from his office and down to the grounds, but he did it faster today for the sake of his kids. He was out of breath of course when he reached the hoop area and had to stand for a minute leaning heavily on his cane and ignoring the distant throbbing of his bad leg.
Everyone seemed to have arrived already, if not walking around bored from waiting. He considered doing a quick check-up of all names but decided to simply trust the student leaders on this. They must've done this before, not to mention that all of them sounded pretty confident in themselves which was a great quality in a leader. Even the ducklings calling Prefect, he was confident enough to shout ducklings out loud. What made Botros a bit confused was that Katharos found the Galdr funny but not ducklings. Weird kid.
Okay, he was capable of talking loudly now.
"Over here, children!" He called out so the scattering kids would move closer to where he stood to the side of the hoop lines. "As you can all see we have lines of twenty hoops, one line for each student." He gestured with his good arm at the lines. "We're going to have a challenging activity today, it depends on your fitness and Galdr skills both." He beamed at the group of bouncing kids before holding his own Gandr up, "You need your runic wand, of course, and I will let you hold your magic wand along with it. It'll help you evoke the energy from Raidho more." He waited for them to take their magic wands out and hold it in the same hand as the runic wand. He followed suit and waved the magic wand once, and POOF! The bare hoops from a second before had small flames around the metal circle. It just just like the circus, but instead of a raging fire ring, it was a candle-like flames that flickered with the breeze but never extinguished.
"Now. Each one of you will stand in front of one of the hoop lines. The breeze is already there but it's in not in order, it's not directed toward a certain goal." He paused, letting them feel the chilly air. "What the Raidho wand helps us to do is direct the existent breeze towards those hoops, and extinguish the flames." This was the best way to see and feel how runes could help them connect with elements. "So, chant the Galdr and point your runic wand at the hoops so the flames would go out then jump through the extinguished hoops until you reach the ones that weren't blown out yet. Do the process again with the chanting and runic wand pointing and then jump through the next ones and so on until you reach the end of the line."
It was pretty simple, really. Just extinguish the flames and jump through hoops.
"It's already breezy so you don't have to be perfect with Galdr song, but even so if you have any problems you can raise your hand and wait for me to approach you." Because it'll take him a while to move from one student to the other. "Begin!"

- The activity is worth 8 points in total.
- You need 4 posts to get full credit, at least one paragraph each.
- 1 blow of breeze can take out 5 hoops, then the character should jump through those hoops quickly until they reach the next flaming ones, that's when they repeat the process again and again until they reach the end of the line.
- You can mess up. You can control the breeze but keep in mind that it's not wind so it won't knock you/classmate off their feet.
- Your character should be able to at least say a couple of lines of the Galdr song, no more 'I can't say it, I don't understand it' complaints, please. They should've practiced enough back in class.
- If you want to pair up and jump through the hoops with someone else (for fun purposes) then you can, but you have to be younger than 13-14 years old.
- You have 24 hrs to complete this activity. Have fun! <3

Reaching the grounds and hoping that the other ducklings had followed him, the Slytherin tried to do the chant by muttering it to himself.
"Raidho Raidho Raidho
Lr Lr Lr ..." MWEEEH why couldn't he pronounce the R?!
Turning around, Daichi saw the Professor and then looked to the hoops he hadn't noticed before. He froze as he saw the fire that circled the hoops and even let out a whimper. Fear evident in his eyes as they darted around to searched the protection that Kurumi always gave him whenever fire was involved in a lesson but then remembered that the ex Gryffindor had already graduated...
PROFESSOR SAID WHAT?! They had to jump through those firey hoops ?! Was he crazy?! No way! Daichi was not doing that nu-uh! Ooooh wait...so they have to use the chant to make a breeze and the fire will die out!
It made sense to the Prefect but still...anyone with pyrophobia wasn't happy to even get near those hoops even if it were candle lighted fire to try the chanty spell. He stood there, not moving at all as if he had been petrified.

Did all people take forever until they walked and refilled their old over-used lungs. The third-year stood impatiently swaying back and forth on her heals waiting for the Professor to speak up and tell them what was the jumping for! Finally he did. Cassia was all ears listening and nodding while her smile grew larger the more words were spoken. They were going to jump through burning hoops! That was so awesome! Man, ancient runes! Where was it all those years. Actually it was Cassia's third year so…anyway!
The snake strode towards the hoops with gandr in her hand after dumping her bag on the floor. She stood eyeing the flames thinking It surely wasn't dangerous. The old man wouldn't hurt them. But she needed to remember the chanting. She strode back to her bag and retrieved the piece of paper she had scribbled down the galdr on. Snatching it she strode back to the hoops and immediately regretted it because she was panting when she stood before them. She was supposed to save her breath and strength. Breathing in and out, she straightened and got ready to jumping.
With her runic wand aimed at the flaming hoops, Cassia started chanting with an exciting tone," Raidho raidho raidho.....r r r r r r r r r......ru ra ri re ro.....rudh radh ridh redh rodh.....or er ir ar ur.....r r r r r r r r r" Her eyes lit up as she saw that the fire dimmed on three of the flaming hoops. Immediately she jumped through the three and bent down her knees as she landed. Eeeeep! She knew everything about jumping!
She straightened again, musing at the long line of hoops. It wasn't hard to do but she needed to do it in a slow pace so she won't get exhausted and collapse before she finished the line. She was going to do it professionally.

Yep, jumping through hoops. Literally. Sky could do this. After all, she had been a cheerleader back at her muggle school and there was lots of jumping involved in that. Nope, her worry was that even after practicing the chant and having it down pat, the rune still wouldn't work. But she'll never know until she tries, right? So, here gos.
"Raidho raidho raidho.....r r r r r r r r r......ru ra ri re ro.....rudh radh ridh redh rodh.....or er ir ar ur.....r r r r r r r r r" she chanted, holding her magic wand in one hand and the gandr, aimed at the hoops in front of her, in the other. Okay, so if. Alyssa understood Professor Botros' instructions, they were supposed to use the Gandr for the rune Raidho, point it at the hoops while chanting the Gladr which would blow the flames off the first few hoops. Then they were supposed to jump through as many hoops as possible using the Gandr and chanting the Gladr again, attempt to put out the flames from the next group of hoops and jump through them until they get to the end, hopefully without getting singed.
Alyssa picked up her Gandr and looked at it. It had the rune Raidho carved on it. "Alright time to chant the Gladr." Alyssa whispered to herself.
As she concentrated on the spell, she began chanting the Gladr,

r r r r r r r r r" and began pointing her Gandr at the flames enveloping the hoops.

Suddenly the breeze that was blowing around the grounds seemed to change direction and headed for the flaming hoops extinguishing the flames from the first hoops in front of her. Without any hesitation, Alyssa ran for the first hoop, leaped over it, landed, took another step and jumped over the second and continued hurdling through the hoops until she stood in front of a hoop that was still burning. She turned around to see that she had jumped through 5 of the hoops.
Alyssa could see in front of her more hoops. So she got ready her Gandr and prepared to chant the Gladr in order to extinguish the flames from more of the hoops.
Sarah arrived at the place just before the professor and breathed in the brisk cool air. She did not only mind it, she revelled in it. She saw some hoops ahead and wondered what that was for.

So they were going to jump through hoops... that was AWESOME! Yet first they had to put out the fire. Sarah took out her other wand and put the two wands next to each other and she stood before the burning hoops. What was she meant to do.. pbesides chanting.. which she immidiately resumed after she forgot to do. "raidho raidho raidho

She quickly clambled throught the one hoop, reminded of her diving lessons back at her muggle school. The next four hoops that were not on fire were easy and soon Sarah was faced with a burning hoop again.

Alyssa concentrated on the next group of hoops. Pointing her Gandr at them, she concentrated on directing the breeze that was currently blowing around them to move it towards the hoops and extinguishing a few for her.
She began chanting the Gladr for the Rune Raidho.

Alyssa could feel the change in direction of the breeze and so chanted louder.
"RAIDHO RAIDHO RAIDHO

As she finished the last line of the Gladr, she felt the breeze blow by past her and extinguish the next row of hoops. Without any hesitation, Alyssa ran for the next hoop, leaped through it, landed and leaped through the next one.
She was in the process of running to the next one when she tripped over something, and she stumbled. She scrambled to keep her balance and managed to leap over the third hoop before she lost balance and found herself falling to the ground. Alyssa managed to safe herself from getting hurt by tucking her head and shoulders in towards her chest and executed a tuck and roll landing back on her feet. She stood up and headed for the fourth hoop but found that the flames were still burning around it.
"Darn it! I was so close too. Now I'm going to have to make sure that I get through more hoops, the next time I try again." Alyssa chided herself softly as she backed away from the flaming hoop.

She had regained her breath and was definitely ready for the next jump! Mhhmm. She was a young lady capable of jumping. Though she didn't play Quidditch it didn't mean she wasn't fit. She was and here she was proving it. Glancing at the piece of paper in her hand and aiming the gandr with the other hand, the snake started chanting again!
"Raidho raidho raidho....." This part wasn't getting any easier, "….r r r r r r r r r..." This one was pretty easy though she wondered what did it meant if it did mean anything at all, "...ru ra ri re ro..." This was kinda silly but whatever, "..rudh radh ridh redh rodh.." The hard part again, "...or er ir ar ur.....r r r r r r r r r.." And the flames were OUT!
Again jumping as she made sure her arms were hugged closer to her body, Cassia weaved herself through three then jumped through the next two because she had managed to put out five of them! She was getting better and better. The flames were going to be out in no time!

Sarah looked up at the hoops before it... the flames that danced merrily around it, without a bother in world while they bothered Sarah. She lifted her wands again and pointed it at the hoop. "raidho raidho raidho

r r r r r r r r r" she tried, yet her mind was not in it and it did not work. She sighed and puckered her face up in concentration, imaging the wind that would come "raidho raidho raidho

This time the wind worked a bit yet not enough so she tried once more and alas it worked the breeze came and the next four went out. She quickly dived through the one hoop, clambered through the next hoop and jumped through the next two hoops

Alyssa brushed off the dirt from her arms and hair before she looked at the hoops in front of her. She had counted them earlier before she had started the task and there were 15. Counting the hoops she had already cleared through she knew that she had leaped through 8 and needed to clear another 7 more hoops.
Pointing her Gandr at the hoops in front of her, Alyssa began her chanting.

She could feel the breeze behind her, so Alyssa continued to point her Gandr and chant louder with more determination.

Alyssa was determined that she have the breeze blow out more than three hoops, so she raised her Gandr higher pointing it up in the air while at the same time directly at the hoops and chanted out louder.
"RAIDHO RAIDHO RAIDHO

A breeze blew by her and Alyssa watched as it extinguished the flames from the next four hoops. Quickly tucking the Gandr into her spare holster, Alyssa ran and leaped through the next hoop, landed, took another step and cleared through the next hoop and then the next and then the next. She stopped when she stood in front of another hoop that was still on fire.
"Okay 3 more hoops to go. You can do this." Alyssa kept on encouraging herself.

They had arrived and it was slightly chilly, Bliss noticed. She wrapped her jacket a little tighter around herself, being careful not to drop the Raidho wand while doing so. Then she took out her magic wand, cos that's what she'd been told to do. Right? Bliss looked around and noticed one thing. The hoops. This was going to be a fun activity, she could tell.
Following Professor Botros' instructions, she went and stood in front of a line of hoops, ready for the task. Blowing out the flames of the hoops? That seemed quite, quite fun to her. Bliss listened carefully to what Botros said and remembered it, so that she would hopefully NOT go wrong with this task. She said hopefully, because it was still quite likely that she would. After all, it was her and she was known for being clumsy. Or something like that.
RIGHT.
Focus time.
The third year pointed the Raidho wand at the first hoop and a small smile crept across her face. Eat air, flame. "Raidho raidho raidho... r r r r r r r r r... ru ra ri re ro... rudh radh ridh redh rodh... or er ir ar eh... r r r r r r r r r..." She muttered, concentrating on directing the wand's energy and the air itself in the general direction of the hoops. "Raidho raidho raidho... r r r r r r r r r... ru ra ri re ro... rudh radh ridh redh rodh... or er ir ar eh... r r r r r r r r r..." Once more for good measure? "Raidho raidho raidho... r r r r r r r r r... ru ra ri re ro... rudh radh ridh redh rodh... or er ir ar eh... r r r r r r r r r..." And again.
SUCCESS.
The wind blew out of several of the hoops and she was able to hop through them, so that she standing in front of the next lit hoops. New found confidence coursed through her and she beamed. She really was enjoying Ancient Runes. Not even the slightly strange chanting put her off.

Sometimes in life we take sucess for granted and cease putting effort into things that have worked in the past. So it was with Sarah, she lifted her wands again in order to prepare for the next part of loops and began to chant the chant again "raidho raidho raidho r r r r r r r r r ru ra ri re ro..." yet nothing happened. She assumed that it was just a minor probelm and said the chant again, again rather flippantly. "raidho raidho raidho r r r r r r r r r ru ra ri re ro..." Still no response. Yet Sarah who was feeling one of her moods come over her was starting to get fustrated and hot under the collor. "see, this ancient runes thing is just a joke. The other hoops that went out were just luck.. becuae now this darn thing will not work. I am sure this is a subject just to make a fool of ourselves and as I like succeeding in all that I do, even if the task is to make a fool of myself I will do it again, so you can laugh more! raidho raidho raidho r r r r r r r r r ru ra ri re ro..." she said this time VERY LOUDLY that the wind must have heard and hastily blew out the next five. At first Sarah was too worked up to notice, after all who did when they were in such a state yet when she noticed that she had been screaming for a while and all was sell she felt a bit more like a fool. She quickly climbed through the next few hoops

Fiery hoops, huh? This...was totally awesome! Also awesome? The fact that they were going to be controlling the wind! Like...like they were the big bad wolves or something! BEAM! This was really awesome!
The only not so awesome part was that they had to jump through the hoops and Ella's legs weren't exactly long or anything. Meh. Homegirl was sprightly, though! She was also determined which definitely helped! MHM!
Ella took out her own wand and held it in her right hand along with the Gandr, waiting for Professor Botros to give the green light for them to begin. When he did, the blonde found herself a line of hoops and prepared to go all firefighter on them. Yup.

Was it just Ella or was it getting quite breezy? Grin! She continued holding the wands towards the line of hoops, chanting again and again.

BEAM! The fire! The fire went out in the first FIVE hoops! YESSSSS! Ella fought the urge to jump up and down triumphantly and instead eyed the hoops, a look of determination on her face. Time to do some jumping!
